Sony Xperia 1 III - The worlds first phone to do this!

You trust quality that quantity all right, Sony, ninjas, I'm sure you're, already aware of the brand new Xperia devices just announced and in this video I'm going to focus specifically on the one mark iii and the upgrades that Sony have made sense last year, and I'm making this video to help. You guys decide whether you should wait until the summer for the one mark, 3 or whether now is the time to tactically run across the rooftops and pounce on a one mark ii bargain and for those of you wondering about the Xperia one mark 3's release date. I heard it could be around July and if you guys are here for the first time, consider subscribing for more Sony Xperia videos in the future. Do it so Sony experiment, one mark three: let's focus only on the upgrades, so way back in 2020, I made a video about the sodium spring, one 3 potentially having a 4k 120 hertz OLED panel, and I'm not sure about this. But maybe someone at Sony saw that video and said make it sound, probably not, and in the comments below that video there was a bunch of non-believers out there saying it's impossible: they can't do it. The snapdragon 888 doesn't support 4k at 120 hertz.

Well, I hate to be the person that says I told you so, but I did, but I will say you guys are kind of right, and I think what we'll see here is the screen being able to support 4k at 60, hertz and 120 hertz at a lower resolution, potentially quad HD, so the screen will be capable of both, but maybe not both at the same time. But with that in mind, Sony still can claim that this is the world's first smartphone, with a 4k HDR 21x9 120hz display, and if any of you Sony experts out, there are aware of how Sony are going to handle the 4k and the 120 hats refresh rates. Let us know in the comments below, because I'm very interested to know too I'm a fan just like you guys. So when it comes to any Sony camera, you know what you're expected to do. Right, focus and Sony have certainly focused on the camera improvements here on the Xperia one mark iii.

Let's start with the most notable physical upgrade Sony have introduced the world's first variable telephoto lens, with dual phase detection. Now some of you might know what that means, and some of you might not, but let me try and explain it without getting too techie. So essentially, dual phase autofocus will take two images side by side and cross-reference them to get the clearest picture possible and the Sony Xperia one mark iii can do this at this maximum focal length of 105 millimeters, which means even when it's looking very far away. Everything should be tack, sharp and in focus and Sony have taken this even further than that 105 millimeter focal length with AI, so they have a new feature which is super resolution zoom, which I believe is a digital zoom. So this digital zoom with the dual phase autofocus, could be perfect.

There is just one question: do you think this zoom lens might be the best zoom lens ever made on a smartphone? Let me know what you think, so I heard that Sony's 3d eye timer flight sensor has been improved and has a bit more power this time and if you're wondering what this particular sensor does. Essentially, it fires out invisible beams of light to measure the distance from the sensor itself. Therefore, giving you a bit more depth information in your photography, so hopefully we're gonna, see better both, aka blurry background shots, sometimes known as portrait shots and as well as this Sony mentioned that the 3d timer flight sensor will also help to improve low light. Photography and Sony said you'll even be able to get good low-light performance with bass, shooting modes as well, which is going to be fascinating, because a good night mode normally consists of quite a long exposure. So what Sony are claiming is they can do it with short bursts, as opposed to long exposures? So I'm very interested to see how this works.

Now, here's a couple of things that haven't changed. All three sensors are still 12 megapixels and the selfie shooter is still eight megapixels. I honestly did think we were going to see Sony go big with the primary sensor and the selfie camera this time. But here's a good bit of news. We've still got the mass optics and the mass coating on all the lenses number four, the focus so Sony really have focused on the camera, software and hardware on this device, and here are some camera software upgrades that I think are noteworthy.

So the mark iii can now do eye autofocus on all three lenses, as well as object tracking on all three lenses, as well as auto exposure on all three lenses, and it can use these modes whilst doing 20 frames per second per shooting, and this is largely thanks to the 247 points of focus that the image sensors have on each one and those points of focus cover 70 percent of the image sensor itself. So when it comes to this smartphone, you know what you're expected to do right. So this all sounds so spectacular. I really hope I get a chance to test this out. I just hope the Sony gods deem this channel to be worthy of a sample unit and a subscribed to the channel will really help the cause.

So if you do that now you will be one of the finest subscribers known to men. So all of these camera upgrades mentioned so far are definitely piqueing my interest and on that note we still got no focus peaking mode yet from Sony. I thought we might see it on this one that would have been a really welcome feature on the photo pro app. In my opinion, number five, so Sony certainly aren't shy of a few worlds firsts and in the words of DJ Khaled here's another one. It's the dual stereo speakers, which are now 40 louder than last year's model, which were already good.

In my opinion, they still support Dolby Atmos just like before, but now they also support 360 reality audio. Now, if you don't know what this is, I'm going to link a video, an official Sony video at the end of this one, throw on some headphones or some of your buzz and listen to that video. It's gonna. But the question is on those tiny little speakers in a smartphone. How good can that really be again? This is something we're going to have to test out hands to really know.

I also heard that the bass output has been ramped up and the only way I can imagine that Sony have achieved. This is by somehow clearing some space inside the device to act as a sort of sound chamber, and I really hope it's not just the vibration motors rumbling when you're holding the device that really didn't work. That well last time, and if I understood correctly it sounded like there is some kind of software on board. The Xperia 1 mark 3 that enhances regular stereo audio into 360. Spatial surround audio.

I'm assuming this is some kind of emulated, 360 reality audio features, so, basically anything you listen to can be upscaled into that kind of format. That sounds good right. We shall see, or here to be more precise. So as much as I'm a fan of Sony Xperia devices, do you know what I'm not a fan of fingerprints when you have anything glossy, it looks good until you touch it, and then it looks so. Sony have made some adjustments here.

The back is still gorilla glass, but this time with a frosted finish, which means fewer fingerprints- and I am a big fan of that- and I still consider the Huawei p40 pro's finish to be one of the nicest of all time. So let's hope the experiment iii is back is equally nice and on the front of the spirit, one mark iii, there is an upgrade. The front glass is now gorilla. Glass victors, it's an upgrade on last year's gorilla glass 6. So it will stand up to the test of time, and it's rock hard.

So I honestly believe Qualcomm don't get enough praise for that contribution to the evolution of the rapidly improving smartphone technology. We always give credit to the manufacturers and I think they get us of after four, but here's the reality. The Xperia one mark iii has the latest and greatest smartphone chipset ever made today. As far as I'm aware, it's the snapdragon 888, it's 25 faster than the Xbox One mark, 2's CPU, the graphics, rendering is improved by 35 from last year's model as well, and the chip inside this device is not just responsible for CPU and GPU. It handles audio image, processing signal processing when it comes to Bluetooth from Wi-Fi and all this kind of stuff, as well as thermal management.

It really is the beating heart of this device and props to Qualcomm and Sony for this, and it's really great does Sony always go for the best possible chipset in their flagships and on top of that, Sony have also thrown in a very generous 12 gigabytes of ddr5 ram, and that is another marked upgrade on last year's 8 gigabytes of ram. So Sony have listened to some pro gamers out there, but they haven't listened to my suggestion, which I still think is a good one. The camera shutter button is in the perfect place to be a gaming trigger, so it'd be nice. If you could remap that they haven't listened to me, but they did listen to the pro games, so this is what we got. There's a brand-new gamma assist feature in the game.

Enhancer and pro gamers use this kind of stuff a lot they're just the black level, so that they can see things in the darker parts of the game, sometimes at the cost of picture quality. But it's okay. If it gives you a gaming advantage, and if you use this, you will be able to see better in darker areas now. This is something I do on Call of Duty. War zone.

On my PS5, I set the audio to high pass. Essentially what that does be it raises up the higher frequencies so that you can hear footsteps and stuff like this, when they're close to you now, Sony have introduced another feature into the game: enhancer, which is an audio equalizer which will allow you to do just that, so you can tweak the sound perfectly to give yourself. Another gaming advantage and Sony have also optimized the mics on board for voice chat when gaming, so they're, probably using some kind of low pass, cut off to get rid of some background noise, and this will also work with gaming headsets too. Now. This is something that I think has been inspired by Sony's PlayStation, it's the rewind time feature.

Let's say you jumped out of a train onto a moving helicopter, then jumped off the helicopter performed a 360 spin and quick scoped somebody in the head on the way down as you land onto another moving vehicle. Well, all of that probably happened really quickly, and now you can capture all of that after the fact. Thanks to this new feature, all you have to do is hit record, and it will have the last 30 seconds of gameplay stored at any given time. So you can capture those epic gaming moments before they're gone and like that he's gone.
