Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Review: Pros & Cons By PhoneArena

This is the Galaxy Note 20 ultra the new s, pen wielding super phone by Samsung, and I have been using it and testing it in the last week, and I can tell you right away: this phone is great. It's fast. It's got a huge screen with mind-blowing colors, it's got a powerful camera and if you buy it chances are, you will love it, but there are certain things that just stand out about. The note features that some people will absolutely love and that you just don't get elsewhere after using it for a while. I find that some other features are actually a bit of a turn off for me personally. So here are my 5 reasons why you should buy the Galaxy Note 20 ultra, but also 5 reasons.

You should consider that might be a dealbreaker. So, let's start with reason, number one why you should buy it and obviously that's the s pen. The biggest thing here is the latency or in other words, the delay between the moment. The pen touches the screen and the moment you actually see the results of that. It's just 9 milliseconds much faster than previous node phones after using it for a while.

I don't think it's quite a pen to paper feel you can still notice a tiny bit of a delay, but it's very close to that now. I personally don't use the pen that much. Furthermore, I would jot down a note every once in a while, and I'll play around with it just fiddling with it. So if you're like me, you shouldn't care about this too much now different story. If you use the pen a lot, if you're an artist, an architect, a creative, just a heavy user, then this upgrade in latency.

It's a huge upgrade. Okay, this was reason number one why you should buy it, and here is reason number one why I personally don't find the note a good fit for me now. This phone is just too big. I have kind of gotten used to phones, getting bigger and bigger every year, but this one is just a bit too much for me personally, the camera bump. It's like nothing.

You have seen before it's huge. The phone is also just wide and big. It barely fits in the pocket and if it does, it's just very heavy, especially now in the summer, if I put it in a pocket in my shorts, it's just uncomfortable. Now I wouldn't mind it if there was a smaller version of the note like last year, but the regular note 20 this year, the plastic one, it's also a big phone. So that's my number one concern okay.

Next, the second reason why you should buy the node and well that's actually, my personal favorite feature of this phone is the screen. Now the physical size of the phone might be a little inconvenient, but the screen. Well, it's just wow. It's like having a miniature TV set in your pocket. It's such an immersive experience.

The colors are just beautiful from any angle and, of course it's an AMOLED screen. It gets super bright everything just pops on this display if you watch a lot of YouTube videos or Netflix or just for social media. This is such a rich experience, and you absolutely love it. Okay. So that's what I love, but the second thing that turns me off about this new note is well the price.

Now I get that this is a premium luxury phone, but one thousand three hundred dollars for the base model when even the iPhone cost two hundred dollars less well, that's just a bit too much. Now here's the thing about Samsung phones. That price is usually not what you actually pay. Samsung is running deals and offers from the very launch day and chances are you can get this phone for a lot less? If, however, you have to pay the full price that just seems a bit excessive to me all right reason number three why you should get this phone and why I would get this phone is the camera. I mean just look at how gorgeous it looks, and, yes, it's a big camera hump, but Samsung has managed to give it this unique styling with those metal rings around each of the lenses that give it so much character.

Of course, it's not about the looks it's about the actual photos and photos look great in all conditions. Now you can double-click. The power button to quickly start the camera and focusing is instant. There is no longer the wonky autofocus issue, as we had on the s20 series. Colors are just bitten more refined than on the s20 and even at night images turn out a bit sharper.

Now the improvements over the s20 ultra in terms of camera are very slight, but they are here and if you care about that long range zoom, the quality is great all the way until about 30 times zoom, and if you ignore quality, you can go all the way to 50 times zoom and by the way, we also have a detailed comparison between the note 20 ultra and the s20 ultra, and I recommend you check it out at the link in the description. Okay, now that's the good stuff, let's jump to the bad or again bad is probably not the right word here, as this phone is quite frankly, excellent. It just might not fit everyone. So reason, number three. Why I personally wouldn't get the note is the battery life and the charging situation now battery life on the note 20 ultra is just fine, nothing more! Nothing less, the phone will comfortably last you a full day, and it will require charging overnight again, not bad, but for a super premium device.

You could expect a little better and then again back to why you should buy this phone. I have to mention the 120hz screen now this technology is not quite new, but it's just impressive. How one feature completely transforms the experience and makes it so much smoother so much better. Now this screen doesn't always run at 120 hertz, but it does most of the time now. For example, some games support the 120 hertz mode Minecraft, for example, runs at the full 120 fps refresh rate, but Call of Duty mobile, for example, is capped at 60 fps.

So not all games support it and when you watch videos on YouTube, the frame rate also automatically drops to 60hz helping you preserve a little battery life. That's what Samsung calls a dynamic or variable refresh rate here. Okay, what's on the flip side of the coin, the bad stuff number? Four, why you shouldn't get the note and maybe consider something else is well. The note just doesn't feel super exciting. For example, Chinese phone makers these days are pushing the boundaries with innovative features like fast charging that can top up a battery in half an hour Samsung.

On the other hand, well, it provides the same 25 watt charger as last year, and it has even dropped support for the 45 watt charging speeds that it used to have on the note, 10, and they're just inexplicable. Okay, finally, reason number five. Why I personally would buy the note 20 ultra over others is that for the first time, Samsung is committing to supporting this phone with major android updates for three years previously note phones got only two major updates and when you're buying such a premium luxury phone, that just doesn't feel enough three years or three major updates. Now that's great news: okay and here's. My last reason why I would hesitate to pick.

The note is that Samsung has walked back on one important feature. For me, the storage last year's note came with 256 gigabytes of storage for the base model, and it was the only major flagship to offer so much storage space this year. The base model of the note 20 ultra, at least in the United States, has half that storage and to me again, that's just inexplicable and backwards, and, yes, you do have a 512 gigabyte model that you can buy for 1450, but I imagine most people would have been perfectly happy with the 256 gig base model and skipping that and doing this. Instead, this move just seems like a money grab on Samsung's part anyway. These were my top five reasons why I would buy the note 20 ultra and why you should buy it too, but also my top 5 concerns about this phone.
