Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra LIVE Unboxing By GadgetMatch

If you haven't seen a live unboxing on gadget match before, don't worry it's something new, and it's a experiment in progress which also means we're doing everything live. There's not a lot of production. Um! That's going in to this broadcast, but uh in doing so, and giving up some of that polish and finesse to a video we can also uh. This is our unboxing of the Xiaomi me 11, ultra um. The phone was launched a few weeks ago a week over a week ago.

I believe, alongside the 11 lite, which we've already done a review video on recently. Now the backstory is that I think the phone got stuck um. It wasn't shipped out in time. It wasn't uh produced in time, so we had to wait a little longer, which is fine. We were able to give the me11 ultra some time and some attention, but now I have the 11 ultra, it's arrived.

It arrived today and that's why I've decided to um. You know: do this unscheduled, video and unbox the device uh together, um all right. Lets um, do you want to greet um? Yes, let's, let's greet a few people if um wow, there's a lot MJ says hello from Asia Alexander, I want this phone bib says hi from the Philippines. Andy less says hi from hello from the US um Mustafa says hello from apple in California. Um, hello from Borneo, Alexander Torres, is from Puerto Rico, very nice manual from the Philippines, uh, uh Vincent's last annyeonghaseyo from Korea um.

It says like your voice, just uh, so it sounds like there's a lot of um echo um and I don't know it's something that we were not able to project for, but I mean I understand too, because this is my Lego room, it's not a studio and so um. We haven't really worked on the acoustics of this room. Quite yet. So maybe it's just that, and then I there's one more two more uh, three more uh wow there's a lot of countries being represented. I saw Dr Rajkumar from India lee Taylor Lawrence is watching in the UK.

Gavin go is watching from Singapore and Brendan Peterson is watching from Cape Town, South Africa. I also see Mexico and Malaysia in the commons as well. Uh Cape Town is on the top of my to-do list. I've been wanting to visit um South Africa for a while now, and it's probably one of the first countries that I will visit um once I can travel again uh it's great to have all of you, it's great to know that um, wherever you are in the world, I know here in New York. It's 10 p.

m, but I figured now might be a good time to have more people from around the world join in our unboxing. Let's not waste any more time. Try, let's move over a switch over to a shot of the actual box. Now this is um the box that um it arrived in uh, but I think they just like to ship all their phones in this orange box. But actually the phone is actually in this orange box um and there's not a lot of protection in it as well.

This is exactly how it arrived today, so um, let's go ahead and take a look at the box uh, it's a simple box uh! Even if this is their most premium phone, it's the same shape as all their other uh other phones in the mi 11 series. It has, I think, bronze. Is this copper or bronze? And it tells me 11 ultra- and I don't know if you can see right here, but it says sound by Herman, pardon, alrighty um. Now, let's lift it up and see. What's inside now, I'm curious to see if we got the white or black phone.

So first up is this packet and inside there's a sim ejector tool and inside this box you have. This is very similar to what we saw with the um me 11 lite. You have this little packet with a headphone jack adapter, so it's an USB c to headphone jack, warranty card and user guide and then, let's see what kind of case they sent over. So it's the same CPU plastic, transparent, clear jelly case similar to also to what they shipped with the 11 light, and I'm trying to reach over here. But it's a little disappointing, because this is the case.

Thank you, chai. This is the case that came with the 11. I kind of like the case that came with the 11 better. What do you guys think uh? Let me know below, but um, especially for a premium phone, definitely would have wanted a better case and notice. How big that cutout is by the way which will be uh.

The story of the 11 ultra okay, so looks like the phone is next and moment of truth. We will find out if we got the white or the black phone um over here printed on the wrapper next generation super sensor. That's the big deal we'll talk about it later: who plus display 120, hertz, Qualcomm, triple h, processor and a 67. This is interesting, 67, watt, wired and wireless turbocharging um. Unfortunately they did not send the wireless charger.

Okay, see moment of truth. What do you guys think if you're watching this live comment down below? If it's going to be um, black or white? Here you go. It's white, okay, I'm going to show it to you on screen um. So this is how it looks like here. Wait for the shot to turn over there's a bit of a delay there.

You go it's a white phone now. Look how big that camera bump is. I guess it's time to unwrap the phone, but I guess we should see what else is inside the box. Shall we okay so um further in the box, you have? Ah, so it's just a charger, so you have an USB, cable and a 67 watt charger. Let's go ahead and see if this is an USB USB-C to USB-C, yes, so similar cable as to what we found on uh, the me11 uh lights box as well- and it has that little red accent or orange.

I believe this one is almost orange, could just be the lighting, and it's orange right um, and then this they're, following after apple by the way notice. This is like paper and then even the wrapper around the charger is no longer plastic, which is great following apple's lead, more environmentally friendly again, if you're watching this we're doing this live, and if you have questions just leave them in the comments section, whether you're watching on YouTube or Facebook, and then you have that USB cable on the other end, all right. Now, lets um. Let's look at the comments section, let's see, if there are any comments. No no comments for now.

Okay, I will now move all of this junk away and now, let's take a look at the phone all right. Okay, here's one comment: um! You think this is better than the OnePlus 9 pro. Do you prefer oxygen OS over meat, UI 12. ? That's a very good question: um, china! Let's answer that question. First um, it's really difficult to say: mini has always been one of my favorite um android operating systems, um and oxygen.

Os was perfect because it was very close to vanilla with um just a few uh different um modifications uh, but lately oxygen OS looks like when you uh one UI um. I don't have so much of a problem uh, so it really depends on the customizations. You like what I like about me. UI is all of its practical customizations, and I talked about that in my me11 lite review. So you should definitely check it out all right.

Let's move back to um the phone again, if you have any comments or questions just leave them down below, and I'll try to get to them later on in the video. But this is um what the phone looks like and uh, let's unwrap it, I'm curious to see. Is it a glossy white or is it a matte finish very glossy? So it's like a chai says that is huge. That is a huge you're right chai. That is a really huge camera bump.

I don't know um. If this video does the camera bump any justice, it's basically almost a third of the back of the phone, maybe a quarter of the back of a phone, and I have the other phones here. So that's the ultra. That's the um, the 11, which launched earlier this year and that's the very highly heavily glossy me 11 light. I don't have the pro and there's a pro model in this lineup before we take a look at the phone chai.

Let's take a look at the spec sheet because I know a lot of folks in the comments section want to know uh what the specs are. So, let's go over them um right now, um see. If I can help you get there um and let's see if we can get you the spec sheet, it's not it's not working. This is the um the problem with the live broadcast. There are some uh.

There are some problems there you go. Okay, let's, let's see we can get you the spec sheet right now here. Let me see if I can get it to there. You go processor, snapdragon, 8, processor, 12 and gigabytes of ram and 256 gigabytes of storage, a 6.81 inch display, 120, hertz, uh ammo led, and then it has four cameras: 50 megapixels 48, megapixels, 48, megapixels, telephoto and 20 megapixel selfie, and then a 5 000, William r uh battery all right uh. Before we take a look at the phone further, I would like to uh get to some of your um questions.

So um, let's get to them right now, um start undressing. The box and yourself says: Laura Middleton naughty girl. What's the difference between a regular charger and a g-a-n charger asking Luther sappy, I will have to take a look at what the charging speeds um uh deliver um, because I know um I haven't been in, I just unboxed it, so I haven't been able to test it, but it should be a really, really fast uh charger. But that's a good question and I guess in our review video we can also do testing with a regular charger to see what the difference really is. What if I get a high speed, Qualcomm quick charge, charger um? How fast will that charge versus the 67 watt charger that comes in the box um and then what is a an charger again stands for gallium nitride, well we'll dig into all the technical details of that charger.

Um in a bit um Brandon Brendan says: do you think that we'll see more of these enormous camera bumps on ultra premium flagships from other OEMs? That's a really good question. Now the reason why this phone has a big hump. As you can see, it only has three cameras. It has this one over here this one over here, and then you have the 5x optical zoom. This actually is an OLED screen which is used for if you're taking a selfie- and you want to use the huge main camera um, then you can use that OLED display as like um as a monitor um, so that you don't have to use the selfie camera up front um.

To be honest, I'm not sure why they still added the selfie camera up front. Maybe for video calls yeah video calls um but um. Otherwise, you know this is a really important phone, because um one of our favorite pocket cameras is the Sony Rx 100 series and that uses a one inch uh sensor, uh the main camera on this phone has. It has something very close, not quite but close to that which is a big deal now to answer your questions, you, I think, that's the future um. It scares me, but at the same time, if you take a look, if I hold the phone like this, doesn't it remind you of? Let me see if I can make that clear.

Doesn't it remind you of you know a camera from back in the day, so the phones are looking more and more like cameras and our, I guess the question I would like to ask you guys watching is: would you be comfortable using a phone with such a large camera hump, and if you ask me, I will definitely try to live in this phone and see what I feel, and I will tell you if it offends me um eventually, but I can't answer that question right now, Gary Becky, how heavy is the 11 ultra compared uh? Is it comparable to which phone? In your view- okay- let's let's, let's try that, so I have the 11 and the and the 11 ultra, and you can definitely feel that this is a heavy phone uh. Let me get my iPhone 11 Pro max, okay, so very close to the iPhone 11 Pro max. In fact, in terms of the iPhone 11 Pro max is still, let me see if I can, it's still bigger and thicker there, you go um and wider. So it's not that big of a phone in terms of footprint, but it is big and if you compare that to um the 11, it's roughly the same footprint as the, the regular me 11. So it's really just heavier and of course, that camera bump, of course, is it might offend a lot of people.

Wow. There's a lot of questions coming in, so I'm just going to keep answering it before we turn on the phone, because I would like to turn on the phone uh we're not going to review the phone, but we're going to turn it on. Take a look at that OLED display together, because that's what I really want to be able to see how small is its back display. Is it perfect and important for some users? How could this affect uh new users of the mi 11 ultra? To be honest, the way I see it, a lot of smartphone manufacturers this year have our their strategy is to um. You know how, back in the day the top of the line flagship phone, the one that costed more than a thousand dollars the phone that everybody wanted- um, that would be like one of the few phones in the lineup, and you'd have to spend so much money to get it.

The reality is for most users. We don't really need that top of the line phone because it has so many extra features that regular users don't really need. So I think what a lot of manufacturers are doing. Apple is doing that um Samsung is doing that even OnePlus is doing. That is there.

They have a tiered system and at the very base um like the 11 me 11, they give you a phone, that's affordable. That has all the features that one might need and then for those of you who are like me, who are a techie who want to spend more money who want the latest and greatest, and you can go out and buy the expensive phone? Are these features necessary completely? Not? But I guess that's not the point of the s21 ultra or the iPhone 12 Pro max, or in this case the um 11 ultra or the VIVO v60 pro plus x60 pro plus um. It has. It has a lot of extras, a lot of things that most users don't need, but I think there are fun features to have um. I was reviewing the ROG phone five ultimate.

I just published my review yesterday that phone has like a ticker display. Do you need it? Of course, you don't um you're fine with RGB lighting and that's the same case here anyway. I know some of you have questions, but since you've asked to take a look at the back, I think chai and now is the time uh to switch back um uh to this camera, and I will uh now um have all the phones here. Let me try to move them out of the way there you go. So we can take a look at this phone and let's turn it on together all right while it powers on.

I guess I should answer some more of your questions. Lane Delaney sorry try to read and load at the same time um. How does it really feel premium and do you think it's better to go me 11 ultra versus the other me 11. , that's a perfect question, so I have the phones here. Some of its brothers can be here on the side.

Um. I don't know what I don't even remember what I said in my me love. I don't think I gave the meat um 11 light. The gadget match seal of approval and that's because there are just so many good phones at that price. Point um, I would say even having not used this phone.

If you don't want to spend the money, you should definitely just get the 11. , that's good enough! So I'm just going to skip all of this for now um. But if you know if you, if you like, and that by the way the fingerprint us sensor is underneath the display, but we're going to skip all of this- and I probably just agreed to some terms, but I wanted to be able to quickly show you what mini 12 looks like on this phone, and then we can load the display by the way. The display is not on right now, but you can set that to an always on display. You can set it to notifications, and then you can use it as a camera, monitor, okay, loading apps by the way, if you're watching right now, and you're wondering why does this look very different from a regular gadget match video? Why are there a lot of technical issues? That's because we're doing this, video live uh, and it's something that we want to be able to do more often, I think we're going to punch back to the um to the main camera, while this loads, because it doesn't seem to be loading very fast right now.

It's its still loading but I'll. Let you know um but uh, while it loads I'll. Try to answer some other questions um and if you have any questions, oh that's right! Um! Do you think that little screen at the back is necessary? I don't think it's necessary, but with a camera sensor that great um and that promising, of course, why not have use that as your selfie camera right um so definitely think. That's a great idea to be able to just use them the OLED display as a little monitor. This is a fascinating uh comment.

I don't know who it's from, but it's a will. It focuses my face there uh someone is uh saying it looks very familiar to a Nokia phone and- and I agree- I agree, um and so uh. What do you guys think it does it look alike? Okay, the phone is loaded. It's all I'll, go back to the camera now, and we'll answer some of your questions in a bit. Okay.

So I think the first thing I want to do is just open. The camera. Okay allow and then okay and now, let's turn on the selfie camera. That's me: does it turn on automatically oh there? So now it's on automatically I'm figuring out how to use this with you. Can I touch it? No, I can't okay.

So now I need to figure out how to get that camera to work. Oh, no! No! I'm using the selfie camera. I shouldn't be using the selfie camera. Furthermore, I need to use the main camera right. Okay, still, not working, so I obviously need to press the button.

Okay, let's see, does it need to be on portrait mode. You know what let's dive into wait. Let's see what that is full body mode. Oh, there display preview. Okay, there you go, so you have to go again.

This is live so we're figuring it out. Together, you have to go into your settings, camera settings and there's a button here that says: rear display preview. You have to turn it on and now it's on so try. I don't know how far your zoom can go, or I should go closer to you, um, okay, so that's chai, and you can see her in the remote camera. So it's good enough to take a photo, and then you just have to.

I guess press the button over here. Oh, there and it'll count down okay. So that's that there's no shutter uh blur I'll press the button, and I'll give you two seconds. Okay, that's cool! That's cool! Now I believe you saw the always on display earlier. I just wish there was a way to easily get to it right.

Why do you have to dive into settings to get to it? Now I want to go into settings because there must be a way to there must be a setting for it because I know the always it hasn't always on display, but maybe it's on the always on display um doesn't always on display is on because I know it works as an always-on display as well. Does it just use? Now or maybe it's just? Maybe it's just it's just the that's. It's just a time I'll have to look into that. But if you get a notification it should show up there as well, so they're saying if you have your phone down on table like that, you'll get notified. Of course, when it comes in, I wish you could tap it to bring up the time, but that isn't the case.

So I don't know what I would have to do to get the time to show up. If I touch the phone interesting, I'm not really quite sure what, if I turn it off there and then will it turn off after a while stays looks like it stays on. So maybe that's the always-on part. No, it fades, but you can still see a glimpse of it right there um, and then it disappears all right. So it's not really always on I'll have to look into the um, always on uh part of the claim.

Again, if you're wondering why does Michael josh not know about this phone? It's because I just unboxed it with you and really um. I will need some time to dive into all the settings to figure it out. I don't like watching videos uh about a phone uh from other creators until I've reviewed it so that my opinions aren't affected um. Furthermore, I don't want to spend a lot of time because um definitely we will be working on a review video about this phone. It is the highest ranked camera phone on Denmark right now, so I'm really interested to um in spring.

Its spring is sprung here in New York. There's a lot of um the weather is a beautiful, so I can't wait to take it out uh into the real world and create some content um does it have gorilla glass protection because I think it is a bit of a top heavy phone that can cause drops. There's gorilla glass, I just don't know Vitus on both its front and back just the front uh. We don't know Invictus, also on the back. So we'll, we'll answer that question we'll, we'll make sure um.

Okay, there's a lot of uh people saying that it looks like the Nokia 808, preview, um and then um all right uh. Would you get your phone for your? Would you ditch your eye last question, Tracy fritz Patrick? Would you ditch your iPhone for it at first uh glance, uh well iPhone has a lot of going for it: privacy, security, iMessage FaceTime, so I don't know if I would ditch it for my iPhone, but I'm always in the market for a good camera phone, and I'm curious to see where this stacks up versus all my favorite camera phones that I've reviewed in 2021? I love the VIVO x 60 pro plus. I really enjoyed that one um and I just want to make sure there's no more questions coming in and I also uh you know, love the iPhone 12 Pro max, so we'll see. Now, let's take a look at pricing one more time if you're curious, uh the pricing, I only have European pricing and that's because Xiaomi um hasn't released pricing for other countries um just yet right. Now it's um 1199 uh euros.

That's for the 12 gigabyte, plus 256 gigabytes uh model. I'm a little um a little curious. Why it didn't come with 512, gigabytes of storage um, considering that it's an ultra phone um, but that I'm curious um. What that might mean. There are more questions.

Uh two more questions, and then we wrap up, but if you have more questions, if I didn't answer your question, uh don't worry. This is also a great opportunity for me to be able to reach out to you and ask you guys to take part in the review video uh process. I will definitely answer your questions, especially the ones that I wasn't able to answer tonight or don't know the answers to in the review video um lee Taylor Lawrence says: will you be getting the mix fold well, Xiaomi hasn't committed to sending me one just yet, but we have closely covered the mix series here on gadget match and would be excited um to be able to get it. Unfortunately, back in the day oftentimes we would have to fly to Beijing and pick it up ourselves, um and because we can't travel. I don't know if they'd be willing to ship me one last question uh from Brendan Peterson: do we really need another display on a phone to provide notifications when many people are already wearing smartwatches? I actually kind of thought that to myself do I really want to be able to see my notifications.

Furthermore, I think the whole point why I like putting my phone down face on a table when I'm on a date when I'm on, without with my friends, is that I can keep put my tech away and not be distracted and focus on the person in front of me uh, and I think that's almost becoming a lost art to be able to really devote our 100 focus on the people that we spend time with. So I definitely don't think we need a display to give us notifications. In fact, I even turn them on uh most of the time on my watch, because I don't want them to distract me anyway, guys that was a quick unboxing of the Xiaomi me 11 ultra. It is the most expensive phone currently in Xiaomi's uh current 2021 lineup. They announced it alongside the 11 light earlier uh this month or late last month, and it joins the uh 11 uh May 11, and also the 11 pro.

So there are four me 11 smartphones, uh in the lineup we're currently working on our review video. We have a lot of videos coming, including a video on the new uh OnePlus watch. Tomorrow, that's coming live, and we have um, or is that, the day after tomorrow, two days from now, we have. I have a video on um, my ode to lg coming out tomorrow and of course, we will also be working on the 11 ultra uh video.
