Samsung Galaxy A71 5G VS LG Velvet 5G | $599 each #5G By J. Williams

All right guys, here's a comparison that I have really been wanting to do for you um. It is the uh Samsung Galaxy a71 5g versus the uh lg velvet, uh 5g. So as far as 5g speeds go, I'm going to tell you know, there's no use of me doing a speed test up here, because both of these phones are not going to have the best um speeds up here where I'm at, so I'm just going to kill that off and not even too much worry about that. But your 5g speeds definitely depend on where you are. You know. I mean what you're what you're doing so um the question I had.

I was talking to the people in my group, and I was like man what processor is in this phone right here, because I initially thought it had the 730, but when I put it in the system, it matches the processor in this lg velvet, which is the 765 g. So I thought that was pretty interesting uh when I put them in there, it's spec for spec, it's its the same. When I put it in um the identifier, they pretty much come up the same uh for the processors and everything. So as you can see, they're identical, so I was, I was kind of surprised. I thought this had the 730 uh in it, but that is the um.

That's the regular version. I guess I think it is the one I reviewed before, but nonetheless, these are equally matched really um. As far as like the specs go um, they are 6.8 inches 6.7 inches super AMOLED display beautiful display over here, but I want to go ahead and just kind of put these side by side, because a lot of you guys have been questioning. What do I like better, which one do I like better, so I'm going to stay up in the office, and I'm going to try to knock this video out for you uh, maybe take a couple photos for the front, camera and rear camera, whatever uh, but let's keep this off? So the first thing I want to start with is hardware, and I'll start with the challenger I'll say, because I had this one after this one, even though this one was out first uh, this hardware is a pretty much a plastic build uh. You got a four camera setup on the back with the LED right there you got this nice color shift going on from Samsung.

You've got a flat display, which is a huge bonus. Uh. Furthermore, you have a type c and a headphone jack on the bottom down there with a speaker out single bottom firing. Speaker on this phone you've got six gigs of ram 120 gigs of storage, uh, it's just a's a beautiful thing. This hardware is pretty good.

I really like the flat display on here now. If you switch over to the velvet, you've got a completely different setup. You've got this shiny back on this one, and you've got the four. The three camera setup right here with one led like a little teardrop thing going right here. That's pretty cool uh, and you've got again.

You've got type c and uh speaker out, but this has stereo speakers and this is really, really loud uh, but this phone right here has pretty decent speakers too. You know what I mean so uh, maybe I'll play a song or something uh right now. Actually I guess I'll just go and do that now. But as far as hardware goes, this is a curved body. Tapers off the sides, uh really curved.

Now here's the problem with liking both of these phones um. I like the screen and the way this phone is built, but I, like the hardware, feel on the lg v uh lg velvet, so I'm going to go ahead and call that a watch uh, even though you know they're, basically spec the same internally, uh and um, but this one has the stereo speakers so on the hardware, so I'll give it a one up and uh. Let me play some music real quick here. Let me load up some music uh real fast here. That's how I got that heat.

Let's go all right. Let's play the same song over here downtown. I got that heat. Let's go so in that quick one. You can already tell that this one's going to have a lot more.

Let's go to another one here, that's how I got that heat. Let's go, so you get the just of it. I wanted to show you that the velvet has much better speakers and really through this video you're, not going to really pick it up how good they really are, but the velvet speakers are just banging hard. This is incredible, so hardware wise, I like the screen and the way this phone feels uh. Speaker wise.

I like this phone better and I wait. I like the way this phone looks. You know it's this narrower it. This one actually probably feels a little better in the hand, but the fact that it's got the curve compared to flat screen. You know it's kind of I'll give it a tie for the hardware, though, because I like something about both of these and you as I go along, take notes and then post your comments down below how you feel about each thing that I'm comparing, and you give your thoughts on it.

Based on what you see or if you have both of these, so that's hardware now, since these pretty much have the same internals um performance on both of these is going to be. You know pretty much a wash to me. You know because it comes down to the optimization um about performance, but I mean I can pop open a couple of apps uh, but they're both over the same Wi-Fi, but they're both pretty much open and everything. Furthermore, you know it's not bad. It's its uh! You know the lg loaded it up right there to the top already, but you know nonetheless performance on these you're not going to see too much difference.

Um, it's just a matter of you know who's really paying attention to um. How fast something is loading and one thing you want to notice about these two applications from Instagram I got. This is the new Instagram. So if you haven't learned about the new Instagram, it'll, you'll eventually get the update uh, but your likes are gonna, be up here now and the store is down here, it's kind of strange, but they added that if you notice that that's different so look out for the new Instagram uh, but you know performance on this man. This is a matter of you know which one you think feels better.

Some people don't like one UI, some people don't like velvet UI, or you know, lg's UI, uh, there's no boot loop, there are no problems with this UI and there are no problems with this UI. I like them both uh, and I think that you know in the end, you got to decide which one you like, and I think that both of these are great uh, uh skins over android. Nothing, nothing! Really! No! If you want a real experience with android, you got to get a stock android device. You got to get a pixel, this phone flies. This phone also has six gigs of ram uh and um 120 gigs of storage, and it costs 350 and both of these cost 600.

Uh. So keep that in mind too I'll get to stuff like that later, but as far as software goes and performance, these pretty much do the same. To me, there 's's nothing different about it. I want to talk about something: that's um most people probably won't talk about, is call quality call. Quality on both of these are actually really solid.

Um the lg having the stereo speaker set up. It seems like when I put it on speakerphone, it's really loud with the um with the velvet uh, but the Samsung is really clear. It sounds perfect, so, but basically um. I've used this on ATT, and this is on T-Mobile. So you know, T-Mobile speeds are faster overall than um ATT.

No matter where I go, there seems to be uh faster, like I'll put it on. I said I was going to do speeds, but some of you guys just might want to know it's going to be really slow up here. Um in this office, it's going to be like really slow, I'm like buried away uh, but nonetheless, in my testing I found that T-Mobile speeds are generally just faster than ATT's, no matter what so you know, I guess now. At twill probably make me out of a liar when I hit these up, so you've got a TNT over here. It's on T-Mobile's Austin, so I'll change this to Austin, because I know there is one should be one well, no, it's not an ATT Austin right now, so I'll leave it on aunt, uh Plano, but I'm going to go ahead and hit these and just give you some general idea of what it's going to be like.

This is actually on 5g and this one is on LTE, see the aunt one picks up some things. You know on 5g. Sometimes it's on 5g um, but most times it's not so both of these speed tests right here is garbage compared to my compared to my um right, my Verizon or my thigh. You know what I'm saying so: that's um that's something to be desired as far as these speed tests go but generally, like I said, the T-Mobile one is pretty much always faster than the ATM t uh, and you know real. This isn't really a good test to me because it doesn't really pull down what the devices can really do as far as um.

You know the actual speeds for day-to-day use, and- and I talked about a speed test uh in the other in another video- and it doesn't really. The networks on here is too much that goes into the network when it comes to um speed tests. So right now I want to show you um, google phi on the speed test right now see if I can just real quick. This is a dual sim and I have ATT and google. So I have 18t here.

I have T-Mobile here, and I have a t and phi over here. So um phi is in my Verizon account where's, my Verizon one at I got it's somewhere around. My rising account is around here somewhere um, but you know nonetheless, the phi is pretty fast, but my Verizon account uh is really, really fast. So, as you can see the difference here with fine, that's, and I'm in an area of my house where it's pretty stupid. Yes, there's no service really at all, but look at how well phi does compared to your know, and it's on LTE compared to the other two carriers T-Mobile and at t so um.

You know it network is going to depend on a bunch man and that's just what I'll leave it at. But I will tell you that if you have never used Google phi, you probably want to give it a try because bars. Let me brush them off again. You can hear me brushing it off, but you probably want to give google fires a try man, because their their their network is way better than what they get credit for. So um.

You know it's a matter of preference. You know you don't have to determine whether you want to um switch to phi or not, but I'm telling you that phi is the truth. Man and my Verizon account does really well too so. Network phone calls speeds to me. It's kind of a was ht-mobile is always faster than aunt, and that's just what it is so price on here and what these phones are offering.

Now these both cost 5.99 the difference that the lg has is, if you can get it on promo right now. You can get an actual case and get this for 300 bucks through ATT and that's the bad part about the velvet. It's not available everywhere. You can actually get the through T-Mobile Samsung. You can get if it's unlocked.

Furthermore, you can get it directly, you know and have you have options with ATT? Furthermore, you know yeah. This is a more functional, you get more phone, but this also adds on 200 bucks. So that's why I took it off because it brings the price of the phone up and you guys are going to say whoa. You know that's not fair blah, blah blah, and you'd be right, so I'm just kind of comparing these two but functionality and options. The velvet wins once you add the case, but if you use a velvet like this, this is just another android device.

Now, let's talk about battery, the velvet gets stomped um. I don't know any way to say that um, the velvet is a nice phone for battery, but Samsung's standby time is beast mode. Man I mean it is beast mode. This phone only sipped, four percent overnight from 100 and this one sipped about 10 or more um. But again you know again.

This comes down to optimization for the software uh, and this is something that you know. Some companies just can't get right. They can't get right. This has a 4 500 William battery inside, and this has a 4300mah battery inside, and you know when you compare them, it's kind of like um they're, both getting really decent screen on time, but the Samsung is getting a lot more um, and- and that's this- that's just what it's going to be. This battery is 200 Williams more, but the software is probably optimized a little better than the velvet uh.

This is one UI 2.1 by the way, and they're both running on android, 10 and, and I believe, they're both on the room security patch. So you know it's a matter of you. You're not gonna, know this. If you don't have them both. This is getting probably seven.

Eight, maybe top eight tops, maybe on a great day, seven six and a half seven for sure, possibly, but on the Samsung I can pull down close to nine or ten. Sometimes so that's important and so battery life is perfect on this. This phone right here, man, it's its just incredible man. Now it could be that you know now. I keep a black a darker wallpaper on here.

This is an AMOLED super AMOLED display, and this is a poled display. So there's a difference. This has a higher resolution, but just a tad bit of you know the pixel count but other than that man. I think these are pretty much. These are some of the most closely matched phones that I've ever used.

They both have pretty much the same intern they're, even both running on ugh UFS 2.1. That's how fast the know the speeds are so for the for transferring the data with the memory or transferring things with the memory they're, both right there. So with all that being said, you know, let's get into the 32 megapixel front for photos and the 16 and the rear and the 48. This has a 64 megapixel camera on the rear, as the main shooter and a 12 ultra-wide and a 5 and a 5 for a macro on it. That, and this one has a 48 megapixel uh wide with the 8 megapixel for ultra-wide and a 5 megapixel def depth sensor.

So this does not have a macro, obviously uh this records in 4k on the front and the velvet. I think I believe the velvet does record in 4k on the front. Let me just verify, because I've shot video with the velvet um yeah there we go. Let me switch it though real quick, yeah there we go 4k for the velvet two, and I remember doing 4k with the velvet. I just can't remember man.

Does it have four okay? Now, where the velvet is going to win um? As far as cameras go, it's going to be audio for video. The pro mode of the velvet or lg's promo is unmatched when it comes to camera, camera software and recording and the velvet has everything the v60 has. You know I'm saying so. It's got the both voice that MSR stuff or whatever it's called like. You know you can do, enhance the microphones um.

It's got all of that. You know, don't laugh um. It's got all that and the um Samsung doesn't so enough. Chit ta chatter. This is a long video.

I know it has to be. Sometimes it's gotta be like that. I'm getting my floss on with a two hour, video vlogs be going in man for us. I like that. Sometimes though, because if I ain't doing that- and I can just pop that bad boy on chill out and watch me- I love long videos.

Some people don't like long videos, they don't have the patience to watch through. But I do I love long videos so um, let's get some camera samples on here and let's get this thing going, some more all right guys. So here is the uh camera of the rear camera on the Samsung Galaxy a71, 5g uh. What do you think about this quick sample all right? So now here is the lg velvet with a quick sample. I did turn on both voice, since it's an option got a shine like you can, but no pro mode or anything like that.

But what do you think about this sample? Okay, anyone else has mixed feelings about what they just saw. That's kind of strange right. So in this study now, let's be clear here: I've done a camera sample video review on the lg velvet, but I always say: you've got to be able to perform in any situation and, ultimately folks I have one led going in a completely dark room. It's just a really powerful led it's like 200, LEDs or 150, something like I don't know, but it's just shining right down right here. The room is completely dark, so that's enough to give a great vlogging set situation or whatever, and I just took photos and quick video samples right here and the velvet's front camera just blah.

You know the front camera for photos. Just didn't stand up to Samsung's camera. However, what did you think about? I mean the rear was obviously better on Samsung 2 for photos in this situation, but it's strange because the velvet does perfect like in a bright, a well-lit situation, but most phones can do that. Samsung surprised me with this one just based on what I can see through the viewfinder of each one and looking at the photos, and now I've loaded them up. I mean it.

It's its a shocker that the Samsung cameras are a little better in stills than the velvet in this lower light situation. Now, as far as video goes, what do you think about that? I think they're, both fantastic. The lg has a little more of a crop on it, uh for the 4k, but nonetheless I think that was good. So here's the skinny just kidding the velvet is a phone. Now, let's just be clear here, I have to say it.

I can't no. I can't just leave it out there's no. This is an option for this phone. Now, the velvet of these two phones, I get more. I feel great when I use my dual screen.

This is just beast mode right here. This is just something that you just can't. This is great, however, when you take this away, obviously the velvet becomes just another android phone, and how does it perform? It performs great, but these phones cost identical in price, and they are equally matched in specs. What do you guys think? Which one of these would you buy, and I know you're going to say OJ? Neither one of my horse 5.99, listen, get past that they're 5.99 man, so I'm asking you directly, which one of these would you purchase if you just purchased them just like this flat out just like this, which one would you get which one do you like? You know which one would you buy for 5.99, it's a tough one, because remember I'm at a toss-up between hardware like something good about both hardware. This is a tough one me I have to leave you hanging on this one, because the fact is I own them both.

So if I can switch, if I need to, I get to use them both, but reality is um. You know it's going to come down to which software you like better, which hardware you like better performance, is equally matched folks which cameras you like better. The battery is definitely better on the Samsung and then, when you add on this case for the velvet, you get uh even less battery uh at that. So but nonetheless, these are both perfect, and it's actually really hard for me to choose like a winner um, but so you just kind of go through everything that you want to do with me with this video, and you determine which one you, like better hardware, cameras speakers, you know. All of that.

You know I mean music is by Taney, so lit. So you know that's who sponsors, probably nearly everybody on YouTube at this point for music, you can buy, beats from him as low as two dollars. Folks, two dollars you can get a beat from. I think it's two or three dollars. You can get a beat that you own, and he will not file a copyright against you for using it on YouTube.

A lot of YouTubers have switched to Taney and other plea, at least the people. I know on YouTube. They all use Santa's music, because you buy the beats they're yours, you can do it and what you want. YouTube has been filing claims on people for free music that they gave us years ago, and I've been getting copyright strikes from stuff 10 years ago that I got off free for YouTube and I think it's because of the economy right now. These people aren't getting any money or YouTube's, not paying them, so they're going back filing claims and trying to get money from other people off their videos, and I'm not sharing revenue with somebody for something that's supposed to be free.
