Samsung Galaxy A52 VS Google Pixel 4a 5G The $499 Battle!

What's going on folks, it's your man jay, and I'm back with another video. So today we talk about two phones that cost the same. Yeah, one has been out a little longer than the other, which would be the pixel 485 g uh. But then you got the new kid on the block, which is the Samsung Galaxy a52. So then this is 5g a52, 5g, pixel, 4a5g, 5g, folks 5g. So first thing I want to say: is these cost 4.99 both of these cost 4.99? So if you have 500 or your budget is 500, you know this is what it is. You get to choose one of these, so the price tag does it warrant.

You know what I'm saying like what you're getting here so first thing. Another thing I want to say is that you can get both of these on a promo at some point or another like Samsung always has these trade-in deals, you can find trade-in deals for the 45g. You can even find the 45g I paid 350 for mine through Google, five without any kind of trade-in they offer promo. Sometimes you have to look online and find promos now we'll leave a link to this particular model right here, because this is the global version and the US doesn't come in any of the other colors only the global version. So I have the blue version here.

So I'll leave a link to this one and this one while it is 5g, it's not 5g for the US you'll just be stuck on 4g LTE, which is totally fine, and it's not 500 for that matter. It's like 300 and something basically just check the link in the description for the latest pricing uh and um yeah. So let's talk about hardware um, and you know- let's, let's start right there so with the pixel 485 g. Well, let's, let's talk about the Samsung first Samsung you get a 6.5 inch super AMOLED display, and it comes in a 90 hertz or a 120 hertz depending on your region, so the global version, let's go into display real, quick, and I'll. Show you what I'm talking about here.

You go into advanced high smoothness. As you see here. This is the 90 hertz version. The global version is the 90 hertz version, so I mean bear that in mind. You pay a little less for sure.

You save 150 180 bucks by getting the low version, and you still get 90 hertz. So this is a super AMOLED 90 hertz display either 100 hertz or 120 hertz or 90 hertz 900 800 nits peak brightness. That seems to be a thing now: people talk about peak brightness and just to get really techie on you. This is gorilla, glass, 5 and just so you know this is gorilla glass, three on the pixel 45 g, so for those that that matters android 11 uh 3.1 on here- and you have a snapdragon, 750 g uh and there's an eight gig version, which is what I have and then there's a 6 gig version. I believe as well.

I believe the US version comes in a 6 gig version, but the international models you can get the 8 gig 128 or the 8 gig 256, and that is what I have right here: 8 gig 128, so 64 megapixel shooter on here. For the main you got a wide, you got a 12 megapixel. Then you got two five megapixels all these different macro depth and um. That's pretty much the hardware on here, and you do have a 4500 William hour battery. I believe in this one yeah so hardware wise taking a look at the hardware.

You have an Instagram feeling for reader facial recognition, and you have these different colors for the hardware. Again, I have this blue version. If you want the international version with all the different colors and the lower price, the links in the description, you got a headphone jack type c. Stereo speakers. Noise, cancel microphone, sim tray on top and uh the Instagram fingerprint reader.

Are you know it's? Okay, it's not it's not the most accurate and that's the problem with end screen, fingerprint readers they're, not the most accurate, see how I just pop that open and just it just comes right on you're, not gonna, get that unless you have uh something like this, a one plus you get it's going to open a lot faster, even on the OnePlus 9. It's just fast. That's just what it is: that's the 99 pro there, those are some of the fastest in-screen phone readers that I've used in a long time now, Samsung on the s21. They do have fast fingerprint readers and some of their other products are had fast food readers. But you get this uh 6.5 inch display it's really beautiful. Let me fire up a video right here.

What's up folks, it's your man jay back with another video, so it's the weekend pulled out the uh, beautiful velocity red, sometimes orange, sometimes tangerine. What that I've heard is almost two 000 miles, and I'm right under 2 000 miles. So the speaker on here definitely not the loudest, but you do get a beautiful, beautiful display, yeah. So the display on here absolutely beautiful. The speakers are really nice.

You know I'm saying this: it's a good look on the hardware, so that is the a52. Now, let's switch over to the Samsung. Excuse me the pixel. Now for the pixel, you get a 6.2 inch, OLED display all right, 6.2, inches, OLED, no 90 hertz or anything like that. That's actually on the pixel 5, which costs a little more than this one um yeah.

This is what you get right here, but I'm telling you folks. This would be one of the most beautiful displays you ever laid eyes on. I kid you not I'm not just saying that, because I'm team pixel, and I'm rocking with Samsung still stock, android 765 g processor in this joint right here, and it's got the arena 620 opposed to the 619 on uh the a52. Now the flip side of that is. This only comes in one configuration which is 128 gigs with 6 gigs of ram.

But since it's stock android, I don't think you'll feel the difference. Trust me. So you get an 8 megapixel on the front, and then you get a 12 megapixel on the back with a 16 megapixel ultra-wide. You got that rear, mounted fingerprinted, which is extremely accurate and really fast. This phone also shoots in 4k 60.

Unlike the Samsung, it doesn't shoot, 4k 60 it shoots. It tops out at 4k 30. The battery in here is a 38.85 or something like that: yeah 38.85 and uh. That's that's what you get with this one overall, so let's fire up uh that same video, so you can take a look at the display uh on the pixel and tell me what you think about that video. So it's the weekend pulled out the uh beautiful velocity red, sometimes orange, sometimes tangerine, whatever it is almost 2 000 miles now right under 2000 miles, so you'll notice right away.

I think the screen pops a lot more for some reason on this one. I don't know what it is: it's very vibrant, very vivid, and it's really nice, so the display on this to me is actually perfect. Now, when it comes to hardware, comparing both of these again, you do get that hardware fingerprint reader, and you get um the headphone jacks on the top of this one uh opposed to the bottom. Some people like when you slip your phone in your pocket. You want to pull it out like this, not upside down.

Some people consider it, but it does have a headphone jack. Just like this. One has type c, and I think the speakers are just better on the pixel of the pixel 485g as far as the way the phones look. I like the way the Samsung looks. I think the Samsung a52 looks a lot better and because there's only one configuration of this one now with that, I think the Pixel 4a is a much more solid feeling phone.

It feels fantastic. It doesn't feel hollow at all. Like you see, I'm saying it's one thing you got to feel in person or do that test yourself in person. You'll see what I mean, but anyway, the pixel may not look as good as the Samsung, but it definitely has the better hardware. I say very solid in the hand.

It just feels really, really good man and the hardware is on for me, so software wise, let's close out everything here- software wise you're, looking at stock, android you're, looking at a blazing fast uh set of uh software here on stock android is just where it's at for me. If you want to experience android, you got to do stock android first, you can't go to something, that's skinned, because it might taint your image of what uh android should be. That's just my personal opinion. Now, with that being said, the functionality of the um Samsung gives you many more options than the pixel devices. Whatever do you got all these different things? You can add over here these different tabs and panels and stuff like that, and you can do double split screen at the same time, without working too hard.

You can add anything to that. The functionality of this thing is just, just like any other Samsung device nowadays, because Samsung's putting all of their eggs into one basket: they're, not limiting high-end features to quote-unquote high-end phones. If you want to call them high-end features, basically more functionality, they're not doing that anymore, they're, putting them on all their phones. They want to pull in everybody. Now the difference is going to be the processors inside from their phone spaces to other phones, but other than that.

You pretty much get all the functionality. If you would it just about as the s21 ultra and all the other newer phones out, so software functionality wise, you get more little nip bits and extra little things on the Samsung a52, but personally I prefer to stock android. It's blazing fast. Everything works good on it now the processor's inside. Obviously this is 765 g, and this is the 750 g inside here, but I don't think you'll see too much difference when you talk about uh performance now I didn't hit that in time.

That's for sure I don't think you'll see too much more. When you talk about performance, um you'll see one might closer to open it. A little faster uh or you won't see one might pop open just a little slower. But it's just not it's not substantial enough, oh kind of glitching on me. Look at this.

They wanted to go um you's just not enough to where you'll say. Oh my gosh, you know I'm saying uh. This is much faster. I just think that the stock android experience with Samsung or excuse me android, stock android is just the way to go all right. It's windy out here so take note of that.

But here are both cameras side by side looking through the viewfinder, the pixel appears to be doing everything more accurate and true to life all right. Here's front facing video uh on the Samsung, galaxy, 852, and I'll fire up the pixel here in just a second uh but um, you know through the viewfinder, it's looking pretty good man. It's really windy out, it's cold, but it's not it's a cold breeze! It's maybe 55 60 out here, um but um. You know the a52 is a good value. The house is stacking up against the pixel, all right: here's, the pixels uh front camera shooting in the same spot, here's the a52 um yeah.

What do you think about the pixels quality and how it's handling this footage right now on the front camera all right now, so I'm just standing on the porch um again very windy day out, don't know how this is going to come out? I might have to do a voice-over not sure but um. This just gives you some sense of how the pixels' camera can handle a situation like this all right now. Here we are with the a52 Samsung Galaxy a52 shooting the same spot. Let you see how the footage is whether it can handle this very windy day outside and um. Maybe I won't do a voice over, let's get it now before I talk about cameras battery life now, while this Samsung has a 4500mah battery inside the pixel pulls down just as much, even if not more or better battery life with the lower battery, because remember optimization is key, and so, if you have a bunch of things on your phone that are all these extra things, they use resources, they're called resources, and they could definitely probably weigh you down so the more stock your device is and the less some of these things.

Unless you can optimize it very, very well, remember I have the 8 gig version of this pulling in. If you want to measure screen onto I measure being off of the battery, you guys measure screen on time, I'm off the charger longer on the Pixel 4a 5g. The screen on time is probably balanced. If you ask me between six and eight hours of screen on time on both of these it's a mixed bag, depending on the day and depending on my usage uh, but yeah closing out man, I think I prefer overall, the pixel 45g. I think it's a more consistent device with Google's lineup, and I'm not sacrificing anything by telling the person to get the pixel 45g.

They can grab this at some good pricing, sometimes free. I think some people said they got it for 49 bucks. I don't know different promos for each one of these devices, but I think if I'm going to tell someone to spend 500- and this is just if you're spending 500- I would definitely tell them to go. These two phones go with the pixel 4 a5g. I, like the hardware better on the Samsung.

I think the cameras are all balanced in the match. If I'm being honest, I think the pixels are a little better, but it's not blowing away. The Samsung video, I think, looks perfect on the Samsung pixels. Somehow people think they have bad cameras for video. I don't think so.

I think the footage is great uh, but it's amazing how these sensors are handling the lighting, the same lighting completely different. So obviously I think photos look much better on the pixel 45g, not that they're bad on the a52. It's just the pixel 485g, the pixel cameras are just the kings of photos, and now they're starting to get close in video. So you know good hardware, very good, video, good performance. Everything on the a52 is a great purchase, but if you have 500 and there are no discounts, I would tell you to go with the pixel solely because it's just a clean slate and the performance is going to be there.

The hardware looks better like I said, but it feels better over here. The the rear mounted fingerprint reader way better than the end screen and then the facial recognition on here, even though this has facial recognition, it's its better than using the fingerprint reader I would say, but it's still not that great compared to other phones that have facial recognition and then, when you start to talk about previous year's flagship or some current flagships that are close in price to this 500 price tag. If it has facial recognition, it's probably a little faster than this right here, so overall tough match, but I think the pixel edges it out by just a little. What do you think shaman j see in the next one? Take care.
