Razer Phone 2: Just what exactly IS a gaming phone?

Hey Internet, hey guys, your groupies is your boy is some gadgets guy today talking about razor phone too I mean what even is a gaming phone. You know how I do I'm going to do something bold, I'm, going to review it for 9 gamers. Oh, what's up with this forehead in this chin, you know me I, want my screen cut into I, want my media disrupted with an unibrow in this design, I mean how do you even hold it? It's a rectangle, the conoid state. Everyone can see based on my poorly composed photographs, which can't be compared with any of my other phone reviews, all consistency that this carriage is garbage. If the SEO for this phone were better on YouTube I mean if the cameras were better, I would have taken more care in composing, nicer shots, better luck, next time, razor caning phone smash that Bell icon and hook it up for my next review. Peace.

All right are all the armies gone good. Let's chat I literally had to dust these off I haven't used them in a while for reals I've written the review for this phone three times now and really trying to tame some of my frustrations and how we Weeks talk about gadgets when they're, predetermined by some kind of YouTube zeitgeist to be winners or losers right off the bat. Let's chat, the things that do bother me about the razor phone two others have fairly pointed to the fact that the screen could be a bit brighter. That's absolutely worth considering. If you spend a lot of time in bright outdoor light like I, do Southern California it's usable outside, but it's not great I still, kinda hate glass backs this combination of glass and metal.

The powder coat on the sides is terrifyingly slippery to use naked the phone naked, not me naked. Well that too, like many phones, the aesthetic is largely irrelevant because yes should probably put a case on it, regardless. The main stumbling block for enthusiasts, who might be considering a phone from razor. The audio situation is frustrating for making us live. The dongle life I have a full audio review on the Patreon speaker, samples, headphone jack analysis and some of the issues I faced using Bluetooth and advanced audio codecs like L DAC I've got that linked down below badged as a phone for gamers multimedia content and having some really great front-facing speakers.

The headphone situation is probably the weakest aspect of a high performance platform. That's it. Everything else is very good. ? great. If you've been following my work, you know how much more interested I've been in specialty phones over all-rounder good phones.

Trying to achieve something specific is so much more fun to talk about. The Racer brand has never really tried to position itself as a mainstream competitor to consumer solutions like Dell or HP, while the Racer ? addresses numerous issues for all rounder use. I can't find any rational argument for considering this phone a direct counterpoint to the iPhone. My grandmother uses Oh. My mom is actually a computer scientist, so she is actually digs a lot of what this one has to offer.

It's my mom and my dad who got me hooked on old-school, Atari and Nintendo back in the day, every manufacturer makes a claim when manufacturing a gadget, productivity, security, content creation covering the basics. The razor too is targeting multimedia and gaming, and it's nearly perfectly built for that I'm, not breaking any news by praising the display. A superfast refresh rate is awesome. Hyper crisp sliding through the UI high frame rate, video, looks great and games I can tap into it. Look phenomenal.

We talk about truly differentiating features between different handsets and that's one of them more than the tech prowess. It's one of the few options from last year, which wasn't notched, I hate having my screen disrupted for a lame selfie camera, and this is high-performance hardware. So a greater than HD resolution should be praised more than that, though, I'm so happy to have a forehead and chin bezel I like playing games from my phone having bezels here, help for game controls that often get pushed out to the edges and infinity all screen phones cause thumb cramping. Not only do my thumb's land a little more. Naturally, it's not wasted space thanks to those speakers pointing in the only truly correct direction.

At your face. We get crazy great performance. The razor to now is at the top of the pack for all of my benchmarks, video editing streaming just narrowly edges out the 1 plus 64, rendering and video stabilization falls just behind the honor view.24 video, rendering and maintaining insane sustained performance. The 1 plus 16 is great for playing games, but it's not a gaming phone. Why not? The 1 plus 60 is a screamer, but one of the major trends we should pay attention to is the ability to share gameplay with the community and, if you're, one of those people I can hear yelling at your screen.

Right now, sometimes something general consumers average people don't need that something then congratulations you're starting to understand the nuance and distinction which contributes to a healthier, vibrant and more competitive marketplace where we benefit from a greater number options to choose from I've, set up a couple: high quality streams to run the razor through its paces, hosting directly from the phone, or also connecting it. To my Plato, the HD 60s is cutting two mandatory for the audio routing situation. Thanks to this phone, not having a headphone jack, I streamed to twitch and YouTube. I fired up some Lego star wars. Some alien blackout, gamed for over an hour on each I, also had it connected to my TV and like a dumbass I, had the phone plugged in to charge.

At the same time, the rear of this got up to over a hundred and twenty degrees. Fahrenheit and I saw no degradation in performance. Quick, tangent, it's really dumb to complain about a phone feeling a bit warm to the touch, not explaining differences in hardware. Racer has a vapor unit designed to help expel heat when an iPhone runs warm. We know there's no special hardware handling thermals.

The internals are just kind of cooking a razor too. Like a note, 9 feeling warm is a feature not a bug and I inadvertently. Torture tested that, so you don't have to and it is just fine the corners they hold. My nerve we've had a long tradition of modern, hard, edged gadgets, Sony phones, Nokia phones, corners, are fine, I love having flat sides. The material is both slippery flat.

Surfaces are easier to hold on to and with that bumper case, I invested in this is an excellent boxy shape to hold, especially for its gaming demographic consideration. Beauty can come in all shapes and sizes run time. Battery life surprisingly solid for the performance focus. I, keep everything cranked to the max and running. A video streaming test got just slightly poorer runtime than competing flagship phones.

This is an enthusiast handset, so you have plenty of options for turning those battery draining features down, but I'm. A grown-up and I like that eye. Candy, though, when I'm actually out and about I do turn off the RGB ease I like that, it matches my laptop. But you know it's its a bit much and for having a slightly larger than average battery. We get decent recharged, definitely not leading the pack against Huawei's and one pluses, but plug it in for a little, and you should be able to last the day.

I got to lean in for this one notice in my complaint, I did not mention the camera. This shooter is fine. Anyone claiming it's garbage likely doesn't know how to camera the stock razor camera app doesn't always instill. The most confidence definitely ran into some bugs and some gremlins, but are we Android enthusiasts or not? A third-party camera app will easily fill in any gaps left. If you want to get real fancy a pixel camera APK works a trick.

It doesn't stop me from landing great shots and honestly, the main drawback I ran into was audio capture for video, but it's right in line with the audio capture that you'd get from a pixel. I'll, of course, have a full deep dive on that camera performance in a separate video. My camera reviews our Patreon exclusives, but long story short. If you were considering the razor phone for all the things that does well, I would not be scared away by these cameras pros and cons just like any other phone. Ultimately, all the effort in feigning confusion in razor 2 reviews starts to get a bit grating.

On the one hand, the smartphone market is plateauing, bad and folks are complaining about all the generic sameness between traditional flagships. But if you stray from the accepted phone zeitgeist, then reviewers freaked out but worse, is the overly simplified commentary. Conflating one feature or one spec, with a full phone. Both the razor in the Poco have Snapdragon 805, so they were the same. It's always handy being able to cherry-pick data in one video.

We can complain about one phone's resolution in another video I'll make the deal-breaker aspect ratio. Alright. How about we recycle that gem about on-screen nav button taking up space and screen real estate, except they don't. Gaming phones are a legit niche and nothing is holding this hardware back from delivering a mere Nintendo experience for mobile gaming. We just have real serious issues to deal with in terms of game developers and the Google and Apple app stores which I talked about in a previous video, but we can't fault this Hardware, like a gaming, laptop versus a business laptop, it's powerful and unique, and to that end, it's critical that we have some variants in the niche.

Some competition, where different designs and different features can do battle like when I bought. My razor laptop I wanted something near workstation, powerful, discreet, graphics, Thunderbolt 3 with a high resolution. Touchscreen I didn't want it to look overly Mountain, Dew, fueled, and then I slapped a blue skin on it like a knob, it's not about declaring winners and losers. It's about examining a manufacturer's claim and balancing that against who might be a good fit for that product and ignoring the idea that there is such a thing as an average consumer, and we should be embracing the idea that, since our phones are now commodities that there should be a wider spread of gadgets to fulfill the various and different needs of a huge of a larger spectrum of consumers. But razor phone too is a very select piece of hardware and that's a good thing.

If you were seriously considering this phone and some kind of camera commentary or feature review comparison. Scared you off!
