Yes I'd like to place an order for more good Apple news: hey what's up guys Sam here! Welcome back to another video, and today I mean apple, is on a roll um. In fact, I just want to open today with something that I said in a video uh a couple of weeks back. I am all for special edition apple products like I think, there's some great potential for what apple could do to market some stuff. They haven't done a lot of special edition stuff at all and generally, when they do it. It is for markets outside the US. I'm not saying that I'm jealous I'm just saying it is would.
It would be cool to have that here too. So I want to show you the new limited edition Apple Watch for black history month. That apple is launching alongside new bands. New watch faces talk about the updates throughout today, and also tell you a little about my favorite app of all time that just got a significant update, so drop a like if you're excited hit subscribe for more and let's go, go, go ahead and jump on all right. So kicking things off today there are some new updates out for your favorite devices.
Both iOS 14.4 is out for iPhone uh iPad, OS 14.4 out for iPad and watchOS 7.3 out for your Apple Watch. Watch OS 7.3 includes a new unity watch, face we'll talk more about that momentarily time to walk for apple fitness plus expands the ECG electrocardiogram app to more countries and then iOS 14.4 I've actually extensively talked about in a recent video. It really doesn't add that much at all, you can now scan smaller qr codes. You can classify Bluetooth devices, you get notifications when you don't have a genuine camera installed, there's some new u1 HomePod mini stuff available and then there's a ton of bug fixes. If you want to see more about that click up, and I always forget which side is right, because it's flipped and then editing, it's there's a there's, an eye icon somewhere.
Just please help me out and click it. If you want to learn about 14.4, I don't know which side is which, but really for both of these updates being labeled as, like you know, version. x, which usually means something significant. There really isn't much significant here, there's no like new emojis or wallpapers, or some groundbreaking feature, it's kind of just more of the same and that's okay. You know, I just hope we see some more features ahead of iOS 15 when that launches for developers in June, something, however, that is coming way sooner than that is a new special edition version of the Apple Watch.
Now I know you're like wait. A second, a special edition version. Wait didn't we didn't. We just see special edition, AirPods Pro launch for the Chinese new year and a number of select Asian countries you're right. We did.
Furthermore, we did see that and actually that clip that I played at the beginning was me saying man. This is so cool. I love that apple is doing. You know different uh, meaningful pieces of technology in different parts of the world. Obviously, in America a lot of us here, the Chinese new year- is not as big a deal as it is abroad and, just today, apple announced that they are doing something meaningful in our markets to celebrate the start of black history month.
Now Apple's been going really hard with this stuff, and I appreciate that, because again, every single company was like black square man race through the race of the frigging sucks guys. Let's, let's freaking, kill racism, and I have not heard anything from Amazon, google, Facebook, uh Twitter. I have seen them doing some pretty meaningful work as well, but today, on top of apple's, 100 million dollar donation already to the reg, starting the Reggie, the racial equity and justice initiative on top of expanding new programs to HBCU, historically back college's universities on top of introducing new coding classes apple is launching what they're calling the black unity collection today, which is a new Apple Watch. A new band and a new watch face all right. So, let's take a look at the Apple Watch Series six here.
First, obviously, this is the newest one. This has the blood oxygen monitoring. It's got the altimeter always on display and I believe it starts at like 350 400, it's no more expensive than any other Apple Watch, and that's because physically here apple hasn't changed that much the only different change on the little square. The watch itself is, if you flip it over there's text that says black unity, which is pretty nice. It's in a different font.
It sort of stands out from the rest of the back and uh. Furthermore, it provides some meaning there to what this watch is actually being created to spread awareness about it's not literally just a black watch with a normal sport band. There's something extra here that you won't be getting on any other Apple Watch and apple, says that the watch itself goes on sale February.1St will be available through the entire month of February, but it's not going on sale after that. So if you want one of these watches, if you're looking forward to liking birthday for somebody celebration of any kind, then you have to buy it in February because it does not sound like Apple will be stocking these after the end of the month. The ban to me is actually significantly more special than the watch and the band will actually be on sale year round apple says, I believe they said it's going to go through the end of the year.
I don't know if it'll be like in perpetuity, but definitely throughout the entirety of 2021. This band will be available and at first I was like you know. What do these colors mean? What's the significance? It's absolutely one of the more abstract Apple Watch bands we've ever seen, and I really like the fend shoo of the way the colors work together and apple explains it by saying that the black unity collection plays homage to the rich tradition and craft of quilting, the black community and celebrates the colors of the Pan-African flag, read for the blood that unites people of the African diaspora and was shed for their liberation black for the people whose existence is affirmed by the flag in green for the vibrant natural wealth of Africa, and the thing that makes this more significant to me than anything else is there's actually another special engraving on like the clasp area. Right here it says truth, power solidarity. So that's another special accent that you get exclusively on this Apple Watch band again should be available throughout the end of 2021.
So there's no rush to buy this one, but if you want the watch, you basically got to buy it in February, or it's going to be discontinued. Finally, for the watch face, it changes based on the accelerometer and gyroscope, depending on how you hold it, and it's like creating these unique patterns again, going back to that tradition of weaving, blankets, okay and now for my thoughts on the entire black unity collection right, I've had mixed sort of emotions. I've gone through the day. I saw it first, and I was like yes, a special edition product of the Apple Watch. This is so, so cool.
It's limited edition. It's going to be really, really dope uh, and that was my initial reaction. Furthermore, it's like a fan of what apple does as a company and then rationally my brain came in and said well. What is this special edition? Because, like uh Chinese new year special edition, AirPods is one thing celebrating something fresh? The start of a new beginning, but black history month, has a much deeper history because it's like directly tied to human lives and the black experience, especially like here in the US, obviously globally, as well um- and I don't know I just I got this thing where I was thinking I was like man. I just hope that apple is doing this to really give the majority of the proceeds to the partner organizations fighting for racial equity and justice fighting for black lives, and I was just like man.
I hope that apple is not hopping on this trend to make a profit and profit off of black culture. But this being said, I don't think this is the case and here's why Apple has done a ton of promo, and they've done announcements, and they have done real uh change structurally for the racial equity and justice initiative like if Apple had not done anything else, and it was just like. Oh hey, we've got a new Apple Watch for black history month. I'd be extremely SUS, but this is coming to complement as apple describes it. The racial equity and justice initiative.
On top of 100 million dollars, they've donated on top of highlighting black culture for black history month, I think, if there's a way to do it, they did it right and um. I'm looking forward to seeing this product and going hands-on with it, because it looks great all right, final story for the day the uh the most used app on my iPhone of all time. I think next to YouTube is called tweet bot right. Furthermore, I don't know if you guys are big Twitter users. It's kind of my Achilles heel, like I'm on Twitter all the time I don't know if it's healthy, I don't know what the long-term implications are, but I know I love me.
Some doom scrolling, so tweet bot has been a paid client for twitter for a while and the reason I've always chosen it is. It has timeline sync between like iPhone iPad and mac, so you can always pick up where you left off to not miss anything. It's got incredibly good support for Twitter APIs. They now support things like polls, and they're, adding a ton of other things on the roadmap version.6 supports these new APIs. It adds UI updates and design changes for iOS 14.
It just runs better. A lot of times like tweet bot, would just kind of gradually degrade over time because they would start working on the new version and the new version is here, and it's fantastic. This is not an ad uh, I just love tweet bot, and it's I don't know. I always get really excited about these updates. So if tap bots is watching this, thank you guys.
I'd love to work together, uh for more features and stuff in the future. Thank you for updating, tweet bot and, if you guys want to use the best twitter client on the market, it's tweetbot6 it's out now and uh yeah. I just really love it. I just use it all the time. It's my preferred way to use Twitter.
It's great all right hope. You guys enjoyed this video drop a like. If you did hit subscribe for more I'm Sam, and I will catch you tomorrow.
