OnePlus 9 Camera Review

Hello friends welcome to technique. This is normal here and in this video we're going to do a detailed camera review of the OnePlus 9, so the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 pro were announced last week and both of these devices have great camera hardware, and they are made in partnership with Hasselblad. So Hasselblad is one of the most popular company when it comes to camera lenses and photography and OnePlus 9 packs a 48 megapixel triple camera and a 16 megapixel punch hold selfie camera. So, let's see how OnePlus 9 has improved in terms of camera compared to the OnePlus 8t launched last year. So in terms of camera hardware, the OnePlus 9 comes with a 48 megapixel primary camera, which is a Sony mix 689 sensors with f 1.8, aperture and 7p lens. The secondary camera is a 50 megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, which is a Sony mix 766 sensors with f 2.0 aperture and a 7p lens now. The third camera is a mono sensor, with f 2.4 aperture. Now, moving on to the selfie camera, it's a 16, megapixel, Sony, mix 470, one sensor with f, 2.4, aperture and as is included. So, let's find out how good the camera is, especially with the Hasselblad partnership.

So let's first have a look at the daylight shots here. You can see that the OnePlus 9 produces good details and there is adequate sharpness levels too. The 48 megapixel sensor is made in partnership with Hasselblad and colors are being calibrated to look more natural, but, unlike the OnePlus 9 pro, this is using a different primary sensor. Color looks pretty good for the most part, and the details and sharpness levels are quite good. Even though, when you zoom into the pictures, there is good amount of details and image written decent sharpness levels in bright outdoor light.

Even though there is a bit of noise, which is clearly evident. This is definitely an improvement from the OnePlus 8t launched last year. The dynamic range seems quite good. The phone misses out on the telephoto lens, which is available on the OnePlus 9 pro. The phone has a 50 megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, and this is the highlight of the camera, as you can take some stunning ultrawide captures of landscapes similar to the OnePlus 9 pro the colors are good and there is good dynamic range as well.

The distortion is minimal and works really well. The sharpness lens is also impressive. Moving to the close-up shots, you can see that it produces good images with good details, but the sharpness levels are in great, though the phone also supports macro mode, and this is automatically toggled using the ultra-wide angle lens, although you can do it manually as well. The macro shots came out quite good, with good colors and decent sharpness levels, and this is once again a massive improvement from the OnePlus 8t. Now moving on to the portraits the OnePlus 9 portraits were not very impressive, unlike the OnePlus 9 pro here, you can see.

Prominence of the red in processing leads to a very warm tone, also by default. The camera is set to 2x digital zoom for portraits, and here the images are a bit too soft. It is better to go with the 1x option for portraits, as it gives better details and sharpness levels. The edge detection is quite good, though next moving on to the low light images, the phone does a decent job in indoor lighting conditions or artificial light, but when light drops further in extreme conditions, you can clearly see that the noise levels are definitely on the higher side for a flagship smartphone in this price category. Also, another major issue is that low light images can be shaky due to lack of is, and this is clearly evident.

The only way to negate this is to turn on the night mode, where you get better results with good sharpness levels. Finally, the 16 megapixel selfie camera. Here you can see that the phone produces good selfies. Although the skin tones are not really accurate, but it will place most of the uses. The sharpness levels are quite okay and dynamic range is also good.

Since selfies are more of a personal choice, you can judge based on the clarity shown here. The phone also has portrait selfies and the edge detection looks good. So this is the front facing camera sample taken with the OnePlus 9, which can record videos in fps2 at 1080p resolution. So you can judge yourself, output, the clarity of the videos and also the audio output from the front camera on the OnePlus 9. Next, moving on to the video quality here, the phone can take 8k videos at 30, fps and the quality is quite ok.

There are good details and colors are more or less accurate too, and the sharpness levels are also quite ok. The stabilization works decently well, and it is the as in action. The 4k, 860 fps. Video quality is also great once again with stabilization. It looks quite okay, but it is not as good as the OnePlus 9 pro.

The clarity and sharpness levels are good in the video, since it is using as. Stabilization comes with a crop which is almost 1.5 x, moving to the 4k at 30 fps, while the details and sharpness levels are good. The lack of is actually shows up. Vi's works quite well, but not a very smooth one, especially when panning in the video. The phone has 1080p at 60, fps and also 1080p at 30fps, and you can do digital zoom in the video.

According to once again, the stabilization is quite good, but you can see some hiccups when moving around with a camera and panning the ultra-wide angle. Camera can do 4k and 1080p resolution at 30 and 60 fps, and it does a perfect job in terms of quality and provides good stabilization. Also, the phone can also do slow motion in 240 and 120 fps, and the quality looks quite okay. This is the video portrait mode of the OnePlus 9. As we can see now the background is being blurred, so you can see how good the background is and also the edge detection.

So do you think this is a really great feature, so summing up how good is OnePlus 9 camerae as a successor to OnePlus 8t? Unlike the OnePlus 9 pro, the OnePlus 9 is a massive upgrade over the mediocre OnePlus 80 launched last year with good daylight, imaging ultra-wide good macros, along with improved low light. It is a massive upgrade over the OnePlus 8t in terms of camera performance, but having said that, OnePlus still needs to work on the camera, especially for the price segment of 50k. We still can't figure out why is was removed from the OnePlus 9. We are hoping OnePlus will work on the camera with software updates in the future, so that is the detailed camera review of the OnePlus 9 hope you enjoyed watching this video do hit that like button and also hit that subscribe button for more videos, thanks for watching hope to see in our next video have a great day.
