iPhone 12 vs iPhone 6s Speed Test

What's going on everybody, this is ultimate device AIDS and today, in this video, we're going to be doing a speed test between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 6s, and with the time that I'm making this video, the iPhone 6s is currently the oldest iPhone. That still supports the latest iOS version at the time being. Io's 14. - and this is quite impressive. Considering that the iPhone 6s came out all the way back in 2015. So I'm curious to see how the oldest iPhone currently supported by the latest iOS in the newest, iPhone compare in a speed test, we're going to be doing a variety of tests, including a boot up test, app launching tests, a web browsing test, a biometrics test, a geek bench test and an an tutu benchmark test.

First up. I want to show you guys that both of these devices are running the latest iOS version. As of recording this video being iOS 14.1, let's go ahead and kick things off with the boot up test, so we're going to turn both of these devices off, and we're going to connect them to a power strip, and then we're going to turn the power strip on powering on both of the iPhones at the same time, and it's definitely worth mentioning that a boot up test is not representative of how a device is going to perform in all areas. It's just interesting to see, and I'm not going to cut anything out of this portion of the video. I want you guys to see the uncut boot time and, as you can see here, they basically booted up at the same time.

But if you wanted to declare winner the 6s booted up a split second before the 12. , so interesting result there and with the app switchers cleared on both devices, let's do some app launching tests so starting off with some lighter applications you can see here. The 12 is definitely quicker. I mean it shouldn't come as any surprise, but, as you can see there, especially with these later applications, it's really not that big of a difference, as you can see, it's only a second or less of a delay with these lighter applications, especially and a similar trend continues. When we get into some lighter games like subway surfers here, you can see again there's that definite advantage on the 12 as to be expected, but the 6s holds up very well.

So you know it's quite impressive. I think, as I said earlier, that this device not only still runs the latest iOS, but that it's still such a usable device in day-to-day tasks and continuing with a few more games. Next up is Minecraft here which, just like the previous applications, follows the same trend: the iPhone 12 loads, it is a few seconds ahead of the 6s moving on to temple run next. Once again, you can see not that long of a delay and moving on to San Andreas and the most important thing for San Andreas is actually starting the game itself. So we'll do that at the same time, and once again you can see there just a few seconds behind on the 6s, but you know, as you can see once it actually gets into the intro sequence of the game.

It's running fine on both devices. It's just a little ahead on the iPhone 12. And next up we're going to launch asphalt 9. Now this application can definitely take a while to launch, especially on older devices, but also on newer devices. So I'm just going to go ahead and speed up the video until one of them opens it up, which of course, without a doubt, is the iPhone 12 and the 6s does take quite a while to open this game, and this is a common trend whenever I use asphalt 9 in a speed test, because it's such a heavy CPU intensive app.

So that being said, it shouldn't come as a surprise that it takes a while on the 6s next up, we're going to do a consecutive app launching test, so we're going to launch the same applications on both devices one after the next, and we're going to show them side by side to show any speed differences and with the app switchers cleared on both let's start off with some lighter applications and as you can see, without a doubt, the 12 does have that edge over the success. But that being said, the 6s is keeping up perfectly fine. Of course, you're not going to be getting the world's fastest experience of the success. But I think the biggest takeaway here is: you can see it's completely usable with day-to-day applications and the same thing applies when we get into some lighter games here: subway, surfers, etc. It definitely takes longer, but it does a perfectly fine job at handling these tasks so again, very impressive, just such a good value of a device that came out all the way back in 2015 that it's still able to be so usable in 2020 and in addition to the fact that it's able to run the latest version of iOS as we get into some heavier applications.

Of course, you'll start to notice the 6s falling more behind, but once again the point being that it's totally usable just a little slower. So I'm just going to go ahead and speed through the remainder of the consecutive app launching test, and, of course the 12 does finish. First, but again, the 6s does a fine job just taking longer alright. So next up I'd like to run a synchronized biometrics test on both of these so face I'd unlock on the iPhone 12 and touch I'd unlock on the iPhone 6s and, as you can see, they're both extremely quick and real quick. I just want to load a few web pages in safari.

Definitely keep in mind that web browsing tests largely depend on your internet connection, but let's start off with apple. com, so you can see there a little quicker on the 12, and we'll do the verge. com as well. Basically, the same, maybe a little quicker on the 12. Next, I want to run a geek bench test, so we're just going to go into geek bench and run a benchmark and as to be expected pretty considerable jumps in both the single in multi-core scores, considering the age difference of these devices, and we're also going to run an an tutu benchmark test and once again has to be expected, a considerable jump in the numbers so as you've seen throughout this video, the 6s as to be expected does show its age when being compared against the latest iPhone.

But that being said, it still performs pretty well in 2020 and is totally usable if you guys use either of these devices. Let me know down below in the comments section what your experience with performance is like. Thank you guys so much for watching this video, and I'll catch you in the next one peace out.
