With, the launch of the brand-new m1 iPad Pro with its screaming performance inside it. It is the ultimate creators tool, so people who love to do music, editing, video, editing, photography, editing. It is the best all-in-one package you can get. Having said that, we still do have the m1 MacBook Pro 13-inch, and this has been around for ages, and this is basically the main creators' device that loads of apple users and loads of developers and creators have been using for years. Is it even worth considering buying one of these anymore? Well, I think you'll be surprised. So, at the end of last year, in 2020 apple pushed the bar with their brand-new Apple Silicon, m1 chipset that was put into the Mac mini the MacBook Air and also the MacBook Pro 13-inch now come over to April 2021.
We all have a brand new iMac with the m1 chipset and surprisingly, we also have the iPad Pro. What also has this great kind of chipset inside it now the iPad Pro has been known as a creator's paradise and with this extra performance it is really amazing. We got the chipset at the end of last year and inside it, we have a CPU. What gives us four efficiency cores and four power cores as well or performance cores, and it is a real screamer in performance. We also get an 8 core GPU as well inside this chipset, in how the iPad Pro is probably going to perform with this chipset inside it.
We believe it will be very similar to the MacBook Air. Now. The reasoning behind this is the new MacBook Air with a m1 chipset inside it does not have a fan inside, whereas the MacBook Pro 13 inches does so. We believe that performance will probably be on par, but the main thing is so. What you've got to see here on this geek bench scoring system here on the geek bench 5 is, as you can see.
Basically, the Mac mini the MacBook Pro 13-inch, and also the MacBook Air are all within each other with their m1 performance. In fact, I could actually argue here that, probably maybe on the Mac mini compared to say the MacBook Pro right here. You probably actually get probably about one frames per second, more possibly in the game. Even that, to be honest, it probably might even be half a frame per second you're, not really going to see the difference. But the main thing is what you can tell here.
If the iPad Pro has this m1 chipset inside it, it's going to be absolutely amazing but, as I said, the MacBook Pro 13-inch and also the new iPad Pro with the m1 do share a lot of technologies, not just m1. For example, they both have the ability to be configured with either 8 gigs or 16 gigs of ram. They both support, thunderbolt, 4 or usb4 on their USB ports. They both also use the same source of storage as well how they write to in their speeds. However, with the MacBook Pro you do get some other options, as the base model were slightly larger than the iPad Pro.
However, though, you can configure an iPad Pro m1 up to two terabytes of storage. If you really want to now sticking with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and that's what I want to stick with the screen, size is basically the same as the MacBook Pro 13 inches it's 0.1 of an inch smaller. It is basically the same size. However, the iPad Pro, if you just buy it as it is, it will cost you 1099 us dollars, but remember with that guys, you won't actually get like a keyboard, or you won't also get a trackpad what you get with a MacBook Pro 13-inch. However, there is the option to buy this, and it's known as the magic keyboard for the MacBook Pro, but this will set you back 349 us dollars for the 12.9 inch model, and if you add this together with the iPad Pro, it will cost you 1448 us dollars to get that base model iPad Pro and also the magic keyboard, whereas the MacBook Pro would only cost you 1299 us dollars. So, as you can see there, it's going to save you a lot of pennies for going for the MacBook Pro instead of the iPad Pro with the m1 chipset inside it.
Well, one thing that you won't need to spend more pennies on, and that is our giveaway that we are doing on this channel. If you are going to be that winner make sure you subscribe to this channel and at the same time as well hit that notification bell, because you don't want to miss that. Well, let's do some features, comparisons between the iPad, pro m1 and also the m1 MacBook Pro 13-inch. Well, let's start with the iPad Pro, and we've got to talk about that screen. First, it comes with the Dr liquid retina display.
What is a whole new screen compared to previous iPads that has ever been used. It is super sharp. It gives fantastic colors, fantastic contrast, and on top of that as well, it also has pro motion inside it and what this basic means it will give you a 120, hertz refresh rate, for example the MacBook Pro or any of the MacBook Pro lineup at this stage, does not offer a screen like this. So straight away. The iPad Pro is way ahead in its screen technology.
Not only that, because it's an iPad- and everybody knows this- it also has a touchscreen loads of us have got so used to using touch screens on our phones and on our iPads and tablet devices that we absolutely love it, and we can't live without it. So if you're, a person who loves touching around on an iPad that does sound quite dodgy, but I think you're getting the idea if you do love using your fingers instead of using the mouse on the iPad Pro or even if you wanted to, you, can still use that magic keyboard. The idea is, is that the ability is there? Also, on top of that as well. You can also buy the Apple Pencil accessory, and this is absolutely fantastic for taking down notes or, for example, if you're doing art and, for example, you're using say photoshop. It is absolutely brilliant to get that precision inside apps like that for creators.
However, again the MacBook Pro does not have the ability to use a pencil, but you do get the keyboard, and you also do get a large touchpad on the actual MacBook Pro and a lot of people love using the touchpad, because they've got used to it over the years, and maybe they're not used to using something like a touchscreen and a pencil on an iPad Pro to get that position in satellite photoshop. Next of all, let's talk about cameras, so the iPad Pro m1 is the complete all one in package. It has two cameras on the back and a LIDAR sensor, I'll talk about in a second. But let's stick to the front right now it has this brand-new selfie camera on the very front, and it also has this new option called center stage and center stage allows you to for the camera, to follow you and keep you in focus and also zoom in also, if somebody else gets added into the picture somebody else joins in it will zoom out and accommodate for both of you inside that camera. What's absolutely amazing, on the back, we also have two camera lenses there.
We have a wide and an ultra-wide lens. What are really, really amazing and basically been stolen away from the iPhone and put inside the iPad Pro. We also have the LIDAR sensor, so if you are into AR and all sorts of things like that, this is absolutely perfect. The MacBook Pro, on the other hand, doesn't offer anything sophisticated like this. In fact, what the MacBook Pro actually gives you is an old 720p webcam.
Next of all, a big feature. What has come along to the iPad Pro is 5g to give it again that all complete package, you can just take your iPad Pro out and know you can be connected to to inter using cellular, but there again there is the option that most of us have our mobile phones or cellular phones or iPhones inside our pocket all the time, and there is that hotspot availability to do that to your iPad? In fact, you can do that hotspot to your MacBook Pro. So maybe this might not be a big issue for you. If you can just do that anyway, you still would be connected to the internet out and about the next comparison is a big one, and that is down to the software. What is on both devices now, for example, the mac books and all the MacBook range have always come with macOS.
Now, macOS is built on an over 20 years foundation, well, macOS 10, that is since around 2000 and each year or every couple of years it has got better and better with its experience. Apple know how to get the best out of Big Sur, for example in the latest Apple software. What you can get on your MacBook Pro, and it has been optimized to work with m1 chipset, that is super snappy and fast on macOS. There are far more third-party apps as it were, and software what you don't just have to get from the app store you can get from the internet and just download onto your MacBook Pro and run along, and especially with the compatibility of Rosetta 2, so say. For example, a piece of software is mainly been designed for intel.
It will be translated to work with m1 architecture on side. Your MacBook Pro 13 inches in comparison, though, for example with iPadOS. What is based on iOS, what we get on our iPhones and iPod touches, for example, it is super snappy, super quick, and it is a really, really fast interface. Lots of people have got used to this kind of interface because of using iPhones, for example. So if you come from an iPhone and never used a mac before going to an iPad is probably going to be a far easier experience for you, the downside, with basically with iPadOS is.
There is some kind of creator tools out. There are really, really amazing for the iPad, but, for example, you can't get. For example, like Final Cut Pro, you can't get the full version of Adobe Premiere for video editing either there is rush adobe rush, but that's something different completely, and it's a much more watered down version of Adobe Premiere, but nothing really exists out there. For example, a full-on kind of pro experience on the iPad, the same with music, for example. There is no Logic Pro on side, the iPad.
You only get GarageBand from apple, and really it does not give you the same experience at all. If you are a real pro user, you would love to use Logic Pro if you're into music development. However, with saying all of this, things could change at WWDC this year, especially with the m1 chipset now inside the iPad, pro apple could possibly roll out Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro, for example, on the iPad. What would be absolutely amazing, and basically with that, would bring the iPad probably into the same ball game as the MacBook pros or the macOS software or devices that use that, and it would be a really, really hard comparison or really hard choice to know which one to pick. The conclusion is this, though, guys, if you want to get yourself an iPad Pro, and you want it to be a MacBook or laptop replacement, and you get yourself the magic keyboard, for example.
Yes, it will cost you more than a MacBook Pro 13-inch. However, you will get that amazing new display. You also get a touchscreen as well, and you can also use things like the Apple Pencil, and you can take it around, and it's basically an all-in-one amazing package with, like those cameras, 5g cellular. However, right now there isn't full set of, as it were pro apps out there like. We talked about like Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro, but this may change very, very soon with the MacBook Pro 13-inch.
You might consider buying this because, like I said there are far more third-party apps but onto the software onto macOS also macOS is far more well-grounded more established. At the same time, also, at the same time, you also get that keyboard. You get the trackpad all inside, because it's basically a laptop, so you're going to get that straight away. I think what basically we're trying to say here it comes down to preference, if you're a person who loves basically using a pen and using your fingers to do things, go with the iPad Pro if you're a person, who's more traditional and loves, doing the creative stuff on a laptop or something like that. Basically, I would basically pick a MacBook Pro.
Instead, however, you can't go wrong in either choice. Well, guys, it is now time to wrap up this video. So if you have liked it, please do press the like button and at the same time as well.
