This is my Google Pixel 3 reveal I'm going to be reviewing these smaller pixel three brethren here for this video I don't have the Excel model. It's not that I, don't like the excellent model, actually don't mind. The notch I have used it in person and I, really don't notice the notch when I use it. If I'm going to be honest, I'm, a student and I just didn't have the money to get the bigger phone, so I got the smaller one. I'm going to go ahead and talk about the design and build quality of this phone I only open the box you're getting a 5.5 inch display, which is a huge improvement over last year's pixel 2 V display itself is just much more vibrant. The colors pop off more off the screen, so the pixel to last year had a 5-inch display this one's coming in at 5.5 inches, so you're getting a little more screen real estate, but still in a compact size. As for the body itself, it is all glass, and it is rocking a Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and this also means you're going to be getting wireless charging, which is gonna, be pretty nice, I have to, say, though this phone here it feels amazing it feels so premium to hold in the hand glass back just feels so nice to rub your fingers on I'm, actually kind of addicted to touching my phone, and it feels so much more premium than last year's pixel -.
Although what sucks are that this phone is a fingerprint magnet on the back and on the front of the display, so I would recommend slapping a case on this thing, maybe getting a screen protector. Additionally, it is worth noting that there is no headphone jack, but what Google does to compensate this is that it does come with USB, see earbuds, and they're, actually, surprisingly, useful. They sound great for in box headphones that you get for free, like there's. No complaints about that I really love about these Pixel Buds is that it's actually completely tailored and worked seamlessly with Google Assistant. So, for example, these earbuds will ping in your ear.
When you get new notifications, it will also read out messages, calendar events and other important information to you right at your ears. Hopefully, my favorite feature, though, is that if we do hold down this black button here, it acts as a Google Assistant button, pull it down, and you talk to Google assistant. How do you normally would, and I just find that to be very, very convenient? It's also worth mentioning that the fingerprint reader is still the top bit on the back. There are two cameras in the front of the display, a wide-angle one and a regular one, and it also still has the wider rear facing camera on the back and then on the front of the display. You do have your front firing speakers, which, surprisingly get very loud in my opinion, like a noticeably louder versus to pick someone in the pixel ? from my test at least my phone like vibrates from how loud it can get I, don't know if it's just the phone that I have but very impressed with the front firing speakers, as for performance, you're going to be getting Android 9.0 right out of the box, and it runs buttery smooth. This one is getting a lot of slack for the specs under the hood.
That's running a snapdragon, 845 and 4 gigabytes of RAM. It's important to remember, though, that specs don't tell the whole story in real-world. Performance is what matters and from my testing, Google still lives up to offering the smoothest pure Android experience you can find on any smartphone today. Something worth noting about Android 9.0 is the new gesture based navigation on the phone. So, for example, one swipe up will show you all the apps that are currently running on your phone.
An additional swipe up will bring you to the app drawer. If you already are in an app, you can do a long swipe up, and you can actually directly get into the app drawer. Oh, just something you actually couldn't do before. So that's a nice bonus by Google. Also, if you swipe left on the home button here, it'll take you back to the previous app that you were using anymore.
If you long hold the home button, and you just move your finger left to right, it will actually quickly navigate through all the apps. A lot faster I, don't mind the new gestures for the most part, but it is definitely something that you need to get used to as on adjusted to it. One thing I don't like about the gestures is actually the long swipe up to the app drawer I find that it's just very clunky, and it doesn't really work the way that I want it to I, find that when you go for the long swipe up, it's almost as if the phone wants you to stop at the middle, where you swipe between all of your apps and then swipe again to get to your app drawer, make a weird jitter effect that you can't really notice or feel unless you try it out in person. I think this is a quick fix. I think this just has something to do with the animation itself.
Furthermore, I, don't know if anybody else is experiencing this, but this is just from my testing onto everybody's favorite part. Let's go ahead and talk about the camera of this phone. It was very rainy and dark out today, so I couldn't get really well-lit pictures, but the pixel 3 absolutely crushed it in low-light, as you can see through the photos on the screen, I can honestly tell you that the Google Pixel 3 still were changed to two life. Colors it retains a lot of detail, has the right exposures, even in brighten, up some images at night all right. So this is a front-facing wide-angle video test of the pixel 3, and what you're seeing right here now is the rear-facing video test shooting in 4k on the pixel 3 as well.
The new camera features are always welcome as well. The new top shot feature in this camera actually uses a had to figure out what the best photo was for that shot. So if somebody was blinking when he took a photo, Google actually would have retained a lot of information and actually would have selected a photo that had everybody's eyes open. Also, I really do like the new wide-angle camera on the front of this phone. They can get super wide, and you can include a lot of people in the shot and I think this is gonna, be a huge dealbreaker for a lot of people who take a lot of selfies, because this is the best phone for that there's so much to mess around with and play around with a new camera on this phone.
It can be a completely separate video, but I'm just going to give you some offices and say that this is probably the best camera on the market today for an Android phone. As for battery life on this phone, it is running a 2900 William hour battery, which is pretty decent. Nothing too playing about. You will definitely get a full day's use out of this phone, but don't expect this phone to be running any marathons for you anytime soon definitely do expect to have to charge it at night to use it the next day. Luckily, though, it does come with fast charging and the wireless charging standard, she does offer fast charging as well through wireless charging, so that that's nice too.
So at the end of the day, is the Google Pixel 3 worth the money. It does start at 799 US dollars, which is pretty expensive, and I think to really understand if this phone is worth it for you. You have to ask yourself a couple of questions. If the camera is one of the most important things to you, and you want the best most consistent pictures out of an Android smartphone, the Google Pixel 3, really is the best phone for that. If you're looking for an Android phone, that offers perfect performance, good battery life, good design and doesn't really compromise too much on the price, it's hard to recommend the pixel 3 because phones, like the OnePlus 60, really do rival the pixel 3 in a lot of those categories for a much cheaper price.
But what I will say is that if price isn't a factor- and you want the best Android experience- that an Android phone has to offer, I really do believe. The Google Pixel 3 is that phone offers buttery smooth performance, you're going to get the latest Android updates for the years to come. You're going to have the best camera on the market, with good design, good, build quality and a battery life. That's gonna! Last you through the whole day, there's not much else that this thing can't do for you.
