Hello everybody welcome back to another video with LIM reviews. Today, I'm super excited to share with you my almost one-month review of the ASUS before 8. Now this device here is a very compact device by powers. It packs a punch in this little guy right here, so I'm very excited to share with you my entire experience after using this little boy here for one month now, all right. So these days, most smartphones are just getting more and more powerful they're, also getting larger and larger. For example, we have the flip right here.
This is a massive device. I also have the ROG phone five right here, uh all from the ASUS family, but yeah very surprised to actually see ourselves coming out with a very small device like this. In fact, let me just show you the size difference guys. This is how different the size is: uh between the small guy and the big guy right here but, like I said, it's packing quite a lot of features, and it is actually a very, very good phone to use. I would actually compare this to something like a pocket rocket.
If you get what I mean, because it's just that good guys all right so in this video, I'm going to be sharing with you, everything that I like about this device and, of course, there's a couple of stuff that I still do not fancy about this ASUS before 8, but we'll go through all that, just in case you're wondering whether you should purchase this ASUS before 8. , alright guys! So before I start this video. I just want to say that if you support the channel, uh don't forget to give it a like. That is very much appreciated. Of course, if you want to see more content like this feel free to sub to the channel yep, let's begin with the video right away, all right, so first up we're just going to begin with the design and the build quality of the ASUS before 8 that I have right here.
So after watching a couple of videos on YouTube. Personally, I feel that the videos do not do the phone justice. What I mean by that is from the videos itself. The device looks very plastic, and it doesn't look that good. In fact, some of you guys are even mentioning the offset between the camera, like it's just somewhere on the back panel right here but uh.
In actual fact, based on my experience again, I actually really love the materials being used on this ASUS before 8. So it has this very nice, a soft and very silky smooth kind of back panel right here, and this is actually quite solid guys. It's not just like a cheap plastic kind of feeling, so it doesn't at all feel like a cheap device or a mid-range device by all means. Okay, and if you take a look at the sides here, we do have this very nice, fully blacked out aluminum frames with a very bright blue, colored, lock power button here, which you can use to power up a quick shortcut or something like that. So it's very nice here everything is just blacked out in this device right here it looks very stealthy guys in person.
So if you just move down to the bottom of the device here, you actually get to see that again we have our type c part. We have a very nice speaker. This has zero speakers by the way, and, yes, you do notice that we have a LED indicator at the bottom. So right now it's flashing red because my device is running out of juice, so I have to get this video done very quickly, but on the other side, here is very clean and at the top here guys look at this. We do have the headphone jack on a full flash powered up device right here.
So that is definitely something that I appreciate, because I still occasionally use wired headsets all right. So that's that enough with the build quality. What you really need to emphasize right here is the size because it fits so well in one hand, honestly speaking, it is a little smaller for my liking, but again, if you're looking for a small device, this is what you might want to check out. Uh. One thing I do need to point out that I don't really like about this device is that the back panel is a bit too smooth, and it's super slippery guys.
So, if you're going to use this device um, you should use the case that came in the box and yep mine looks a little worn out because I've been using it over the couple of weeks now, and this offers a lot of grip. So all you need to do snap it on, and you get this case, like I said from the box itself, which is pretty good flipping the device to the front. Here we do uh, we are greeted with a 5.9 inch AMOLED display, but before I go on to the display, I just want to talk a little about that in display fingerprint scanner. So this works pretty well. What you need to do is, of course, just put your finger on there for a couple of seconds, and it unlocks the device.
So what based on my experience, this in-display fingerprint scanner here- has been kind of a hit-and-miss occasionally. Sometimes it unlocks really fast like what you can see right now, but sometimes it takes a couple of presses to actually get into the display. So this is what you need to know about the in-display fingerprint scanner all right now, back to the display, we have a very compact 5.9 inch, AMOLED display that is running at 1080p, but because it is such a small size right here, you're actually getting very high resolution, and what I mean by that is the PPI count on this guy right here is close to about 440 PPI, and that is very high guys. You don't actually need a 2k display right here, because the pixel density is already very high. Apart from that, we have very great contrast: levels awesome, brightness levels.
I brought this device outdoors, and I never had any issues with seeing the display of it directly under the sun. So that's perfect there. But another thing that you need to take note of here is that this device does come with 120hz, refresh rate, so hear that guys, the more expensive ASUS before 8 flip only comes with 90 hertz, but this guy comes with 120 hertz. So what that means obviously, is that everything is very smooth uh. If you just check out my Instagram right here.
It is watery smooth guys so very, very nice display- and it also supports HDR 10 plus so watching. Videos on Disney plus, like I have here Netflix as well, is a really awesome experience, although you do need to know that, obviously, because it's a smaller display so yep, it is a little smaller, but yeah everything runs very fine here. I love the display guys. This is a very, very high quality display that you're getting on the ASUS before 8. All right next thing I want to talk a little about here is the performance.
Now this guy here is running the snapdragon 888. It comes with 128 gigabytes of fast storage, UFS 3.1 and, of course it also comes with 8 gigabytes of ram. So it's pretty good here. Let me just show you a very quick uh geek bench score that I got for this device right here. So I did do the geek bench test and what you can see here is a very strong score.
It got more than 1100 for the single core and 3500 plus for the multicore score right here, so yep. It's definitely performing very well in terms of the benchmarks, but in terms of day-to-day use, how does it feel like to launch apps? Let me just show you right away. You can see on the display right here, so it's very fast. Obviously Instagram launches up very quickly. If you just go into your camera bam, it just starts up.
You go into your gallery. It's also very fast. Everything is blazing fast if you're using this for basic operating stuff all right, but let me touch a little on the gaming factor of this device right here. What I need to point out is for games that are very graphic intensive, like Henson impact, and if you go to pub g mobile, and you go with the highest gaming the highest graphics settings right there, you can go up to ultra HD or FYI. It does get pretty warm guys.
So what I mean by pretty warm is that the processor was calculating the temperatures to be about 46 to 47 degrees Celsius, and, at that point, honestly speaking, it feels very hot to the touch. It reminds me very much of the mi 11 when I was testing out the gaming as well. It was just so warm that you don't really want to hold the phone anymore to game. So not only was the hit on the entire back panel here, but even while touching the display and playing your games, you feel that the display also heats up. So it's a very unpleasant experience.
Of course, this is only if you are gaming at the highest graphics that you might want to try out. But my personal advice here is, of course you know you have the higher specs, but maybe drop it. A notch or two to get that sweet spot in between balancing the heat as well as the performance. So that's what I can say about games like junction impact and PUBG. So if you're another gamer like myself, I play a lot of mobile legends, or maybe you play lighter graphic games like subway surf.
Then you have no issues there. It is very cool. It goes up to about 38 degrees Celsius, which, honestly speaking, is a very common thing. So no complaints about that there uh one more thing. I think that I should mention here as well, is if you're playing games like mobile legends or wall riff, for that matter, so obviously you're having a 5v5 kind of gameplay and the display is a little too small, and it does get a little difficult to actually uh fight the game, because everything is so small.
All the heroes are so tiny and the crops are even smaller, but yeah. That's what you do get with a smaller display, all right guys. So that's the performance. Next thing I want to talk a little about is the cameras at the back. So, as you can see here, this device here comes with two cameras, only so two straightforward sensors.
We have a 64 megapixel main sensor, and we also have an ultrawide sensor here that caters to all your needs. So we don't have any dev sensor or macro lens here, which is totally uh not necessary at all. So you get to save a bit of cost there and yep in terms of the cameras guys, I did find that the quality of images coming from this device right here again is surprisingly good. So, yes, it is using the sensors from last year. It's not the latest sensor, and you don't get that on the ASUS before 8, but I must say that the image quality taken during the day is very pleasant.
You have nice colors, very, very natural kind of skies, so you don't see over saturated kind of images from what you can take from the ESO before 8 everything looks very natural and when you go indoors, it's also very punchy in terms of the color. So that's what I kind of like there. Now, when you take the device at night and night mode is also a pretty good job being done on the ASUS before 8 here uh. The only thing I might call out here is that there's a bit of lens flare when you're taking uh pictures of like lights and objects like that. But overall, I think that the image quality coming out from the ASUS before 8 here is a really pleasant.
Surprise again, like I mentioned it, is not using the latest set of sensors here, but it does do the job pretty well, and I'm pleased with the cameras right here. Alright. So that's this in terms of the camera. Next thing I want to talk a little about here are the stereo speakers, so we have speakers at the top and bottom and guys. This is one of the better speakers here and what I mean by that is the audio comes out from it feelings very rich.
It gets pretty loud as well, in fact, if I put it side by side with the ASUS before 8 flip again sorry to compare that with this guy. But yes, the audio actually sounds a bit better from this little monster right here, all right guys. So that's the kind of audio quality you can expect to get from the ASUS before 8. Uh. It does get a bit uh shaky at the back, like you do feel some vibrations at the back because of that speaker, but guys.
This is a very nice speaker here, very rich kind of sound coming out from this guy, and if you don't like the sound there, you can always plug in your own wired earphones to listen to music on the ASUS before 8. , alright guys. Last but not least, let's talk a little about the battery in this guy. Now the ASUS before 8 here only comes with 4 000 William hours of battery and in my testing so far this is one of the main downsides here. Although 4000 my sounds a bit big, but I'm not getting the best battery life here, I'm going to be straight up honest with you, so I've played like based on my usage when I play about three games of mobile legends uh.
I take about like 20 minutes of photos. I watch a bit of YouTube and Instagram here and there the screen on time for this guy is only four hours, and it is quite poor if you ask me, so that's definitely one of the downsides of the ASUS before 8, and I'm quite disappointed here, but the battery life is definitely not the best. Of course. If you don't game a lot, and you don't take a lot of photos, I mean, if you only use your phone to browse the internet or search on social media and all that you could probably get through a day perfectly fine. But if you do some gaming occasionally here and there take some photos here and then like what everyone do you can expect to your know, maybe one full day on one single charge might be a slight stretch.
So, apart from that, another thing that I didn't really like here was the charging speeds. Now the 30 watt charger that came in the box is definitely good for us because you hear 30 watts, you think it will be fast, and this device here, like I said, also supports up to 30 watt of fast charge, but again, unfortunately, for ASUS their fast charging isn't fast enough, and what I mean by that is that it goes from zero to 100 in more than an hour guys it's one hour and 20 minutes as advertised and that's the kind of speeds I'm actually getting here. So it's quite a slow charger, uh kind of device right here and if you compare it to like Xiaomi or Oppo or maybe even OnePlus, they go from zero to 100 in like what 40 minutes. So this takes 80 minutes guys. So it's double the time that you take to charge up your device and again, if you're, like me, you're used to fasting charging like proper, fast charging, you will find the charging on the ASUS before 8 very slow.
So my only downside is the battery and the charging speeds for this guy right here. All right guys. I think I've covered pretty much everything that you might want to know or need to know about the ASUS before 8 again, if you're considering to buy this device. I hope this video has helped you out, so everything is still very good with the ASUS before 8. We have a great display, great, build quality, awesome sounding speakers very strong processing power and all that the only downside is the battery life and as well as the charging speeds, which I think is a bit short uh, a shortfall for this device right here all right guys.
I think that's it for this video. I hope you've learned something from this video as well uh. If you do support the channel, don't forget to give a like a sub to the channel. If you want to see content like this, and I'll see you guys in the next one bye.
