What is going on everyone. My name is Jason, and this is the iPhone 10 are, so you think it's just starting to wear so rounding out the last of apple's, 2018 smartphone lineup next to their two dedicated flagships, the iPhone 10s and the tennis max is the hotly positioned and oddly named iPhone 10 honor. Now there's been a considerable amount of hype around the 10r before its release, and many feel as though that this has the potential to be the hottest iPhone out of all three launched this year in terms of potential sales. Ironically, there's also been an equal amount of trash talk about this phone. Due to the questions around some of apple's design choices with the 10 off. Well, it wouldn't be an Apple device without some kind of disagreement, so I picked one up on Friday to see what I would think with the 10r and I thought.
I'd put this video together to share my first impressions in case you're interested in maybe scooping one up now before we get into the review, if you're into checking out the latest consumer tech products before you buy them or if you're, just a tech head like me, I make a video like this every single week, so make sure that you hit that subscribe button and turn on that Bell icon. So you can be the first to know when a new Jr review is out, and you don't miss anything. That being said, let's get into the iPhone.10 are ok. First, let's get into this unboxing actually before we do that. Let's talk about one of the unique features of the 10r.
That immediately makes it stand out and that's the fact that it comes in six. Yes, I said six: vibrant color options and half full haters can hate I, know they're, just colors and us fanboys get way too excited about them. But man no lie all the color options. Look pretty dope. I personally chose to go with the product red 10 arms, mainly because I've never had the opportunity to get a product right device before and also because a portion of the product rent devices sales go to a good cause and Plus Apple doesn't charge you more for it.
This year, which is nice, the unboxing is pretty basic as it's very similar to most iPhone unboxing. You have your traditional paperwork with some additional product red information, a sim ejector tool, welcome, guide and the classic Apple stickers. Behind that you have the phone itself and underneath it lies yeah, you guessed it a regular charging, brick and a regular USB to lightning cable and Apple Lightning, ear pods without the headphone jack dongle consistent with the 10s and 10s Mac's. Apple has chosen not to include these modern accessories with their modern devices. It's stupid and sorry about that.
But let's get back to the phone. The first thing: you're gonna notice, is the size. It's kind of like the Goldilocks of the three devices this year as it's slightly larger than the regular 10s, but slightly smaller than the staggering 10s max. I also noticed right away the nostalgic feeling of the aluminum frame, much cooler to the touch in comparison to the stainless steel that wraps around flat chips, but let's face it. The one thing that clearly stands out.
The most is the absolutely badass red color of this phone. It definitely has a more bold, deeper red finish that pairs really well with the black display. In my opinion, a much more aggressive look in comparison to the other 10, our candy color variants. One thing that Apple did here, which I think is awesome, is that they colored the stainless steel frame to match the color foam, making for a much more cohesive and distinctive look. The glass back is not as glossy as the tennis and tennis max, which helps it hide fingerprints a little better and man.
Initial impressions on feel in the hand, is impressive. The premium materials Apple is using here are masterfully put together. That display lays flush along the edges of the frame. The buttons are super tactile and click, and with the 10r joining the design language of the original 10, you have an spotless, simple luxurious. Looking phone, this also means that the 10 honors adopted face ID as its primary means of unlocking the phone hate it or love it.
It's an impressive and sophisticated piece of hardware, and it's nice to see in Apple's, the cheapest iPhone. But that being said, Apple is using more budget materials here and the one that has gotten the most attention is that display on the $10. This is a 6.1 inch, liquid retina LCD that comes in at a pixel resolution of 1792 by 828, making for 326 pixels per inch, quite a step back from the impressive OLED panels present on the tennis and tennis max. But the question is: is it significant enough for the average consumer to even notice or care well for me, coming from using the 10 and the tennis Max, since they were both released? I did notice right away that this is definitely an LCD, but honestly it doesn't look bad at all that displays bright. Colors are vibrant, and you'll have to actively and aggressively pixel peep to spot on any individual pixels.
Now because it's not an OLED, you do have some compromises. There's a larger bezel around the outside of the display in comparison to the 10 and tennis. Max honestly, it's quite noticeable when you first power on the phone, if you're coming from one of those phones, but really after just a few minutes of usage, you don't even pay attention to it and then just light years better than the god-awful forehead and chin that played the older iPhones. In addition to the larger bezels. Viewing angles aren't as nice as they are on an OLED and because it's backlit, you don't get true blacks, but a bonus of having an LCD is less power, consumption which leads to better battery life.
The 10r has a 2942 William hour battery that supports both wireless and quick charging, which is actually smaller than the battery and the tennis max, but it performs better due to more efficient power usage. In fact, the tenor is the best performing iPhone out of the three when it comes to overall battery life. Moreover, the tenor is rocking the same beastly 8-12 Bionic chip found in its flagship brothers, so everything is buttery, smooth in terms of navigation, app usage, etc. , and it allows the 10r to perform or spec intensive activities such as leveraging the iPhones the newest camera function, smart HDR. Now, yes, you are limited to only one wide-angle camera on the back, but the sensor on it is exactly the same as a fine of the tennis and tennis max, and the image quality so far is superb.
Apple has made some significant gains with their phones this year in terms of camera quality and there's no limitation in place for the 10r. It can still use portrait mode on both the rear and front facing cameras. And, yes, you can adjust the amount of image blur when taking a portrait selfie to make a more realistic, looking shallow depth of field and over all the pictures are definitely up to par with the tennis and tennis max, which again is really impressive. Ok last thing I want to touch on here is the Tanners price. How is Apple has recently been trying to break records for most expensive consumer smartphones.
The tenor comes in and a more reasonable Albion still expensive, $749 starting price tag when you compare it to the more expensive tennis and tennis max, it's pretty clear, you're, getting some solid value in the 10r, considering all that it can do sure there are differences and some cheaper materials being used, but pound for pound at least a first impression. This to me is the best deal. If you want to get an iPhone right now you get around 95% of what the more expensive iPhones can do at a relatively decent discount and the phone looks and feels fantastic is in no way to meet a budget device and I think this phone is going to see a lot of sales, this holiday season and for a good reason. But hey that's my opinion of the 10r dye Dena. What you guys have to say about it now that it's officially released.
Do you guys think that the 10r is the best value iPhone available today, or do you think that it's too far away from the quality of the tennis and tennis Max and if you're an Apple hater? What do you think of the 10r honestly I'm interested to get your thoughts as you bring a totally different perspective? Let me know what you guys are thinking in the comments down below now. In case you guys missed my last review on how my one-month experience of using the tennis max has been definitely check it out. I'll leave a link to it in the description, and I'll, throw it on one of the end cards in case. You guys are interested. That's about it, for this review.
Don't forget to leave me a thumbs up if you guys find it useful. It really helps me out I'll be working on a comprehensive review of the 10r which will come out soon so keep an eye out for it. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the phone leave them down in the comments down below thanks for watching, and I'll, see you guys the next one, but all the beautiful things with me.
