Hey, it's me martin, and this is the OnePlus 8t, a phone full of interesting, picks and trade-offs. So let's discuss what is happening 30 days later. The three points that OnePlus highlights for this phone are: the 120hz fluid display warp charge 65 and the improved 48 megapixel camera setup, which we're gonna check out how it affected my time with this phone over the course of the last 30 days. It was a pleasure to use the 8t. That's for sure, and one of the reasons for that is besides the fast hardware and the pretty clean software is a great looking display. The biggest change is, of course, the difference in refresh rate, it's now 120 hertz, instead of 90, but if I'm honest with you, it's kind of difficult to see this with the naked eye, and it had more impact on me when I was going from 30hz to 60hz, nevertheless, not only when navigating through android or apps that support the high refresh rates.
It's also of added value when gaming, especially with shooters and other fast action games, and I like the fact that the device manages the refrigerator itself based on the type of the content that you're watching or interacting with to get the most out of your battery and speaking about the battery one of the most remarkable things about the OnePlus 8t compared to its predecessor, has to do with the battery with the OnePlus 8t, you get a charger, that's able to charge with a maximum of 65 watt. This is made possible safely. By having the battery consist of two parts with a total of 4500 William power, I've made a video on the charging speeds compared to some other popular smartphones, and the OnePlus 8t is definitely ahead of the competition. But if you want to check out the video and the comparison click here in the top right corner, so how's the battery holding up well, it's average for its class. If you compare it to my OnePlus word, then it's lasting a bit shorter when browsing.
While the note has a battery, that's nearly 400 William hours, smaller the same counts for watching video, in which the note has been able to hold on just a bit longer. I'm somewhat surprised to be honest with you that the OnePlus word holds up longer than the OnePlus 8t, despite its bigger battery capacity. Of course, there is a higher refresh rate display on the OnePlus 8t, but that's set to 60hz while watching video, so it should influence the outcome. It's an interesting result. That's for sure, but with every day-to-day usage you will barely see or notice the difference, and also you can still easily get through the day.
OnePlus also announced their new camera setup, but, to be honest with you, I have some mixed feelings about it, because the technical improvements are limited. For example, they added a camera, but you cannot take pictures with it as it's a depth sensor. The 48 megapixel sensor is the same and the wide angle lens jumped from 116 to 120 degrees field of view. The macro lens is 5 megapixels, so how's it performing in real life. Well, if you take some quick snaps in all kinds of situations, it will be more than good, but the moment you start pixel peeping the differences become clear.
Let's start with the macro camera, which is one that I personally barely use, because I don't like it that much and secondly, it has a fixed focus point which makes it even harder to nail the focus when it comes too low light situations. I've never put OnePlus on the top, because there's still a lot of work for them to be done. The low light photos for the main 48 megapixel camera are okay, it's nothing too spectacular, but it allows you to capture at least what's happening around you. A wide angle lens is a whole different story, and I wouldn't advise you to use this one for low light situations, only use it in situations with enough light because of the extra depth sensor. The portrait pictures have some perfect edge detection, and they're also nicely defined.
It works in all kinds of situations perfect, both on humans and animals. One feature that I'm positively surprised about is the portrait video. It is not perfect, but much better than the competition. Last but not least, I really like the realistic colors of the 4k footage, its stabilization and most of all, the ability to change to the wide angle lens, while recording before I'm going to summarize this phone, how it was holding up the last 30 days. I have two more points to discuss: oxygen OS and the positioning of this phone OnePlus brought a big overhaul to their software, and I like how that played out it's fresh in bold and a clean new look.
Stretching your thumb to the corners is, for example, no longer needed. This is one of the features that OnePlus implements with their optimizing. The android experiences for one-handed users on logic displays strategies, and so far it's been working out great for me that important information is prioritized and that there are so so many more features that I appreciate, like the voice note and soon to be released straight on doc. So I could write down a whole story over here, but that's not the point you can see that it works. So please consider subscribing my most favorite feature out of all is the always-on display, as it clearly shows my digital well-being or how addicted I am to my phone.
My final and one of the strangest picks might be that only the OnePlus 8 got an upgrade this year. Well, they usually also upgrade their pro model, which is most likely because of the OnePlus word series linked here in the top right corner in case you want to check it out. I also use that phone for 30 days and, if I'm honest with you, I actually quite like the OnePlus word as it feels, but you get so much bang for the buck and that puts the OnePlus 8t, as mentioned with other reviewers as well. In a very, very difficult position, so yeah, it's been a fun ride, the last 30 days and so far it was a pleasure to use the OnePlus 8t, and it didn't feel to me that I was coming short on something for any specific day, but with the bigger picture complete, it does feel to me that I had to make some huge concessions to put the OnePlus 8t in a different segment than the word and the 8 pro alright, that's it for the OnePlus 8t. I hope you liked this video, if you did so give it a thumbs up and subscribe in case you haven't already.
Thank you so much for watching this video. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope to see all of you in the next one. You.
