TCL 6 SERIES R635 MINI LED GAME MODE SETTINGS FIRST LOOK AT THX GAME MODE 4K PS4 PRO

Hey, what's up guys, this is Brian at whisperstatus74. Welcome to the community welcome to the channel. This is the first time you're seeing me please consider liking and subscribing. We are real tech for real people. Today's video will be another mini, led TCL, r635 video. We did the unboxing the other day.

Many of you have joined the channel since that video welcome to the community. Welcome to the channel. We are a community here. I do respond to the comments. If I have not responded yet, I will get back to you in the next few days.

I do respect your opinion and to appreciate your perspective. TCL Vizio high. Since we've talked about these brands in the last video, there is a lot of hate towards them as being cheap, garbage brands, they're trash. I don't feel that way. I do champion these brands and I do really root for them, because the value and the specs together are something that you really can't beat on the tv display space, full array, local dimming, Dolby Vision, auto low latency mode, variable, refresh rate right now, you're, seeing horizon zero dawn behind me.

We're going to do some gaming today, anytime, you see me talking in a video with gaming happening. You will not see HDR whenever you see game videos with me out of them. Those are HDR enabled there are certain times. We won't see editing, it's just that my HDR and editing software don't play nice together. So that's why you'll see videos that are in HDR, if not you'll, see me in the videos, and they'll be labeled as such, I've enjoyed um the last few days, just watching Netflix to some easy streaming.

I've never seen or haven't seen any real problems with blooming or hot spots on the screen. I have noticed that during not subtitles but loading screens, you will see a little of blooming around it there in the black bars. There hasn't really been any flash lighting or problems or hot spots with that not to say there isn't any blooming and that's something that I want you guys to temper your expectations as far as mini led being an OLED killer or micro led. That's not really the case. What you're seeing here is just another form of led.

In my opinion, it does have perfect blacks. It has a seems like a better local dimming than just regular backlight technology. I have enjoyed it for movie watching. I will say that it does deteriorate off angle. You will see the black bars light up a little off angle, like any other, led, even high-end ones.

So it's not going to be the end-all be-all, but keep in mind it's the value and the feature set that comes with this display. We're going to do some gaming on it. We're going to show you how to get into game mode and the picture settings. I'm learning them myself, they're a little all over the place. They're, not my favorite picture settings, but it's what it comes with: learning a new technology and a new display.

I am familiar with TCL, but we're going to kind of learn it together, and we'll do some PC gaming. If there are any games that you want to see from either the PlayStation, the Xbox or PC, let me know in the comments, and I'll try to do a video on that. You'll also see these displays compared to, or should say, the TCL compared to the lg cx c10, the Sony x950h and the new display that'll be here in a few weeks, so we'll have four of them kind of alternating, but it's going to have some tough competition, but the fact is, I think, it'll be just fine. I've enjoyed it out of the box without changing the settings a lot. So this video will be more about running a game.

I'm going to go through settings together. More than just showing you gameplay straight up. Gameplay videos will be in HDR with no editing, which is why you won't see it labeled, but we're going to go through the settings for game mode, see if we can get the thanks game mode to enable. I will say that the auto low latency mode actually enables with Xbox One X, but not with PS5 or PS5. I wish PS4 enabling PS4 it stayed in a movie mode.

Xbox. You went right to low latency mode, we'll load up a game. You'll see how it'll respond. It'll tell you if it's in HDR, and we'll go through some settings together. So this is more of a settings overview game mode, we'll do one for movies and regular TV watching, and we'll do videos every other day or every day.

Alright, guys I'll see you behind the camera, all right guys. We are behind the camera. This is horizon zero dawn on the PS4, and this is out of the box. I actually went back into the game mode and went back to its default and gotta say I'm pretty happy with the image. This is a gorgeous game anyway, but it hangs right in there with the other displays that are in the room, be it the lg cx and the Sony 958.

So I've been seeing some pretty high-end displays lately with these games and this one hangs in there. I definitely like it better out of the box than the Vizio quantum XP series, which you're able to really dial in after using it and messing with the settings. But I'm going to tell you I'm pretty impressed with this one right out of the box. It looks good again you're, not seeing it in HDR, but we're gonna mess with some settings, so we can go through the settings together. This isn't a how-to setting, video, or you know calibration video.

This is where I go out. This is where you are once we hit back into it. You should see the HDR indicator pick up in the corner and there it is. We are in HDR, so we go through the settings together. So it's more of a settings overview for gaming, not a big fan of the remote you'll see me back out several times so here we are with the sleep timer right at the top, and it does not stay long.

You can't really leave it open for very long went through that a few times and the back button and the arrow key sleep. Timer TV, brightness um. I don't love this feature because a lot of us, you know, is it really by your room. It does change the image darker dark room. I like a brighter image in a dark room.

That's just me, so I don't think with a lot of these companies. You have to stay with this. I think you go what you like the best to your eye, but we're going to go for us. We're gonna, just stick as dark gets pretty dark. It gets a little muddy, so we're gonna actually stay at normal picture.

Size is auto. You have auto, you have direct, which are basically the same. You might like direct when you're PC gaming. That way, you can actually make sure the scaling fits correctly, so we'll state auto. You also have normal, which people like to know that there is a stretch and a zoom.

Some of you, like zoom, will stay at auto picture mode. You have dark HDR. Now this is interesting. Is that the auto low latency aspect of it puts you in the game mode with the Xbox One X? It didn't hear I was in game mode, but when I reset it, it actually took me out. So I'm going to go back to the picture mode.

We're going to have to go into there's normal, which, if you want a game outside picture mode. There's no judgment here. Plenty of you like that. You can see there is blurring there, but it is a better image, but when you get into game mode, that's why we're here, but I want to show you there that it did take me out of game mode when I reset it there's bright and there's gaming. Now, there's also gaming, there's dark normal bright and gaming.

There are sound options: theater, big bass, high treble music, normal speech, theater we'll stay at theater, but it's good to have different presets and here's the picture settings there's also additional sound presets here virtual surround it doesn't sound bad. Let me get into the picture settings again. We are in gaming HDR and then here you have local contrast: auto adjust backlight level a lot for the screens, local dimming zones on Vizio. This is also different. You know they have different labeling.

Look. How quickly that freaking menu gets out makes me go all the way through it again um wrong one. Let's try that killing me. So I'm glad that this is taping. It is a pain in the butt these settings.

You know having this as a shortcut here and then the picture settings there. Local contrast, but here you have your picture mode, local contrast, so this does have a contrast, but it is also local dimming. So there's a couple controls for local dimming with Vizio this on high, actually disables. The zones here seems to help. I like it on high dynamic contrast, is disabled and HDR game mode, which is something that you guys actually like you guys like that feature.

A lot of you backlight is the backlight, which is the brightness and backlight difference. That's local dimming! I'm sorry! That is the backlight at max. What you need for HDR for brightness. Some of them are the same brightness and backlight depending on the manufacturer, so you can probably alter this brightness and not change HDR, which is always appreciated. As your contrast and what you do is when you change these, you don't have to actually hit enter and do it separately.

You can actually do it from the menu sharpness. Is that 20? This is a vibrancy of color, so it doesn't seem to change the colors themselves other than just making them more vibrant, more punchy and the default seems to be working pretty well. I think was at 45. Anything below that and it gets pretty gray in here. Intense tent color temperatures are pretty basic on these panels.

You have warm cool normal. I like things a bit cooler, but it shows up on camera a little bluer, so we'll stay normal action. Smoothing is disabled action, clarity, disabled led motion clarity: there is a flicker, so it's probably a black frame insertion. It can be used for sports. I don't like the effect.

I can actually see it flickering a little. You guys might be able to see it on camera and those are the game modes uh the settings for game of I like the local contrast on high dynamic contrast again this might be enabled without HDR settings a lot of you guys like dynamic contrast. It's a shame that that's disabled, but it does have a very punchy image, looks good, and this game recently has been running on the Sony, x950h, the lg cx, and I'm telling you it hangs in there. It doesn't lag behind. Furthermore, it looks perfect.

Furthermore, it looks comparable now there's not a severe black level or anything in this game, but it looks good all right guys. Here we are ghosted of sushima. I will tell you that I think I'm just taking an educated guess here that the local dimming disables when a game is loading a lot like how Sony disables their backlight. I do feel like a lot of the blooming that you're, seeing or people are seeing, I'm not seeing in content what I'm seeing is in between games loading. So I'd love to hear from TCL to see, if that's the case now going back into the room, brightness and those features, this game does look a little washed out and not as dimensional, but this is where I would say this brightness definitely helps if you want to the settings again it's up here and TV brightness.

This is where that dark room does help the image wow, but it does seem that in transitioning to the next level of content that you really do end up losing the black level, but again it just seems like the um, the local dimming, completely disables. Now, if you have any requests in the comments of games that you want to see, let me know I have quite a few games. I don't get very far in them, but if you want to see in the channel how the Sony 950h or the lg looked, I played this level on them as well and compared them now. Also keep in mind. These games are not 60fps, so there's going to be a little of a blur when you're dealing with you know, sub 60 frames per second.

The bright levels seem very good, and I'm pretty happy with it again. You saw we didn't really alter the image too much or change too much of anything. Only. I didn't notice that there didn't seem to be a Amber, a gamma slider, so we'll check back into that. Try to kill these guys.

Look at the area that none of my guys are killing anybody. Okay, cool guys standing around just watching me. Well, it does look good you're not going to get OLED blocks, but I'm also not seeing, more importantly, black crush that we had noticed on the tcl8 series. So this video is obviously going to focus more on the PS4, we'll do Xbox separately. That way we can cover available refresh rate which does work by the way.

So you can see here as the game loads up. It just seems like the local dimming's, not even enabled so. Yes, those are hot spots, but it just seems like once. The game enables on dark screens you're, not seeing that, so the TV can be made to look terrible, but I'm not seeing those hot spots. So I think it's a lot like how Sony had those disabled until content is started simply put if those hot spots were enabled- or at least there, during content, you would have seen it in goes to Shiva.

My PS5 sounds like a jet god of war display seems plenty bright. That horizontal banding is just what the camera picks up. We're not messing with the aperture at all that way, we're not trying to lose um blooming or anything. We leave the aperture where it is come out here, look into the looks good now. This is where I will bring in value the 55 inch.

TCL was about 700, my 55 inch cx was about 1700. And I'm not really feeling that huge loss or look. I can't live without it, I'm actually very much liking. The image and you'll see this display go ahead to head against those other ones, but I like what I see and go back into the options and see if we can change the image much again, you can brighten it up. So I feel like this TV brightness is more of just a shortcut from the standard.

Brightness we'll go back to normal here. There's your gaming, your picture settings here, backlight's 100 brightness is at 50. And then you can again adjust the color and give you more of that vibrancy, but the details on his outfit I mean the game, looks good, very pleased with the image, and I'll continuously bring up value being able to recommend a display that can do what the higher end ones can do. For half the price is a win-win for everyone. The game looks excellent.

Go over by the flames over here by the house. This game does have that saturated water. Color looks now. I did beat this one. The reason why I like going over the initial level is that later on, things do get a little too saturated.

The game takes a gets, a very neon. Look to it now we're here in the uncharted DLC. Now. This is where I rather have a dynamic contrast. Kind of make those purples be a little more saturated but still looks good.

You have to find your way through the light and the dark settings for your room. It does seem like dark, is kind of the way to go again depending on where you're playing I do like the saturation of HDR in this level. It does look good. Furthermore, it's just above us, see that wasn't so bad. Furthermore, it wasn't I'll.

Do a little wipe out lots of kindness now, there's definitely some work to be done on the settings to get the image that you want. I would say out of the box, I like the picture settings, probably better than the Vizio quantum XP series, not as good as the Sony 950h in terms of default. You definitely get the settings probably to where you want them. I don't like the dynamic contrast. Is disabled, we'll have to check some SDR gaming to see if that gets put back on? I'm sure it do I'm guessing it goes Hannah.

So I like the game mode. I think it looks good. It definitely could use some more saturation and maybe a little more pop, as you saw when the video first started when I was out of game mode, it looked noticeably better, so we'll definitely work through the videos and see if we can get the image to look better, but not a bad first attempt at some gaming now here in SDR dynamic contrast is still disabled, but if you wanted to engage it, it's still disabled. So I'm going to find out why that's disabled see how SDR gaming looks modern warfare remastered on the PS4. It still says it's in dynamic or thanks.

What's cool looks good, so we'll leave you with also SDR gaming on modern warfare. PS4 pro looks good definite settings need to be changed up a little. Get you some more vibrancy. HDR looks good, I'm sure we can get it to look better targets all right guys. That is an overview of the game mode settings on the TCL six series, r635 some gameplay on the PS4 pro we'll also do the Xbox One X and the PC in HDR, and then we'll also do some games in actual HDR all right guys.

Thank you. As always, and I will see you in the comments take care you.
