Hey guys welcome back today, I'm going to be reviewing my new budget phone TCL 10 pro reason I got this phone is because my lg wing really cool phone uh it broke, I dropped it, cracked it all up. I don't know if you guys can see it. It's awful at the top and the bottom um there's a little piece of glass sticking out on one of the sides. If I rub my thumb up, it'll uh I've actually cut it. So basically it was spin 300 and something dollars to get the screen repaired and uh. My issue with that was, should I happen to drop it again.
I'd be right back in the same boat, because there are no cases that protect the screen. I don't have insurance I've, never gotten insurance on any of my phones. Only once I drop my phone at work while way up in the air on a forklift and, of course, destroyed it um. That was the only time I ever had an incident with a phone, never get a warranty or anything. I just always kept a good case on it.
I've never had issues. Furthermore, I've dropped. My phone many of times, especially like getting out the car phone sitting in my lap, get up right onto the ground scratch the screen a couple of times some minor scratches, but that's it. I've never dropped the phone in the screen shatter. This is a first for me, um and I don't know spending 300 and something dollars to replace it.
Just to you know, really have to baby it and hope it never falls again face down because it would crack again. So basically, what I decided to do was go with TCL 10 pro grabbed this off of Amazon. It was like 330 bucks, um, I'm sure the price is going to go down even more now, because I've seen that they've got the TCL 20 pro 5g getting ready to release, but that's like a 550 phone. You know I wasn't going to spend that kind of money. Um really didn't want to spend the three something on this, but I went with it.
It was either this or a pixel. I think it was a pixel 3 Amazon head for like 100 and something dollars. I went with this because it had a little better specs um, not a bad phone, so we're going to check that out. Furthermore, I'm currently recording this with the TCL phone. So we're going to see how big of a difference it is because I'm actually going to switch over to record the rest with the wing here, um but yeah.
So I had to downgrade from you know a thousand dollar premium phone to this budget. TCL um, I really loved the wing. I had no issues with it. Um it's a really cool phone. You know to be uh.
I've had mostly Samsung's, so I had one lg before that was when the whole note 7 issue was going, and they were exploding, and the newest phone out was lg. I forget what it was, but I had definitely for two years never had any issue, but for whatever reason I went back to Samsung and uh. Here I was back at lg, but this happened. Of course. Now lg is done with phones and I don't know I'm hoping what uh one day uh the prices will actually go down on the screen replacement, and maybe I will get screen replaced, but definitely not paying 300.
So now we're going to move on and talk about this TCL 10 pro cool phone um. You know 64 megapixels, camera 6, gigs of a 6.47-inch screen, AMOLED uh, it's really nice! Actually, and you know I was actually surprised. The transition wasn't huge going from a premium to a budget. Uh I mean yeah. I guess you could say this phone is faster on certain instances, but uh you know switching to this.
It is not a huge difference. Besides, like speed camera uh, I won't say the cameras in this wing was super great um, but the front camera was definitely the pop-up front camera here, a lot better than what's inside this. This front. Camera is horrible. Um, the fingerprint reader is about the same between the phones.
This one actually as much as I fussed about this one. I will say it probably works a little better than what's in here, because this one most of the time it just doesn't read, and I've memorized the same thumb. I think I have it in there three times, and it still misses sometimes for whatever reason, but uh yeah. So let's switch over and check that out all right. So now uh here we are TCL, it's actually a very nice screen.
Uh one of the things gets on. My nerves are the auto brightness is constantly changing, gets on my nerves. It's like stay in one spot, quit getting dimmer or lighter um. This one. This wallpaper has got like the moving background, uh kind of cool um.
It's not really all that slow. I really have no complaints with the phone. Besides the camera, I'm still trying to get used to the camera front cameras, crap uh. I just took my memory card out of my uh, the lg and stuck it right into this phone. So all my pictures, everything copied over no issues.
Um, you know copied over all my apps and everything like normal. Here's the biggest issue with this phone- I've googled it other people have had it they claim to have fixed it. I don't think they really did notifications, I'm still carrying around both phones, because my wing gets tons of notification. This phone gets half of them and I cannot figure it out. I've restarted it.
I've turned this on that on uh, see where is it got the smart manager? The auto start, I believe, is my issue I have most of the apps set to your know for the phone leave me alone. Let them auto start, don't shut them off, kill the battery. I don't care, and I will go back in and some of them have still switched to not auto start. I believe that is my main issue with the notifications, but I'm still not getting all my notifications, no matter what I do go into each app turn it on off. Furthermore, I've tried everything um.
You know people have said: oh, you have to switch them all to all notifications on. Then it works tried that I've tried everything. If somebody knows the trick to getting all notifications to come through on this phone, please leave a comment. I would greatly appreciate it. Um that's my biggest complaint.
It's got the cool uh smart button over here that you could program to do different things. Um. I think I have a set yeah. If I hold it, we got the light. It's got the double lights on the back.
If I hit it twice, it goes to camera um. So that's pretty cool. You can also set it to one time which I deactivated, because every I kept accidentally hitting it, and I think I had the camera set up, so the camera was constantly coming on, but other than that pretty cool it's loud. This phone is louder than the lg wing. The lg wing has a lot fuller, sound from the speaker, but this one is definitely louder.
Um headphone jack wow been a couple phones, since I've had one of those even got the remote uh, the IR joint, so you can use it as a remote control. So it's got little bonuses that you know lg didn't have. The screen is really nice to look at it's uh. I don't want to say it's a better looking screen than the lg wing, but I guess I could say that the colors really pop it is a really nice screen to look at um. It's got the superfast charging.
I think it's 18 watt fast charge. I think it charges faster than the wing, even though I think I believe the wing has a higher wattage charger. Furthermore, I don't know. I think this charge is faster, though, could be just me, but I like the graphics for when it's charging. It shows the like power coming up or whatever, but uh for a budget phone three hundred dollars, I'm actually impressed.
I won't say I won't ever go back to a premium phone, because I've been eyeballing the Samsung, the folding phones that may be next, but I'm going to have to ride this one out. For a little while I mean I've only had the wing for uh trying to think I haven't even had whenever it came out, which wasn't all that long ago, um back in October or November, something like that. So I'm kind of just starting over again, so it's going to be awhile before I can upgrade, but uh we'll see what happens so. I'm going to be using this for a while had to get used to the smaller screen because it is smaller than I'm used to, but uh the weight. That's the other big plus um.
This is so light compared to the wing. The wing is like a brick. Maybe that's why I dropped it, but a lot lighter phone super light. So I don't know, I think it's worth it definitely worth the price paid decent phone. I was actually looking to get what was it the TCL, 10, uh plus or something UW? I don't know I forget what the title was, but it was a Verizon exclusive.
So and I decided to just go with this one and uh now I'm seeing that they got the 20 pro coming but yeah. I wasn't going to pay that much, so it was between this and the other phone I was looking at was uh. I believe it was an OnePlus phone uh. Furthermore, I forget what the title was, but it was priced around the same. They both had similar.
You know specs uh. I just decided to go with this one uh. I'm not sure why I know one another thing is missing: is the wireless charging no wireless charging that kind of sucked so, but it does do sharing, so I can hook another phone up through the USB and share the power that way, but not wirelessly. So I'm trying to think what else that's kind of uh and the uh case options. It came with this case, which I stuck this uh little the holder on the back, try to keep me from dropping the phone uh but uh.
It came with this case and I see like there's a maybe a couple companies that make cases for this phone. I do want to get a little bulkier one um, but there's very slim options for cases, but other than that pretty solid phone uh yeah. So not a lot to complain about with it works pretty good um. Besides the whole notification issue, I just got to figure that out. I can't figure out what is up with the notifications.
I don't really want to have to keep carrying both phones around and uh, really only at home, because the lg doesn't have service outside the house outside Wi-Fi. So but yeah the notification is going to be a problem. If I can figure that out, then I'll really be digging this here, budget friendly phone, so I don't know you guys tell me what you think. Let me know if you got one what you think of it. If you know how to fix that notification issue, um yeah hit the comments.
Don't forget to hit that like button subscribe, come back check me out thanks for watching.
