So, it's the first Samsung Galaxy unpacked of the year, and you know what device was launched. The flip. Obviously, the huge thing here is design. It's not supposed to be the top of the line in terms of specs, but it does get pretty close, and we're going to get to that in a second. But let's look at this, starting with this hinge. It's got a stiff, but satisfying feel to it.
It's not going to just flip open, like any flip phone. Would you're going to have to give it a little extra nudge like we saw with the Motorola Razr, but what's really key here is that there's folding glass in here, so it should be very durable? The hinge is almost completely hidden and when you open it- and when you close it, you really don't see any sort of crease. You don't really see any sort of gaps either. So when it's closed, you have this tiny little screen on the front that you can tap and wake up, but it is also a touch screen. So you can swipe through different little bits of information.
You can swipe through text messages, answer or reject phone calls, but the key thing here is that you can actually use it as a viewfinder by just double-clicking this power button which kicks you right into the camera, and then you can take a quick selfie with the volume key and open right up into the camera app speaking of opening this up. If you open it up only about half way, you'll see that the UI actually changes into a kind of dual screen of mode. This is called flex mode where, in the instance of the camera, you'll have all of your controls at the bottom and at the top you'll have your viewfinder same thing with the gallery where, if you go in, this becomes kind of a touchpad where you can swipe through all your photos and look at them. This way, Google's worked with them as well. To get a few different integrations.
So YouTube, for instance, keeps comments at the bottom here, while you're looking at a video at the top. You can also use this for multi window so that you can do a little of the multitasking that you've seen on the Galaxy fold, but in a smaller form factor on this Galaxy SII flip. So one of the best things about this is when you have it flipped open. It just looks like a regular phone. The bezels are relatively thin, and you have that punchy, Super AMOLED display that Samsung, isn't known for the best thing is, is covered by glass now, which is something that the Galaxy fold was not able to do.
This is a first in the field. So, as I mentioned, it's not quite the top tier when it comes to not like the galaxy s, 20 altar, this is more of a pitch device. That's meant to just be a different kind of fun factor that offers still very high performance. So we have 8 gigabytes of RAM with 256 gigs of storage and the Snapdragon 855 plus, which is just a step above last year's flagship processors. Suffice it to say you're not going to be really worried about how much you're able to do on this phone.
It's going to be quick, it's going to be snappy, and it's going to do everything that you need on an everyday basis. Some might be sad to see that you only have a dual camera setup in this situation, but realistically the telephoto lens isn't a huge loss, and we're happy to see that ultra-wide is still included. You have 12 megapixel sensors on both of them, so you're going to get photo quality, that's very akin to that as 20 range. It's also kind of a tall display with a 21-point 9 by 9 ratio and a 6.7-inch full HD plus screen, so not something that you're going to be able to see a huge difference in terms of screen, quality, sharpness or anything like that. It's still going to have that punchy display of colors that you've always wanted out of Samsung topping off the premium featureless.
You also have fast charging wireless charging and power shares. You can charge other devices. It is only a 3300 William hour battery, so I don't know how much you're going to want to charge anything other than maybe your galaxy, but it's good to know that you had that option there. In a device that you're paying thirteen hundred and eighty dollars for that's the other thing, it's thirteen hundred and eighty dollars, which honestly you kind of expected from a device like this, especially with the materials that just made out of glass on the front, this kind of cutting-edge technology is going to cost you a little like we saw with the Motorola Razr, which cost 1500, and for my money this feels like a more solid device in my hand. So for that $1,380, you may be well getting a much more well-built device here.
