Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5g (First Impressions) By CR Tech

Yep, let's talk about it, you, so let's jump right into this. First impressions, video uh, we're gonna, get the box out the way because the box doesn't come with much. There's nothing special going on here. Trust me: you get your semi ejection tool there with manuals. Then. Obviously, here you get your charging brick and everything a couple of instructions right here, the z for the premiere service.

You know if you're interested in that feel free to pause the video look at that right there, but let's get right into the phone. So I got the Mr gray version honestly, primarily just because everybody's getting a missing bronze, and I was like. Ah, let's try to differentiate a little with the Mr gray, pretty nice color, you know double tap. You can see that 1.1 inch green, but before we open it up, let me talk about why I actually ended up getting this device um. It wasn't because I wanted to just say: yeah.

Let me get a Samsung Galaxy z5g! No! It's mainly because I got the note 20 note, 20 ultra to be specific and honestly. Yes, it's a beast of a phone, it's a great phone, probably you know definitely top three top five of the year, but it was the same experience as the Galaxy Note, 10 plus. Yes, it did things better. It had a lower latency. It had more aspen features that had more features.

In general, I had a better camera, had a larger display, great things all around, but at the heart of it. Essentially, the experience was the same, and it pains me to say it. But honestly, I didn't, you know, really want to keep the device, because I realized that for me personally, a slab. You know the traditional smartphone design. For me, it's just going to go, you know, I'm just going to go with an iPhone um, because if you think about what you actually do with a phone day-to-day basis, whether that's social media messaging phone calls, what phone is more efficient at those tasks I mean most people would say iPhones and others would argue Samsung's, but just from my personal experience, just for FaceTime and iMessage purposes, it's just going to be an iPhone.

So, in order for me to actually enjoy the Samsung Galaxy experience, I had to go out and get something different and which is this is why I'm now here um, you know I got the galaxy fold coming later this week. So I'm pretty excited for that. But this is you know this is cool for the time being and honestly, there hasn't been much coverage on this device, primarily because you know. Obviously this is the second iteration, and it's very similar to the first iteration, except the a65 plus the new colors, and what else is there anything else, different 865 plus new colors? What else there's one other thing: 100 main thing: 5g? Oh, my goodness, we're gonna I'm going to have to cut that part out. Yes, 865, plus 5g and new colors.

You know other than that you're, not really getting much of a difference. Same experience, that's why there's not much coverage on this particular device, the 5g version. Finally, guys, let's get to the fun part of this whole experience, which is flipping this display open and if you guys ever looked at a flossy carter video. You know what he said: do not fill any see. Sometimes I get too excited, he said, do not feel any remorse flipping this phone open when you flip it just flip it open, and that is probably one of the most satisfying things I've ever done.

But anyway, let's look at this. I'm sorry, the film, the plastic film. That's on top of this display it is an absolute fingerprint magnet. So if you want to avoid that at all calls just make sure you get a carbon fiber cloth and constantly wipe that off, because that is irritating, I mean honestly, the phone isn't off and unfolded at the same time. Usually the phone isn't like this.

Usually the phone is like this or like this, but still, if that's something that irritates you make sure you get that taken care of with the cloth all right, so you could take the film off. I mean Samsung, doesn't recommend it, but you're your own person make your own decisions and well, let's go right into YouTube. I'm going to show off um a feature that I, like you know feature that many of you have already seen, folding it and guess what you can just look right through the comments as you're sitting down, while the video is still displaying. Obviously, this display is a little small, but I mean it gets the job done. You know, let's flip it.

This is how to look normally, let's expand it, that's how it looks expanded, so pretty cool, pretty cool. That's one of my favorite features just upon you know a day of using it. Honestly, it's only been a day, so obviously I still got more to discover, but so far that is great. Let's see how to run a game. Brahma I'd honestly just installed this, so I'm not that good.

So please don't come at me for a lack of skill, because I know I'm not good. You don't have to tell me. Let's see why now we could just pick her so as you can see we booted in and got into a game fairly quickly, just in case you guys wanted to know. Oh, how good it is speed wise, oh yeah, okay, I would like to think I'm doing good right now, but I'm not sure, let's get up there. Okay, I'm not sure who I am okay, I'm back.

I've played this game a couple of times on the phone, and this is by far the best that I'm doing I'm also playing behind the camera. So cut me some slack. I'm sure you guys don't want to see the whole game play. So you guys got the point of it, but gameplay-wise it's perfectly fine. Um everything on this device is silky smooth.

I haven't seen any lag yet um. I had a crash with um Google Docs. There was a crash um, but I haven't seen any lagging there's going to be crashes, um on all the all phones, whether that's an iPhone a galaxy, an OnePlus Motorola or whatever you want to call it, and you know it's just a part of the phone game. I mean honestly, I see a lot of tech reviews saying that they haven't experienced any lagging or crashing. And honestly, I can say that I have never had a phone that has never crashed my iPhone 11 Pro current phone uh current iPhone views right now, crashes, um at least two three times a week.

Um now do we give it the benefit of the doubt, because I did update to the iOS 14 beta. You know it's a beta, so it's working a couple of things out, but still anyway enough to chat about that. Let's talk about this yeah, so I got the lily case um. You know I was looking at a flossy carter video, and he said that this is the only case that I would want. So I went ahead, and I got it, but I haven't had the best experience with it and let me tell you why.

So maybe I did something wrong, I'm not sure, but it does not fit on my phone fleshly. So it's pretty it's pretty irritating. So, let's put the bottom half on looks fine right, great looks fine, let's put the top half on look. This does not go down, I'm not sure if it's supposed to, but it's very frustrating, there's a gap right there. Doesn't it's not flush.

So yes, although it is a nice case, look at that. That's a big problem for me, so I'm going to try to return it and get another one and try it out again, because I looked it up, and I haven't seen anybody else having that same issue. But that's why, right now, I'm just rocking the case uh the phone naked, because this was the only case I got with it. But honestly guys, that's it. You know.

That's my first impressions, solid device, um, it's going to operate like a Samsung device, but it does have the element of folding, which does give it a different feel, and do I recommend this off of my first impression. It depends on because, in my instance, like I said, my primary device for now at least not sure what the future holds right now is an iPhone and that's because of airdrop iMessage FaceTime just features that you know Samsung and google. They have um supplements for them, but it's not the same. So they're different um, so me personally, if I'm going to use my iPhone as a phone, if I'm going to get another phone, it has to do something extremely unique. For instance, this one and, like I said the galaxy fold, I'm getting later this week, um this fold.

So that's going to give me a different experience. It's going to give me a different feel so right now with how I'm feeling what I want to do is have an iPhone and have a foldable, and you know I have an iPad Pro, and I'm going to have the tab s7 as well. So I recommend this if you fall in that same ballpark, but if you want to use this as a daily driver, do I recommend it honestly? That's going to come down to you. You know I've seen a lot of people saying that this can't be a daily driver, and I've seen other people say that they're going to try to use that as a daily driver, and I've seen other people who use this phone for, let's say a week or so, and then they sell it one bay because they found no use for it. So people fall in all different ballparks, especially with this device, because these devices are still new.

You know they're not necessarily proven yet, but definitely do your research there's no IP rating on this, and that is a big reason that I don't know if this can necessarily be a daily driver, because me personally uh it rains a lot where I am where I'm located. So, if I'm outside in the rain, I don't want to be worrying about if my phone is going to break. You know, especially at the price point of 1400 um, but what I will do, for you guys best buy, is having some great discounts on these phones. I'm not sure why, because Samsung still has them at the regular price, but Best Buy. Has these phones for about 200 250 off? That includes the Galaxy Z flip, the galaxy s20 ultra, I'm not sure about the regular s20s I haven't checked, but it also applies to the Galaxy Note.20 ultra I'll definitely put those links in the description.
