Hi there this is Transit and in this video we'll use the camera comparison between the Galaxy, s8 plus and pixel excel last year, I had said that the pixel Excel had the best camera. It even beat the iPhone 7 and the Galaxy S7. But now we have this galaxy s, 8 plus with me. So let's do a comparison. If you look just from the specs point of view, both are very similar in terms of the real facing camera. The pixel has a twelve point: three megapixel rear facing shooter, whereas the galaxy s 8 has a 12, megapixel shooter in terms of hardware, the galaxy s 8 plus has an edge because the galaxy s 8 and is plus have optical image stabilization, where alpha pixel does not have any optical image.
Stabilization now, moving to the front facing camera, both of them have an 8, megapixel shooter, but again in terms of f-stop. The Galaxy S8 has F 1.7 lens, whereas for the front facing camera, its f a 2.4 lens on the pixel, but again specs are not everything again. I have seen a lot of devices when I tested. Specs can be great, but the actual performance can be very different, so I'll be showing you large sample shots and video side-by-side so that you can judge which one is doing a better job. Here are the pictures side by side, and both of them actually did a very good job in this picture, but notice that the galaxy s 8, plus the sky, is sort of blown out in this picture.
Definitely the galaxy s 8 plus, did a lot better than the pixel XL. The picture of the pixel XL is sort of lifeless. This wasn't brightly lit up area and again here. I feel both of them actually did a very good job, but the galaxy s 8 plus, is slightly sharper in this picture. Both of them do a good job, but I feel that the galaxy s 8 plus the colors, are a little more boosted.
But when you do a close-up, you can clearly see that notice that ? antenna on the pixel XL it has more details that rust was captured, whereas on the galaxy s 8 plus, it was not captured in close-up shots. I feel both the pixel at the galaxy is did a very good job, but in terms of Book II, the book is slightly better of the galaxy Plus. Thanks to the F 1.7 lens now, moving to indoor lighting in this picture, both the pixel and the galaxy s 8 I feel do a very good job, but in this picture clearly the pixel XL is doing a much better job. The picture is a lot brighter on the pixel AFCEL, whereas it's a lot darker on the galaxy s, 8 again that this picture also it's the same results the pixel, because it's of its superior Auto processing and the algorithms is able to produce a better looking picture in these indoor lighting conditions. Another picture in indoor lighting conditions, and here both of them actually do a good job of attacking in terms of dynamic range and sharpness.
The pixel is sharper than the galaxy is. Plus another picture is low lighting conditions, and here the galaxy s 8 picture looks a lot brighter, but do notice the sharpness. The sharpness is a lot more on the pixel X n. So, for me, the pixel, X and picture is a lot better in this situation. Another picture in my office again, this is in low lighting conditions, notice the wooden floor on the galaxy s 8 it's very soft, but on the pixel it has a lot more detail so clearly low lighting situations, the pixel is doing a better job.
Another picture in artificial lighting notice the wood grain under the mic. It's clearly more visible on the pixel XL. That simply means that the pixel XL is able to capture more detail than the galaxy is in artificial lighting conditions. Another pic taken in low lighting conditions in my office. Again, as you can see in low lighting conditions, the pixel XL is doing a far better job.
The background has more detail and is a lot more vibrant than the galaxy s 8. Now moving to the front-facing camera, even with the beauty face off with the Galaxy S8, it does smoothen of the skin. A little as you can see my face is a lot smoother on the galaxy s 8 some pay to the pixel exit in this picture. You'll notice that the pixel XL picture is a lot sharper, but the galaxy s 8 picture is a lot better to look. The skin is a lot smoother, even though I have disabled the beauty mode.
So, even if you disable the beauty mode, there is some skin smoothing with the galaxy s. AIT's front-facing camera recording this video side by side with the lecture, that's on the left and Galaxy S8 plus on the right and the pixel does not have any optical image stabilization, but it has excellent software based stabilization. So what we'll do is we'll also be just walking now. Let me actually first, this move closer than the objects and see which one is doing a better job in focusing and let's do the walk test now, I'm shooting this at 1080p. Both these devices can they caught up to 4k, but I'm, shooting it at 1080p for this sample and let's just do the walk test, and I'm doing the walk King normally, so you guys be a judge, and let me know in the comment section which one do you think is doing a better job.
You'll also be doing a focusing test now and let's see which one is doing a better job, for example, now I'll quickly just move to, and actually both of them are doing a good job in terms of focusing, as you can see, just move out and move to a close object like this, and it is the galaxies. A sickness is taking a couple of seconds, but if you just move out, it is actually doing a very good job, as you can see now. Recording this part of the video with the pixels excess, front-facing, camera and advocacy. This is an outdoor lighting condition and the audio is also being recorded by internal microphones. There is a little of bed, but you be our judge, and let me know what you think about the video recording with the front-facing camera again.
There's the example. We did recording in artificial lighting conditions in the later part of this video recording this video with the front-facing camera of the galaxy s 8 plus, and as you can see, this isn't outdoor conditions and the audio is also being recorded by internal micro panes. There is a little of bed, but you be a judge and let me know how so audio quality we'll also do a sample. Video recording in artificial lighting conditions in the later part of this, be here now recording the sample video with the front-facing camera of the galaxy s 8 plus, and as you can see, this is an artificial lighting in my office and I have the very mixed lighting in this area. So let's just move out and see how's that we did accord and by the way, this galaxy a scene in the is plus can record video in quad HD we are asked to pixel with the front facing camera.
Is anything so guys. This is Al another room and I have just white cube lighter switched on, so this should give you an idea. How will be the video recording with the front-facing camera of the galaxy s 8 plus now regarding this part of the video with the front-facing camera of the pixel? And, as you can see, I mean this is an artificial lighting conditions in my office and that the maximum of equality that the pixel can record with front-facing camera is at 1080p and let's just move on and see how it handles. So again, this is Olivia will have just what you like switch on, so the can idea how we do recording with the front-facing camera of the Google Places artificial lighting. Now how to look at the sample, shot, side-by-side, Bogey's devices and I have to say.
I was very surprised that if you talk about the rear facing camera in terms of static pictures, I feel overall, the pixel did a far better job. Yes, in some circumstances, the Galaxy S8 did the better, but when it comes to artificial lighting and low lighting conditions and indoor Lighting's, particularly the pixel, actually is doing a far better job compared to the Galaxy S8. Now, if we talk about video in terms of video stabilization, both of them at 1080p did a very good job, but again I would give the slight edge to the Galaxy S8, because the video was slightly more stabilized on the galaxy s 8 compared to the pixel in terms of audio pickup. Also, the audio pickup was louder on the galaxy s 8 in terms of medial, but again it also captured a lot more noise. For example, the wind noise was more evident on the galaxy s 8 plus.
So that is one thing you have to know now. Moving to the front-facing camera here we see a lot of difference in terms of sharpness again, the pictures of the pixel were a lot sharper from the front-facing camera, but again that the pictures were more pleasing, I would say from the front-facing camera of the Galaxy S II Plus. The thing is that, even though it has that beauty mode, Anaheim disables the beauty mode, then also it does apply a little of skin smoothing if you take pictures from the front-facing camera. So it's not truly faithful, but definitely the pictures look a lot better compared to the pictures that we shot with the pixel exit. So if you want the most accuracy again in the pixel, Excel has more accurate pictures, but again front-facing camera I would say: I will get the edge to the Galaxy S8.
Also, the fact is that the Galaxy S8 with its front facing camera can record video up to 2 K, whereas it's restricted to only 1080p, so we're all again. If you take a bite these devices and take pictures, you will get very good results with both these devices. But again, if we start to compare it side-by-side overall, I would say the pixel is still doing a better job, because the rear-facing camera performance is actually a lot better on the pixel compared to the galaxy eight plus, so guys, that's it for now, for this quick comparison and if you're not subscribe to my YouTube channel hit that subscribe button, full review for the Galaxy, S Inc and the SI plus will be coming out soon. So guys thanks for watching this is ranch, inked and I. Hope to see you in my next video.
