What is going on, my peeps are man, versatile is back with another video back here to finally drop my official review of the Samsung Galaxy s21. Yes, I have been using this device for over a month now, so I want to give my final thoughts on this now in terms of the camera and video portion of the review. Those would be basically separate in this video. I will give my okay on the cameras being very good. I haven't actually put my videos out yet for the camera test or the video test, so I will drop those shortly after dropping the review, but just know I really won't touch on the cameras in this video. It's really just overall aspect of using this phone now before we get into the video, if you guys haven't already make sure you guys ignite the like button on this video subscribe to the channel hit that notification bell.
So you never miss my videos that way we can sit back, relax and see. What's cracking now, let's get into the review and at the end of the video we're also going to basically discuss has Samsung peaked. The reason being is how well they have mastered their s-line. Yes, the galaxy s20 line was a very great leap forward from the s10 line. The s20 ultra, however, failed this year with the s21 series.
The s21 had the specific and right amount of improvements to put this head over heels above the s20 and the s21 ultra as well, although not being able to use it word of mouth has confirmed that the s21 ultra is beyond head over heels the s20 ultra. Now, what specifically, can we talk about that and first uh, the screen uh? The screen is magnificent. Right, Samsung continually improves the screen technology that they put into their phones and with the 1080p 120 hertz refresh rate, you notice it immediately. I know it's not as clean as it should be, but yes, this phone screen is great. Now, of course, the variable refresh rate is between 48 hertz and 120 hertz.
Now I have pretty much noticed it staying between 16 120, I believe it only drops to 48 when you need battery life, and so, if you take advantage of the battery power, saving modes and tools and settings within the phone or the galaxy apps feature, or the galaxy labs feature, you will even see more adjustment to towards how well that variable, refresh rate works with the screen, and I can confirm that I have not had any battery issues other than once or twice every now, and then you know you get a day when the battery just didn't last, as long as it should have, and I got that once or twice with this phone over the past month since having it. That being said, the screen has been magnificent, any problems that I've had with the phone overall uh. Just in the beginning, the first week there were a couple times where I hiccuped and then a couple of times when actually accessing the camera. It hiccuped, but outside that haven't seen those again and then, with the February security patch that they dropped for the galaxy s21. It actually refined and improved the overall stability of the device, including the camera, which was referenced in its notes, and I'm not seeing any issues since now.
What else can we talk about the hardware? This is where it set itself. Apart from the s20, the s20 all bit looked very good. It had the curved display and the camera module just felt blatantly, like a sore thumb, just stuck out like a sore thumb, whereas now with the s21, we see not only have they improved the color scheming, with this gradient, matted polycarbonate, of course, back finished in terms of phantom colors gray, white, pink black for the ultra even brown. I believe they have decided to go with the polycarbonate for the back, and I have not noticed it being like plastic. Of course, polycarbonate or glass stick in terms of Samsung devices.
We know that the 70 series, a 90 series, had glass stick on it and I believe that's what these have as well. Very durable haven't had any issues as you, some of you guys know, who've been following me understanding I drive trucks now. Well, I drive a truck size van being a delivery driver for FedEx and this phone's in my pocket constantly I'm using my legs, my body, to pick up boxes this phone right in my pocket, and before I even started putting the case on it, no issues in terms of durability, again with the camera module as well. It's now part of the frame which makes it feel more in unison, with the overall design aesthetic for the phone. That's one of the things I very, very much so appreciate the other thing that they did was they kept the power button below with the volume rocker on top on the right side of the phone, when looking at it from the display, I like that it remains consistent.
You build habits up understand like the note 10 series switched the buttons over to the left side, kind of threw people off, and I'm glad that for the s20 and now the s21 they're on the right side, they stay there they're tactile, they work. Just fine. No problems now in terms of software Samsung again continues to do their thing, which overall brings up the quality of the rest of their phones from before such as the s10 series s20 series, the note 10 series, the no 20 series, and now the s21 series dropping with one UI 3.1, could have been Samsung's greatest feat in terms of just how well tuned the software is and how much more Samsung has put thought into developing their software with the oneness of mind in terms of being able to access everything with one finger. You know the way that they do their settings and this and being able to reach ability. You can reach everything with one finger.
Furthermore, you don't have to use two fingers or two hands. If you don't want to one hand one finger Samsung, one UI is accomplishing that with 3.1 a lot of the features that was also integrated into one UI 3.1 was multitasking, slash, continued apps or app continuity features such as calling texts and continued apps, literally, where you could continue using your last app, and hopefully that grows over time with other devices such as a tablet. From Samsung's ecosystem, what a beauty to see with them improving their software from long ago touch wiz is no more walking through the chamber door. Edgar Allen, POE Samsung, one UI is here, and it's here to stay, and I like that, there's a little more google integration. We know google home is a part of it.
Now we also have heard rumors that the next galaxy was- this is galaxy, watch actor 2, but the galaxy watch 3 successors may run android wear, and it's starting to look and or there may be very, very light speculation. But what? If Samsung and google form an alliance to build great hardware with Google software now that doesn't take away from Samsung software, but we also know how great how just google's software is straight up. Android, I don't want to call it vanilla, but their take their fresh. Take on android is beautiful and Samsung's right there behind them now, with one UI being so good. So I'm looking forward to what Samsung can do with their software outside that.
But just know software is doing their thing with this phone and I feel, like I got a scratch on this phone as well battery life, as alluded to before you can use several features within the stock, Samsung experience or downloading galaxy labs to take advantage of other battery saving features techniques to improve battery life. On this I did I just downloaded galaxy labs like the other day, just to see if I can even maximize that much more without taking away from my 120 hertz, without taking away from apps. I like to use, I like, using their enhanced processing, feature on here that now that I've had a month to really check out and see if it works or not. I haven't quite noticed whether that really does boost this ability, the processor within the galaxy s21, but nonetheless, I have had no issues with battery life regardless uh, as I said, only once or twice have. Furthermore, I actually noticed like it just drained faster than normal, but I have not had an issue with the galaxy s21 battery has been phenomenal.
Furthermore, I've been able to, of course, get six seven hours of screen on time. Maybe eight if I really tried, but I don't even try, just use the phone and again in terms of how battery should actually be thought about. It should really matter about how long the phone lasts for you not necessarily screen on time. If you can pick up the phone off the charger when you wake up in the morning, and you can make it home and not have to put it on the charger until, if not you go to bed until you get home from work or wherever you can put it on the charger, and then you can pick it up where maybe you won't need it as much because now you're at home, that's good battery life, that's battery life that we should look forward to with these devices, because no longer do we have to rush to a charger when they last for the amount of time that we need it, and even if you needed to charge it, we know we live in the day and age of chargers everywhere: wireless chargers in the car charger ports. So you can tiredly charge your phones, you can charge your phone at work.
You can charge your phone ROG on there everywhere or anywhere. You are including some restaurants. So it's interesting now that, with the ability and availability of chargers, battery life really won't be as much of a problem anymore and Samsung is showing that, with the galaxy s21 great, as I said, camera video wise, I haven't had any issues posting on social media. I haven't had any issues and those two videos will drop soon after this review. To really get show you guys how the cameras are and how video is for the galaxy s21.
So now this begs the question has Samsung peaked? Yes, the reason why we're asking that is for everything that I just said in terms of the galaxy s 21, where else can Samsung go for the s line? We understand that this year they brought the s pen to the s21 ultra, and that is a form of Samsung peaking, because now that the note series is no more, and it has basically merged with the top tier of the s line, what else can they do outside of finding a way to fit the s pen into the phone, integrating it into the hardware? What else can they do? We know software is the only other place that they can really continue to build upon what they're doing build upon their success because hardware again there's not too much else. They could do to make this look good. We all wanted flat displays back, and we get that with the s21. The only other thing I can think of is they either beef out the phone. So that way we no longer have camera humps, or they slim down the camera module hump.
So that way it's flesh, and it's just one- you know evenly built phone. The other thing I can think of is finding a way to maybe add a speaker towards the top, maybe not an in-display speaker, because the once we get all bit good. You really only get one down here, and you notice the difference in volume between portrait mode watching and landscape watching. So it's little small, subtle things that Samsung can do to improve the overall hardware, but there really isn't much anything else at that point: you're looking at a plateau in terms of steady going like this, because you found that place where you can just coast and ride and maintain success all bit little bumps here and there, but there really isn't much else. Samsung can do in terms of their hardware.
Now. One idea I had for Samsung is to possibly incorporate much of good lock into their software now. The reason why I think they won't is that maybe it may bog down the phone with the amount of features that they have or that they've actually cut away from, but considering some of the features that is within good lock within some of their modules, whether it's quick, quick start, multi-star, home up, node, star, the know the clock style right where you can actually get additional, lock, screen clocks or always on display clocks. You have some of those features, that's already in the stock software. So why not just add those additional few settings into that as opposed to having to build it out into its own separate individual app.
I feel like if we can incorporate a lot more of that into the settings. I don't see that really bogging down the software at all and with the snapdragon 888 within the s21, which is a really honing in on gaming. By the way I know I didn't touch on that, because I don't game on my phone, but the snapdragon, 888 and Qualcomm themselves continues to improve their quality of processors. What else can Samsung do unless, and they add hardware to attach with this, such as gaming accessories? Now we know what their other accessories or other hardware would be tablets, watches buds you know I'm saying the like, but in terms of their phones, the s line itself may have finally peaked, especially now that the s pen has made it to the s line, and that's not a bad thing. If anything.
That just shows that now Samsung can just maintain that, by continuing to provide good hardware and continuing to improve and sophisticate their software, adding in software that allows us to use our devices interchangeably is where Samsung needs to go to maintain that drive up in terms of success instead of plateauing. Now I think they will be doing that, considering that they've added app continuity to 3.1 and, of course, that should evolve with 3.2 so on and so forth. But I really think that that's where Samsung can find a way to continue to climb the hill is if they continue to improve their software to work seamlessly and flawlessly with their other devices. As I mentioned before, the auto switch feature with the galaxy watch and the gear s3 does not work that well, it's very finicky, that's something that they need to improve on. In order to maintain that success, we should not have issues like that.
If it's a feature that you've added, and we have trouble using that feature, they also have a feature called active switch for the buds to then switch between devices. Whenever you know you're playing audio from a device, the buzz will smartly, or you know, intelligently, switch between devices. That's where again, that feature needs to be working seamlessly for it to be a proven feature and not just a quote-unquote gimmick. Those are some of the things that I talk about or that Samsung can really hone in on to continue to climb that hill and not necessarily plateau, although plateauing still won't be bad and those little subtle. Improvements won't be no drastic draw drive.
But, as I said, you have little bumps along that plateau. That kind of come up and come back down. Hopefully, it doesn't dip down the other way, but as long as it maintains this kind of through put line the straight line, or even it's a slight slanted, where it's still kind of going up. The reason why it's going to be doing this is because of software and will no longer be because of hardware and that's something I think we can look forward to when it comes to Samsung and the s line and Samsung in general, given that their hardware continues to refine and evolve with the go foldable series. As an example, we got multiple iterations of the fold series.
We have the z flip and what seems to be a successor to the flip, and then we know soon never find a way to implement a digitizer to allow the s pen to then accessorize the fold, series, Samsung and hardware, no problem, it's their software, that they have finally gotten perfect at, but they need to continue that train in order to continue to drive success for them and their brand, specifically the s line. That is it for the review. Hope you guys appreciate and enjoyed it. Let me know down in the comments below what you guys think about the s21 and do you guys think Samsung has peaked? What areas do you think Samsung can improve in whether it's the phones, the tablets, their wearables, their earbuds? Let me know down in the comments section below but again, if you guys haven't already and like the like button, subscribe to the channel hit that notification bell.
