Hi guys today's beauty and welcome back to a brand-new video. Now today's a big day I was lucky enough to be invited to an exclusive launch event or sort of pre-launch event. Yesterday, from Samsung of a smartphone with four cameras and I'm going to talk you through exactly what went down so without further ado, let's get straight to it. So yeah over the last few days, I've been in London for a couple of different launches and none more important, of course, than yesterday at Samsung's event, which was the first sort of hands-on look at the brand-new Samsung a9. Now, if you've been following me on my other social medias, Twitter and Instagram, you would have seen me post a few sorts of little teaser little clues about what was happening. I can't go into any more detail on that at the time, but now we're ready.
Now the launch has happened, we're ready to rock and roll. So, let's get straight to all the information regarding the world's first 4k, no 4 camera, the world's first four rear camerae set up on a smartphone, and this sort of main Samsung marketing pitch is angled towards the social media sort of people who love to use Instagram, for example, and just wants all the tools necessary to take some great shots and have it all kind of wrapped into one device. Also, there are a lot of other great selling points about the smartphone which we'll get to, but that just to give you an idea, if you're very into your cameras, for example, then that's the angle they're going in now the a9 is kind of a mid-tier phone from Samsung. It's got a lot of very, very good specs, a great design, but it comes in almost half the price of the Samsung Note 9 as an example. So we're talking 500, odd pounds so great for you guys who are potentially looking to save some money but still want the kind of reassurance of a brand that you recognized a big brand name at a cheaper price.
Obviously they have cut corners over the note 9 & S 9, for example, that's understandable to have knocked the price down. So also there was the note 9, the s 9, the s 9, plus the J 4, plus the J, 6 plus and, of course, the a7 which has a triple camera and was released in September. But today we're going to be focusing on the big one, the big announcement, the galaxy a9, and it's got lots of different great selling points, none more so than of course, the world's first four camera setup. So before we get to that sort of main selling point, let's talk about the rest of the specs, so we've got a 3800 mAh battery capacity, which straightaway is very good. You know even beating the likes of the s9 and the s9 plus, not quite as big as the note 9, but there are tons of smartphones on the market that certainly don't have as big a capacity as 3800 Snapdragon 660.
Now this isn't the a45, it's not the best on the market, but there are a lot of great smartphones out there that use this specific SOC and while it won't be quite as good as the Snapdragon 805, like I, said at gaming, for example, and a few sorts of high-end really heavy intensive tasks, it will across the board for what the average consumer uses a smartphone for it's gonna, absolutely breeze, 6, gigabytes of RAM, 128, gigabytes of storage and a micro SD card slot for expandable storage, proper 512 gigabytes. So these are all really, really impressive specs. It also comes with a type C port for charging. One speaker, I, haven't had a chance to really test that, hopefully we'll be able to do more testing on the phone as a whole as time goes on. Android, 8, Oreo straight from the box now I would imagine there'll be an update to Android Pi in the future.
Quite when that will be I, don't know something tend to not be that great in terms of being the quickest to upgrade comes in three different colors caviar, black bubblegum, pink and lemonade blue I. Think now, I personally quite liked the lemonade, blue, color I, don't think I'd necessarily go with a pink, but I know it would be popular for some people and the caviar black again is a great color for lots of different people. I just quite liked the vibrant, blue color myself. But there is one thing to confirm, and that is all three of them look very, very premium in the hand, I would say more so than the mid-tier price range if they fit into. To be honest, you know there is no question that Samsung makes some of the best design, smartphones on the market, it has NFC and something pay.
And another great thing for a lot of people is the fact that the Bixby button is now on the opposite side to the power button and the volume rocker as well. So where people possibly on the note, 9 and the s9, were hitting the Bixby button when they were trying to go for the volume you're not going to have that problem on the a9 and that's a positive thing. I would imagine you still probably won't be able to remap it, but that's a debate for another day, so we do have a 6.3 inch, full HD, plus Super AMOLED display 2280 by 1080 and, yes, it seems on first viewing like it's a pretty good display. It's not as good as the note 9, for example, when you compare them side-by-side the note and I looked far better and that's just you know, you would expect that being the fact that it is 400 pounds more. Are there better displays on the market absolutely, but this isn't really one of the selling points of the a9.
One of the big selling points of the a9 is, of course, being the world's first 4 camerae set up like I mentioned, and let's get straight to that right now. So the 4 cameras are as follows. The first one is a 24 megapixel lens with F 1.7, a picture. The secondary lens is there to help with the both effect the depth effect. Whatever you want to call it.
You know when you're taking portrait photos, for example, and you want that nice blur effect behind you, that's where this one comes in and that depth lens is a 5 megapixel camera with F to point to a picture. Then we've got the third lens, which is a telephoto lens with 2 times, optical zoom, and that is 10 megapixels with autofocus and F 2.4 aperture and then the final remaining camera- and this is one of the biggest selling points- is the 120 degree ultra wide-angle lens, it's 8 megapixels with F 2.4, aperture and I actually tested all three of the lenses, and you can see all three of them here now the same photo taken with the three different setups and, as you can see, it gives you so much freedom and variety in your photos to take various different shots from just that one scene now I did notice, and this is by no means a sort of set in stone review because I haven't tested it enough, but I did notice that the color kind of shifts between the different modes. It seemed to me anyway, the closer it got to the subject. The warm we got so the wide-angle looked fairly cool, and a telephoto looked fairly. Warm I also noticed that there's a shift in brightness as well of the actual image like I, said I, do need to test it more to sort of find out whether that's a reoccurring thing and then, of course, we've got the front-facing camera, which is a 24 megapixel lens with F 2.0 aperture and you've got things like portrait mode, for example, or sort of selfie focused you'd on the note 9, an option which you can use on the a9 that a lot of other mid-tier priced phones don't have. So that is pretty much it.
Let me know in the comment section below what you think about the Samsung, a 9 and some other smartphones, I sort of flashed up earlier in the video. Do you like the idea of having 4 cameras? For example, do you like the fact that there's a wide-angle to telephoto depth effects, you know and the main one all-in-one, and what do you think of the design, the color choices and all the internals like the snapdragon 616? For example, let me know what you think about Samsung's choices with those and overall for me, I think on paper and in sort of first hands-on testing, it's a great phone for the price I'd like to test it more to sort of know if there are any more downfalls that I didn't quite notice at first for it to sort of fit into that meteor price range and also feel the Samsung kind of get that are quite a lot of our press. Sometimes to do with pricing and I. Think it's refreshing to see a know a pretty great device in that sort of price range. It just gives the consumers a choice at the end of the day and choice is great.
We love choice like it.
