2020 iPad Battery Drain Test / iPad Pro 12.9" & 11-Inch vs iPad Air vs 10.2" iPad vs iPad Mini 5

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it's that time again, it's time for my 2020 iPad battery drain test, where I put each and every current iPad in Apple's official lineup and have them Duke it out to see who will win the king of iPad battery for 2020. This video was brought by popular demand as soon as the new iPad pros were released. I wasn't sure at first, since the iPad, Mini, 5 and iPad Air haven't been refreshed. Yet, since my last video, so I made a poll and had you guys choose over 80% of you wanted to see this video and well here, it is. If you haven't watched my prior iPad battery drain test, you can click the card at the top right or click the link in the description to view to date. That video is my most watched, video with more than half a million views and guys man.

It just means the world to me to think half a million people have heard my voice on the Internet. All I can say is thank you to everyone who supports me from the bottom of my heart, and it comes right at the best time, since this is my first video since I officially hit 25,000 subscribers, and again I'm forever thankful, but you guys didn't come here to see a sentimental sob fest. You know what you came here for so honestly enough with the intro, but before we do get into that pause this video right now and comment down below which iPad you think is going to win. Did you do it bet? Let's get right into it. I know you guys are going to love this battery drain test.

Let's hop right into it, man look guys I'll, go ahead and tell you even testing this was so entertaining to me. You have no idea, you'll see what I mean I hope you guys grab some snacks and maybe a few drinks enter cozy up in bed. All quarantined like we're supposed to be that's right, I'm, looking at you way in the back yeah you come on. Man just stay home, do a solid for all of Earth and stay home. So all of this madness can end already so anyway.

I won't spend too much time on specs I'll, throw each device's specs up on the screen right now, in particular, look at screen size, screen resolution and physical battery size, as these three will give you a good indication at how the devices batteries will perform. Bigger devices do have bigger batteries, but the bigger iPads also have much bigger screens, which means more pixels to push out and also more screen real estate to illuminate with that backlighting all right. Currently, the reigning champion is the 11 inch. iPad pro will to defend his title and come out on top again, let's find out so as always guys I was very meticulous and making sure every setting was identical. Wi-Fi was hooked up to the same Wi-Fi network.

All five are running iPadOS 13 point for brightness was set to 70% on each device using Siri, so I knew it was accurate. True tone turned off, and auto lock set to never just to name a few settings. I always try to make these tests super fair and not give certain iPads an advantage or disadvantage. You'll notice each iPad has their respective tank stock, wallpaper I love all of them, and this time around I provided all the links to the new wallpapers in the description. So at the very least, a like would be greatly appreciated for the endless hours I spent on this test, for you guys and if you really enjoyed it subscribe for future content.

Just like this. Okay, so for our very first test, what I decided to do was run the newest season of Marcos Mexico on each device. Normally I only have Sundays to film these time-consuming tests, so I typically like to replicate real-world media consumption at first. That way, I can knock out all of my errands out of the way, because later on, I'm kind of forced to be stuck in my room and take care of these iPads. So I set each iPad running for three hours, while I ran some errands and pick some dunking coffee and Taco Bell, which later proved to be a horrible mistake.

But after three hours, I was extremely surprised to see that our iPad Mini five dropped all the way to forty-five percent out. That's a huge blow, but the ten point two-inch iPad dropped to a more respectable sixty-six percent, while the air was at sixty-one percent. The 11-inch pro at sixty-one percent as well and our big boy, the one I occasionally call Mr. chubby dropped to fifty-three percent missing cardio day, as is pretty evident so after our preliminary results, three hours on Netflix, with the average of all five iPads being 57.2%. What do you think drop more than I expected, but then again I mean that is three whole hours on Netflix up next I decided to do a gaming test, since after all, iPads have been known to be the best devices to mobile game on as long as you're stationary they're the best because crossing the street? With my massive twelve point, nine-inch iPad playing clash, royale almost got my ass ran over, but that's a different story for another day.

I had the legendary temp will run to playing since this game loops endlessly. If you happen to lose in game, which is perfect for this kind of test. So after 30 minutes, the iPad Mini now stands at 35 percent. Approaching one-third battery capacity left at only three hours and thirty minutes into our testing, the 10.2 inch sits at a comfy 55 percent, while the air sits at 52 percent, followed by the 11-inch pro at half capacity and then the twelve point nine inches pro at forty-one percent, so two tests in is your pick. Winning for my next test.

I wanted to test something out, as some of you may know, iPads along with MacBooks have spectacular standby time, while the display is turned off. It isn't uncommon for me to have my iPad Air chilling on my desk for a whole week, sometimes two and still have enough juice left in it for the occasional web surfing when I come back. That's why, for this test, I wanted to let these babies take a breather re-up on some energy fill up that gas tank and get ready to come back swinging. The display was turned off for a whole 90 minutes, and after that we come to the following numbers: the iPad Mini dropped only a single percentage down to 34 percent, while the 10.2 inch dropped. Two percentage points down to 53 percent the air 11-inch and chubs, followed suit, with the mini I've, dropping just a single percentage, making their numbers drop to 5149 and 40 percent respectively.

Now is an important time to mention battery degradation, as some of you may know, battery degradation is when your battery becomes weaker over time and holds less of a charge. This is standard knowledge for most people, but for those who don't know each one of these iPads includes a lithium-ion polymer battery, which is pretty standard for most consumer electronics. All of these iPads are essentially brand new within a year old, so battery degradation isn't too big of a concern just wanted to. Let you guys know in case some of you were wondering battery health is super important not only to the well-being of your device, but for testing purposes. It's essential that way.

You have a more controlled test. Otherwise, it's like a 10-year-old racing, their 80-year-old grandpa on the fifty-meter dash, like you, tell me, who's probably gonna, win now moving right along to our fourth test, the camera recording test. So first things. First consistency: you already know I wanted to make sure all we're filming at the same settings as having for film at 1080p, while one film that 4k would skew the results and force me to shut down the test and would only have time to film again next Sunday, so yeah I didn't want to do that. Each iPad was set to record at 30 FPS 1080p resolution.

I figured not many people film on their iPads as much as they do on their iPhones. So I did this test for just 20 minutes and after those 20 minutes, the iPad Mini drops only 5% down to 29%. The 10.2 is still holding relatively strong at 47 percent. The air at 45, the 11pro at 43 and the twelve point nine inches having to pump out all those pixels on that massive display. I'm assuming, is lagging behind.

It's 11 inch counterpart at 33 percent. These results are pretty consistent as a result. In my previous battery drain test for the iPad showed the twelve point. Nine inches trailing behind the 11-inch pro by a sizable margin, but all in all the 10.2 inch, the air and the 11-inch pro seem to be the ones to watch as they are neck-and-neck. We still have a handful of tests to go.

No slowing down for the next one. I wanted to see how Apple Pencil use would drain battery for this test. I drew scroll through menus and even played a match of Clash Royale on each device. Furthermore, I did this for seven minutes on the dot per iPad, while the rest stayed idle awaiting their turn. It was cool drawn on these by the way, as I forgot.

Just how powerful and precise the Apple Pencil is also another note. The iPad pros are at that juicy 120 Hertz refresh rate, because I mean who doesn't have the iPad Pro at 120 Hertz. So, while the mini 510 point 2 inch and air are only capable of a 60 Hertz refresh rate, the pros double that, but as you'll see, their processors are able to manage all that fluid goodness quite well. The mini 5 falls to 20 percent after this test. Just a fifth capacity, the 10.2 inch falls to 38 percent the air narrows the gap and makes it a closer race down only one percentage point away now down to 37 percent, while the 11-inch pro is now at 35 and the 12 point 9 it's down to 24 percent, then it only seems logical for the next test to replicate an Apple Pencil charge test similarly. So once again, I charged one pencil on each device for the four other ones remain chilling.

It kind of reminded me of how the boys are chilling waiting to get that bench press and while one of us knocks out their set, it's kind of like that. The iPad pros charged the Apple Pencil to magnetically on the sides, while the others have this idiotic way of charging. That makes them look like unicorns I know, total fell by Apple and a fat elf or all the boys at Apple HQ anyway, after the Apple Pencil charge test, the mini now falls to red territory, down to 12 percent. The 10 point to instill in the lead at 31 percent, but with the air following close behind right at 30 percent. The 11-inch pro was the current champion coming into this test, but so far is in third place at 28 percent and as bigger relative Mr.

chubby falls down to red as well coming in at 18 percent. We're now approaching the championship rounds. It seems the 11-inch might have its title snatched from its hands. This is getting perfect for the second to last test. You know what I had to do had a hit up that social media and browse Twitter to catch up on memes, but, to my surprise, there's very little memes going on it's just new stuff on the global catastrophe going on right now.

It's sad I know anyway, just for safe measures, all iPads were on dark mode and I scrolled through each one in a similar pattern throughout the entirety of the test, I tried keeping the same information up on, and this is where you'll begin to notice. Just how much more information is readily available to view on the twelve point, nine inches as compared to the smaller mini I left the iPads on for 60 minutes on Twitter, while I contemplated with myself whether a late night snack was appropriate. I asked my girlfriend if one of those chili with lime, Marchman and cinnamon, toast crunch was the move. She said no, and I obviously didn't listen and just know: I paid the ultimate price when I was awoken at 6:00 a. m.

crazy. How I make these poor decisions time and time again, but sometime during this test, the mini couldn't anymore and unfortunately tapped out at 7 hours and 58 minutes almost approaching the 8 hour. Mark hey, that's some slack, but better luck. Next time any the other 4 did survive with the 10 point, tools finishing the test with 20% the air at 18, the iPad Pro 11 inches caught up swinging back. Putting on a show now at 18% and the 12 point 9 is Pro, looks like it's a battle throw in the towel finishing at 7%.

This is it, ladies and gentlemen. We get into the last round and like how you should do after viewing this video. We hit up YouTube cranked up my battery drain test playlist and let these suckers battle it out until there was one device standing. This is such a close race. Will there be a surprise winner? Will the 10.2 inch maintain its lead and snatched the W? Will the air be the dark horse and claim gold man? This is crazy, but as expected, the 12 point 9 inches. iPad pro met its fate, just like the mini 5, at going lights out at 8 hours and 32 minutes surviving a little over half an hour more than the mini 5.

So now with two iPads eliminated. How do the rest stand? You won't believe it at this point in the competition that 10.2 inch is at 13%, the air at 12 and the 11 inch not wanting to give up its belt having a heart of gold squeezing out every ounce of juice is now tied for first place. It's also at 13%. I was tentatively watching. These I was honestly so amused its anyone's race at this point, but unfortunately the next to go was the mighty air throwing in the towel at 9 hours and 28 minutes, and then there were two, the iPad 10.2 in and the 11-inch Pro. Remarkably, the 10.2 inch hits one percent, while the 11-inch Pro, like some gluconate, is now in the lead with two percent battery remaining, it looks like the 11 inch will remain our champion, but wait. What holds on what's going on here? I can't, I just can't believe this there's no way.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen, despite catching the lead there at the end, the 11 inch couldn't take anymore and unfortunately met its fate at 9 hours and 36 minutes, and just like that, unbelievably only two minutes later, a hundred and twenty seconds after the 11-inch Pro that 10.2 inch goes out at 9 hours and 38 minutes. Unbelievable. This test was insane. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new winner and new iPad battery drain test, King, give it up for the 10.2-inch iPad. So what have we learned today? I learned something and that's what the biggest devices aren't always necessarily the winner when it comes to battery life, as you could see, the smallest battery and screen was last place and the biggest green in battery came in fourth place.

This is really consistent with my last battery drain test as I believe the mini and twelve point. Nine inch were the first to go, but man what a showdown between the air temple in two inches and 11 inch pro in my last test. I'm also 99% sure the air came in third, but you know what I think made the difference this time, despite the nine point, seven inches and the 10.2 inch having the same exact battery size at eight thousand, eight hundred and twenty-seven William hours. The new 10.2 inch now features three gigabytes of RAM, instead of two gigabytes found on the nine point, seven inches. Additionally, the new 10-point Tunes features a better, more advanced Apple, 810 fusion ships, with a quad-core architecture versus the previous, a nine that was a dual-core chip, so I feel that leap to a quad-core design really helped they catch that w.

It just goes to show how specs matter when it comes to battery preservation and feel like that extra gigabyte of ram enabled the 10.2 needs to come out on top this time around, but either way with two minutes apart man. Let's just give it up to both the 11 inch and the 10.2. Is there both winners in my eyes, but guys that's been it I truly enjoy making this content, for you guys and hope you enjoy it alike would be appreciated for all the hours I put into these tests. Just for your enjoyment, hitting that subscribe, button with bells would mean even more to me again. You'll, never miss out on any of my future content, we're still under lockdown.

So don't worry, I'll continue, pushing out more content for you guys to enjoy until next time take care, and I'll see you on my next video.
