Hey, what's up guys take time here, and I am back again with a brand-new video, so in today's video I'm going to be reviewing the camera on the Samsung Galaxy 820, so yeah I'm going to be doing a performance, a separate performance test, as well as a review to just round everything up. So if you haven't subscribed to the channel, make sure you're already subscribed. Also follow me on my Instagram and I will leave more pictures of more sample pictures of the galaxy 8 when you say I follow me there. If you want to see more shots on the 20 s, camera, okay, so let's go ahead and get started. First, let's start with the way to launch the camera app. So pretty simple straight to the point, other you just launch the camera app the normal way or just double tap the power button, and you will get to the camera so now, as far as the camera specs, let's start with the back.
So on the back, you have two cameras, one a 13 megapixel at F 1.9, and it is a 28 millimeter lens. The other one is a 5 megapixel, ultra-wide camera, with F 2.2 at 12 millimeters and as far as video quality, it does shoot at up to 1080p, and I'll. Show you sample video in terms of the selfie camera. It is an 8 megapixel at F, 2.0 aperture, and you do have the support. Did a software support to switch between standard and wide-angle I'll show you the sample shots? Okay.
So, let's start with the camera interface, so it is a Samsung. Camera interface and I talked about it in my galaxy 810 II review, so that will also be linked in the description. So on the top, you have different options. You have your setting flash your timer as well as the option to change between the aspect ratio. You know, after that, full aspect, ratio or if you want 16 by 9 and on the bottom.
Furthermore, you also have a couple of options you can switch between your photo. Video live focus your pro mode, as well as your panorama mode. Let's go back to photo and in the photo side you do have the option to switch between the standard lens and the wide-angle lens. Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about picture quality. So as far as the picture goes, it's if you can already tell that it's a Samsung phone one, it does love to saturate photos which meant which, which does make photos pop and if you're, looking for the natural look.
This is just not for you because, hey we already know what Samsung is about now. As far as picture quality in general goes: it's a nice picture. If I'm really nitpicking, it does kind of brightens the picture just a little in the background, but overall a pretty good picture that I'm satisfied with. So if we switch it to the wide-angle, it is and I is nice. The white angle is nice, I mean for real honestly when I was taking pictures and I switch to the white angle.
I, don't know I just had a different type of joy, I, don't know you normally use wide-angle lenses on smartphones, but yeah this kinda. Actually, this kinda actually changed my perspective on white angles, so I'm really glad that they put in a wide-angle lens on the on a budget smartphone. So, however, the picture quality does take a hit, so the colors do look a little dull or not as vibrant they're, not as colorful. So if you go back, you see that this picture, just no, it just pops more. What if you just go back to the wide-angle lens I, don't know the picture is a little darker they're a bit dulled hey! You can still get that wide angle effect.
So that's pretty cool. Now in the next. In this next picture, I was testing out the colors and yeah. It is also a little saturated but hey like I, said before: that's just what Samsung do they do like their saturated pictures? Yeah. This is the standard view, and this is the wide angle, and here I was just trying to test out the both effect, and it's okay.
It's not really amazing or anything like that. It doesn't really have a dedicated portrait mode or anything crazy like that, but it still does a decent job and blurring out the background and when it when the Sun hits right. Let me tell you: this phone produces some pretty nice shots, pretty respectable pictures, and this is it at wide-angle, and in this next picture, I was testing out the dynamic range, and it's still I mean like I said this is a budget phone, so I have to treat it that way. The sky is what the sky looks. Nice.
However, when you zoom in to the tree, there's literally no color, so the shadows are just out of the picture, just dark, there's no detail or color in the tree, and here it is at white angle, so it gives it a nice effect and I, like I, said in the beginning: I, like the wide angle effect okay. So this is another test of the color and the focus and speaking of focus, you do have to double tap, to focus a couple of times in order to get your subject in focus, I did have trouble. I did have some problems with that that could be fixed with a software update so but yeah I just wanted to. Let you guys know- and this is a standard lens- and this is the wide angle and like I said, the standard lens just gives a better quality picture, but the wide angle is just the cooler effect, so yeah keep that in mind. Now, as far as the video quality, here's the sample video test that I took so check it out, hey, what's up guys, take time here, and I am back again with a brand-new video.
So this is just a test of the Samsung Galaxy 820, video and yeah. It's nice sunny days for perfect timing, just test this phone first, the video goes. It does produce some pretty respectable video. So when the Sun, when the Sun is hitting right, then you're going to get some nice colors and the microphone actually sounds pretty decent. Now, the cool thing is that you can switch between the can have you who do have the ability to record your video in wide-angle mode.
You won't be able to do it while recording the video, so you'd have to stop and then hit record again and change it to the white angle. But hey, oh my god. That white angle looks really nice. Like I said the quality does take a little of a hit, but come on its nice, it's nice, one more thing, so you can also shoot in this wide angle lens. However, you can't really change it when you're actually taking the video.
So you have to stop the video and rerecord to get this wide-angle view really nice, so yeah wide-angle lens for the wine. So we talked about the back facing camera. So, let's quickly cover up on the front facing lens. So here's what I do have to say about it. The front facing camera doesn't have a beauty mode turn it off as soon as you can.
So it does soften up the face quite a bit, but overall, as far as colors go like. If you look at the color of my jersey, it's a night, it's nice, it produced some really nice saturated colors, like I, said I'm a fan of saturated colors. If you're, if you're looking for their natural look, this is just not the phone for you, and you do have the software option, so it doesn't really have a wide-angle lens or anything like that. But you do have the ability to switch between this standard view and wide-angle via software, it's not as impressive as just a dedicated lens but hey. If you want to fit more people in one selfie or just want to get more of your background, then you can do that with this wide-angle.
Okay, so my final words on the camera. If I were to give it a score in the budget world, this definitely is a respectable nice camera. It's its not going to rival, flagships, I shouldn't even be comparing it to flexes, because you're looking at a significant price difference between a flagship phone and the galaxy 820. So yeah keep that in mind. It is a respectable camera.
It doesn't have any like any crazy 4k option or portrait mode or anything like that, but to me that doesn't matter if I'm we average come if I'm an average consumer that just wants to post pictures on Facebook Instagram or just in they use Snapchat, then this will. This will be satisfactory for sure, especially when you post it on social media I mean social media is already gonna. It's not gonna, give you the full quality. So what are you posting we're using a flagship or using a budget phone? It's still like I said this phone will produce some respectable pictures on social media and even without social media, it still is. It does produce respectable pictures.
So yeah, that's basically the point that I'm trying to get across this phone does have a nice camera in the budget. World and I will definitely only get a thumbs up from me. I'm really glad that Samsung upgraded a lot of things from their J lineup last year to their Galaxy, a lineup and, like I said, a dedicated performance test will be coming right after this video, and I'm trying to produce three to four minimum of three videos a week to seven, not even trying I will be producing minimum of three videos a week and seven maximum, so yeah make sure you're subscribed and hey that's pretty much it if you guys enjoyed this video like this. Video subscribe to the channel like I, said, and I will definitely catch you guys in the next video and yeah, oh and like I, said also keep an eye on my Instagram page for more sample shots on the Galaxy 820. If you want to see other things covered, let me know I'll definitely do it and thank you all so much for watching, and I will catch you guys in the next video thanks for watching.
