Hello guys as early as now, let me say that I know exactly the reason why you are watching this video. Of course, this phone is getting a lot of attention up until today. So I guess you want to know if this phone is worth it for its price. That's why, in this video, I am going to give you what you are looking for. This product review is different from I usually do, because in this video we are going to talk about the pros, the cons and all the issues that you might encounter. If you want to purchase this device I'll serve that to the table right away, no sugar, coating etc.
This is just an honest opinion. So without further ado, let's get started. The Poco m3 is known as the budget king of 2020, and it is still wearing the crown up until now. Looking at the specs of this device, I don't really have any doubts about that title. So, let's go ahead and talk about the pros or anything that can make this device better than any other budget smartphone in the market.
Today. First is the weight of this device? This is actually lighter than what I thought it is and, surprisingly, slimmer, considering that this phone is packed with six thousand milliampere battery, this phone is very comfortable to hold even in long hours of use. Next is the battery having a six thousand milliampere battery capacity could bring this device to the next level. I haven't tested the actual performance yet, but the phone with this battery size will expect to last the whole day of usage or even more. Another advantage of this device is the screen.
It has a punchy, 1080p resolution which brighter and clearer compared to other budget phones. The display is good, and I haven't noticed any screen discoloration so far. Also, this phone has a modern, USB c slot. It has an audio jack with triple slot for dual sim and storage expansion. The side mounted fingerprint sensor is another plus point for this device.
It also has a dual speaker, although the loudness is pretty average, but at least we have dual speaker in here. So just in case something happens to one speaker. We still have another one working anyway. Here's some audio samples, that's all for the pros. If I missed something, please free to comment down below now.
Let's talk about the cons and every device in any budget segment has it. Any cons may not be a big deal, but it could be a dealbreaker for some of you. First cons are actually given to all budget device from Xiaomi or polo, going back to the package. There's no earphone included in the box just to set your expectation. If you don't have any existing earphones, you have to consider buying one for this device.
Next is the design. I know that this is subjective, but as much as I love the uniqueness of the design, the big Poco branding at the back is really unnecessary. I'm speaking my opinion. So please don't get me wrong. We have different taste by the way.
Next thing that I don't really like is the fact that it is still using the classic notch for this device. Considering that punch hole, design is pretty common this day. Also, bezels in every side are thicker for today's standard. Next is the camera. I must say that it could be a big cut out for this device, but don't feel bad because the camera can still manage to capture a better photo if there's a better lightning on the area, though upon zooming in some details got distorted and soften.
In some conditions, photos appears really soft. The blur effect on the portrait mode is unpolished, and the blur area appears very aggressive. The output from front camera is also soft, and the output from portrait mode appears unnatural. This device doesn't have a night mode feature in it. Photo output during the night is somehow okay, but you may lose a lot of details upon zooming in there are also some part of the photos that are softened in a very distorted way.
Front camera during the night can still manage to capture a decent shot without too many distortions, but please make sure to lower your expectations. Video output during the day is sharp, but since it doesn't have a stabilization, the output appears very shaky. Video output using the front camera is actually terrible. I hate to say this, but it looks like an old school computer webcam. There's a flickering effect on it, and you might observe a lot of noise.
On the other hand, the video output during the night is distorted as expected, and a lot of area appears blurred and shaky. Overall, I think the camera performance is below average. So if you are buying a device for vlogging or photography, this is not a device for you. This device is also not a gaming phone gaming. Experience on this device is actually bad.
You might encounter a lot of frame drops and stutters while playing high graphics games, but at least they are playable. You just need to modify the graphic setting for a better experience. Next is the body the frame and the back part of this phone is made of plastic for a budget phone. This is not a big deal even for me, and actually I like the texture of the back. It looks like a leather, although this is just a plastic material.
This device is still promising even having a lot of cuts out, but expect what you need to expect for the price that you are paying for. This phone is still an entry-level device by the way, so I think those cut out are reasonable. Before moving on to the issues of this device, a sub to this channel will be great. Now, let's talk about the early issues that I encountered in just a few hours of playing with this device. First issue that I noticed is the stuttering issue.
There are noticeable delays while swiping the screen. It might be an UI issue and I hope Poco will be able to fix it soon. Next issue: the camera transitions to different mode is slower than normal. It takes about three to four seconds to load, even switching from front camera to main camera takes time to load too. I've been through a lot of budget phones, and I must say that this transition delay is not normal.
If you use your camera a lot, you have to be extra patience for it before making any inputs. I tried to update the software to the latest version and after updating the unit I tried playing with the UI and the stuttering issue is still there, and also I did the same to the camera and upon checking there are no changes happened. The latency issue doesn't disappear. The last issue that I encountered is the one that I considered as a dealbreaker, so here it is while playing music using the earphone, the sound volume is very low. In case you are wondering I am using the same earphone to all my device.
That's why I can say that there's something wrong with this phone. I tried increasing the volume to the maximum level, but I am not satisfied with the loudness or even with the quality of the sounds. If you own a Poco m3 right now, please comment down below. If you are encountering the same issues. Meanwhile, I will spend a few more days with this device and see if those issues will bother me in a long run.
So I hope I help you decide whether to buy this phone or not. Please like this video.
