Pixel 4a vs Pixel 3 XL vs Pixel 4 XL - Morning Camera Comparison - Flagship Camera In A Budget Phone

Welcome back YouTube: we have Ahmed again from in-depth tech reviews and here's my camera comparison between the pixel 3 XL, the Pixel 4a and the Pixel 4 XL. I know you've been waiting for this camera comparison for a long time. So here you have it. In my opinion, the pixel, 3 and 3 XL are the strongest competitors to the Pixel 4a because they are in the same price range now. This will take us to the next question, which one is the best value for money and, of course the camera is one of the things that can impact your decision. It's also good to know how good is the Pixel 4a camera compared to the pixel, 4 and 4xl.

So let's see how each camera will perform, but before getting started, let's make sure to subscribe and hit the bell icon to get notified every time I post a new video. So let's jump in. Let's start the comparison with the landscape photos and here's the first image. All of them look very similar with some minor differences. The first difference is in the white balance.

The Pixel 4 XL and the 4a have identical white balance, which is leaning towards the warmer tone, while the pixel 3 XL has the coolest white balance and that's why the sky is more blue in the pixel 3 XL images. It depends on your personal preference, which one you like more, but I prefer the sky color in the pixel 3 XL. The exposure in all of them is exactly the same when it comes to color the pixel 4, XL and 4a once more share the same characteristics and the colors they produce are slightly more saturated than the pixel 3 XL, which is hard to notice. When it comes to details, the pixel 3 XL has the sharpest image, which means it has more details, but with more noise, the pixel, 4, XL and 4a again are similar, and they produced softer images with fewer details and less noise, but the differences are very minor. Here's the second image again the same difference in white balance that we saw in the previous image, no difference in color saturation.

This time the exposure is identical as usual, but in this image the pixel 3 XL has the least amount of details, while the pixel, 4a and 4xl produced more details, which is the opposite to the previous image. So from my previous findings, I can say the differences between the three phones in details and the color saturation are very minor, and they shouldn't impact your choice. The only clear difference between them is in how they look the pixel, 4a and pixel 4. XL images. Look exactly the same to me, while the pixel 3xl images have a different look due to the consistently cooler white balance than the other two phones.

So the only thing to rely on to pick your favorite is your personal taste. I will play a quick slideshow for you to make up your mind before jumping to the next category. Now, let's move on to the HDR performance, leaving anything else aside and focusing only on the HDR, I see the same HDR performance in all images. They handled the highlights and shadows exactly the same, so your choice will be only based on the look of the image. Here's another image in a more challenging condition and still they all have the same performance overall.

The HDR performance is equally good across all of them. Let me also play another slideshow before jumping to the next category. Now, let's move on to the portraits in this image. At the first glance, they look very similar, but when you look at the t-shirt color, you will see a very minor difference in the white balance. The Pixel 4a and the 4xl are the warmest while the pixel 3 XL is the coolest.

The second difference is in the blur effect. The Pixel 4a and the 4xl have the highest level of blueness, while the pixel 3xl is the lowest. When it comes to subject isolation, they are very similar in performance. Each phone missed different parts around my ears, and here overall I don't see a winner here. They just look different, and it depends on your personal preference.

Here's another image and the difference in white balance showed up again, but this time it's more obvious. The Pixel 4a consistently has the highest level of blueness. The pixel 3 XL took the second place this time and the Pixel 4 XL has the lowest the subject. Isolation accuracy is very close between the three phones, but the pixel 3 XL was the least accurate this time because it blurred more areas in the subject and the sun shades, which didn't happen with the other two phones. To sum up, based on the previous two images once more, the only major difference between the three phones is in the look and as expected, another slideshow for portraits before jumping to the next category.

Now, let's move on to the zoom, I will start with the 2x zoomed images. The Pixel 4 XL is the only phone that has a 16 megapixel telephoto lens, and I found that all photos taken with the telephoto lens are a lot warmer than expected. They are even warmer than the Pixel 4a photos, which is the case with this image, and this trend will continue through the whole zoom comparison. So take it as a side note, because I will only focus on the level of detail. As expected, the Pixel 4 XL produced the highest level of detail, followed by the Pixel 4a and the pixel 3 XL comes third, and I was sure the Pixel 4a will do better than the 3xl because of the newer sensor.

Now, let's push it even further, and now I will set all phones to 7x zoom, because this is the maximum the Pixel 4a and the 3xl can do without any third-party apps. Here's the 7x zoomed image and before digging deeper, I can clearly see the Pixel 4a and the 4xl images look better. When I zoom in further, you will see the same results again. The Pixel 4 XL images is the most detailed followed by the Pixel 4a and the pixel 3 XL comes third. Now, let's see some more zoom images before jumping to videos.

Now, let's move on to the videos, and I'm taking a 360 round to test the rolling shutter white balance, colors and HDR, the Pixel 4a has the warmest white balance followed by the Pixel 4 XL and the 3xl is the coolest. I didn't notice any rolling shutter in all of them. Now I will play one video at a time and point the camera towards the sun to test the HDR, the Pixel 4a and the Pixel 4 XL. I see the same HDR performance in all of them when it comes to colors. The Pixel 4a and 4xl have more saturated colors than the pixel XL, so the same performance, but with a different look as usual.

Now, let's play another video to test the image stabilization. I was walking really fast and all phones were hand held. I see a small difference between the three phones, but the pixel 3 XL was the worst. The Pixel 4a looks the best to me and the Pixel 4 XL was somewhere in between and finally, let's do a quick test for the mic. Here is one final video to test the mic, so I will keep swapping between the three phones to give you an idea how they sound.

Also, I am adding some background noise by opening the window behind me and playing some music to make it more challenging. So you are the judge which one sounds better sound check. One two three four sound check: one: two, three four sound check, one: two: three: four: now: let's move on to the selfie camera and the first difference between the three phones is in the field of view. The pixel 3 XL has 75 degrees, the Pixel 4a has 84 degrees and the Pixel 4 XL has 90 degrees. The pixel 3 XL is the only one that has ultra-wide angle, selfie with 97 degrees field of view, which is a plus.

Let's compare the wide angle. First, the pixel 4xl has the most saturated colors, followed by the Pixel 4a and the Pixel 3a comes third, the beauty mode is turned off and the skin tone looks good in all photos. When it comes to details. The pixel 3 XL has the most detailed image followed by the Pixel 4 XL, and the Pixel 4a image is the least detailed. When I replace the pixel 3xl image with the ultra-wide version, the color saturation is even less and the image looks washed out, but still preserving the same amount of detail, which is nice.

Overall, I see the pixel 3 XL has the best selfie camera because it produced the most detailed photos plus. The additional ultra-wide angle will give you more flexibility, and if you don't like the low saturated colors, you can easily fix that in post, using google photos, here's one more selfie using the portrait mode and the same findings from the previous image apply here. However, the pixel 3 XL showed a different skin tone. This time that I don't like when it comes to subject isolation, they were very close and each phone missed different areas. So I don't think there is a winner here overall, I like all of them, but if I'm going to pick one, I will go for the Pixel 4 XL, because I, like my skin tone more, so that's pretty much it.

For today. That was my camera comparison between the pixel 3 XL, the 4a and the 4xl, and I have to say that I'm really impressed with the results the Pixel 4a delivered. It was either on the same level or even better in some cases, considering the price tag, plus it's missing the pixel visual core. That's an achievement on its own. Please wait for my next video.

It will be the night camera comparison between the same phones, and I'm sure the Pixel 4a will deliver the same stunning results, but let's wait and see for you to know the download links for the original photos and videos used in this comparison are available in the description below, so you can download them yourself and make up your own mind.
