Welcome to Quick Tech News, where we keep you updated in the world of tech without wasting your time. There’s a new Motorola in town, and value is what makes this new device exciting. For under $500 dollars, you will get a clean flavour of Android 10, 5G, a triple camera array on the back with a depth sensor and on the front an ultra wide selfie camera, a 90hz display, and a massive 5000 mAh battery that they advertise can go for 2 days. Aside from those things the specs are midrange, the interesting thing here though is that Motrola have not yet said now much less than $500 this phone will be. So it could be $499, and I don’t think it would be a bad deal even at that price, but with the Google Pixel 4a coming in at $349, I think Motorola are motivated to be more competitive here. At least on paper they seem to have a good formula but as always we have to wait until it hits the market to figure out how good it really is.
Sonos have just been awarded a new patent in the US for a pair of wireless headphones. According to the patent the headphones would use either Bluetooth or WiFi. Sonos are already in a powerful position in the high end wireless speaker market and it would be a logical step for them to apply their expertise to something more mobile. The headphones also feature a voice assistant activator control and dual drivers on each side. Sonos did not have any specific details to share about their future roadmap so this could be one of those patents they never turn into a product, hopefully they do though.
Our final news today is with Google, who may be preparing to launch a new streaming device. The Chromecast has been extremely popular with customers, but these days many are buying Roku and Amazon streaming devices instead, since they come with a dedicated remote control for the same money. Well, it looks like Google is about to try to put an end to that, 9to5Google were able to discover very briefly as a “Google Sabrina” was listed on their website for $49.99 as well as the item appeared in Home Depot’s internal systems as well. I used to be an regular user of the old chromecast but these days my TV does everything I need it do, so whilst there’s still a chromecast ultra dangling from my tv, it mostly just collects dust. Are you guys using a streaming stick or device? If so, what are you using – let us know down below.
