LG V35 VS LG G8 ThinQ In 2020! (Speed, Cameras & Hardware)

All right guys so as requested, we got the lg g8 versus the v35 uh today, so the v35, you can pick up brand new for around 230 I'll put the links down below the g8. You can pick up renew for around the same price, but if you want this brand new, it's going to cost much more like around to three to four hundred bucks. So do note that uh! So let's go ahead and get started here, uh with the hardware, so two similar designs here now you do have a flat camera design on the g8, which is something that I really like. You have a little of rays on the v35, the same fingerprint scanner layout on the back. This acts as a power button as well. So there's no dedicated power button on the v35 um, which is pretty interesting uh.

You do have a Google Assistant button on the um, a g8 and uh they're, pretty much the same thickness as well. As you can see, the headphone jack is at the bottom as opposed to on the top on the v35 and what else we have both single firing. Speakers down here and that's pretty much it so not a huge difference, as you can see, they both look alike and uh. There is a more you know, wider kind of feel on the v35. It is a wider device which can be a little uncomfortable.

I guess if you have smaller hands, I kind of like two-handed, so I don't have that issue, but usable one hand you will feel kind of a discomfort. If you have bigger hands, it won't be an issue uh. The g8 feels perfectly fine for people with you know smaller hands or whatever, so it doesn't have that kind of like wide feel of the v35. If you have a 6.1 inch display on the g8, and you have a six-inch display on the v35 now you do not have that notch on the um v35, so it really comes down to do you care about it or not, but I don't see it as a huge uh. You know drawback because you can hide the notch in the software uh, so you have a higher PPI of 564 on the g8 as opposed to 538 only b35, but they both have beautiful colors.

They both look really great, as you can see, just have a kind of taller display on the g8, but overall not a huge upgrade. You know in the display department here so, as you can see, colors and everything just looks super vibrant on here and again. The notch is not a huge dealbreaker. I have a lot of people. Ask me all the time about.

Like does a notch annoy you and uh it doesn't. I do prefer like a punch hole over the notch, steel um, but uh. It is what it is. It's not a huge deal now. Both these phones are capable of running the latest operating system.

Uh. You can run android 10 on both of these phones uh, which is really nice. So that is one thing that I really love about. The v35 at this price point to get android 10, uh right out of the box. Lg's skin is really uh.

You know bare minimum: you have your google now page uh on the side here it's pretty much like stock android, which is something that I really like. So they don't do too much to it. You have the toolbar like this little thing right here, where you can have quick access to icons and stuff, like that. I can pull it up yeah, so you can get to like the notepad and a bunch of little quick, toggles and stuff the floating bar. So they don't add a bunch of stuff, but it is very fast UI.

They both have the quad DAC on here uh as well. So if you're into high quality audio files uh, you can do that, and you have all the features that you really want. File sharing, screen recording is on here. Uh screen sharing uh, so you have a lot of features built into the UI on both these phones. Now you have the snapdragon 855 on the g8, with 128 gigs of storage and six gigs of ram.

You have the snapdragon 845, only v35 64, gigs of storage and six gigs of ram. So you get slightly more storage on the base model on the GA here, but as far as speed, these are two very fast phones and very good gaming phones as well. So even the a45 can still play a majority of games on high settings, which is something that's really awesome. If you do like a little quick speed test here, you can see they're pretty much still on par with each other, and the g8 will most likely be. You know slightly faster in most cases than the v35 here.

So as you can see, it's just a hair faster, so it's not a huge upgrade when it comes to speed. So if you're looking for an upgrade and the speed uh coming from the v35 you're not going to find it really here because they're both very fast phones, you got to remember that these this it been a flagship still, even though it's an older phone still very, very now, just to talk about some additional features. Now you do have NFC on both these phones. Both these phones have an IP rating as well, which is really great and the speaker um. The speaker.

You have a little more depth on the uh g8 than on the v35 um. So it's not a huge, huge difference when it comes to the speaker, because they both don't have you know stereo speakers or dual speakers, so audio quality is just slightly a little better on the g8 there's just more depth to the sound, but the speaker on the v35 is really, really great as well here. So two excellent us all right. Let's go ahead and talk about the cameras for a moment uh. So on the g8, you have a dual camera setup: it's a 12 megapixel standard in a 16 megapixel ultra-wide it shoots in 4k, 30 or 60 fps.

You also have the selfie camera that shoots 8 megapixels, and you have 1080p video on that one on the v35. You have a 16 megapixel standard and a 16 megapixel ultra-wide. It also shoots in 4k, and you also have an 8 megapixel selfie that shoots in 1080p uh, so um. I did not use Guam for this one. I just use the stock camera because most people, when they get a phone they're not going to install Guam, but you will get better shots with both of these phones with g cam, but comparing both photos uh the color on the v35 really is the only issue uh when comparing to the g8 that you will notice.

Color accuracy is just not as good. It seems to like kind of over saturate colors a little now the detail and everything is there on the v35. You get some really nice shots, but it's not going to be very realistic to color. It can kind of over saturate things. Sometimes I don't find that on the g8 as much as on the v35 here, but two very excellent phones, dynamic range is perfect.

Again. Detail is good on both phones, so you can't really go wrong, but if you want the better camera is definitely going to be on the gs. So let's go ahead and talk about battery life. So on the v35 you have a 3 300 William battery with 18 watt, fast charging and 10 watt wireless charging on the g8 uh. You have a 3 500 William battery with 21 watt fast charging.

So I really like that the g8 charges faster. I think that's a big deal, at least for me. I love phones that charge really fast, and you also have wireless charging as well uh, so battery life is actually really, really good on both of these phones. If you watch my drain test, the GA can go for around 8 hours and 30 minutes of screen on time, so you can get through a day really easy on both of these phones. So battery life is still excellent.

On my v35 as well, you can easily get through a day with this phone, it's very hard to kill. So all right, so overall, the upgrade I really for me would be just the design of the g8. I just think it looks uh much better, even with the notch. I just think it looks like a more modern looking phone. Also, the cameras are a bit better.

You do get the snapdragon 855, but as far as like the display, you're not going to see a huge upgrade, because the v35 still has an excellent display. So again, if I was thinking about upgrading, I think, if you're not really into cameras, you don't really need the g, so this phone running, android 10, is really able to keep up speed wise with the g8. Like I said, gaming stuff is going to be very similar on both of these phones. So thanks for watching- and I will catch you guys in the next one.
