iPhone XS Max VS iPhone X - The ULTIMATE Camera Comparison! By ZONEofTECH

Welcome to the most detailed camera comparison between the iPhone 10s max or the iPhone 10s they're, both pretty much the same thing in terms of the camera and last year's iPhone 10. Now in my previous ultimate camera comparison I compared the iPhone 10 as Max and the Samsung Galaxy, no 9 video link in the description by the way in case you missed it, but in this video I'll be testing pretty much everything can think of when it comes to the cameras of these two phones, so I'll be doing over 20 individual tests, categories from John photography to smart HDR comparison, macro shots, zoom, shots microphone, tests, front, HDR, a portrait mode, battering comparison, panoramas, slow-motion time-lapse, auto, focusing speed so yeah. This is gonna, be one crazy, video just like last one so get our popcorn ready, because you'll definitely need it. For this one get some drinks ready, sit back, relax and enjoy we're going to start with some HDR shots taken with a back facing camera. Okay. So in this first image we have a bit of everything, and here they both look, really, really good.

The iPhone tennis max is a bit brighter and has done more sharpening in post, which is actually quite visible, especially if you take a look at the bridge if you zoom onto the bridge in the middle, but not a big difference between the two overall next up, we have a proper HDR image here, which is very reflective building. This is a pretty difficult one to get and this one again, both images are very similar in terms of the color. The iPhone tennis max is brighter, but also take a look at how much sharper it is when compared to the iPhone 10. There is also big difference on the top side of the building in the middle or the car is in the reflection on the bottom right-hand side. However, the left-hand side seems to be sharper on the iPhone, 10 and interesting enough, so yeah overall I actually do prefer the iPhones and in this one, I feel like the Eiffel time, as Max is doing a bit too much processing.

Next up, we have the famous gazebo shot, which I featured in all the previous camera comparisons. This one is actually a really difficult HDR shot to get because we have a lot of bright area as a lot of dark here is and then also the bright buildings. In the background- and here they look pretty much identical, but already I thought that as Max shines, it's actually in terms of the exposure. So take a look at a concrete wall. How everything is perfectly exposed on the iPhone 10 s versus the iPhone 10 or the roof, especially that tub ball I'm, not sure how that thing is called, but yeah that one is perfectly exposed on the iPhone 10 s and not so much on the iPhone, 10 and then same applies to the buildings in the background and then the tennis is also sharper than the 10 and put all the areas of the image, especially the brickwork.

And now we have a close-up HDR shot, and this is actually where we can finally see a big difference. So not only is the iPhone 10s sharper and the colors look more vibrant, but take a look at how well the tennis exposes the bottom part of the image, whereas the iPhone 10 has this muddy brown faded. So, let's move on to the macro shots. Ok, so we have this close-up image or the macro shot, which was taken with the regular module, not a zoom lens. That's actually the next test, and here both of them are actually really, really good. Now the iPhone Pennant's does again get the exposure perfect. You can see this if you take a look at the shine on the left of the bolt and a whole bolt is sharper on the 10s, which also has a cooler tint compared to the warmer one.

On the iPhone 10, but overall not a big difference between the two when it comes to the macro test. Moving on to the zoom test. Here we have a yellow boy. Apparently that's how this thing is called and both pretty much nailed the exposure, the iPhone 10 X, was a bit better. If you take a look at the top white light on the boy, it hasn't been blown out on the iPhone 10 and the new tennis also has a cooler Tim compared to the iPhone 10, which is actually warmer, and then we have this building shot, which was also taken with a zoom module, and here is the main thing you've probably noticed is that the iPhone 10 s picture is actually brighter, not by a lot there's a tiny bit and then, if you zoom to the top left-hand side of the image, I Fontana's max is actually noisier and did a lot more sharpening in post than the iPhone tended.

So in this case, I do prefer the iPhone x image once again. Next up we have the video test in 4k 60 frames per second, and here there's actually a very big difference between the two so first off, they both have a nitrate of 103 megabits per second, so there's absolutely no difference there, but a main difference is when you zoom in so take a look at how much sharper the iPhone Menace max is when compared to the iPhone 10 but yeah. Here's the thing: it's not sharper, because you know it has a better lens or sharper lens or anything it's sharper, because it's actually done in post, which is actually the main thing that I hated about Samsung cameras, the fact that they over sharpened everything in post and now apples doing the same with the iPhone 10s okay. So some people like this, some don't I personally, don't if you want to increase the sharpness of a video. Naturally you increase the nitrate or the resolution, but that's not the case here in terms of what Apple has done, but they aren't in that intro to the exposure and the color they're, actually very, very similar.

The iPhone 10 is max does show more reflections in the water and overall, it is a bit brighter, but both were very, very fluid in 4k 60 frames per second, and now, with the iPhone 10s Apple promotes that it can actually capture a higher dynamic range if you should in 30 frames per second. So this is what this test is all about. So here's a 4k 30 frames per second clip between the iPhone Tennis Max and the iPhone 10 and honestly baffle tennis max, is indeed brighter, especially if you look at the brightness of the water versus a background, but yeah other than that and the extra sharpening. Of course that's done on the iPhone 10s there's not that much of a difference between the two. Yes, it is easier to see the greens of the trees in the background on the 10s compared to a 10, but not as big of a difference as I expected to see here.

Moving on to the stabilization test in 4k 60, here, exporter, wise I, do think that the iPhone that actually looks better here, so the ground is sharper, and the entire image has a bit of a warmer tone compared to the cooler one that the iPhone 10 is max has and when I'm walking their both really similar. The iPhone tennis max does have a bit better stabilization, but not a lot, and this is done through warping, so in post. But when I'm running well, the iPhone tennis max has significantly better stabilization and then, if you pause the video take a look at this. Take a look at how much better the iPhone 10 is managed to keep the image in focus. Well, the iPhone tennis wasn't sure what you focus on so yeah.

The video was a lot blurrier on the iPhone 10. If you pause in the end okay. So what about autofocusing Apple say that the iPhone tennis max or in the iPhone 10s, actually focus faster, not just because only improved module, but also thanks to the appellate well Bionic chip- and this is actually the case here. The iPhone 10 takes a bit more than a second to focus, while the iPhone tennis max does that in less than a second I mean yeah they're, both pretty quick and none of them is a GH 5, and this fast focus is pretty useful. When let's say you want to shoot a fast-moving subject, that's running, and you know the subject is getting closer to you, or it's getting further away from you.

So it is release well in that case, but aren't, and that are both really, really good. Now, let's move on to the low-light shots, let's see if Apple has improved the low-light performance on the iPhone 10s at all, or not so in this one, we can finally see a big difference between the two. So take a look at how well the iPhone 10s exposes the lights, nothing is being blown out, whereas they on the iPhone 10. Well, it blew out pretty much every light in the scene and then, if you zoom on to let's say the building in the middle of the river look at how much sharper the iPhone 10s max is and same applies to the water and pretty much every single thing in the scene. But I do feel like there's, actually a bit more noise on the iPhone 10 s, then on the iPhone 10, especially if you look at the bottom left section of the image.

Next up. We have this nuke image. Yes, that's an actual nuke and this one again, it's better on the iPhone 10s max by a lot. So look at how much sharper everything is, but in this case we actually get less noise than in the previous image on the iPhone.10's also taken a look at how the text on the right is almost perfectly visible, whereas on the iPhone 10, it's completely blown out and then, if you zoom on to the tip of the nuke, take a look at how much less noise we have on the iPhone 10 s when compared to the iPhone 10. And then this one is another massive difference between the two look at how much noise the iPhone 10 has more compared to the 10s.

This is a huge difference, so the image is also more in focus and sharper on the 10s. And if you look at the building, you can actually see inside the actual apartments on the iPhone 10 s versus the iPhone 10, which pretty much blew out everything in the shot. Next up, we have the slide post, which is actually pretty difficult one to get because it emits a lot of lights and I wanted to see how well these phones would actually balance that source of light in the entire in the entire dark image, and here we have a more balanced image on the iPhone 10s max. You can even see the light bulb inside and the light that's emitted by the bulb is more evenly spread out when compared to the iPhone Menace image. Okay, so, so far, they were both pretty similar interests of the HDR shots, but the iPhone 10s has a much more heavily processed video alongside better much better low-light shots, so yeah.

So far, the iPhone 10s is quite a bit better, especially in low light than the iPhones end. Well, I tried low light would flash this time so here I want to take a shot of something that had a bit of light in as well, and here we have a very big difference between the two, so the iPhone tennis max has a much more evenly lit image once again, while the iPhone 10 blows up the left-hand side of the image pretty much completely. Also, the tennis max is more in focus and sharper overall than the iPhone 10 is moving on to zoom shots, taking a low light with an obviously so not as big of a difference as I expected. In this case, the noise levels are about the same. The main difference here is the color temperature, which is actually much warmer on the iPhone 10s max, and if you take a look at that patch of light on the plane, this one is a bit more evenly exposed on the 10s versus a bit more blown out on the iPhone 10, but not a huge difference in this case.

Overall. Moving on to video taken with the back facing camera in the light Wow, finally, a massive: this is the biggest difference between a two. So far, look at that amount of noise on the iPhone 10 whoa, you! Never you never know! You never know that the iPhone 10 was actually so bad in low light until we compared it with the iPhone 10s and then also take a look at how well the tennis manages to properly expose those lights in the background, pretty much all the lights in the scene which again were blown out on the iPhone 10, so yeah much better low-light performance, thanks to the larger sensor on the iPhone 10 s and also better processing in both the lights, and they light thanks to the up little Bionic ship, okay. So what about a front-facing cameras? Well, the first thing you've probably noticed is that the iPhone tennis has a slightly wider angle, not a huge difference, but both images actually look pretty much identical other than that. The iPhone tennis max is a sharper.

If you look at my hair, but again the Sun impost, so both really well lit both really well exposed, not too much to say about this, but what about an HDR shots taken with the front-facing camera? Well interesting enough. In this case, they both look almost, almost identical. The biggest difference here is how well the iPhone 10s manages to keep more of the sky in the image instead of blowing it out, like iPhone, tended, especially on the right-hand side of the image. Also take a look at my skin tone. My skin is smoother and more processed on the iPhone tennis max and also has a bit more of a warmer tone than the iPhone 10 has okay.

So this is a front-facing camera they's between the icon, tennis max and the iPhone Sam. Now, probably, the first thing that you'll notice is how much zoom than I am on the iPhone thinness max, which is quite interesting and then also the iPhone thinness max can L do 1080p 60 frames per second with the front-facing camera, listen to the audio by the way, so this is the audio coming from the iPhone thinness max. Now this is the audio coming from the iPhone 10, which one do you think sounds better. Let me know in the comments and also take a look at the HDR processing in the background, which one do you think looks better and again, which one anything sounds better and Wow take a look at these guys. This is front-facing in low-light, and this is horrible on both the iPhone 10 actually has a bit more color in it, and it's also it's also brighter.

Overall, the autumn noise is higher on the iPhone 10 compared to the 10s, and 10s is also a bit more in focus, I mean they're, both awful, but Tillman in the comments which one would you guys pick and now a front-facing camera in low-light with a flash. So in this case the iPhone tennis max is indeed better. It not only got my hair and a good position, but my face is in focus as well. A phone 10 is warmer, but yeah there's another 9 that the iPhone 10 is max is the clear winner here: okay, so this is a front-facing camera comparison and low-light video. Obviously, between the iPhone, 10s, Macs and iPhones, and now a phone tennis max can actually do I mean automatically does 30 P 60 on the front-facing camera, so the tennis max should be worse in the light than the 10.

Also look have a look at the viewing angle and watch Mary, iPhone 10 interesting enough. Can capture and the image in the video. Let me know in the comments which one you think looks so: what about the portrait mode on the front-facing and back facing camera? Well, something new on the 10s is that it can actually adjust the blur or the bouquet. After you've taken the shots, you can actually select the f-stop, and you can, you know, adjust the blur. Based on that.

You know taking a look at the actual image focus on the death map, guys don't focus on the exposure or the actual photo, and here the iPhone tennis max did a better job and not just my hair, but also, if you take a look at my right hands, the iPhone 10s messed up a lot on that. One and same applies to my glasses and the overall contour of my face. You know the same thing, but with a back facing camera portion mode on the back so again take a look at a death map, not the actual image, and this one is actually better on the iPhone 10. So the 10s messed up on about a left of the image on my hands and also on my left, shoulder as well. The iPhone 10 did get that part of the building out of focus or actually in focus which the iPhone 10 is max correctly, and I do like the iPhone 10 more than the 10s in this case, but a highlights orbit off on the iPhone 10.

My skin is too bright, and my hair looks a bit too blue on the iPhone 10, so yeah, better, a death mapping on the iPhone 10, but better color and exposure on the 10s. So now what about some panoramas, which one has a better panorama well, which is OD actual size, is a Fontana's max. Take a 15 point: 6 megabytes image, which is huge and 61 megapixels in size, whoa and then the iPhone 10 took fifteen point, eight, which was actually 63.4 megapixels in size. Now I did capture more on the 10s interesting enough, but the iPhone tens panorama was a bit larger. That's strange, I know now in terms of the actual color, the iPhone 10 is actually more vibrant than in 10s, but the 10s is very, very, very sharp I.

Personally, don't like this. So if you zoom in a lot, you can see how much sharpening is done imposed on the 10s compared to the iPhone 10. So yea, the 10s literally looks like a Samsung phone like the no 9, or you know the note, 8 or s8 from last year's. The iPhone 10 is warmer. It has a warmer tint, while the iPhone 10 s has a cool urgent.

Now the 10s did have a better exposure overall. So if you take a look at the that 11th building, it's overexposed on the iPhone 10, but again the iPhone Telus nails, the exposure. And finally, when it comes to the stitching, both are pretty good. The iPhone 10 messed up on the fence, a lot like awful, but then the iPhone 10s messed up on the yellow lines in the parking spot and the iPhone that actually got those correctly. Next up, we have slow-motion, so this one was actually a really fun one to record.

It involves a lot of balloons, water- and this was a really fun one to record, but yeah. Both phones actually take 1080p slow-motion shots and 240 frames per second, but this one looks like 720p is. If I'm generous I can say it's 720p, but it's its actually worse than that. Now the actual slow motion looks way more sharp on the iPhones, and it's max again because of that post-processing. It does look better.

In this case, it does look better just because of how low res the image actually was just a bit rate by the way it's 19 megabits per second on both. So there's absolutely no differences here. So in this case, I do prefer. The iPhone tennis max is sharper and post processed image, and then we have the time-lapse recording okay, Apple, please Google, please and Samsung. Also, please, let us record in 4k.

Let us do 4k time-lapse is because processing wise doing a time-lapse fun fact is easier on the processor than even doing a 4k 60 video and both of these phones record at 1080p 30 frames per second. So no improvements on the iPhone 10 is max. The 10s max looks way way over leash or prints. Oh I, don't know again. The tennis max looks like a Samsung and the iPhone 10.

It looks like an iPhone. Now, if you use a third-party app, you can actually record 4k panoramas at 60 frames per second and even higher fun fact, but you cannot do it in the native camera. App same applies to Samsung phones, Google doesn't even give you a time-lapse mode, so I, don't know why. No one is really focusing on time-lapse. Is it because those things are amazing to have in any device not just a phone organ that the colors do? Look more vibrant on the iPhone 10, and we also have a warmer tone on the iPhone 10 versus the 10s, which is a bit cooler, okay.

So, in the end, as a conclusion to the ultimate cinema comparison, which phone has a better camera overall iPhone 10s or the iPhone 10 again I took all the shots with my tennis max, but a-10s and the tonight's max have exactly the same camera. So honestly, I was expecting to see way more differences between the two. So when it comes to general photography, they were both very similar. In fact, in most cases that could barely even tell the difference between the two I mean the main improvements of the iPhone tanks's camera over the iPhone 10 are in terms of low-light, so in pretty much every shot. The iPhone 10s won by a significant lead, especially when it comes to video in low life.

The iPhone 10 showed significantly more noise than the iPhone two nested, and then the 10s also does stereo video recording and, by the way so yeah I can do stereo audio recording now. So there's also that and then the second area or the third area in which the iPhone 10s was noticeably better than the 10 was in terms of the exposure. The iPhone 10 has managed to keep everything evenly exposed throughout the entire scene, thanks to the Apple ID 12 chip, which can now do over a trillion calculations for every single photo, kiddie, iPhone tennis takes, which is really, really impressive, but yeah. Let me know the comments which camera did you guys prefer?
