iPhone XS Max Review - The Truth

Hi everyone, my name, is Isaac, and you've heard. Basically every tech reviewer say it. If you have an iPhone 10, you shouldn't buy the 10s or 10s max and I pretty much agree as well. They're, incredibly summer devices not really warranting a full upgrade after just a year of owning the iPhone 10. But here's the thing: not every single person who wants to buy a new phone actually owns an iPhone 10. There's plain people with older iPhones, older Android devices.

Looking for a brand-new iPhone upgrade and saying the iPhone 10s and 10s Mac's aren't a big deal, isn't really too fair. There's still a lot to talk about here now, right off the bat. Of course, the iPhone 10s max looks like a bigger iPhone 10. It's just what happens to the S models we all know about it by now, but there are a few subtle design changes here as well. The differentiator from the previous iPhone model, one of the weirder visual changes here is the asymmetrical speaker.

Grille at the bottom doesn't really hurt anyone, but it's not symmetrical anymore, and it is kind of strange there's, also stronger glass in the front and back proven many drop test videos of this phone, as well as a gripper, stainless steel frame and ip68 water resistance. So, despite the iPhone 10s max being a lot more drippy and durable compared to previous iPhones, I still use the case, and in this case it is the Apple silicone case in product red. It is definitely more drippy compared to the stainless steel frame and also just looks awesome in this super vibrant red color. But the big deal here with the iPhone 10s Macs in specific, is of course, the size of this phone. It is a massive overall device with a huge display but actually really enjoy the size of this device, and I've got used to it very quickly.

Surprisingly enough, though, it's actually smaller than the note 9 pixel 2 XL and iPhone A+, but it's actually all displayed here too, with a very minimal bezel and because the phone has a bigger display compared to the standard iPhone 10 and 10 s, the notch. Actually looks smaller on this display, but, of course is the same size as it was previously and, of course, the notch house is all the important stuff for face ID and face ID here feels very fast, very reliable but I drastic speed, difference or reliability difference compared to the previous iPhone 10. It still kind of has all those same problems like it doesn't really work at certain angles like if you have a hat on or something or some glasses. It's not gonna, always work and, of course it does take a swipe to unlock, but I have to admit, having use face, ID for almost a full year now, I almost actually prefer it to touch ID and fingerprints unlock for unlocking my phone and for using Apple Pay as well. Furthermore, it's just surprisingly well done and well executed and right below the notch.

The 6.5 inch OLED display looks beautiful. The vibrancy sharpness, brightness and contrast are all on point with those deep inky blacks due to the OLED display. The display does support HDR, but most apps, including YouTube, need an update to actually fully support HDR on this device. But regardless, though, you're gonna love, this display with all videos, pictures games and apps looking their absolute best, and it's a really beautiful panel. So the display is huge on this phone.

Of course, it's stunning. But if you have small hands, it's not gonna, be the absolute best match for you, though, the phone is almost iPad Mini size and all reach ability is good for accessibility. It still is tough to use such a big phone and I thought. This would be the year for soft optimizations for large screen iPhones, but not this year either. The screen size is not really used to effectively on this phone.

There's, no floating videos, no split screen, multitasking, no floating apps or anything. It just feels underutilized. Everything is just a bit bigger on this phone in terms of software and while some apps are dual pane, it just brings iPhone 8 plus functionality to this phone, which isn't really that big of a software feature and doesn't actually utilize such a large screen. Now, speaking of software, Iowa's 12 isn't the biggest most drastic update for iOS ever but actually features a bunch of great updates and changes. And here are four of my personal favorites.

The first and most important and notable for me are the speed improvements on really any iPhone device. Opening apps multitasking. Its instant feels like butter with faster animations' series, shortcuts already have so much potential already and as more app developers bring series shortcuts support to their applications its own, leading it better and more advanced I hate to admit it. But screen time has actually really helped. Me use my device in a much more effective way and in a healthier way, it's great to see brands, Apple and Google, embracing the idea of digital well-being and not always just being on your phone there's, also a bunch of general and random refinement applications and the UI to make it even better and even more advanced in some cases.

So while I do like iOS 12 for sure I still, we should have some different UI and layout tweaks to make it a bit more different compared to previous versions of iOS, because you have to admit the springboard at this point it needs a refresh. It needs an overhaul, especially with all those very sleek, very futuristic gestures. Io's could use a completely new coat of paint. Apple didn't really tout too much of a massive speed boost mentioned for the new iPhone compared to the iPhone 10, but it just feels so fast. There's no wait time for anything.

Opening, apps, multitasking gaming. There are no problems here at all for performance whatsoever. This iPhones going to be a hundred percent fast for many years, with the a12 ionic and now four gigabytes of RAM up from three gigabytes of RAM. We're kind of at a point now, where basically any new iPhone you buy, is just stupid fast in terms of the gestures, the faster animations. The hardware inside these phones are kind of the kings of speed for day-to-day usage.

Now, every single year testing out a brand-new iPhone. The thing I look forward to testing out most has to be the camera experience. So let's go so. The iPhone 10s max has three different cameras. The first camera is a seven megapixel selfie camera.

The recording this on right now, as well as dual 12 megapixel rear cameras, one standard and one telephoto, nothing too different, but the picture results are actually quite different on this phone than they are for past iPhone models. So, first and foremost, colors are very, very vibrant. This year, in some cases, not totally accurate, there's also still the standard warm tone for iPhone pictures and videos. There's also a lot more added sharpness this year kind of like what they have on Samsung phones for video and pictures. That's not really a bad thing, but you are go notice.

The extra sharpness in your shots, one of the biggest deals for pictures this year is the new smart, HDR mode. Basically, just like the pixel two into Excel, it combines all the different shots. It takes a bunch at once and combines them all for the absolute best, perfect result and I have to, say. Dynamic range is incredibly good. On the iPhone, 10s and 10s max pictures in low-light also turn out quite nice.

In my opinion, there's still a little of noise or not really as bright as you get on the Huawei p20 Pro or Galaxy Note, 9 or Xperia x. Meets you premium with dedicated low-light hardware, but I have to, say low-light pictures are still pretty good. Once again, there is portrait mode on this phone and results are perfect this year, but with the addition of also being able to adjust the aperture and blur mode after the fact, 4k video turns out fantastic on the iPhone, 10s and 10s max you get that great HDR, so there's great dynamic range in videos, as well as the fact that that sharpness carries over from picture mode to get much sharper crisper looking videos. So the camera feels like quite a big upgrade this year in terms of pictures and videos with a whole new look: smart HDR, port, remote upgrades, the cam experience is pretty great and of course, keeping me powered is a xxx 174 William hour battery inside and from my usage. It's definitely a full guaranteed day of battery life.

It's like of anything crazy like a day and a half or two days or anything but a solid guaranteed day. Furthermore, it takes me from about 5:30 a. m. so at eleven o'clock at night, consistently every single day, and I'm. Fine with that, but of course Apple B Apple you get that standard.

Five watt adapter in the box doesn't actually support fast charging, so the phone takes forever to charge. Thankfully, wireless charging is faster on this phone compared to the iPhone 10, but I still wish Apple included some form of fast charger in the box, iPhone fan or iPhone hater. You have to admit, there's still a lot to like about to the iPhone 10s and 10s Macs. In my case more so, the 10s max the phone has a great well-built in solid design, beautiful display, fast and buttery, smooth performance, incredible gestures, as well as an excellent, solid camera experience. Io's could definitely use a fresh coat of paint to take advantage of the full massive displays on these phones and make the UI much more futuristic just a little different, because the current iOS springboard is getting a tiny bit stale there's also no headphone adapter in the box whatsoever.

For some strange reason you have to pay $10 for that, and there's also no fast charge in the box either, which and 2018 is kind of a mandatory thing for smartphones. But you also have to admit this thing is crazy, expensive, there's, no debate, it's $1,100 u. s. to start for 64 gigabytes, which is $1500 Canadian and for 512 gigabytes of storage. The phone is $140050.00 us, which is $2,000 Canadian plus tax. That is a crazy price for a phone.

Although we kind of know that very few people are going to buy a phone with that much storage. To start with, you can, of course, use upgrade programs and monthly payment programs to help offset that cost, and it's not gonna, be just a one-time purchase and that's it, and you lose the phone. It's going to be fast for many years. It's going to be a great overall device. You can also sell your current phone and upgrade to this and even actually sell this phone after a buddy here for around 80% of the original cost, as iPhones retain a bunch of value in the resale markets, but still it can be very to justify the expensive prices of these phones, especially in a world with the iPhone 10, are coming out very soon, offering almost everything these iPhones do and a more affordable and more reasonable price.

But why do you your thoughts and build these iPhones in the comments down below, given the various price points for each, which makes the absolute most sense to you, Flux you get out of the phone. Let me know and thank you for watching you.
