What's going on guys in this video I'm going to be discussing the differences between the Apple iPhone x and the iPhone XS max and explain which one you should buy in 2021. So if you currently have an older, iPhone and you're looking to upgrade to a used model in 2021, this video is going to be great for you, you've likely come across both of these devices in your search. I will post Amazon links in the description below, so you can see the latest cheapest price to buy these phones. So I'm going to be going through a quick run through of the spec differences between these two devices open up a couple apps see which apps load faster, safari web pages, see which loads faster and at the end of the video, I will tell you my personal opinion between these two devices and who should buy, which device or which one you should get over the other one. So the iPhone x came out in 2017 and the iPhone XS max came out in 2018. So if you're watching this in 2021, these phones are going to be four and three years old respectively.
So, as far as physical features between the two devices, these phones look very, very similar on the outside physical aspects of them. So I'm going to be going more into the details of the specs of the inside of these phones. So obviously the biggest difference between these two devices is the XS max has a much bigger screen. The XS max has a 6.5-inch OLED screen and the iPhone x has a 5.8-inch OLED screen if you've also been looking at the iPhone XR. The iPhone XR has a LED screen versus the OLED screen that these have um, so the iPhone XR is going to be a much worse looking phone as far as the display goes, and for that reason I would recommend both of these devices over the iPhone XR.
So, despite the XS max having a much bigger display, they both have the same pixel resolution. So in terms of pixel quality, you will not notice a difference. They both have 458 pixels per inch or PPI. So both of these displays are both very, very clear and crisp and very similar caliber. The XS max just has the larger display.
So if you're used to a smaller phone- and you don't like having a bulky phone in the pocket, obviously the iPhone x is going to be better for you, it's much smaller. If I line up the bottoms here, you can see that the iPhone XS max is quite a bit taller. It's also quite a bit wider, and so, if you're carrying these around in your pockets, the iPhone XS max is going to be much bulkier and much more annoying. If you are worried about that sort of thing. So if you use your phone to watch a lot of videos or play games or do a lot of web surfing, and you would utilize the bigger area of a bigger screen, I would go with the XS max if you would prefer a more compact phone just carrying around more portable in your pocket.
And you don't really do things like watch too many videos or play too many games. The iPhone x is going to be better for you just because it is more convenient but, like I said, if you are going to be using your phone to the fullest watching a lot of videos, you're going to have a better experience with a better bigger screen. As long as you're able to make that sacrifice of less portability and having a larger phone in your pocket or in your bag or, however, you carry it so other than the screen. What else is difference between these two phones? So the iPhone XS max has ip68 water resistance. The iPhone x has ip67 water resistance and that basically just means that the older phone can go in one meter of water for 30 minutes.
The XS max can go into two meters of water for 30 minutes. So that is a small point. To take note of the iPhone XS max is obviously a lot heavier as well as the iPhone x. The iPhone x feels a lot nicer in the hand compared to the XS. Just has a little more bulk and weight to it.
So, in terms of processors, the iPhone x has an Apple A11 processor, which is obviously one year older than the XS max's a12 processor, we'll get into some speed tests later in this video of opening different apps and seeing which one feels faster in day-to-day life. But what I can tell you is you likely will not notice a difference in speed between these two phones. If you do a lot of gaming, the iPhone x has a 3 core graphics, apple GPU. The XS max has a 4 core graphics GPU, so this phone is going to handle games better but, like I said, probably not going to be noticeable in 2021. Both of these phones are very, very fast, but maybe this phone is a bit more future-proof for those high-end games.
If that's what you like to do with your phone, another difference is the iPhone x has three gigabytes of ram. The XS max has four gigabytes of ram, so what that means is, if you do a lot of multitasking on your phone, the iPhone XS max is going to be able to hold more apps open without having to close them down due to running out of memory. So this phone is going to be better for multitasking. Another slight difference between these two: they both do have the same 12 megapixel camera on the rear, but the iPhone XS max does have a little better picture quality. It's just better in low light conditions, it can really brighten up the black areas without making the pictures look too pixelated.
The iPhone x is going to look a little worse in the low light conditions, so the iPhone XS max does have a bit better camera. Just in terms of the software backing it up. Another little difference is the iPhone XS max. Can blur the background of your photos where, in the iPhone x, you have to get a third-party app to do this. The iPhone XS max has this built-in.
So if you use that feature, the XS max is going to be a little better for the camera. Another major difference between these two is the iPhone XS max has a much bigger battery than the iPhone x. You may be thinking well, it has a bigger battery, but a bigger screen, so those probably cancel out, but the iPhone x s max actually lasts a lot longer than the iPhone x. I think it's around one hour per day that this phone will last in terms of screen time compared to the iPhone x, so the XS max is going to hold a charge for longer than your iPhone x. The last small difference that I'll mention the iPhone XS max has much louder.
Speakers um, so I think apple has claimed 25 louder speakers on the XS max than the iPhone x. If you're listening to music or watching videos or movies um with the actual speakers built into your phone, this is going to be important for you. The XS max is going to do a better job. At that. Personally, I use Bluetooth speakers.
I don't usually use the speakers on the actual phone as much, but it is nice to have when you do use it to have that louder, clearer, sound at higher volumes. Okay! So now, let's open up a couple of apps and see which phone feels faster, let's see if the iPhone XS max does perform faster than the iPhone x because of its newer, faster CPU. So, let's start with opening up the app store, I'm going to try to open them up at the exact same time, one two three and, as you saw the XS max just split second faster, I would say next we're going to open up a game. Let's open up rush here, one two: three, so the XS max opened the app a little faster. Next, let's open up Satan one two three! So you can see the sun on the iPhone x is starting before the sun on the XS max.
So the iPhone x is actually ahead. Fair amount right here see if I can tap the screen and skip this yeah. Okay, so I think the iPhone x, because of that sun starting up earlier, had the app opened faster, so not a big difference in terms of app opening speed. So far, let's open up among us one two three looks pretty similar to me: oh and the iPhone XS max opened among us quite a bit faster than the iPhone x and, last but not least, let's open up YouTube one. Two three and the x actually opened up a little faster than the XS max.
So in terms of app opening speed and day to day use, I would say: there's no difference in speed between these two. You saw that the x opens some ups faster, the XS max open other apps faster, but I think overall they're both the same. So I would not select either of these devices based on speed. So now, let's see which of these phones loads up web pages and safari faster. So I'm going to open up safari I've typed in apple.
com on both of these devices, and I'm going to hit go to see which one loads the Apple website faster. So one two three so just a split second ahead was the Apple iPhone XS max now I've typed in my channel on YouTube and see which one loads that faster one two three and again split. Second ahead was the XS max not noticeable day to day, but here's a small difference. You can see the screen being larger on the XS max. You can see more real estate on a web page.
Furthermore, you can see almost this whole video in my uploads here, where it's mostly cut off with the iPhone x. So if your web browsing a lot, I would say the XS max is going to be better for you just because you can see more on the screen at the end of the day. What are my personal opinion between these two phones? So I've used the iPhone x for about two years and I absolutely loved it. It is a great phone. I think it is still relevant still fast, still worth it in 2021, similar to the iPhone XS max, still perfect phone in 2021.
You will not notice either of these phones being slow in 2021. You won't notice one. Oh, performing the other one, the camera differences aren't going to be huge, really. The only thing that I would say between these phones that you should consider is what size screen. Do you want if you like, a smaller, more compact screen and phone get the iPhone x? If you like, a bigger phone for watching movies for gaming for surfing the web, for anything that you do get the iPhone XS max, they are both great phones, they're, both relevant in 2021.
You should get either of these phones just based on the screen size that you prefer. If you like this video, please hit the like button below, and click subscribe and turn on the notification bell. Peace.
