Can, the Samsung Galaxy s7 plus finally dethrone the almighty iPad Pro well we're going to find out what's going on guys, Gabe with review dork, and today we are putting the Samsung Galaxy s7, plus that's ahead with the 2020 iPad Pro first time visiting this channel make sure you hit the like button subscribe and turn on notifications because uh by doing so, you support this channel and allow me to keep my elite status at best. Buy. We don't get free review copies here, so it's my own money, my own unbiased opinion and your hard-earned cash point it in the right direction. Now before we continue, I need android and apple fans to play nice in the comments section. I know we all have our own allegiances, but I don't want the comment section. Turning into a remake of the west side story, lord, I just showed my age, but that musical is a classic dammit.
If there is anyone who can go head ahead with apple, it would be Samsung each company having their own ethos and vision for the future of tech, but no one has invested as heavily in the tablet market. As much as apple leaving the likes of Samsung to play catch-up for over the past decade, so let's start with the obvious apple's tablet line starts at 7.99 with the 12.9 inch variant smashing through the 1k mark, and this is what we have here in the studio starting at 999, the Samsung Galaxy tab, s7 plus, I have to make sure I put plus there starts at eight hundred and forty-nine dollars, both devices equipped with 128 gigs of storage and six gigs of ram the iPad Pro equipped with apple's in-house a12z bionic CPU and the Samsung tab.7S plus, is home to the snapdragon 865 plus. Both are incredible. CPUs the Galaxy Tab, s7 plus got a 2 910 score on the geek bench 5 overall performance test and the iPad Pro scored, 4, 720 and okay. That's the end of the video.
I did my job apple jacks. We need to include that that that infomercial guy, I wait, there's more the tab. Seven plus weighs in at 1.3 pounds the iPad Pro 1.4 pounds, and this is really just a meaningless, comparable spec, because if you could feel the difference in a point ounce I mean like wow. You must be like one of those uh barometers that that that, like tallies, the gravitational force of I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, but anyways as for design, these beauties, both machined of aluminum, feels solid feels premium. It makes me feel good about the purchase, but they look so similar.
I mean they look really, really similar. I could see Galaxy Tab owners feeling insulted when casually asked. Hey bro. Is that the new iPad? Let's be honest here, there are large aluminum rectangles with a slab of glass up top with rounded corners and an USB-C port. On the bottom I mean how much more can you innovate a form factor, so I'm going to have to give Samsung a pass on design, and I'm going to have to load apple for the design, because in fact they are the innovators of the tablet, but I honestly feel, like we literally hit peak tablet design.
Now you get four speakers on the corner and with the apple grilles, it's far more apparent than almost obnoxious. How big that speaker, grill there is, but sound and loudness are pretty damn close with both devices peaking at 82 dbs at max volume and that's pretty loud, that's loud as some top laptops out on the market. Now the iPad Pro has a rounded square: camera module, housing, dual cameras, whereas the Galaxy Tab, s7 plus module, has an elongated oval shaped under where the black magic pen holder strip extends. So you guys can see that there cameras on tablets are just damn near useless. Speaking of that, you guys just saw that the Samsung does include a pen and that's for the win, whereas apple charges, you 129 dollars for a second generation, Apple Pencil, more apple, more money, no problems, shopping, apples like going to the casino with your best friend you just lost a thousand dollars and your bestie is like come on.
What's a few hundred more and you guys know that feeling you go to the Apple Store, and it's just like a little kid in the Willy Wonka chocolate factory right here. It's just like I want it all. Then you turn into a fat ass, blueberry. An interesting difference exists in the implementation of the front-facing camera. Now Samsung includes the camera on the longer bezel, whereas the iPad Pro includes the camera on the narrower edge.
Both tablets support biometric login. However, the iPad is limited to face ID and, if you're wearing a mask you're screwed, whereas the tab includes facial recognition and an in-display fingerprint sensor, so the thin strips around the display are just enough where your grip doesn't get in a way with what you're, watching or playing, and the Galaxy Tab makes for an interesting mobile platform, especially for Xbox gamers, since you can use Xbox game pass on your android device now the footprint- and I want to show you guys this we're gonna, take this off here. We're going to get the iPad off, but let's look at the footprint, because this may or may not be a deal. Breaker for some of you, but when we rest the Galaxy Tab, s7 plus over the iPad, we could see the difference between 12.9 inches and 12.4 inches, so the display. Okay, look I'd, love to invite you all over for coffee to survey these displays, because the camera just doesn't tell the story head on over to best, buy and see for yourself, but I would have to admit that the Galaxy Tab s7 has a better display.
When I say better, it's not just a matter of preference or subjective, I mean, with the Galaxy Tab, s7 you're, getting better blacks, better colors with 210 percent RGB coverage versus the iPads 123 now RGB. This is a major, a major selling point for those photographers who are color grading on the go now apple jacks is a photographer, and he needs as much color accuracy as possible. So 210 on the RGB color game. It is um yeah! You couldn't ask for more. It's its just a beautiful display.
The colors are just insane again head on over to Best Buy see for yourself. As for resolution, the iPad has a pretty dense PPI, with 2732 by 2048 pixel resolution for the galaxy we have 2800 by 1752 resolution, so apple wins slightly in the resolution department. Also, the iPad does get brighter at 559 nits versus the 430 nits on the s7 plus. Now this means you could pretty much use both of these devices everywhere. That is a very, very bright display.
Now fun fact, a knit is another way to describe a brightness of one candela per square meter or, to put it in another way, imagine a box 16 inches by 16 inches with a candle in the middle and the total amount of light hitting the interior surface of that box is one knit, and I would really like to know who came up with that stuff applejack's. Just like we're going to take one candle, we're going to put it here, and it has to be specifically 16 inches, so we're going to call it a net okay. So I wanted this to be purely a comparison of devices, but we can't ignore the keyboards and for the price we are spending on these devices. You better be using these for more than just Netflix and Amazon Prime magic keyboard is going to set you back 349 for the larger iPad and honestly, it is pretty darn cool. The way it seamlessly connects with the iPad, like that's cool, that's magic, but the Samsung book cover keyboard is just 229, and I believe that there's a cell for 50 off, if you buy directly from Samsung now Samsung's design, is a traditional book cover design with a stand on the back and magnetic connectors at the base, I'm not going to include a review of the pen, because I can not that apple's pencil isn't awesome, but in all fairness, the tab comes with one included, and it is absolutely superb, with nine milliseconds latency that that's awesome now, building out the iPad with the magic keyboard and Apple Pencil is going to set you back.1400 bucks building out the tab. S7 with the included s pen and keyboard at 50 off will set you back.965 is the iPad worth the premium based on price alone? Let me know in the comment section below: okay, so battery life. I got about eight hours of life on the Samsung in about 10 hours with the iPad, and again this will vary based on your usage.
How bright your displays are? What you're watching HDR standard content YouTube? You guys get the gist of it. These devices are both pretty damn amazing, and here we are now where the differences only truly lie in preference and price. Yes, the iPad is amazingly powerful and robust, but does the average user need to summon that power like he-man and the power of grace gold Samsung's desktop interfaces also worth mentioning living alongside android 10 DEX Luzon feels similar to windows or chrome OS and was designed for productivity, giving you the ability to run multiple apps and separate windows, and I have to admit it's still a work in progress, but it is useful at times, especially with the book cover keyboard connected, like you got to have the book cover keyboard connected Samsung why'd, you call it. The book cover keyboard yeah, we have to, we have to, create an acronym for that applejack, but chances are, if you already have a Chromebook. Maybe a tap seven doesn't make much sense and, just being absolutely honest, the tablet is for people who do not have that extension device from their laptop, or maybe someone like applejack's, who just doesn't have an android device at all, because he's team apple, the iPad Pro includes something pretty cool: a LIDAR sensor that can detect the distance between objects to improve AR applications and then there's iPadOS, which has several advantages over android decks, including a wider range of apps that scale better on tablets- and this seems to be one of the main sticklers for android fans- is how android applications do not scale well on tablets, but the tapas 7 plus fights back thanks to androids unrestricted app ecosystem.
You guys know where you can find those apps third-party app stores. You know, and I mean I have to say you know PPP ability for android to branch out of its ecosystem, sure you can jailbreak an iPad. I know we're going to have the apple fanboys here, but you can jailbreak if it's like yeah cool. You can add other app stores, et cetera, but the android. I feel like it's easier to do, and then it's just too darn close, but I'd love to know what you guys think down in the comments below this is Gabe with review dork, I am signing out peace.
