Welcome back everyone, let's go ahead and take a look at the Google Pixel 4 and see how this phone holds up in the middle of 2021. Now this phone came out not a super long time ago, but it's been almost two years. You know this thing came out in 2019 and overall, what I can tell you are that this phone is still pretty much worth it in so many ways, but it isn't necessarily a better phone than even like the Pixel 4a that just came out. So if you want, I mean I would probably recommend picking up the 4a more than the 4. In my opinion, I'll leave both these linked down below you can get them from there and help support the channel at the same time, and I've already done a full comparison of full review of this phone already. So you can watch that earlier on this year now the panel is still great 5.7 inch, pole, display, 1080p and definitely one of the better aspects of this specific phone. There's no notch, but it does have that top bezel with that front camera USB c on the bottom and on the back, this matte texture, finish, which I actually did like.
This is one of those things that, like it kind of threw me off in the beginning with, but I actually did come to like it. It was a little different from my standard glass backs that I was kind of seeing on a lot of other devices. I don't know if it's like frosted, but it did have this like texture to it, which felt really, really nice, and I really do like that. You have IP certification on this phone as well, and that really covers it up on the outside. There's really not a lot else going on with the specific phone.
Now you do have that dual camera setup on the back, which we'll go ahead and right now, 12.2 megapixel, wide angle lens, then a 16, megapixel, telephoto lens, and really this was the biggest downside I think, of the pixel 4. Realistically, the pixel devices, one of the biggest you know assets for it was actually the camera. You know having that perfect camera on this phone was one of the biggest things going for it. Unfortunately, with this specific phone, it just kind of seemed like they kind of, took a step back, and they didn't increase it or improve it that much from the predecessor they put a telephoto lens in here when they should have put all tried sensor and there was no 4k 60 either, which really wasn't something it really. You know kind of made me upset, but that front camera 8 megapixel sensor and only 1080p at 30 on that front camera as well.
This one came out in 2019 the same time as the iPhone 11 and 11 pro, and those phones had 4k 60 on the back and 4k 60 on the front. So I never really forgave out. You know google for doing this. You know I think since then they have learned, but I feel like had they just you know improved that a little they could have probably had a hit on their hands for sure, and this was a pretty expensive phone at the time as well. So in terms of that that covers it up in a camera standpoint now the software standpoint is the best asset for this specific phone and really the main reason why I would recommend anyone buying a pixel phone.
Is the stock android software now, luckily, for us, this phone has increased in longevity, so you can go ahead, and you know custom ROM. This thing, if you want to you, can download android 12 on it too, in a beta form, which is really awesome and there's a lot of capability for it. You know, I think this is one of those phones, after one plus after they just changed up their whole entire software lifecycle and everything. This is the phone that you know it pretty much came back to being the number one it kind of slipped away a little, but now I would say it is the number one version of software right now for android, and I think that is another, pretty big asset for the specific phone. So I think in terms of a software standpoint that covers it up there.
The battery life is also one of those things. I'm not really a huge fan of you know only a 2800 millibar battery, and that is a pretty small battery to have on this type of device. You don't want to pick up a phone and already have it. You know having like a small battery like that, and this phone definitely is one of those devices. So in terms of that that covers it up in a battery standpoint, now ending it off with the performance.
This device does have that Qualcomm snapdragon 855 chipsets with six gigs of ram- and you know like I mentioned before. This is one of those phones that had a ton. It had a good amount of performance and a good amount of ram when it came on in 2019. Obviously, in this day and age, we're starting to your know get to the point where eight gigs of ram is that based here, like the eight gigs, is what you need, but I think this is still a very good amount of you know performance to have on this type of phone. Now, realistically anything I've ever done with this phone.
It's been perfectly fine, and I know I have no complaints about it, so I think that's completely good. In my opinion, I will tell you, though I will,, you know with the Pixel 4a in the pixel 5. I do think those phones are better performing than this specific phone, which is weird because this thing has like that proper full on. You know Qualcomm chipset, not like the watered-down one, but this is still a very good phone. You know, I think it's a very, very good performing phone as well, so I have very little complaints about it and I would still probably say the know.
Performance is the asset more than it's like a know con. So in terms of that that covers it up there and to kind of sum up this video and say answer the question: should you still go buy a Google Pixel 4 in 2021? Well, I mean I'll, tell you this, you know. I think this one is still completely worth it for sure. I think it's a solid phone in so many ways. Furthermore, I just don't know if it's like the perfect phone for the value and what I mean by that is you know when you have a phone.
Like a know: Google Pixel 4. You're getting a perfect performing phone you're, getting a perfect software on this hold, as well, but you're kind of limited in certain things like the camera and the battery life, and even probably the performance a little like it's not hitting it right now. But there's going to be a point where, like this one's, not going to be as great of a performing phone as something like the Google Pixel 6, that's coming out, so I would probably recommend you to wait it out. You know: don't buy this phone right now, if you don't have to I'd, probably recommend buying the Google Pixel 6 or something like that or wait until the pixel 6 comes out, and then you can buy Google Pixel 5 for much cheaper, because I think the pixel 5 is a much better phone than the pixel 4. But really you can't go wrong with the pixel 4.
I think it's still worth it in the middle of this year, and you can't really go wrong with picking it up either. So that's essentially it if you guys have any other questions or anything. Let me know in the comment section as well hit the like button on me so much, but definitely hit that subscribe button.
