Hey guys and gals Danny Boy here and today, I have the Google Pixel three an Excel here, and what I want to talk about in this video is the actual battery in this phone and what my experience has been after using this phone for some time here, and we'll also discuss the charging brick that comes with it and what you can expect out of that. So you know we know this is Google's mid-range handset. This is the larger of the two being the XL Edition, so we got the three AXL, and it retails for 479 dollars, and so you know as far as battery goes, you really can't expect flagship level quality from this phone, because it's not a flagship device. So I'm, you know in general, I'm used to using flagship phones, I have an iPhone 10s X I have a one plus seven pro, which is pretty much a flagship phone. So this phone, you know it's got a 3700 William hour battery in it and so that you know that that's you know it seems pretty respectable. For a phone of this size, I mean this is about the same size as my iPhone 10s max.
It's not a super thick phone I mean it's relatively thin, and it's definitely lightweight. So 3700 William hour seems like it would be good. My personal experiences band now I use my phone in general I would say about medium usage. Generally it's off to charge, maybe oh I would say 12 to 13 hours in general, it's off charge and what I've been experiencing with this phone is, at the end of the day, with medium usage, we're talking, maybe I have 50% battery left now the same usage on the iPhone 10s Mac's or the OnePlus 7 pro you know, I'd be up at about 65 to 70% battery left same usage at the end of the day, so that kind of gives you an idea where I'm coming from with this, so I would have to conclude that battery wise this phone is average. It definitely didn't.
Allow me in the battery department and I will say: I do have the always-on display on here and I have not tried. Turning that off. If I did turn that off, it might bump the battery up to be significantly better. So it's definitely not a bad battery by any means, but I wouldn't call the performance great either. So for me, it's been about average, that's what I would call it, and we can go into the phone here and kind of look and see what they offer us and the realm of the battery here.
So if we go to battery one cool thing, is they do? Let you determine when you want your battery power saving mode to turn on? So that's really nice I have mine, set at 30%. I haven't reached that yet so that's a good thing can read there. I have that turned on, but, like I said my performance about average. Of course, you can show your battery percentage up there. So that's about the gist of the software end of the battery.
You know that's what you're dealing with, and you know it's got some stats there for you too. So, especially considering this is a 1080p panel. You know your kind of wish the battery was a touch better, but it is what it is. So here's what we're dealing with as far as charging goes. This is the charging brick that came with it.
It's a pretty nice sized brick as a matter of fact, I was kind of surprised when I got unboxed the phone that they set. This nice of a brick with you know a mid-range phone here, but they did and the charging capability of the pixel three AXL here is up to 18 watts, and it wouldn't surprise me at all. If this charger does the 18 Watts says it's a 5, volt charger I, don't know you can read the stats there for yourself, but it wouldn't surprise me if it does charge it at that full 18 Watts, because that's one big advantage. Here's this phone does charge up really fast, I mean I, would say it's totally charged up in about an hour and a half or so when the battery is low. That would be about my estimation: I've not really ever had it super low.
So I really can't comment but based on what I've seen it charge from fifty percent I'd say: you're, probably looking at about an hour and a half to charge it the full power. So that's pretty good, so pretty good brick here, obviously it's USB type-c and to the brick here and then the other end is USB, see, of course. Now what I do is I plug mine into the wall and I have the smarts and which is like a rubber stand. I think I, doubt it on Amazon and what I do every night, since this doesn't have wireless charging. You know it is a plastic back, no wireless charge, and fortunately, but for me, it's not that big a deal because I just go like this set it on the stand there I'm good to go.
It takes maybe two or three seconds longer than if I actually had it in a wireless charge, cradle I mean come on. It's really not that big a deal. Definitely for me, it's not a dealbreaker, but I only charged my phone, usually at night. Just because I don't use it super heavy. So you know the ability to throw it on a wireless charger at any time anywhere.
It's really not that big of a concern. For me. It's definitely nice when a phone can do that and if you're a power user, if you're a heavy user, you're, probably going to want that, but I'm perfectly happy here with the corded charging, so yeah I mean I would not say the battery on the pixel 3 AXL is one of this phone strong points. It might be stronger, like I said, if you turned off the always-on display. I might do that sometime here, just out of curiosity to see how much does up the battery life, but you know that's kind of what we're dealing with here with this phone, but it's definitely fine.
You know having 50% at the end of the day. It's perfectly fine for me. It's not nowhere's near where I'm concerned about the battery at all, so guys, that's my thoughts on the battery and the charging of the Google Pixel 3a XL here, as always, if you're enjoying my videos be sure to subscribe to the channel and of course, heading that thumbs up button helps as well, but for now guys peace out.
