Google Pixel 2 XL VS Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus!

The world pixel ? and a pixel ? Excel are almost here, so they've been announced last week and the official release by the way is an October 17th. Now I've actually done an in-depth comparison of the pixel ? and the note 8, the pixel ? and the iPhone 8 and the pixel 2 and the iPhone 10. So the link for all of these videos is in the description in case. You are interested in any of the other comparison to duck down, but in this one I'm going to see how the pixel to excel compares against the Samsung Galaxy, S, 8, plus, okay, so starting off with the design, both phones feature some really thin bezels over the s8 plus definitely has a more futuristic design, especially since it comes with curved edges. We have basically 0 with side bezels on this thing, and then we also get at the top and a bottom of the bottom bezel, both of which are actually thinner than the pixel 2 XL ones. Then the back of the s8 is made out of glass, while the back of the pixel to Excel is made out of glass and aluminum.

So it comes in this two-tone color, especially if you get this white model, I think it looks pretty interesting. We get the black portion on the top and then the white back, but overall design wise the is+ definitely feels and looks a lot better and more futuristic. Now in terms of the actual dimensions in terms of the height, the sh+ is actually one point: six millimeters taller than the Google Pixel 2xl and there wasn't a width. The pixel 2xl is actually three point three millimeters wider than the s8 plus it's actually a bit more difficult to hold in your hands and then, when it comes to the thickness, the s8 is actually zero point two millimeters thicker than the pixel to excel and finally, in terms of the weight the pixel to Excel is two grams heavier. If you care about that now, moving on to the display in terms of the display size, we have a six point two into display on the s8 +, which translates to an 84% screen to body ratio which is just insane and on the pixel to excel.

We have a six-inch display which actually translates to a 76.4% screen to body ratio. Now internal resolution, we have 29 60 by 1440 on the SI +, which translates to PPI of 529 and on the pixel to Excel. We have 28 80 by 14 14, which translates to 538 PPI, so the pixels to Excel is actually a tiny bit better resolution wise. If you care about VR by the way- and speaking of you are both of these phones actually feature a first-party VR headset, so the Samsung Galaxy x8 plus, you can get the gear VR with the AC plus and then for the Google Pixel. We have the Google Beijing VR.

Now what you want to the display feature is there's quite a few that I want to mention so on the AC plus we have a 3d touch home button, so you don't see the home button. But when you press hard on the display on the bottom section, this one is pressure sensitive, and you can go home from pretty much anywhere. You want, and anywhere you are, which is really, really cool and useful on the s8 plus. We don't have this on the grill pixel on the Google Pixel -. We always have that navigation bar which, by the way, is actually hide the ball on ESA plus then.

Yes, applause also comes with an 18 point: 5 by 9 aspect ratio display, whereas the pixel 2 XL comes with an 18 by 9 aspect ratio display. So this plays a bit longer and wider on the is+ than on the Google Pixel to excel. Then we also have HDR 10 support on the Samsung Galaxy s, 8 plus, and by the way. This is also an AMOLED display manufactured by Samsung. Obviously it comes with a thousand it's a brightness and then on the pixel to excel.

We have something really cool: that's called always-on, music detection, so basically on the always-on display, which you have them both on a pixel to excel. You can always see if a song is playing in the background it will automatically detect the song, like you know, freeze em does, and it will display the artists and the song name on the always-on display without you having to go through. You know your apps and search for that song. So this is really, really cool. One of my favorite features ever on smartphone by the way- and we have this on a pixel to excel and a pixel to ordering that a pixel to excel comes with a p.

o LED display which is manufactured by LG. Now the only difference between them. The main difference is that the Leola display is thinner, since you don't have a glass sheath. So P comes from plastic, so it's thinner than the OLED, but that's the main difference. When it comes to the brightness, we don't actually know.

What's the actual brightness on the pixel to excel, but my guess is that it's lower than on Samsung Display. Ok, now moving on to the camera, we have a single lens camera module on both now the pixel to excel comes with a 12 point, two megapixel sensor, whereas the is+ comes with two 12 megapixel sensor, the pixel 2xl also comes with a one over two point: six inches sensor. So that's the size of the sensor and yes, A+ comes with one over 2.5 inches, so the one on the one on the s8 is actually a tiny bit larger and then, when it comes to the actual pixel size, we have 1.4 microns on both, because you know you have more pixels on a pixel to Excel. So the actual sensor, the actual pixel size, is the same on both. Now when it comes to the aperture, we have F 1.8, vs, F 1.7. So overall, the s 8 should be a tiny bit better and low light than the pixel 2 XL is in terms of optical image.

Stabilization. We have both optical image, stabilization and electronic image. Stabilization on the pixel 2 XL versus just OAS, on the s 8, so on people -. This means that it uses the gyroscope inside your phone to stabilize the video even further. Now this was amazing on the pixel 1, which, by the way, only had electronic and stabilization no optical and on a pixel of 1, a stabilization worked amazing, and I'm, a pixel -.

It's going to work even better. Since now, you finally have OS as well. Now in terms of autofocus, we have dual pixel, plus laser autofocus on both so auto. Focusing is gonna, be really, really quick on both of these phones and then something fascinating is that on pixel to excel, we actually have portrait mode. Even though we don't have a second camera module, it actually uses the dual pixels from the sensor to actually create.

You know to measure the distance between those two pixels and the distance between two. You know object to pixels on an image and that's basically how you can get that test effect on a pixel to excel. Furthermore, you don't have this on the Samsung Galaxy s, 8 plus, even though it's possible in the future update for something to add this, but we have it on a pixel -. Now, when it comes to the front-facing camera, we have an 8 megapixel sensor on the pixel 2 XL versus the same 8 megapixel sensor on the s 8. Now in terms of the aperture, we have F 2.4 on the pixel to excel vs. F 1.7 on the sh+, so pretty big difference here, the s 8 plus it should definitely be better in low light. Now, when it comes to the actual video recording, we can do 1080p up to 30 frames per second on the pixel to XL vs.

quad HD up to 30 frames per second on ES, 8 plus so from the specs alone. The front-facing camera looks much better on the s8 speaking of the front-facing camera. The s8 also has autofocusing might wait on a front-facing camera which not a lot of phones do so. This is a huge plus on the SI plus okay, next time when it comes to video capabilities and features of the camera. On a pixel ?, we have 4k video at 30 frames per second and the same for is, so 4k video at 30 frames per second.

When it comes to slow motion, we have 720p 240 on both. So no differences here, and we'll come to the special features. We have live photos on a pixel to excel and motion photos which is essentially the same thing on ESA plus. Then, when it comes to AR functionality, Google actually wants to use pixel to excel for a lot of AR apps, so they develop the equivalent of a kit for Android, and they said that the cameras are calibrated for AR, which ds8 wants aren't. So if you're about an are, this is gonna work, much better on a pixel to excel versus the Samsung Galaxy S8.

Now something really cool about a pixel to Excel is that you have unlimited photo and video storage up until 2020. So we can store all of our photos and videos and Google photos in the cloud at full resolution, unlimited until 2020, and then the resumption will be dropped to 12 megapixels for photos and 1080p for videos and then finally, one pretty big advantage to BS 8 is that it comes with full manual mode. So you have a full manual mode for photos. You can adjust pretty much anything you want there ISO shutter speed. Even the white balance, everything you want can be adjusted on the OH plus.

You don't have this on the Google Pixel. So if you care about photos, if you want to take professional looking photos, you can even take RAW photos by the way with the SI plus. In that case the SI plus is a perfect option, but when it comes to the actual photo quality from the press, images that I've seen on the pixel, the pixel to photos looked unbelievable I mean just take a look at these. So these photos look I, don't know the digits look stunning like photoshopped stunning nighttime, shots, look amazing by the way for a smartphone camera and overall HDR processing looks outstanding and in terms of HDR processing. This was the case with the original pixel.

HDR processing was amazing, but on a pixel ?, this seems to be even better and even more improved. Just take a look at these shots. Let me know the comments. What do you think I'm really really really impressed so camera wise, especially considering the element add photo and video storage I would honestly with the Google Pixel ?, even though the s8 definitely has a much better front-facing camera? Now moving on to the specs, we have the Snapdragon 835 on both and then with a Samsung is. Plus we have the Exodus 1895.

If you go for the international version of ESA plus when it comes to the round, we have four gigabytes on both so spec wise, they're, really, really similar almost identical. Actually, the only difference is the international version of BS 8 +, which comes with the access 80 and an a5 chip which is made by Samsung, and this one is actually slightly more powerful than the Snapdragon 835. But that's only if you get the European or the international model, but by far the biggest difference between these two phones isn't in terms of the camera or the design or the display, but the software. So on the pixel we have stock Android straight from Google straight out of the box. It comes with Android, 8.0 or Android or EO, and you also get day 1 updates now on the s8. On the other hand, this one comes with Android 7.0, yes, not even 7.1 7.0, which is now a one-year and two-month old operating system. And on top of all this, you got a ton of Samsung bloatware.

So you get duplicate apps a lot of them like to calendar app. So you get to messaging apps, you get Samsung's photo gallery app, and then you get you know stuff, like Samsung's, Galaxy, galaxy store and a bunch of a lot of useless stuff that doesn't work. Well and that no one wants or no one needs, and then you also get stuff such as you know, the Bigamy voice assistant I mean Samsung, even added a dedicated Bigamy button. Just for this, so like you're, not we get a ton of bloatware with Samsung which, by the way, yes, it does slow your phone down quite a bit. So software wise, there's just no competition.

The pixel 2 XL wins by a mile here and that's not just because of no bloatware, but also because of the fluidity, the speed and, of course, you know, because of the day, one updates and not updates, which are like oh you're, late or even more than a year late, Samsung, ok, now moving on to the special features, I'm only going to cover the differences between those two, because, obviously they all come with common features like Bluetooth, 5.0 and so on, which I'm not going to mention again. So the first one would be on the Google Pixel to excel the upfront stereo speaker. So this is actually one of the main reasons why we have those fairly thick bezels on the pixel ? and the pixels in Excel. So from Stewart speakers compared to you know the downwards facing speaker that we have on BS 8 plus, which is honestly one of the worst speakers I've ever heard on a smartphone. It's awful.

By the way, then we also have something pretty cool on a Google pistol to excel and that's a squeeze function for the goal assistant, so you can just squeeze your phone and then that would activate Google Assistant, and you get different levels of pressure and so on. So that's pretty interesting and then finally, we have a fingerprint reader on the back in the middle by the way in the middle, not on the right hand. Side like you have on DSA plus, for example, so Google also claims that this is one of actually the fastest fingerprint reader on any smartphone, so really curious to see how this claim actually stands up. Okay, now what about the S, 8 plus? Well, a lot of features so IB 68 water resistance versus IP 67 on the cool pixel to XL. Then we also have a micro SD card support up to 256 of extra gigabyte.

So you can just get a micro SD card and expand the storage to up to 256 extra gigabytes of storage. Then we also have a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, which, by the way, was removed from the Google Pixel to excel and equal pixel 2. Then we also have were charging by the way which, for some reason we still don't have on the Google Pixel. We haven't. We had it on the Nexus phones, but now it's been removed from you know the pixel 1 and a pixel 2 excels no wireless charging.

Unfortunately, then we also have an iris scanner and face unlock so on a pixel 2. You have to use the fine pin reader on the back, but only is plus you can use the iris scanner, which actually works really well or the face unlock, which is even faster than the iris scanner. But then you can trigger that with a photo, but yeah iris scanner is the best option for me personally on BS 8 plus, then we also get a heart rate and an oxygen level meter on the back in case you need those there are a preschools to have. If you think about it, you don't even get an oxygen level meter on the Apple Watch, and you get it. You know on a Samsung, Galaxy, S II, so it's pretty useful to have.

Then we also have headphones in the box. Yes, I'm saying these headphones in the Box, we don't get headphones inside a pixel to XL, which is definitely something that you should consider, because if you need to buy separate headphones, if you don't have you know any headphones lying around with the pixel to XL, whereas with Samsung we actually get AKG, two headphones, which actually sound pretty good and it. Finally, we got that pressure-sensitive home button that I've mentioned before. So what about the battery life? Well, in terms of the battery size, we get a thirty-five twenty hundred million power battery on a pixel to excel and a thirty-five hundred million parts battery on the sh+. So yes, the pixel to excel, will last you longer the honey, especially since there's no second voice assistant running in the background, like Bigamy or a bunch of extra processes that would affect not just the performance but also the battery life, so battery life picks up to excel okay.

But what about a storage options? Well on a pixel to excel? We get 64 gigabytes and 128 as the options and then on BS 8, plus it's mostly 64 in almost all regions, there's also a version with 128 and 6 gigabytes of RAM, but for most regions it's 64 gigabytes. But then you also get a possibility to expand this even further to up to 256 of extra gigabytes of storage. If you need it, ok, but what about the price now? Well, the pixel to excel starts at eight fifty dollars or eight hundred pounds in the UK and the SI plus starts at eight fifty dollars or seven hundred and eighty pounds in the UK. But now the SE+ is actually cheaper. Now, after the note 8 launched, so you can probably find an SI plus quite a bit cheaper at this time and different places than the pixel to excel okay.

So, in the end, which one is a better phone, well design-wise, the DSA plus definitely wins performance wise, the pixel to excel definite wins. Camera wise I would honestly go with the pixel because of processing when it comes to the features the SI plus wins when it comes to the display. The is plus wins when it comes to storage and price vs, 8 plus wins so overall I would say that yes, A+ has more bang for the buck to offer so to say, and as long as you disable all the blocker that Samsung added- and you know Bigamy and stuff like that- that you don't need and only affects performance, you can actually get a pretty fluid smartphone and a pretty fluid experience. Obviously, provided that you don't care about no updates, but yeah. Let me know the comments, what you guys think, which one would you pick and why and also subscribe if you want to see more videos more interesting in the F comparisons like this one and enable notifications so that you're notified one, a new video comes out.

Also, I've done a few different other comparisons, and if comparisons like this one against, you know pixel to iPhone 10 pixel to iPhone 8 pixel to melt 8. So if you want to check any of those videos, and they're late for all of these is in the description down below but yeah, this is being pretty much it for free cos, you're like if I've enjoyed it. Let me know- and this is been pretty much it, so I- think of watching I'm, Daniel and I'll- see you guys in my next one. It's enough that Sammy know Jess.
