Galaxy A11 (Samsung Budget Phone 2020)

Welcome back to the channel, what we have right here is the brand new Samsung Galaxy, an 11 which is one of the most affordable phones in Samsung's, new, a series lineup, and this one's coming in at about $170, possibly cheaper. Once you find sales, and that leaves me with a lot of questions like what did Samsung add to this device. What did they pull down from their flagship models that trickle down into the more affordable ones? What did they cut out, and how well did this phone actually work for $170? No, we'll be answering all of those questions in this video and I want to break it down and show you guys some actual tests of the cameras, the microphones, the screen and pretty much everything you would want to know. So you can decide for yourself if this is actually the right phone for you to buy. Now. With that in mind, let's start off with a physical tour of this device and I want to start off on the backside of this phone because it has a pretty interesting layout.

So we're starting to see it kind of common theme of this entire phone is we're seeing a lot of the flagship features, slowly start trickling down in one way or another, so we're seeing camera arrays we're seeing three cameras on the back of much more affordable phones. Now, starting with the back like I said, we have three cameras on the top I'll talk about them later on. We have a 13 megapixel wide-angle sensor with a 5 megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor, and then we have a 2 megapixel depth camera that you generally won't be using a lot, and I'll talk about that later on then, next to that we have our flash. We have our fingerprint sensor, and I'll test out the accuracy and speed of the fingerprint sensor later on in the video as well below that we do not have wireless charging, it's something that would be nice to have, but, honestly, for this price point, you can't be disappointed that they did not include that right. On the back of this phone now on the bottom, we have a USB type-c charging port, which is something very exciting to see on more budget-friendly phones.

Next, to that we do have our speaker on the bottom and on the other side we have one of our microphones going around the left side. We have our sim tray right there and, if I pop that out you'll see it's actually pretty interesting, because it's not just a sim tray. So you can see here that this phone is actually capable of dual SIM and expandable storage at the same time, which is something you don't even see in the flagship model, so most flagship phones will have either an e SIM and a physical sim and then maybe expandable, storage, or they'll have the potential to have either two sims or a sim and a micro SD card, because that second slot typically doubles say one or the other kind of situation. So you can expand this up to 512 gigabytes. The phone by default comes with 32 gigabytes, which is okay, but if you want to have more storage for your photos or videos, you can go and spend like $25 and get maybe a 64 gigabyte, SD card, and you're good for a really long time when you're taking photos and videos with this camera.

Now another thing about the camera I didn't mention before it shoots 1080p at 30 frames per second, so it's not shooting 4k, which leads me to the processor in this phone. This is running a Snapdragon 450 series processor in here, which we'll see later on I'll, show you guys a speed test of this. It's definitely not nearly as snappy as some more expensive phones and for its class I would say it definitely matches the speed you would expect for around $170. On the top of this phone we have the very exciting headphone jack honestly I think a lot more people are definitely happy to have that option. On the right side, we have all of our buttons, so we have our volume rocker up and down.

You can also take screenshots by pressing that and the side key. At the same time, the button below that is called the side key. It's essentially your power button. So if you press it once it'll turn your screen on or off, if you double press it, it can either open the app of your choice. It can open Bixby, or it can open the camera I have it set to open the camera.

It's very quick, very convenient. If you triple press that you can't have an SOS go out to an emergency contact. If you enable that- and if you press and hold it, it can do one of two things: you can either open up Bixby or you can power your phone off. Finally, getting to the front of this phone, we have the very large six point. Four inch display.

This is 720 by 1560 is an LCD, which is honestly not the highest resolution. You'll see out there, but if anything, that should probably be pretty good for the battery on this phone is 4,000 William hours and talk about how long that was lasting me. But having that slightly lower resolution screen having 60 Hertz on here should be helping your battery quite a bit on the top left. You'll see. This is another thing.

That's really trickling down from the flagship phones that we have the hole, punch camera. So the bezels on this are definitely not tiny, but they're relatively small, especially because we have that hole, punch camera on the top of the phone. Above that we have our earpiece speaker and that's pretty much everything physically to talk about when looking at this phone. So now, let's get into a camera test to see how good these cameras actually perform all right guys. So this is the selfie camera.

This is what it looks like. This is what it sounds like it's honestly, really low saturation, so not a very green plant behind me, but you'll see that, because the cameras in the corner I really have to focus on looking at the camera. If I look at myself, it really looks like I'm just talking off in outer space here and now, using the rear, wide-angle camera. This is what it looks like. It sounds like so comment down below what you guys think it's slightly shaky, but ultimately it's probably not that bad.

It definitely gets the job done and then this is the ultra wide-angle camera, certainly a much lower quality than the primary shooter on this phone, but comment down below again what you guys think of this video right here so getting into a speed test: I'm gonna, first open up the YouTube app and something there note is you don't want to have too many apps open on the same time on this phone because it is limited to only 2 gigabytes of RAM. You can see he wrote, YouTube opened in about one second or so other apps open a little quicker and for the most part, I found that it definitely was a pretty snappy phone. Considering it's a 400 series Snapdragon getting into the cameras. You'll see the selfie camera looked a little grainy and average lighting right here generally a flat profile as well. If I gave it a ton of light and stood near a window, it looked significantly better way, less noise.

But if I turned on live focus, it generally kind of struggled with the edge detection, but the selfie camera overall does an okay job. As we go to the primary shooter, the 13 megapixel camera. It does significantly better. Honestly. This is a decent photo right here: good sharpness, good, color and, overall, a good contrast in the photo.

We can see in my yucca plant right here again same lens, and it looks a little flat, not the most vibrant greens, but definitely better than the ultra wide-angle camera. As you can see right here, which has a little more of a brownish tint to it and also really distorts the edges. So you can see like my windowsill and the corner of the room looks very curved in this photo as we go to pictures of people. You can see right here. The primary shooter did a pretty good job.

It did a lot of softening on my face and hair and skin tones were a little off, but for the most part, I was pretty impressed. The ultra wide-angle I was actually surprised that the skin tones and this one also looked pretty good, definitely a little more on the brown side. So for me, I just look a little more tan I, don't think that's bad for me, but different skin tones may have different effects here again. The ultra-wide for people it does an okay job as we get into live focus I think this actually an excellent job, mostly because it has the Deaf sensing camera, like I, said before you won't actually be using the depth. Sensing camera, except for live, focused photos right here, which it'll use that to pretty much detect where you are and does a much better job in essentially a portrait mode for blurring the background.

Now, of course, you do still occasionally have issues with under your armpit. Maybe it'll be a little bubble of clarity, but it did an okay job overall now night photos with this camera I would say that the primary shooter does an okay job. Although there is no night mode, you can get a third-party app to make that better, but the ultra wide-angle definitely struggled a lot because it is such a small sensor, and also you can tell five megapixels. You can see the grain or the lack of detail in all the photos with this camera and especially with the low-light photos, because it really is struggling when you don't give it a ton of light so getting into the fingerprint testing right now. I'll just put my finger on the back on the sensor in three two one, and you can see it signs in about half a second, so it does a decent job, pretty much as soon as I put my finger on turn the surrounding phone signs in very, very quickly, and I do say that the fingerprint sensor does a good job on this phone overall.

Now the face unlock, on the other hand, also unlocks very quickly, so you can see as soon as I look at it. It clicks it unlocks, maybe a total of half a second or one second, but this is definitely less secure of the two unlocks, because at the top you can see it doesn't have any infrared technology. It only uses the camera to unlock. So it's definitely a little less secure than other face unlocks out on the market. For my testing of this phone with a four thousand William hour battery, it should easily be lasting one day very comfortably and for most people will probably even two days so.

The first six and a half hours of today I went from 100% down to 80% and that's with one and a half hours of screen time, so I'll easily be getting through the rest of today and probably tomorrow, as well with normal use. So now for a quick speaker and screen test right here, I'm going to hit play and see how this looks so. The colors actually looked pretty good right there, and it's definitely bright enough. The speakers are a little quiet, though so overall I'm definitely impressed by this screen. It's not the most saturated with colors, but otherwise it looks pretty good.

It's definitely very bright, very large and for this price point, I'm really impressed the speakers, on the other hand, are definitely lacking bass, and they are a little quiet, quiet and muted, but certainly get the job done for basic video watching. So now, let's talk about what comes in the box with this phone I think it's really nice that they do include two things. First, obviously they include the wire right here. The USB type, a two USB type-c, like I, said before I, really like that it is using USB type-c on this phone. On top of that, it comes with a 15 watt, fast charger, which is really nice, because a lot of other phones don't come with fast chargers and being that this is such a large battery in this phone.

It's nice that you will just in the Box to be able to charge it in a fairly quick, a fairly short amount of time. Now. The third thing that comes in the box is going to be your earbuds right here. Good news, bad news. I mean good news is that is actually a really, really long cable there.

So that's probably I, don't know something like 5 or 5 or 6 feet, or something like that very long, cable, the bad news they're not necessarily going to be great earbuds. Some observations, I made with this phone. First, it's nice that it comes with a new version of Android and 1ui 2.0 on there and there are some features that they added in some that they removed comparing to the flagship versions that also have one UI 2.0, but either way it's nice that you're having this skin. This wrapper from Samsung on this phone, so you are able to do pretty much all the Samsung stuff, so connect to Galaxy Buds very easily, just by opening the case. For example, it's a really nice thing on top of that some cool things they added, so they have ultra data saving mode.

So, if you're worried about your plan, maybe you only get three gigs a month or one gig a month or something like that, and you don't want to use too much data. You can turn that on, and it should be saving you money and saving you data in the end by just limiting, what's actually downloaded so compressing images. Turning off background data stuff like that, they also have. They also preserve things like focus mode on here, which is something I personally really like if you're trying to work or focus or do something with friends- and you want to disable- maybe social media notifications- you can go into focus mode and turn that on for some amount of time and just turn it off whenever you're done something that they did. Remove, though strange thing right here is that it does not have the screen Order in here.

That's something we see with the flagship versions, not to a lot of people really use that I find I use it a lot, maybe mainly for videos, but it's something to note regardless. This also doesn't have NFC, so you won't be using Samsung or Google Pay with this phone, so guys overall I'm very impressed $170 for a very large screen on this phone, a hole-punch camera. We've got a headphone jack, USB type-c, and we have one UI 2.0 on here. I think it's definitely a very impressive setup, also with multiple cameras on the back for that price. It's really hard to argue with what they're giving you here.

There are a couple of recommendations. I have so, first the fingerprint sensor it works well, but I recommend is having your same fingerprint registered as two different fingerprints in their so register. Your fingerprint then say add another and register that same fingerprint. That way, you'll have a better chance of signing in on the first try. It works every single time for me now that I've done that another recommendation is increasing, touch sensitivity in your settings, that'll make it feel a little faster.

It is a little more accurate and more sensitive than and also to make it look faster. I recommend going in reducing animations, so 1ui 2.0 does have these animations. When you open, apps and do stuff, and with this phone they tend to look a little slower and take more time reducing those makes the phone feel a lot snappier. Unfortunately, this an 11 did not include a clear phone case, unlike the other, a series phones, honestly I, don't know that this phone I mean I, probably won't be putting a case on this phone. Some people might want to, but it's an all plastic body, it's pretty durable, and so I'm, not especially worried about this phone so guys, that's everything I have to say about the Samsung Galaxy an 11, an impressive phone for the price point for sure comment down below and let me know you guys think about this phone.

Any features that you like any features you wish it had and if you think you would be buying this phone or not as always guys. Thank you all for watching. I'll see you next time.
