Blackberry KeyOne unboxing + short review / android wear 2 update

Hey guys how's it going today we're going to take a look at the BlackBerry key one. Now this is a device that I heard about in the beginning of this year, and I've been meaning to get my hands on this thing for a while now, but you know it's been kind of hard to get I believe the first day that it was available, which was May 31st it pretty much sold out on Best, Buy and Amazon, which is kind of surprising to me, because you know who would have thought that blackberry in 2017 2017 would sell out their phones. This is actually not made by blackberry. It's made by a company called TCL. They just use the BlackBerry license. However, this phone has gotten a lot of good reviews online and a lot of people have been wanting to get their hands on it me included.

So you know, because I'm, a'll collect phones that I think are unique, and this is pretty much the only phone on the market with a physical keyboard and of course, BlackBerry has a good history with physical keyboards and everything. And, of course, I want to upgrade my blackberry period as well, because that phone had a lot of disappointments. Let's say, and I've heard a lot of good things about this phone, so yeah, let's see what we have 4G LTE 4.5 inch, IPS 16 twenty by ten. Eighty, that's a little of weird resolution, but that's what it is.432 PPI should be very good, Snapdragon 625, which is not the most powerful processor, but it's not bad either. It's kind of like a mid-range 12, megapixel autofocus, dual tone flash on the rear, which should be pretty standard.

These days, probably won't be as good as my Google Pixel, but should be still pretty decent and then a megapixel front camera, which is perfect. It's way better than the iPhone SE that I have them. Recording with right now has liked I think down still how it only has the 1.3 megapixel or whatever 32 gigs, plus three gigs of memory, I believe it's expandable to micro, SD and 3505 William hour battery comes with the latest Android, which is 7.1 all right. Let's go through with the opening. Alright, let's go ahead with the opening of these things.

This case is pretty similar to the one for the prayer. Well, here, go blackberry, key one, this box here, oh there's, more stickers, XD, cough I, guess, okay, here it is I. Think this is the BlackBerry key one has the system called D Tech, which is also in the proof. This is a second BlackBerry device to use Android the first being the curve and has this D tech protection, secure software, I guess, which should make BlackBerry devices, including the proof and the key one more I, would say secure in theory, but in practice odd, and I'm, not sure how it really secure it is caught. It's obviously not going to be as secure as you know, BlackBerry 10 OS, because that one has native security built into it, but should be better security than most Android phones.

Anyway, okay see its take off this cover. Okay, so that is our 12 megapixel shooter on the back here, pretty nice big hammer actually, and it's the dual tone: mines right here: dual tone lens right here: a nice leathery back finish: I, like it there's a SIM card slot right there, as you can see that alright sim card slot right there are volume buttons, I guess this is a mute button and this will be the on button, and it charges via USB see that's what all phones should use these days. USB see and take this protective cover off so come down here, alright, so yeah! This is a pretty good Serena. Take 4.5 inches is pretty good, and this keyboard is pretty nice, to think it feels pretty nice, especially when compared to my proof, I, don't have my proof here right now, I actually got rid of it, but I think the keyboard here is definitely an improvement over the proofs keyboard. The keyboard I felt was just way too small really hard to click and of course it was a slider.

So it was basically like this except it can go up. You know more, it's more vertical! Taller, so it's not really hard to actually use it with one hand. This I can easily see it. You know this. One I can easily use with one hand it's just very comfortable to grip.

You know, I can even type with one hand. So that's definitely a lot more usable than the proof was in that sense, yeah pretty good and of course you have the webcam up here. It should be 8, megapixel, webcam right there I think it's a stay with speak things. Maybe ? reset button should be a micro SD in this thing, I believe I, like you once again, you'll say we also get here. We go.

We get out, there's no card removal. Key even iPhone, does not give you okay. Well, fingerprint sensor is actually on the space bar. That's pretty interesting and that's a good place. To put it, actually.

I did not think about that. That's a good place to cut it notification LED! So that's notification, LED right there in the webcam, that's pretty cool! This should be micro, SD way in this thing. Okay, yes, there is micros, so it looks like micro SD as same as both on the tray itself, so yeah once you take out this little tray thing for the SIM card slot. It actually also includes the micro SD / yeah. That's what I thought and, of course includes the charger right here as well as some okay-looking earphones I guess it won't be anything special, but there's something phones as well and yeah us USB, cable.

So, like yeah, that's it that's black mark e1 unboxing! Some! This is probably going to replace my Google Pixel. So here it is compared to my Google Pixel right here you can see size. Difference is a little bigger than the Google Pixel. Actually, even though the screen is smaller is 4.5 inch. This is a 5-inch screen, but of course it has a keyboard on it which takes up some space.

The thing I don't like about the pixel is that pixel is a perfect phone. I love the camera on this phone and I love. How fast it is. It's a perfect phone really fast and responsive, really a camera on it um, but there are some things: I don't like it doesn't have a micro, SD card slot, and you have to buy the 32 128 gigs, which means you could run out of space potentially and the other thing is this not well? This is a minor complaint, but it is not water-resistant. Like my Xperia well, the black bug is not water.

We just get either, so I guess can't really complain about that. I did like my Xperia z3 compact in that area. The other thing I don't like is so the pixel. If you look at the back, why I'm, basically using this as my main phone now so the back? This part here is aluminum and then the top part here is made of glass for some reason now, because it's made of glass whenever, when I drop this that's why the top here kind of shattered the finger of my sensor is in a good location, and these are you know, honestly, the pixel cameras are probably the best cameras and Android smartphone still I, don't think the BlackBerry is going to beat it I still think the pixel camera is going to be the best, but you see here because they put the glass on the back here, really easy to shatter and effects my lens as well, which means I, can't really take any pictures with this anymore. You know not really I can't really take good pictures with anymore, because of that, so I don't know why Google had to pick how to put glass on this part, that's really easy to shatter, and then you know put the lens at the same spot.

So that's really annoying like if they made the whole thing just aluminum or titanium, even like the new essential phone. Then, if you drop it, when this thing wouldn't happen, you know it wouldn't happen so blackberry if I drop the blackberry I, don't think that would happen to this right. This has a looks like a nice matte black here, so nothing's going to shatter if I drop it. Let you off the back here. It's going to shatter obviously I think if I drop the front it's going to be damage to the screen, but the fact that I shattered the back here is really kind of disappointing.

So anyways Google pixels a good phone I use it with quadratic fly every. What, as everyone should, it's the best service? You can use the same amount of data, I mean you pay the same amount of data when you go abroad, so I want to use project by really great phone, but yeah. There is some design flaws with this, hopefully, will be fixed with the next pixel version, but uh blackberry, key one is going to be my new phone now and if you want look at the size difference here compared with a blackberry, Passport like I said: I, don't have my proof anymore, but you can get still compare it with passport, which does have that a better keyboard in the proof as well. It's a lot wider. Obviously it's the size on the passport a lot wider, but that makes it really great for you in webpages.

You can use the keyboard to school. I. Think you can do that with a key one as well. You can just scroll and yeah I think the key one is going to be a lot easier to carry, there's also the blackberry classic. Of course, the key one I think should be an upgrade over the classic in every way, except for the operating system, because I know that a lot of people still like blackberry, 10 OS, it's not going to be as secure as that, but I think it should be an upgrade in every other way over the blackberry classic but yeah.

This is a passport versus the key one you can see even the grill, the top part. It looks kind of similar with the speakers right in between the LED notification in the webcam. The back is made out of the similar materials. Both kind of this matte kind of finish right here, I think even the lens design look a little similar and blackberry q10 times the specs, but yeah and another thing I guy I want to show you that I didn't show before I think in another video is um, so I have a hobby watch right here. This is Android wear watch which I've done in a previous video but I'm going to, showing you guys to this with Android wear, to which I updated it with so right now, I'm using a with my pixel I'm, going to pair it with my key one soon enough, but the major difference now is that the notifications, when you swipe through if it's an it's a lot better suited for ground spaces.

So if you guys upgrade from Android, wear one to Android wear to is a huge difference in a huge improvement in usability, because now it used to be just like have a rectangular face, so something not really suited to the ground face. But now, if you see your notifications, it's very well formatted to the ground form factor this round design right. So I can see it's my calendar right now, Facebook eBay right! So it's very just much better suited to the ground form factor. Then Android wear one, and it used to be that you have to hold on the face to update the watch face. But now you just swipe it through like this, and then you can go through the different watch faces and stuff like that.

If you can do that, you can either go left or right. I think right will do. Oh, no I, guess not yeah. Maybe it's just going when you're just swiping. Oh, no! You can't right.

You can swipe right or left to switch the watch faces, which is a lot more natural. The other thing is before doing this would bring over the menu on the Android wear one, but now using the crown key would actually bring up the menu instead and the menu looks very different. The menu is a lot more suitable to the ground watch faces. Like I said before this was all vertical. This was all aligned vertically.

So you didn't. You probably only saw like three apps on a screen at once. So now you can see five apps, so this is definitely an improvement as well. You can see a lot more apps on your menu here than before, so yeah, basically Android. If you have a watch with a round design like mine, the higher your watch, the Android wear too, should be huge.

A massive improvement over Android wear one not to mention it at. It feels like it's actually faster as well. Usually when you get updates, it usually slows down your device, but Android wear to actually makes it faster. So there's no reason not to upgrade your Android wear ?, it's just amazing, okay, so anyways! That's enough about my watch. Let's go back to the black bear key one, and I'm going to start this up and show you guys a little more about my first impressions on it.

Alright guys, so I used it for a while now, and I really like it. It feels perfect in the hand I like the screen. It's very a beautiful display right here and the keyboard here is definitely better than the proof and very I think even better than the passport. In some ways, I felt like the passports keys, were a little too big, but these feel just right, probably not quite as good as the ancient classic BlackBerry devices like the BlackBerry, Bold and stuff, but still feels really, really good. Basically, this is what the proof should have been.

This is a perfect Android, a BlackBerry device and yeah highly recommend it. It's got a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack on top. Of course, you got to have that and USB charger micro SD, so it has a lot of features. I also have good battery life. I! Guess that's one of the things I like most about my experience.

We set a two-day battery life. This thing doesn't quite come up to that, but it's still, you know much better than most smartphones out there and that's another thing. I forgot to mention my Google Pixel is I, really don't like the battery life on the Google Pixel um, if I usually have to turn battery saver on every day, so that the battery doesn't run out of juice, which is really annoying because you know it should last for one day, but often I find that if I don't use battery saver on the Google Pixel by the time it's like 1:00 p. m. or 2:00 p.

m. already I'm ready down to like 30% battery life, which is absolutely ridiculous. So um yeah I think the BlackBerry key one should be a lot better than that we go to in battery life and other than that yeah. You can use a keyboard to school. Two things, it's very, very comfortable typing on this.

So if I go like this, and of course you have the autocorrect just the same as you had on the passport in the preview, that's very, very nice, and I think you can yep. You can do it landscape as well and school through landscape and that's very, very smooth as well so anyway, so that works I like scrolling through this with the keyboard. It's a very innovative thing that other smartphones don't have pretty unique to blackberry. Otherwise, on everything else is standard on Android 7.1. Here it does have a little of additional security because of the D Tech by blackberry.

This thing and I also have the BlackBerry hub, which is another unique thing about blackberry. Are they have the hub that stores all the quizzes? Yes, you have the BlackBerry hub that stores all your emails and stuff into one place, so yeah, anyways, um, alright and, of course, I have to have you are here on the lock screen like I do for all of my mobile devices? I always have her. Oh, you are from Girl's Day as the wallpaper for my lawn, my lock screen, just because it looks perfect, and you have fingerprint sensor everything works well and yeah. That's it um. Also, you this little button right here is a convenience button.

You can assign it to whatever you want, so I find it to the convenience key right here. So I find it to the camera and I think the camera is pretty good. Let's get something: okay, that's something! I can take a picture of you guys can see what the camera is, so I press the convenience key right here brings up the camera. This camera is actually pretty good. Definitely the best blackberry camera I've seen, yet you can make 16 by 9 2 by 2 1 by 1 4 by 3 aspect ratios HDR.

It has that and it has okay. So the video you can do 4k I, believe yeah. You can do 4k up to 4k 30fps. It has video stabilization which even my iPhone SE doesn't have yeah and as of course, flash and everything else, selfie camera to 8 megapixels. This is an 8 megapixel, selfie camera here.

So definitely one of the best selfie cams, I've, seen and I. Think then adjust exposure here, even here in just the exposure so yeah. If I want to take a picture of this focus, yeah, so that's safe, nope, maybe have to hold it for a while Oh okay. So maybe this button here only opens the camera app. It cannot actually function as a shutter button.

My bad so I guess I actually have to press key a virtual button here, panda grandma slow-motion. Of course, we can do all that, and you can put a filter on it vivid, for example, it's all vivid now, let's see what the photo looks like pretty good I would say: that's pretty good. You can, I know it's weird, because you're watching this through my iPhone I'm, recording you to my iPhone right now, so you're not going to like to see what actually looks like but um. Who me this looks really, really sharp. You can tell I even blurred a little the background there.

You have a little of okay there. So yeah it's going nice a 12, megapixel shooter, better than the proven the passport I believe and probably the best that BlackBerry's ever put on a phone, not sure if it's comparable to the pixel or not I, still think the pixel camera is really one of the best, but definitely a pretty good camera. It's no slouch and that's it. That's a BlackBerry key one, and it's a perfect phone I enjoy it, and I'll, probably using this one, just to stand out a little a while. He has a physical keyboard on this phone.

You know everyone else carries around the little black slaps that all look the same and have something a little different. So I like that, and I hope you guys enjoyed this unboxing in the mini review. That's it see you guys next time.
