How's it going everyone, it's me all, and I'm back for another video and for today we will be talking about the brand new black shark 4 and find out if this is the phone that you're looking for get it cause. Okay, anyways, let's find out if this is a great choice for people that are looking for a top-end gaming phone that can deliver excellent gaming performance without actually breaking the bank and since we're unboxed pH, let's go ahead and do a quick unboxing and go over the specs and overall performance of this phone for the box. This design screams out a heavy gamer, aesthetic all over it with the green accents and lots of metallic looking textured designs that can be seen on the front and on the sides. You can also see the details about the model located on the back, and we got the 8gb ram and 128 GB of storage in the mirror black variant inside the box. You get these really cool holographic, looking black shark stickers that I do think are really great additional freebies. It also comes with a small box that contains the usual important documentation and a hard plastic case.
That's right! There's no jelly case on this one. Only this really cool and simple hard plastic case, and of course it has the phone along with the 67 watt, charging brick and an USB type-c cable. So let's go over the phone design. Sadly, the overall gamer look that this box has donen't really show on the actual phone's design, with the lack of the usual RGB lighting found on the body, the black shark 4 offers a more simple and sleek. Look that sports a more traditional glass finish with a geometric x pattern that has a reflective effect depending on how the light shines on it.
The cameras are now placed in a horizontal manner, housed in a rectangular module located on the top middle part of the phone's rear, so the framing on this phone is made out of metal due to its standout features that are the physical shoulder buttons found on the right side. Here you can see two switches that reveal the pop-up shoulder buttons that are definitely better than the ultrasonic ones that we see on other gaming phones in the market. These buttons are activated by the switches on the side, and it can help you with your regular gaming experience on games such as Call of Duty, mobile League of Legends, wild drift and many more. It can also be programmed to function as a shortcut key either to take screenshots or a lot of other functions. You can also find the power button on the right that doubles as a fingerprint scanner, though one thing to take note of is that not a sensitive, no fingerprint sensor at all like, for instance, if you register this fingerprint mark right here, and you're just casually holding your phone using your other hand.
Well, sometimes it does register a lot of failed attempts, and it can be quite annoying. I don't know, maybe, because I'm more of an in-display fingerprint sensor type of person but yeah but hey it- does unlock easily and that's very cool, so yeah now on the left, you can find the volume rocker and the dual sim tray. Sadly, the phone doesn't come with expandable storage, so we have to work with what we got now on the bottom: there's a 3.5, millimeter, audio jack, an USB type-c charging port and the speaker grille. You can also find another speaker grille on top, so that both stereo speakers work together to help provide a better audio quality, even though the stereo speakers are good, it does lack a bit of volume and the wholeness of the bass, and you guys can check out this audio sample right here. Like other gaming phones out there, black shark does have a wide variety of gaming accessories for the phone, though none of these were provided to us for the review.
But the good thing here is that you guys can go check out the brand's official store if you want to avail these gaming accessories for your phone. Also, this phone does have a bit of weight to it, weighing at 210 grams, and it is 9.9 millimeter thick, but it is quite handy, though, for display the black shark 4 has a 6.67 inch super AMOLED display with a full HD plus resolution that includes a hdr10 capability. A 720hz touch sampling rate, 144hz refresh rate along with 1 300 nits of brightness, since this has an AMOLED display, expect it to deliver bright, colors and deeper blacks. The visuals were impressive, regardless if you're watching a video or playing games on this device, plus the 144hz refresh rate, makes the overall touch and swipe experience incredibly smooth. I can switch between apps with no delay.
However, it does have the option where you can change it between 60hz, 90hz and 144hz of refresh rate speaking of cameras. This does have a 20, megapixel, f, 2.0 punch, hole, selfie camera on the front, which I don't really mind, and I don't find it distracting at all on the back: the black shark 4 sports, a triple camera setup with a 48 megapixel main camera, with an f 1.8 lens. It also comes with an 8 megapixel. Ultra-wide with an f 2.2 lens and a 5 megapixel macro camera, with an f 2.4 lens. Overall, the cameras are pretty decent on this phone and the photos look good, though some colors are a little washed out, but the details are crisp and on point, so keep in mind that this phone is initially created for gaming and not so much for photography.
But the cameras do have its own strengths, and it may struggle a bit when it comes to bad lighting, but hey it does get the job done for simple everyday snaps, and I'm sure you guys aren't going to buy this mainly for the camera, because it is a gaming phone. After all, specs the black shark 4 is equipped with a Qualcomm snapdragon 870 processors, and this does come in several ram and storage configurations. But our black shark 4 unit has an 8 GB of ram and 128 GB of storage, and it runs on joy, UI, 12.5 based off android 11. I do wish they made it into snapdragon 8, because that is the most common thing right now with recent gaming phones, but hey, but for better comparison here are some benchmark scores, comparing both processors for performance. I tested this out on our usual games from asphalt, 9 Call of Duty, mobile and League of Legends wild rift.
Overall, I had no problem with its gaming performance. Even in high settings, most of the gameplay were smooth, and I experienced no lag at all, and it actually took me hours to play these games because the black shark 4 really enhances the gaming experience with those shoulder buttons that can assist you all throughout Plato on gaming, test, bumbling, Genshin Impact, and of course you guys know that this free game can definitely bring out the best or the worst when it comes to any mobile game test. Playing gen shin on this phone was an easy-breezy experience, especially on the low to medium settings, and I have to say those are the best settings to play this game on any device, but on high settings. Well, we did see a bit of stutter, but it's not a dealbreaker for sure, given that this device does warm up a bit when you play games on it for hours. But it's nothing too alarming.
Do take note that this phone has shark space is sort of a gaming hub where you can keep track of your phone's stats and temperature, while gaming also not to mention you can multitask on this. While in the middle of a game, you can take notes or even scroll on your feed while waiting for the load screen. Now the black shark 4 is packed with a 4 000 William hour battery, which is slightly lower than the 5 000 William hour battery. That seems to be the norm with recent gaming phones. However, based from our battery test, the black shark 4 lasted 19 hours and 55 minutes with moderate usage, which is a pretty impressive result.
Considering you can do so much with that battery life. Overall, the black shark 4 delivered a really impressive mobile gaming experience without it being costly compared to other gaming phone brands with the stunning AMOLED display 144hz refresh rate and despite it having a snapdragon 870 chipsets, the phone still delivered a top quality performance. Our unit is priced at 26, 990 pesos, but the black shark for starting price is at 24 950 for the 6 GB and 128 GB variant, and it can go all the way up to 34 990 for the 12 GB and 256 GB of storage variant, all available at their official Lazada store.
