Is it over yet is it purples done. Because I was kind of sick of all the joke. AIDS, perhaps the best jokes vid any channel could provide. You are no video at all. No expectations, no hopes destroyed, no confusion. I hate that day anyway, moving on Apple just introduced a new budget iPad, but the question is in terms of price and features.
How close is that to the iPad Pro they unveiled two years ago? Let's look at some facts, so it doesn't take much to do just a simple Amazon search and see what a brand new 2016 iPad Pro 9.7 inch costs for a new one. You can find them for around four hundred and thirty dollars, but of course, if you go in the used market, you look around on eBay or even Facebook, or you can find some refurbished or used ones for pretty low prices as low as $300, just by doing a simple Amazon search. In other words, this means that a fairly used, ? 2016 iPad Pro can cost approximately the same around the same spending cost as the new budget iPad. And what features are you getting? Well, of course, with the new budget iPad, you have that standard brand-new iPad for three hundred and thirty dollars fresh new lithium in there, and now, with the added Apple Pencil support the new blush gold color, the new 810 fusion chips, but that's about it. What confuses me about this lineup is the fact that, just two years ago, Apple was selling an iPad Pro that had a lot more features than this for one, of course, it had Apple Pencil support, but on top of that it had the laminated display every single YouTuber you hear out there who talks about the new budget iPad has to bring up, there's that little of a gap between the glass in the display on the new iPad.
Some people are bothered by that, but, ultimately I don't think it makes a major difference regardless, though, that iPad Pro that came out two years ago fed a much higher starting price, which is now trickled its way down to bit more reasonable within the three hundred four hundred dollar range that had a laminated display, in fact that had a true tone display, also something you would not get on a budget iPad that iPad Pro also had a smart connector, not a powerful as a CPU with the a9x, but not too far behind. In fact, some people have even commented that for graphical performance, the a9x actually might be a little better than the a-10 I'll. Let you guys in your Geek bench scores, compare that, but overall chips that come out about six months before the next-gen are usually not that different. As in yes, my iPhone 10 has a faster CPU than my iPad Pro, given that's an 11 versus a 10x, but it by no means is a night or day comparison. They both are very capable, both of which are going to be getting long-term.
Ios support in the same applies for this comparison here with the 2016 iPad Pro another 2018 iPad, with that old iPad Pro. You also got a smart connector if you ever decided to get the Apple Smart Cover I've never been interested in one, but you have that option if you do go with the used iPad Pro route now it is a bit more awkward because you will have that camera bump on the back and that's one nice thing about the 2018 iPad but as it seems with Apple, camera bump, usually means there's more stuff in the camera. So you have more recording resolutions. You have more megapixels with the iPad Pro and if you care about that type of photography and videography with your iPad, it seems like going with a 2 year. Old version is actually better in many shapes.
So this is an interesting discussion. We actually had recently on the tales of tech podcast, but I thought it was difficult enough that we could bring the conversation to the YouTube audience. So I have to ask myself which would I prefer if I didn't have my 10 and a half inch iPad. The promotion display was not a factor. The smaller bezels were not a factor if I was just in the market for a 300 to $400, iPad, and I was comparing the 2018 one and the 2016 Pro.
It's not an easy decision for me, because I really like having stereo speakers on my iPad, going back to the old days of having no true tone having no laminated display and having no stereo speaker, setup I think would be a little of a downgrade. Of course, there is an advantage to getting the more budget newer iPad. As you know, this is brand-new. This is brand-new coming from Apple no longer is selling the nine point, seven-inch iPad Pro, which means that if you do have to buy that you have to not get it from Apple and if you want to get it at a more competitive price that would be equivalent to that of the current budget. iPad you have to either go use for furbished or probably again, through Facebook, Amazon or eBay.
So a lot of people are against that. Even though Apple designed both these tablets and Apple put more features on one of these tablets, a lot of people out there just going to say no. If I buy something it has to be through, Apple I want that warranty supports and, of course, if you're buying a brand-new iPad, that's never been used. This means that the lithium in it is brand new and fresh, and, as we've heard about the CPU down throttling because of older devices, this could mean that that older I Pro might age a little quicker than in if you're buying it used. This has been charged up and drained several hundred times over, which means that the down throttling for iOS to preserve your battery life that might be more noticeable in that 2016 iPad.
But again we are talking about the three hundred four hundred dollar budget zone. That means, when you're buying these things they're going to work fine for years anyway, and you're not even putting that much money into it. So I don't think people who spend that little on a product really expect it to last as long as what more expensive one. Regardless, though these are both perfect choices as in both of them are fairly budget. Both of them are likely going to get iOS, 12, 13 and probably 14, but that's when you might start seeing the discontinuation, and if this is the tipping point for anyone out there, the nine point, seven-inch iPad Pro I believe has the second generation of touch ID.
Since the budget iPad was built primarily for schools and education, they used the original touch ID sensor, which is not as fast. So, if you think about just spending a little more, if you just decided to go ahead and get the brand-new nine point, seven-inch iPad Pro and don't go the used route, you're spending about an extra $100, but you're. Getting that true tone which I've really enjoyed on my iPhones and iPad, that color temperature matching you're getting a laminated display. So on all of these iPad reviews, where you keep hearing about that gap, that problem would be fixed. You'd have a better camera, you'd have better speakers on there and, of course, the smart connector.
If you want to go with the physical keyboard route, which is not an option on the new budget, iPad personally, I think at the end of the day, I would rather go with a two-year-old pro. What's awkward to me about the new budget, iPad and you've probably noticed this with all the YouTubers unboxing them and reviewing them right now is that it's very difficult to get excited about it's technically this new iPad, but in actuality, the three changes are color a chip on the inside, which is a little faster in that extra sheet of digitizer they implement in there, so that it can support the Apple Pencil. The purpose of this iPad is to be cheap, but the primary new feature it has requires you spending a hundred dollars on a pencil, a lot of pro users out there, of course, already had the pencil and probably the people who are unboxing it and reviewing, and now they already have the pro I know a lot fewer people out there who are actually just now buying the new budget iPad and now buying a new Apple Pencil as well, because when you consider that now it's a four hundred and thirty dollar price tag, which again is the same price of an unopened, 2016 iPad Pro that you could get on Amazon and that's a fresh lithium battery that one hasn't been used up and, of course, you're. Getting the true tone. Quad speakers, center camera laminated display faster touch, ID I, don't know! This is a really tough comparison to me.
In fact, I think it would have been easier for Apple to instead of just designing a whole new iPad. Why not just give a price reduction to the old 2016 iPad Pro even changed the name. If you want apples, naming is all screwed up anyway, I don't care if they just made that two-year old one. Now the budget one now the three hundred and thirty dollar one I think overall you'd still have a lot better features and all these tech reviewers right now would be like. Oh, this is a lot easier.
This has a lot cooler features than the last budget iPad. Instead, we're left with oak color and pencil support, which we've had on the pros. Now it's on a cheaper iPad seriously, though, like watching those unboxing is the most depressing thing ever everyone's alike. Here it is, it doesn't look very different. Okay, and this is the color, and it does this, which we already knew in case.
You were wondering why I haven't uploaded an unboxing of it. Unlikely won't be ever is because there's not really much to talk about I already have an iPad with Apple Pencil supports that runs way better than that one and the changes between that one and last year's budget iPad are extremely minimal. But overall, with the theme of this video which iPad, would you guys decide? I'm very curious, because I see a lot of people go either way. Would you rather go with a brand-new iPad that just came out or a two-year-old one for about the same price? That has a lot better features. A lot of those pro features at a more budget-friendly option, which one would you guys decide? Let me know down in the comments below this.
Is your Apple shape here, I just shaved a little? Don't worry. It's growing back faster every day and I will see you in the next one.
