Xiaomi Mi 10S: The Camera Review! By JEMZ Space

Okay, so, let's start with an outdoor picture- and I have one of this interesting tree here- there's a lot going on, and the camera manages to pick up some fine details on the tree, bark and a wood chip on the ground. However, the HDR capability is not too great, as the sky looks washed out and detailed, I'm also surprised by the lack of vibrancy in the colors, as it all looks a little drab. This is a stark contrast from say the Xiaomi note 10 from 2019 indoor photos are always a bit tricky as indoor light is often not quite as reliable for great photos as natural outdoor light. However, I'm pleased to see a good level of sharpness in this photo alongside some vibrancy in the colors moving on to zoom. Now- and this is the natural unsuited photo here of a nice church here in London, the sharpness and clarity in this photo is actually pretty impressive, and we will see how the quality holds up as we zoom in for two times soon. We can see a reasonably sharp photo still.

That will be absolutely fine for social media use, for example, but if you were to really observe you can definitely see a bit of noise and grain settling in for times five soon you can tell this. Camera doesn't have a dedicated telephoto lens, and it's a digital suit, as the quality has taken a big hit as strong grain and noise has settled in and that's just further exasperated on eight times soon. As you can see here, you can start picking out all the individual pixels we're going to move on to wired now, and here is the non-ultra wide version again, I'm quite disappointed with the lack of vibrancy in the colors, but the photo details quite sharp, at least when we compare that to the ultra white. The color palette of the photo is pretty consistent with the non-ultra wide version. However, you can see there's a clear drop in sharpness and the HDR performance just observe the washed out sky for evidence of that, let's test the selfie on the front facing camera.

Now and to be honest, this is quite an impressive selfie, as you can see, individual blemishes on my skin and the sharpness of the beard and the eyebrow hairs are very impressive. It also doesn't do that annoying beauty mode, skin smoothening effect that a lot of Chinese phones do. This camera setup has a dedicated depth camera to help with portrait shots, and you can see it's worth as the blur effect around. The statue is strong with no overlap on a statue in the foreground. Edge detection on this is very good and can help you achieve some really artistic pictures.

Night pictures now and let's start with the version without night mode turned on, you can see, we have a quite messy incredibly dull and noisy photo here, notice, the noise in the sky and the lack of the sharpness in the trees in the distance. When we put night mode on, however, there's a drastic improvement, everything has become considerably more well lit. The noise in the sky is completely gone and the sharpness in the trees is much improved. It's still not perfect notice. A bit of blur around the fan on the right, but that aside, this is a good night mode shot.

Okay, so time to move on to video first thing to notice is the light pulsing of the sky, which shows that the camera is struggling with a bit of overexposure on the positive side, the stabilization is very good. We have a nice, steady motion here and the cars on the road in the foreground have a nice, sharp and detailed quality about them. Let's see how the video on the front facing camera fares. Unfortunately, the overexposure is even worse here and the stabilization has dropped off considerably. We have a very shaky footage here: the sharpness and the detail.

Otherwise, is relatively okay. Okay, so there you have it there's the review done for the Xiaomi me 10 s. My summary is that in the larger range of Xiaomi flashes out there, this doesn't particularly match the quality of what else is out. In particular, the 11 series and the note 10 series from 2019. It does do some things well, such as take decent photos when lighting conditions are good both indoors and out.

It has an impressive night mode and portrait mode, and it can take some very decent, stable and sharp videos on the main sensor. The front facing camera can take some great selfies as well. On the bad side, the ultra-wide lens and zoom capability is relatively poor. It struggles with over exposure and poor HDR performance. The low light capability is very bad without using light mode, and the stabilization on the front facing camera is very bad.

There's also just a lack of vibrancy and punch in general, with the colors, all in all, it's a decent performing camera and for the average point-and-click user, I'm sure they'll be satisfied, but anyone who is used to using some of the best camera phones out there will probably be disappointed and that's it.
