Why I Switched to the Google Pixel 3 from the iPhone X By Android Police

A few weeks ago, I left my glass and steel iPhone 10 and switched to the all new Google Pixel three. Why? Let me tell you about that. The biggest motivating factor for this change was that I was getting quite bored with iOS the same unchangeable grid of big fat icons. This look that every single iPhone has was getting to me being unable to set default. Apps for handling various actions was quite a pain as well. Well, for example, opening a YouTube link inside of Twitter is a three-step process.

First, you click on the link. Then you have to reopen the link in Safari instead of Twitter's little web browser. Finally, you can pull down on the page and click the open in the YouTube app button, and you are at last presented with the desired outcome. It's ridiculous. The situation for smart assistance is woeful on iOS ? Siri is a pile of hot garbage, and the Google Assistant is so incredibly restricted on Apple's platform, that's not even worth using granted.

These aren't deal-breakers for me as far as iOS goes as a whole, but they are kind of annoying. Basically, I just wanted to shake things up with my smartphone situation and since I was going to be making videos about the pixel free for Android police anyway, I thought I might as well switch to the phone and see how I like it and now, having been a little over two weeks with the device. I have some thoughts on it. My favorite feature, as is most people's, highlight as well of the pixel 3 is the camera. This thing is amazing.

The way it is able to bring out detail in tricky lighting conditions from high contrast, broad daylight environments to extremely low light situations is awesome. A stabilization is pretty nifty as well for both photo and video I shot. This photo out of a moving car zoomed in to over 60%, yet it still looks quite sharp. In my opinion, my favorite camera feature, however, is the night sight I made a video about this on this channel a little while ago on how to install it on your pixel, regardless of which one you have in half, but I am still blown away by how awesome it is. There are very few phones that can get this amount of incredible detail in such dark conditions.

My second favorite feature is the customization being able to install things like Nova, Launcher or various widgets is fabulous I'm really enjoying this icon pack Moxie by Max patches, it's refreshing by the way, we're working on a making it mine for the pixel three so expect that here on the channel sometime soon setting default apps. Is that one feature I'd love to see happen someday on iOS, but for now Android certainly takes a cake in that department. Tapping on a YouTube link in any app immediately opens the actual YouTube app just as God intended and emails opened in the Gmail app. The way I want them to. Finally, the tight integration with Google's products and services is super, convenient sure I used Google Apps on iOS, but they weren't quite the same.

They were clunky and slow with weird UI quirks and behaviors. The Gmail app, for instance, uses the hamburger overflow menu style, but since the majority of Iowa's apps use a rightward swipe to go back, I'd be constantly triggering the overflow menu when I was just trying to get back to my Inbox. Also, another gripe I had was that Google Photos backups only work when the app is open on iOS due to platform restrictions. Now with a pixel 3, all my photos and videos are backed up pretty much all the time and finally, the Google Assistant is always ready for me just to squeeze away since I'm, obviously not going to just use my air pods I'm quite happy to have gotten my hands on the new force be eSport force.
