A portion of this video was sponsored by anchor. Hey guys, welcome back mtg here, so something happened and yeah. This is not like my original, like my normal opening statement to the video, but yeah something happened, and I should probably explain then again the title says it but yeah I switched from the OnePlus 8t to the iPhone 12 mini as my main device. It was honestly a tough choice, but I want to thank apple for making my decision easier with the release of the iPhone 12 series. There are three main key points that I'm going to touch base on. So let's dive right in now, I'm not here to bash on android or to hate on them, because, if you've been subscribed to the channel, you'll know that I've been rocking android devices as my main driver for the longest time.
Oh, and if you aren't subscribed, I'd really appreciate if you can smash that subscribe button, give the video a thumbs up and turn on the bell notifications, as it does help out the YouTube algorithm a lot and will push my content out to more people, and so we can get to our next goal of 10 000 subscribers anyway. Finally, let's dive right in if there's something that I couldn't find in the android world, that I've been wanting for such a long time, that is a technological ecosystem, an ecosystem all right. Every single device is going to work seamlessly together, listen to each other work with each other. That's what I've been wanting, and the Apple ecosystem is very encompassing, as john retainer says, in his video of why YouTubers use two phones, and he's right. You love it when the ecosystem is there right in front of you and when it works seamlessly, but when it's not there, you quickly begin to miss all of his features.
There are some features of the ecosystem that I personally appreciate, and many others do too, like airdrop with my MacBook and yes imessage2. Many of my peers use an iPhone, so just having one too also ease the communication. Experience airdrop has also become super useful for me, especially for the channel. I typically edit my photos and thumbnails with my iPhone and later send it to my MacBook using my OnePlus 8t. I would have to plug in my phone and copy and paste the image which isn't hard like.
It really isn't like this, like a first world problem like complaining about this, but it just takes an extra minute or two with airdrop. It saves that extra minute and in the end, that does kind of add up forget the time it's just super convenient to click send to the MacBook. So when I open my MacBook, I know that the image will be there. This is the anchor NATO. It looks like the original apple 5 watt charger, but guess what it charges three times faster than that original apple, 5, watt charger that you used to get in the box.
That's nearly 50 in about half an hour and don't forget it's super compact and portable too, oh and best of all for those of you who bought the new iPhone, 12 or any other new iPhone, because the charger doesn't come in the box, then the anchor NATO is a must, and this is a power port 3 chargers. This 60 watt, 2 port wall chargers is super-duper compact, and it's especially useful for devices like your laptop and in my case my MacBook Pro. If it's anything, charging anchor is definitely the way to go while we're on the topic of ecosystem. Let's talk about what drives the iPhone 12 mini to work so seamlessly in the Apple ecosystem. It's iOS 14.
Of course, what has kept me away from iOS for all these years was customizability, and we're. Finally, getting that in iOS 14 with the introduction of widgets and themes. I can now customize my iPhone specifically to my liking, whereas before I was only able to change the wallpaper of the phone on my android devices, I'm always changing themes and adding widgets here and there. So this addition to iOS 14 was personally big news for me: we're seeing 120 hertz on more and more android devices, but sadly apple yeah. It didn't add that to the iPhone 12 series- and I understand why, with 5g and 120hz, the battery life would be a nightmare, especially if you had both of those on the 12 mini and, if I'm honest, I don't really miss 120 hertz when I'm using the 12 mini, because iOS 14 makes the experience just as smooth there's one thing I really love about iPhones, and that is they tend to receive four to five years of software updates.
This really pushes users to hold on to their phones even longer, and since it's apple's own chipset, its own product, its own software, they have the advantage, and they can even optimize their newer software for older devices. You look at it nowadays, and people are holding on to their phone longer than ever, with android devices costing well over a thousand dollars, but not being guaranteed. At least three years of software updates is a shame, because Apple's iPhone SC, which costs 3.99 is expected to receive four to five years of software updates, that's apple for you. Another perk is that most developers tend to release their apps first on iOS, as well as updates to them. The gap between iOS, though and android, continues to shrink and iOS.14 was just that update that gave me the move to switch with a seamless ecosystem and a fluid operating system comes the hardware itself and the 12 mini is a beautifully constructed piece of tech that consistently sparks my interest with its more edged out design reminiscent of the iPhone 4 it screams premium. The feel of this phone is just amazing: it's an iPhone 12, but in a smaller form factor it's a flagship, but in a smaller form factor it's an iPhone with the latest and greatest that can be used one-handed.
I can easily fit in my pocket. The fact that it fits snug in my hand- and I can reach from one side of that display to the other- is a game changer. For me, I've been so used to having larger phones like it's just a game. Changer, that's what I've been wanting for from apple for such a long time, a redesigned compact flagship, iPhone was rumored for years, and we finally got one, and I'm pretty sure there are a lot of other people who are really happy with the iPhone 12 mini now. Don't get me wrong, I really do enjoy having a larger screen like the OnePlus 8t or something like the iPhone 12 Pro max with a 6.7 inch display. However, I've always missed having a compact device.
That's super easy to carry like when I fit in my pocket doesn't like to stick out like a sore thumb, but also does the same things my larger phone does. There is one thing that kind of bugs me with having a compact phone, and that is the battery life. The 12 mini is nowhere near that of the at, but since I'm inside throughout most of the day, because of what's going on, it doesn't really annoy me too much. The battery life isn't bad and Apple has optimized iOS 14 and the a14 bionic chip to maximize on improving battery life, but it's not like the best feature of the iPhone 12 mini. Overall, though, for me, Apple has nailed it this year with the iPhone 12 mini.
Look, I absolutely love android, and I've been an avid android user. Since my first smartphone, which was now I'm gonna, have to think the Samsung Galaxy s blaze from T-Mobile, and I got that way back in. I believe it was 2012. The customizability and flexibility on android is unreal and there are so many features that android devices include that you can't find on an iPhone. I will be carrying two devices with me: one android device which right now is the OnePlus 8t phenomenal phone, and I have a video of that coming very soon and one iPhone which right now is the iPhone 12 mini.
However, for the time being, my main sim will be sitting in the iPhone 12 mini. It's compact, it's sleek, it's fast, and it's reliable, neither device nor operating system is better than the other. I love both android and iOS, and by carrying both, I can get the best out of both worlds. Anyway, everybody, I hope you guys did enjoy this video if you did be sure to superman that, like button comment down below because with the more interactions we get on, this video not only helps the video and the channel, but also pushes the video out to more viewers and best of all superman that subscribe button until next time, everybody and until next video.
