What up guys Miguel here, if you attack and one of the biggest 2019 smartphone trends, has been pop-up cameras, and in this comparison we have two smartphones that utilize this very feature, albeit one of them, kills two birds with one stone by having the main rear camera, not just pop up, but also flip so yeah. If you guys, haven't already figured with the title in this video, we have the VIVO b-17 Pro versus the Samsung Galaxy II, all right, starting with design for build. Both devices support a glass back in front. Both these devices last max also shared the same Gorilla Glass 6 protection, our V 17 pro is in the crystal sky colorway, while our galaxy a8 II is in phantom black to say that none of these phones look classy nor elegant in their own rights would be a crime. I think both devices are very handsome feats of smartphone engineering, and with that said, let's talk about what I don't like about them. The V 17 pro has a quad camera setup for the rear and that's fine and dandy and all, but because the module is stacked vertically I feel like the placement should be a bit higher, or maybe it should have been horizontal.
My problem is my finger always ends up accidentally touching the bottom portion of the quad camera setup, and it got me really conscious when taking photo samples. I always found myself having to make sure the rear cameras were smudged free, the galaxy a8 II. On the other hand, I mean I get what they were trying to accomplish here, having the triple camera set up on the rear, just flip, so it doubles as the front-facing camera. It's not something too new. We've seen a similar proof of concept from opals 2013 and one- and that's not really.
My problem here, Samsung even accidentally fixed their very high side, button placement problem, and it's because they couldn't place it there to begin with those parts of the sides retract off with the flippy camera. My problem is the discomforting noise. The motor is made. It really makes the phone mentally feel more fragile than it is, and I say that, because I've dropped this phone already so yeah four buttons and ports starting up top, we get a noise. Cancelling mic for speakerphone on both devices.
Also found here is the V 17 pros, 3.5 millimeter, audio jack situated on the left side is the 80s volume buttons. The v70 pro gets a dedicated Google Assistant button here on the right are both devices power button and volume rocker for the b-17 pro? Lastly, at the bottom we can find both devices dual SIM card tray noise, cancelling regular calls, single dammit firing, speaker and USB type-c ports. It's also worth mentioning that the b-17 pro gets a dedicated micros card slot, while the AAT doesn't and the chesty headphone jack. The Galaxy AAT is also a taller and much heavier phone, so do expect a bulge in your pockets overall for design I'm, giving it to the V 17 pro for keeping the headphone jack alive and better build for display the V 17 pro utilizes, a six-point 54 inches, full HD Plus Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2400 by 1080, the galaxy a8 II gets a bigger six point: seven-inch full HD, plus Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 by 1080 as well. Both these devices have perfect panels for media consumption, and they also get that 20 by 9 aspect ratio, so do expect a slightly larger crop when utilizing the full screen for display protection.
Just like its back, the V 17 pro gets Gorilla Glass 6, while the galaxy a8 II gets Gorilla Glass 3 both displays produce a good amount of contrast. The blacks and vibrant colors overall viewing under direct sunlight is no sweat for both these panels, though, I will be giving it to the V 17 pro for the extra display protection, the audio quality from those single downward firing. Speakers they're, actually both pretty good for single speakers, but the V 17 pro has a better overall sound stage, gaining noticeably a bit more bass compared to the 88 hearing that does suck for the AAT and the worst part is. It doesn't even have a headphone jack, which the V 17 Pro has so sorry, Samsung checking out performance now for Hardware under the hood of the v70 pro is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset, with an Arena 612 GPU, the galaxy a8 II utilizes, a Snapdragon 730, coupled with an Arena 618 GPU for RAM and storage configurations. Both these devices support eight gigs of RAM and 128 gigs of internal storage.
Again, like I mentioned earlier, the AAT doesn't get support for expandable storage, while the b-17 pro does of up to 256 gigs. For software, both devices get Android 9pi out of the box, with both manufacturers skin. On top that's fun, touch 9.14 VIVO and one UI for Samsung. Now fun touch really isn't our favorite skin here in the office. What we do like about it is that system-wide, dark mode and overall it does have a pleasant aesthetic, but it can feel a little like an iOS copycat, especially with the drop-down menu, be a lower left swipe up instead, either way, if you really have a problem with it, there's always apps, like Nova Launcher, to remedy that problem.
One UI. On the other hand, it's a little easier to manage, as it doesn't stray too far from the Android essentials I, for one, do like the interface very much, but I am aware it isn't perfect, as it does have a notification bug to name a few either way. Software, in my opinion, is just as subjective as design. So before you start typing about me being biased again, please remember. I said this: for those of you interested in benchmarks having them flash on screen all right overall for performance are finally giving it to the galaxy 880 in this comparison for its better benchmark scores.
Of course, I think all of us can agree that VIVO kind of slipped up with the chipset behind the v70 throw, but personally, as long as the phone doesn't lag on me in day-to-day use, I couldn't care less about numbers check out them batteries. The piece of antique Pro is powered by a four thousand one hundred million power cell, while the galaxy a8 II gets a three thousand seven hundred million power one. Both these devices get fast charging support. That's 18 watt, fast charging for the VIVO and 25 watts for the a8. In her standard video loop test, which involves the phone's display and volume set to 50% airplane mode, turned on and headphones plugged in the b-17 pro got a total of 22 hours and 19 minutes of playback, while the galaxy a8 II totaled at 15 hours and 10 minutes so for battery, we obviously have to give it to the b-17 pro for its better score.
In terms of biometric security, we don't get face unlock on either device. So, if that's an essential feature for you, you might want to look somewhere else. What we do get is, of course, a fingerprint scanner, both devices utilize optical and display ones, the galaxy a8 II and pretty much most of the galaxy. A series devices we've reviewed on this channel. Then I get our best remarks in terms of recognition or unlocking speed, which is why I'm happy to announce that the ATS fingerprint scanner has gotten better through a software update.
Nonetheless, the V 17 pro scanners is still faster by a few milliseconds. Something you'll only notice, with both devices in hand, but I feel I must say that both scanners still aren't as fast to recognize, compared to a perfect classic fingerprint scanner, but anyway, before they die Press even more security goes to the V 17 Pro because speed check out the cameras. Now the V 17 Pro utilizes, a quad camera set up at the rear, composed of a forty, eight megapixel main, an 8 megapixel ultra-wide, a 2 megapixel macro and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. The galaxy a8 II features a rotating triple camera setup, composed of a forty-eight megapixel main shooter and 8 megapixel ultra-wide and a 3d time-of-flight camera on the front facing side of things in the V 17 pros pop up module, resize a 32 megapixel main and an 8 megapixel ultra, while the galaxy AAD obviously features the same setup as the rear. Now, before checking out some photo samples, quick disclaimer, to keep things fair, we won't be using any Lens's.
The v17 pro has over the a8. Alright, let's begin generally, the b-17 proceeds prefer a green tint, while the AAT likes it a bit more pink. The b-17 pros post-processing also likes to sharpen a bit more than AAT when it comes to both devices. Ultra-wide quality can noticeably differ from the main sensors, thus making their preferred tints. Even more apparent dynamic range is pretty much on par between these devices.
Color accuracy go to the AAT. The v73 Pro likes to up the contrast, a bit more making the image appear more dramatic. The visa making Pro also appears to have a warmer white balance at times, while the AAT likes it cool. The AAT also tends to blow out highlights more compared to the b-17 pro, but HDR is better on the 80 for portrait mode. Something I found we're on the v70 pro.
Was you go to the camera app and start to the default photo mode, and when you switch to portrait mode, you expect hey I'm supposed to get that very background going on right? That isn't the case with a b-17 Pro or maybe even VIVO stock camera app in general. After selecting portrait mode, you have to select the both option on the bottom right. You also get beauty mode here to fiddle with what I found. Weird was the fact that hey you can do this on the default photo mode too, and the only difference is you don't get access to the beauty options, so I'm a bit confused, Bebop anyways for portrait mode subject: background separation is better on the galaxy. An 80, but I do prefer the both from the piece of intro for portrait.
Selfie is basically the same comments as rear portraits again: I prefer D both on the b-17 pro but subject and separation isn't as good on the AAT I mean just look at this one of RL. The v7 t pro flared out his ears for normal selfies, same comments as the main sensors, the V 17 protons to sharpen more than the AAT and colors appear more accurate for the lab there as well. Lastly, we have night mode. Both these night modes aren't p30 pearl quality, but they do work. Photos taken in the default photo mode always appear noisy for the b-17 Pro.
The AAT has that Samsung noise reduction, so images look more muddy. Getting noisy overall I prefer the colors from the AAT, but I must say that the v70 pro's night mode is superior in terms of processing so for cameras going by the parameters we set in place. It's going to be a high okay. Before we conclude this comparison. Let's talk about the VIVO b-17 Pro is priced at 20 1999 pesos for the Samsung Galaxy 80 retails for thirty-four thousand nine hundred.
Ninety well, clearly the b-17 pro one. This comparison, it has more camera features: expandable, storage, a 3.5, millimeter, audio jack and better onboard sound quality. The galaxy a8 II kind of just has the better performance numbers and I guess one UI, but even then, if you were sold just because of one UI I think you'd be better off getting a cheaper Samsung device, like maybe be a 50s, so there you have it guys the VIVO V 17 pro coming out on top.
