The TCL 10 5G UW Review - So Much For Under $400 By English Dan Reviews

What's up guys, English Dan back with another video. So what if I told you, you can get a phone on Verizon that has 5g capability. Has the snapdragon 765 processors has six gigs of ram? Has a six and a half inch punch hole display has a really decent camera. Here you tell me I was stupid. All right welcome back guys. This is a big box.

This is a big box, so the guys over at TCL sent this out to me a couple of weeks ago. A lot of people have already released their videos on this. I held back personally because I wanted to- and this is for me a special device, because at the price point this is and what it offers. I wanted to make sure that I'm telling you everything that I've used is as comprehensive as possible. Furthermore, I want you to know that what I like and what I don't like about this device- and I can feel I can do that.

However, I've been using this as a daily driver over the last two weeks on Verizon's network not had any problem with network or anything like Verizon works. Great around here, but this is the tcl10 5g UW ultra-wideband, on a phone this what anyway, so let's crack this box open? I say guys at TCL sent this out to me, and it comes in this. Well, it's already off now, but power of 5g for everybody. You see the design on the actual box here, the way it's uh. This is what it looks like on the back of the phone, so the power of 5g for everybody, we're gonna, have to put this stuff on the floor.

I think out of the way for now, because it's such a big box. So first thing you see when you come to opening this big box from TCL is the box for the phone we're going to put that to one side at the moment, and then they sent us some other goodies. This is not what comes with your own devices if you buy them in the store. This is a media pack came with a preserve, Presidio, a suspect case. I can't say that word all right make fun of me all you want.

I can never say it but comes with the case for the fall. We also got a TCL cleaning cloth. These are great for your glasses. Let me tell you TCL guys these work great for my goggles and then because this is the norm. Now we have a TCL face mask, and I'm actually quite happy for it, because it does actually work quite well better, but it's thick, but not like restrictive, so yeah, thanks, guys TCL face mask, keep us all safe in these bad times.

Hopefully we'll be through it. Soon, though guys with the vaccine and things like that, but anyway, let's not talk about anything like that. We're not into that we're not here for that. We are here for TCL's new bargain cell phone, and it really is a bargain. Now the phone isn't in the box, but I will show you what comes in the box.

So let me uh grab a hold of the phone here, so this is the box. The phone is here, and it has a really nice design on the back. If you can see that 3d glass, it says for this, so you do get a glass back, 5g TCL logo. There has a fingerprint sensor on the back, I'm telling you this is the way to go all these people going with under screen fingerprint sensors. They look great, but they don't work anywhere near as good as these then you've got their triple camera, set up I'll, get more onto the camera shortly, but yeah, let's power, this thing up.

Oh, it's already on. I probably got a ton of messages, but uh there's a screen for you 6.53-inch full HD display. So it's not horrendous whatsoever. Go away. It looks really nice for an lcd, especially at this price point.

You know and it's super responsive all right. It's not a high refresh rate, but you're not going to get high refresh rate and 5g ultra-wide band. That's this size! With these things you know, you've got all these little extras, but this thing is quick. Let me tell you on this side: it's just your sim. On this side.

You've got your volume button. It's a plastic one! That's built into the rail, and then you got your screen on screen off button. If you don't press that it goes straight into the camera, which is a nice feature, double press straight into the camera, so I do enjoy that, but yeah, that's the phone, all right I'll, we'll look deeper into the phone in a second. When you get this, this box is tough. It whoops my butt.

Every time come on, come on, you can do it. So that's just the paper. That's all the plastic, that's wrapped around the device when you get it powered by next vision and then underneath here. This is what you will get. So there's your charging cable, it's a braided cable! So it's not going to get snagged very easily, which is a nice touch again at this price point it's cheap as well.

You know, and then you get your charger there. So just your norms in that part of the box, like I said, the Brady cable, is a nice feature at this price. Normally you get something. That's got a really thin, chintz kind of cable that isn't really worth anything. So, let's have a look in the box here, just flip this open like, so you get your quick reference guide, and you get your limping quick reference guide and then and then you get product safety, warranty, information and income, important communist consumer safety information.

So not a lot in the box. Just paperwork really things that none of us look at and also the sim pins in there. So, let's fold that back up, and we'll put that away. Sorry, if you could hear any background noise there, the wife comes into the kitchen like a elephant in a china shop, so yeah, that's the box um when it comes to the box display greatness, because obviously TCL are great, with the displays 6.5 inch 6.53-inch full HD display. It's got: 2.4 gigahertz, outscore, snapdragon, 765, 48, megapixel camera. You do get 128, gig of storage with 6 gigs of ram, and you get a perfect 4 and a half 000 William hour battery, which is fast charge.

So very nice just tells you what you get in the contents. Here you get the smartphone! You get the 5g sim card, sim, ejector tool, fast charging wall, USB power, adapter, USB type, c, cable, and then your quick reference guides, and then it says the appearance of this device may vary from product shots, but it looks exactly the same as what it does on the front of the box. Let's talk about the phone itself, so one thing I do want to talk about straight away at this price point, the thing that normally suffers the most is cameras. It's just common that anything in this price range has an issue with cameras. The cameras get skimped out on not on this all right.

So let me tell you about the cameras. So when it comes to the rear camera you get 48, megapixel high-res camera, you get an 8, megapixel super wide camera, and then you get a 5 megapixel macro camera now macro cameras for me. Normally, I'm like nah they're, normally not very good, but on the TCL phones, the pro and the 10 l. They are actually perfect and take some really, really good. Shot has dual led flash.

It's got auto, focus as, so electronic image stabilization, and it can do 4k 30 frames a second. It also has a 60 megapixel. Selfie camera has LCD flashing. You can do 1080 30 on that. So cameras on this spec wise are actually pretty good, but they are actually very good when you use them, and I'll show you some samples, while I'm talking away when it comes to the actual battery.

On this thing, like I said before, you get a four and a half thousand William hour battery takes around anywhere from 110 minutes.20 minutes two hours around two hours. If it's its totally flat, but it will charge up pretty quick if you're just trying to top it up, didn't actually time it, but it does actually go pretty fast. It's got you're fast charging with it. So the battery in these lasts me over a day. The battery in this is better than what it is in my note: 20 ultra this totally decimates my note 20 ultra when it comes to battery life on this thing battery life, if that's important to you, which is for a lot of people on cell phones, this is going to fill your needs when it comes to battery and when it comes to the charge, and it does use uh fast charging 3.0. So it's the latest and greatest Samsung, don't even put that on the phones.

I don't believe I think they leave it on 2.0 for some reason, but there this has got the latest and greatest so like I say it does work on Verizon. This is a Verizon exclusive. I believe you get Bluetooth 5.0 with this USB type-c 3.1, and it also does use an OTG cable, and it can um. It can also reverse-charge via OTG as well. So if you stick that cable in there, and you want to charge something up, it will charge from that.

So it does have a form of reverse charging. It's just not reverse charging on the back of that, however, has one speaker on this device, so it is a mono sound, but it's not bad, and it's plenty loud. Let me tell you it's one of the loudest mono speakers. I've heard it also features a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, so they have retained that which is nice in a device like this. I know a lot of people are getting rid of it, but TCL keeping it.

Furthermore, I love TCL. They do some perfect quality products, the phones, the TCL 10 pro knocked out the power for me earlier this year. The screen on that thing is fantastic, and then they followed that up with the TCL 10 l, which is like so cheap but offers so much TCL. I just and it's the same with the TVs, they're fantastic, I'm hoping that I can get a TV from TCL one day that way I can show off the new consoles, the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5. I do have both of those we'll be having a video on them in the next few days as well, but TCL know how to make good products, I'm just going to say that and the phones are no different pre-loaded software on the.

So obviously you get your camera and your uh contacts. Downloads galleries, smart manager, smart manager, is software for this. That will help boost the speed of your phone. When you get your Google apps, so calculator Clark, chrome, Gmail, google calendar drive, duo, maps play music is not on there, because they've got rid of that, even though it does say as google TV as they call it now, which is where you watch the movies g board YouTube YouTube music, google search, then you do get some Verizon stuff on here. Um.

It comes with Verizon cloud Verizon messages, my Verizon digital, secure and android pay is also in this. So it does come with quite a few apps, but a lot of them are what you're going to need. They have some games on mine as well, but you can get rid of those uninstall them really easily. That's the overall. What you get with this device for 350, but how is it in real life? Well, it is perfect in real life, like I say, is an lcd.

Now one thing you can see there it. It actually looks better on camera than what it does in person um. But one thing I will say is it's not got great viewing angles, but that's pretty much for the power of this price. This is actually a perfect screen at the price point that you're playing that you're paying but um it does have its downfalls and when I say downfalls, it's not anything major, I'm just used to OLED screens nowadays, so maybe I'm an OLED snob, but coming from the TCL 10 pro to this, it's a little jarring at times, but this is still a decent lcd. It does get plenty bright enough.

I mean, if I turn it up to full brightness. You can see there it. It can melt your retina if I left it on like that, let's bring that down. Let me clear all these things here, um so yeah. The screen on this is good.

It's great for watching movies or anything like that. Let me load something up for you on Google TV now their new app will turn make sure the volumes turn down as well. That way we don't get copyright strikes so introducing google TV yeah. How well we're not doing any of that. So, as you can see, it's a really nice display for viewing anything a bit dark in the scene at the moment, but hopefully it'll clear up soon.

Melissa's got a lot of bright punchy, colors in it and uh. This display actually does quite a good job of showing those. Here we go. Let's see, I hate the way. Google.

Does this go away but yeah, as you can see, everything comes through nice, nothing's, overblown or anything like that, and the dark do still actually look pretty black. They don't have that cheap lcd. That makes everything gray. So it is actually a very, very good display, and it is their next vision. They pride themselves on their displays.

The next vision displays from TCL are very good and that's what you would expect from TCL, because their TVs also have some really, really top, not top-notch displays in there they're they're fantastic to look at great for watching movies on and just like the phones. They offer a lot of things. The top guys do, but a price that the top guys don't and that's the thing with TCL. They are perfect, but yeah. The viewing experience on this when it comes to media is very good.

Let me let you listen to the uh speaker now, all right, so I'm back I've got my playlist up. This is what I used to test speakers, and it does get updated. I've not updated this one for a little while I've got three or four playlists for speakers. I also have playlists for headphones as well, so anyway, I'll just go through a couple of these. That way you can get to here.

It's like I say it's one speaker, so you don't get it out the top. You just get out the bottom, but it's loud. So, let's press play, let's make sure volume is turned up, they couldn't get any other way. Does a good job. Let's win this one see the vocals, don't restart either it's a pretty good mono speaker, but yeah.

You get plenty of sound out of this, so if I mean all right, if you're holding it this way all the sound's going to come out on one side, but I don't find that a problem, especially at this price point so yeah. Now, let's talk about the fluidity of the device. It's fast, it really is. It has a 765 in there. That's the same.

That's in the lg velvet, it's also in the pixel 5. , it's in a few phones and if you just watch my lg velvet and pixel 5 videos you'll know that the 765 does not mess around. It doesn't lag whatsoever, it doesn't get hung up or stuck have no issues at all paired with that six gig ram. It makes it just really easy to use it's not frustrating or anything. I opened twitter and my fat fingers missed it, but there you go open twitter and there it is its all there.

Everything's loading in the only thing it doesn't have, like I say, is a higher refresh rate screen. I would like to see maybe in the future, with refresh rate, it's becoming a big thing um. I would like to see maybe a 90 hertz refresh rate screen in the next versions of these phones. Furthermore, I think that would take them up and above again of where they already are, but the screen on this is not bad at all. It's not painful to use, I actually like it, but, as you can see, it flies through everything.

It's not not anything! You know it's. It opens everything up. The gestures work great! It's its a joy to use open up the play store everything's in there loads everything up, quick enough. Overall, I'm really impressed with it. I think it's a fantastic uh camera on here as well, and I will show you some camera samples I'll just take a picture now anyway, I'm just shot here like boy but yeah I mean the camera quality on.

It is pretty good. I'm shocked at how good the camera is on this thing. Um, let's take another one of my fat head so well I mean it gets plenty of detail this front camera this punches way. Above anything else, I've used in this price range as far as the camera. It just does a good job.

Some portrait pictures there a little dark, but you can always lighten that up, but the details are there still so nighttime dark photography? I mean it does a perfect job. The details are still there. You can see in the ground sorry, but it catches all the highlights, the red of the trees, because it's the fall here, the ground. Again I mean this is nighttime. It's capturing all the details in the cracked asphalt you see it does a really, really good job at low light.

A lot of expensive phones don't do a job like this. On low light, I mean you can see all the leaves there. They just look good everything looks good on it, so I'm very, very impressed with this device. I think its value for money to say the least. I mean here's a is a food truck.

This is my office where I work, but the details in the food truck are all there. Even though it's low light, you can still see all the branches in the trees and the leaves on the ground. The lighting nothing's blown out nothing's missing. All the details are there. This is the macro camera and that's the fingerprint sensor on a pixel 5, so it does a pretty decent job at that as well retains details.

If I get over to the camera edge, I mean it's not bad at all. You can even see the speck of white dust on there. That's actually the Pixel 4a, sorry about that, but uh yeah, I'm very impressed with the camera. That's my son, and this is low light in the living room. I only had like one lamp on in the TV did a pretty good job with that we kept all the details there, his hair, you can see all the strands and things are it's a just, a very good camera.

Here's portrait mode as well cutouts really well on this blur is nice as well, very detailed you're, getting a lot for your money when it comes to this device. It takes good pictures of animals too. That's my little ROG Annie she's 14. yeah, she's getting on, but you would never know but yeah. It does a really, really good job.

So super impressed with the camera on this make sure what you've just seen there is a mixture of the rear and the facing camera front-facing camera, but it does do a fantastic job. You would not be disappointed with this now. My overall opinion on this. My overall opinion is this: is an awesome phone there's, not a lot else that you can go out and buy that has 5g ultra-wide band. Have such a large screen a decent sounding speaker really capable cameras, stockist software, it's just great! You can connect four speakers up to the one up to this thing at once with Bluetooth, so it pairs up to multiple devices.

I wish I had four speakers lying around because I'd set them up on this, and I'd blast them out, but fortunately I don't right now, because I'm in the middle of redoing my studio. Hence, a lot of the videos, are top down right now, it's just an perfect device, something that I would recommend anyone to buy. It also does support up to a 256 gigabyte SD card as well. So if you're worried that the 128 isn't enough, then no problem does come with android 10. They do say it's going to get upgraded to android 11, so yeah, not bad 2.5 d front glass back is 3d glass, just everything's great on it. I uh.

I absolutely love it at this price point you're not going to find anything better than the TCL 10 5g UW you're, just not not with all the extras on all right. You got the pixel 4, but it's a much smaller phone doesn't have 5g. Has the camera has a slower processor, though so you've just got to figure out what you would like on it. You can also screencast with this as well: it'll screencast to android, TVs and obviously t-cell TVs. You can do all that with it too, but yeah.

I love this. I think it's fantastic, oh and another thing you can do with this, which I failed to mention. Furthermore, I think this is good, so you can use facial ID as well from the front-facing camera, which we know is not as secure, but it still works very fast, but you can also use the fingerprint sensor, but you also have options for the fingerprint sensor on this device. So it's not just a fingerprint sensor, so you can clear all your notifications by double click. Double touching the fingerprint sensor, you can take a photo or start a video.

By touching the sensor, you can go back to the home screen while the long press of the fingerprint sensor. You can even pick up a call, just touch the fingerprint sensor, and it's on it's there ready for your call. You don't have to mess around with the screen, and you can slide down on the, and it'll pull down the notification, shade, perfect use of the fingerprint sensor and something I've not seen before. I've seen the pull down. We've all seen that, where you swipe down, and it'll pull down but to be able to answer phone calls or take photographs or go back to the home screen is just a really great software edition.

I'm just going back to the battery real quick. I was saying before that um it does have fast charge, and it does have fast charge. Don't get me wrong! It does take a couple of hours to go from zero to hero all the way full, but you can get your battery up to 50 in just under 40 minutes, which is pretty good for a four and a half thousand William hour battery. So overall the TCL 10 5g UW for me knocks out the park. I think this is a great device if you're looking at getting a phone for somebody younger in your house or something like that, and you don't want to break the bank.

This is the phone for you if you're looking for a phone, and you don't want to spend a thousand dollars. This is the phone for you. If you're just looking for a phone, and you're, not you know you don't care whether it's apple this that google Samsung you just want a phone, that's reliable with a decent camera. Good, sound, good screen. Large sized gives you 5g.
