T-Mobile 5G Speed Tests and Real World Testing!

Hey everyone Tim Schofield here and today we will be testing out T-Mobile's 5g network throughout my hometown of Chicago. I have to give a big shout out to T-Mobile for sponsoring this video and sending over this brand-new galaxy s21 plus to test out their 5g network, I'm actually a T-Mobile customer. So I've been able to take full advantage of T-Mobile's fast 5g network, and not only is it fast but T-Mobile's 5g covers 8 300 cities and towns across all 50 states, and it even works well inside we'll talk more about that later. We're going to be spending the day in Chicago doing some shopping, and I'll be meeting a friend for lunch, but first things. First, we will be doing some real world testing, but let's see the type of speeds that we get on T-Mobile 5g, so running our speed test. Let's go ahead and hit go, and you'll see in the upper right-hand corner.

I do have 5g on T-Mobile and whoa. That is quick. Look at that pushing over 400 megabits, a second download that is, that is really fast and actually pretty important. Let's go ahead and take a look at what their upload speeds are: wow that almost hit 500 megabits, a second download speeds and look at this. We are almost at 60 59 megabits, a second upload, which is also very important with different things.

So these speeds are pretty excellent. Now this phone, I'm using, is the new Samsung Galaxy s, 21 plus, and this phone has a 120 hertz display. So everything looks smooth. It has a triple camera system that can zoom up to 30 times and, of course it has T-Mobile's 5g on it. So not only is T-Mobile a flagship network, but they also have the flagship phones to run on their network.

All right just grab some coffee ready to start the day. Now, T-Mobile's coverage reaches more people in more places than anyone else and don't forget T-Mobile just merged with sprint, making their network even larger. Now, for an example we're out here in Chicago, and I have a phone on Verizon and a phone on T-Mobile, let's take a look at the service and taking a look at the top of the phone you'll see the T-Mobile phone has 5g and looking at the Verizon phone, it is still on 4g. Now as a real world example, I have one of my video files created that I want to download and let's take a look at how fast it is on T-Mobile's, 5g and after starting the download look at how quick that actually is and keep in mind. This is a 3.3 gigabyte file. Take a look at how fast that percentage is going up.

It's time to do some shopping at the T-Mobile signature store, I'm going to buy some headphones, and you just have to take a look at this speed test that I ran. It really shows the true potential of T-Mobile's 5g network check out those speeds over 1.3 gigabits per second download speeds and then, when it switches over to upload speeds, it's over 55 megabits per second. Both speeds are actually faster than my home internet. All right so just picked up some headphones. Now we are going to use T-Mobile's 5g to download an album before we head outside all right, so we're downloading 50 songs and oh my gosh look at how fast that actually was that was instant to download 50 songs, and we're good to go.

We could start listening to music on our new headphones. So now I'm heading to lunch, and I'm going to meet up with a friend, of course, for some deep dish, pizza, and we are going to actually give him a video call and make sure he's on time he's always late. So we will use T-Mobile's 5g and make a video call hey. Uh. Are you uh almost at the restaurant, I'm just about here? Yeah, sorry, dude, I'm about 15 minutes out! I'm awesome all right! All right and I'd expect nothing.

Nothing! Less! Uh I'll see you soon with T-Mobile's extended range.5G speeds are up to two times faster than its 4g LTE. So I can have these video chats with even less lag. While I wait for my friend, I'm going to play an online multiplayer game on T-Mobile's 5g and since there's less lag than their 4g, gaming can get a boost. So I had a great day in Chicago and, like I said, T-Mobile's coverage covers more people in more places than anyone else. So I figured we might as well do some testing outside Chicago, so we're in the city of Melrose Park, and it looks like I do- have T-Mobile 5g.

Let's do some testing and I did just check and Verizon does not have 5g here and let's go ahead and run a speed test on T-Mobile's 5g network see what kind of speeds we are working with again whoa there we go so outside the city of Chicago. You could tell you are getting look at that. It's pushing 270 megabits per second download speed, 280. So a perfect speed test, it's great to see that outside the big city of Chicago you can still get really fast.5G speeds all right for our next stop. I just drove to a city called Westmont, and it looks like I have 5g on both T-Mobile and Verizon.

Let's compare all right so, as you can tell, I have 5g on both of the mt-mobile on the right Verizon on the left. Let's go ahead and run a speed test comparison of both of these 5g networks and look at that. So download speeds are over 400 megabits per second on T-Mobile and looks like it's not even getting to 150 on Verizon's 5g and taking a look at upload speed st-mobile almost at 70. Can we hit 70 it did it's a little over 70 and looks like 33.1 on Verizon, so out here uh, we are getting faster speeds on T-Mobile's 5g? Now the last location, we're checking out is Addison, which is great because my and uncle live here, so I'm planning to visit them and by the looks of it both Verizon and T-Mobile have 5g. Let's do one more comparison and for our final side-by-side comparison, Verizon on the left, T-Mobile on the right.

Let's take a look at these 5g download speeds, and it looks like T-Mobile is beating Verizon's 5g. Yet again, and also keep in mind, we are outside running. These tests also ran one more test on T-Mobile you'll see up at the top. We got 219 megabits per second download, but I also want to make a note that it is nice to see how consistent the upload speeds have been on T-Mobile 5g, because I upload a lot of content with other carriers. You have to pick one or the other between speed and coverage.

Some may have the 5g speeds you need, but lack the coverage and with T-Mobile you get both anyways. I hope you enjoyed the video. I had a lot of fun, making it a lot more content coming soon be sure to subscribe, be sure to give this video a thumbs up as well as always thanks for watching.
