What's going on guys, my name is Wade with tech daily and in this video we're going to be doing a speed test comparison between a bunch of Samsung's, a series phones, the 11, the 31, the 51 and the 71. If you're, considering a budget or mid-range device in 2020, you've probably considered any one of these four phones they're all great options, but they come in at different price points, with different specs and features and depending on your usage and needs, you might be able to either save some money and get a cheaper, less powerful, a-series phone or, if you want the best of the best spear acquired to get a more powerful device at a higher cost. In this video I hope to offer a more definitive, side-by-side, speed and performance test for these phones. So you can get an idea of how they launch in load apps and the kinds of performance boosts. You can expect going with a more expensive device. There's obviously a lot to talk about here, so I won't waste too much time, but I want to go over each device just for a second.
So we know what we're working with the Samsung Galaxy an 11 is the cheapest phone I'll use for this video, though technically not the cheapest 20:20 a series device, but it comes in at about a hundred and fifty bucks unlocked right now from places like Amazon. The 31 is technically the next step up right now, at least until we see the 21, and this phone I personally think is the best balance of performance and value about two hundred and fifty bucks unlocked the 51 is the most popular smartphone of the year right now in case you didn't know, and it retails for about two hundred and seventy-five dollars unlocked. And finally, we have the 71 currently the best and most expensive 20/20 a series phone coming in at about three hundred and sixty-five dollars unlocked. So those are the phones and their price points. Obviously, it's going to depend on where you're from how you buy these phones and when you're, watching this video, of course, but if you guys are interested in doing some comparison, shopping of your own or maybe want to buy one of these phones for yourself, I will have links down below in the video description to where you can get these phones at their cheapest.
Current prices so be sure to check down there. So you don't miss out on any good deals for the purposes of this video each one of these phones was charged up to 100% in battery, and they've all been set up and synced the same way. With the same apps loaded and installed. You may see a couple small differences with the default Samsung apps only because some phones have different features, but for all intents and purposes everything is nearly identical across every device. Just so that I could make the test as fair and as realistic as possible, and no apps have been preloaded or running.
In the background, everything will be open from a fresh launch. First things. First, let's go through the Geek bench in an tutu, benchmark scores and while these are running, I want to go over the specs of these phones. So you know what we have. The 11 is powered by the Snapdragon 450 chipset, an adrenal 506 GPU, 2, gigabytes of RAM, 32, gigabytes of storage and a four thousand William battery with a 720p LCD the 31 packed the MediaTek hello, p 65 processors and Mali g52 GPU.
My a 31 is actually the higher-end version with six sticks of RAM 128, gigs of internal storage, a 5000 William battery and a 1080p Super AMOLED screen the 51 offers Samsung's own Enos 96 11 chipsets and Molly G 72 GPU. My a 51 is the 4 gig of RAM model with 64 gigabytes of storage, a 4000 William battery and a 1080p Super AMOLED screen as well, and finally, the most powerful. A 71 has the Snapdragon 730 chipset inside paired, with the Adrian 618 GPU 6, gigabytes of RAM, 128, gigabytes of storage, a 4500 William battery and the 1080p Super AMOLED plus display. So now that you know all the specs, you can piece together. These scores here now, one thing to note: geek bench 5, doesn't seem to be supported on my 11 for some reason.
So that score, you see, is the geek bench for score, which is why it's super inflated and doesn't make a lot of sense. I wanted to at least include it in there, but unfortunately we can't use that to compare really, but everything else is fair game. So the 31 achieved at 348 single core scores and a 1237 multi-core score. The 51 was only slightly better with scores of 348 and 1268, and the 71 was quite a bit better with scores of 544 and 755 moving on over to an tutu. All four of these phones can run this test perfectly fine, which is great, so we can get a more cured comparison and I like running this tests, probably better than Geek bench, because even though it's a little longer, you can see what's going on and what's being tested, which is interesting, and you can almost get a feel for how the phone is doing in real time.
In the end. Here is what we got the combined score on. The eleven was eighty, nine thousand seven hundred forty-six, the thirty-one almost doubles that with a score of one hundred and sixty-one thousand three sixty-seven, the fifty-one jumps up a little higher at 180, two thousand five thirty-one and of course the seventy-one is quite a bit ahead of everyone else, with a combined score of two hundred sixty-four thousand one hundred fifty-five, like I, said already: all these phones have been set up, the same they're all running Android ten and have all been updated to the latest version of Android and one UI that they currently support right now, so let's go ahead and start launching and loading some stuff, and I'll. Give you guys some of my thoughts first off, let's go ahead and just run a quick boot up test. This doesn't really prove too much, but I know some people like to see it and by the way, throughout this test, I tried my best to tap everything as simultaneously as I.
Could it's pretty tough to do with four phones at once, but I gave it my best effort, so I hope. That's ok! With this boot up test. Obviously the a71 is going to power on first followed by the fifty-one, the thirty-one and finally, the eleven nothing astounding here, but all the phones were on and ready to go within just a couple seconds of one another for the fingerprint and face unlock the eleven has a physical rear mounted fingerprint reader, and it's honestly faster than the in display readers of the other phones. All those seem to be about the same and when it came to face unlock all the phones. Have this and again the speeds were about the same.
It mostly came down to consistency, and really each phone got hung up every once in a while and scanning my face. So let's go ahead and load up some apps and tap through the UI now for the most part, when strictly launching and loading default, Android apps and some pre-installed Samsung apps browsing webpages, navigating the phone and even interacting with some other third-party apps. The 31, a 51 and a 71 were pretty close in speed, with the 11, probably being the phone that was most often and most obviously the slowest. The 31 and 851 tended to go back and forth from time and I think having is six gigs of RAM. Only a31 really helps it in some instances overtake the a51 with only four gigabytes of RAM.
So that's something to consider one of the most consistent things about this test. I felt was how the a71 pretty much always came out ahead when it came to app launches and UI interactions, the webpages were hit or myths, just given the Wi-Fi connection in a moment, so it wasn't always first and say getting to amazon. com, but I. Don't really think there were any other instances in particular where it was beat by any of these phones and I. Think, given the price difference and how this phone is positioned in the lineup, I'd certainly expect that the other thing I noticed like I mentioned before is just how much slower the 8-11 seems in comparison.
I guess I wasn't really expecting that much of a fall-off, but with only two gigs of RAM and an even lesser processor. This phone is a bit behind as we move into some other third-party apps like Amazon, eBay, Twitter and Instagram I. Think you can see even more so just how far the 11 lags behind. Now, it's one of those things where, when you actually get into the app and whatever it is you're loading, the 11 performs mostly fine. It's just a matter of having that extra second or two of launch time.
That really shows and like I said it just seems to be significantly further behind in comparison to the other devices where the rest of the phones are just a fraction of a second off of one another. Fortunately, no matter what you end up doing with your phone each one of these a series devices is pretty solid for the most part, tapping and scrolling and scrubbing through each app is fine. All the important stuff works well, and I didn't really see any noticeable performance issues. Aside from the 11 every once in a while having a hiccup as we start to load more and more apps, all in all I think these phones, each do a nice job with the easy, everyday stuff and I, wouldn't necessarily be disappointed with any one of them, but, like I, said, probably a million times already now, the 11 is mainly the phone I to reconsider. If you were interested in it for the price, it probably just makes more sense to make the jump up to be a 31 I think, since the performance difference is so obvious when we move over to gaming.
This is where we start to see a bit more in regard to these phones' performance differences. The first game is asphalt: nine legends one of my personal favorite racing games actually, and for the first time we see the 851 and 831 beat the 71 and getting to the main screen. I'm, not entirely sure what happened here. It may have just been a little blip but kind of interesting, at least to see that still happen. Now, when you're in a game and loading up the next race, for example, the 71 takes the lead right back, you're ready to go quite a few seconds faster than the 851 and both the 51 and a 31 are pretty close.
Well, the a11 is a bit behind now. One of the reasons why I like testing asphalt 9 is because the game sort of plays itself, so you can see in real time side-by-side how these phones are handling the graphics on the far right. The 71 is as smooth as silk as it should be. The fifty-one looks rock solid as well. The 831 I think has a few frame drops and instances of lag, and the a11 definitely has a few more noticeable hiccups in game.
Fortunately, everything is very playable. There's no horrible performance issues, but it's the little things here that I think you'll start to notice. More and more moving on over to real racing you'll see that in game getting to the main screen, the a71 actually reclaims its crown here, which is good, and in this instance the a31 seems to come out ahead of the 51, and this is another good example of perhaps the extra RAM on the 31 being, maybe more valuable than a better processor on the 51, and it's even better. If you can still snag the 31, not a cheaper price. Moving on over to call duty mobile.
This is a game that just generally takes a while to load, but in the end, you might be surprised to find out that it's the 31 coming out ahead of everyone. The 51 is a bit behind in second and the 71. Somehow it got tripped up once again and the 11 now always behind just loading the main screen- and this is just another example where the performance difference in these phones, I think just isn't as clear-cut as maybe people had hoped for, which is pretty surprising. One last load test here with pub G mobile and the 71 redeems itself by easily coming in first place here. This is a time when the a11 really shows up by beating out the 51 which, for some reason how to laugh or issue of its own and really kept it far behind the other phones.
So with all those tests out of the way. Here are my final thoughts. If you want the best of the best, the 71 is probably gonna, be the way to go, I think more than 90% of the time. It's going to be the phone that loads up and launches the fastest, and you're genuinely paying for a better performing phone with the 31 and a 51. Things are a bit tough to decide more RAM on the 31, definitely helped it, but that might also mean more RAM on the 51 could be the better choice.
The 51 is a great phone on its own, but personally I've just come to find the 31 to be the best overall value, a series phone on the market right now and with the 11 yeah, it's not going to be the fastest, but you can still at least do most everything you want and if you need a phone for well under 200 bucks, it's not a bad choice. You just kind of have to keep those expectations in check. So there you go I hope you guys enjoyed this speed test comparison between the 11, the 31 851 and the 71. What do you guys think? Were you surprised by these results?
