Sony Xperia 5 ii Vs Xperia 1 ii - What's the difference?

Welcome to what gear reviews for the Sony, Xperia 5 mark ii versus the Sony, Xperia 1 mark ii preview- and I call it that, because I don't have the phone yet, but this video should be really useful for any of you guys out there who want to know which one of these phones is better for you and at the end of this video after we've reviewed the facts. I want you guys to. Let me know which one of these phones would be better for you, and before we get into all the awesome features on the five mark ii. I've set myself a goal of 500 likes on this video. If you guys could help me crush that, I would really appreciate it and if you want to find your way back for more awesome, Sony, Xperia content make sure you smash that subscribe button and turn on the bell notifications. Anyway, you ready, let's go so Sony, have gone done it again and released a new, more compact specification, stacked, 2020 flagship, and it is the Xperia 5 mark ii, and I guess the question that most people will have is: what are the advantages and disadvantages of the five mark ii over the Sony, Xperia 1 mark ii, so the first most obvious difference is definitely going to be the price at the time of this video, the one mark ii retails at one thousand one hundred pounds here in the UK now on launch the five mark ii is a full 300 pounds cheaper.

So that's a definite win there for the five mark ii. But what have they done to reach that price point? Well, that's what we're about to uncover now but check this out. This should really impress you hereare all the stuff, that's exactly the same on the one mark ii as on the 5 mark ii, so both rock 8 gigabytes of ram with the 2020 flagship from Qualcomm, the snapdragon 865 5g optical chipset, which is fantastic because if you cut off one head, two more shall take its place: hey Lydia! I must say it's a little of a shame. We didn't see the turbocharged 865 plus chipset in the five mark ii, but you know what the 865 is still a heavy hitter, so both phones have the same 4 000 William hour battery with up to 21 watt fast charging capabilities, but Sony do not bundle the 21 watt charger in the box. You'd get an 18 watt charger which will allow you to achieve 50 battery in 30 minutes.

So that's still pretty fast. They both have the same full metal body protected front and back by you guessed it gorilla glass 6. Both have the same ip65 and 68 rating. So water and dust resistance both have dual front-facing stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and one of my favorites, a headphone jack praise. The lord for that, and both the one and five have the 20 frames per second 60 calculations per second continuous shooting, with eye autofocus tracking, which is impressive, and on the software side of things they both have Sony's exclusive cine, ultra creator mode photo pro app cinema pro app, the game, enhancer and adaptive charging that takes care of your battery's longevity and yes, of course, both phones support 5g with sub 6 bandwidths, but not the fastest form of 5g in millimeter wave.

Unfortunately, if you want to get millimeter wave on a Sony, Xperia device you're going to have to wait for the Sony Xperia pro- and I made an entire video about that- you can check that out at the end of this one, if you want I'll link it at the end. Now, let's dive into the design differences of the Sony sphere, 5 mark ii, so of course the 5 mark ii is shorter, it's more narrow, but it's ever so slightly thicker and due to the smaller stature of the five mark ii. Of course, it's going to be lighter by 18 grams to be exact and the corners and edges are curved now, and therefore the device should be more comfortable to hold in the hand compared to the more flat and angular edges of the one mark ii. So here's a question for you: what do you prefer the kind of more rounded edges that we saw on the xz3 or the more flat sort of angular style edge that we have here on the one mark ii? Let me know in the comments below so here's a new addition on the right hand, side of the five mark ii is a new dedicated Google Assistant button and, to be honest with you, I'm not entirely sure why Sony decided to put an extra button on the side. I don't feel like.

I was missing an assistant button here on the one mark ii, but it's there hey. If you can remap it to do something else, maybe it could be useful. I don't know. Let me know what you think about that now. Let's talk about the camera hardware, differences I've seen some reviews where they basically say they've.

Just pulled everything over directly from the one mark ii that isn't entirely true. Sony have actually ditched the 3d timer flight sensor that we see on the one mark ii, just under the mass branding, and what this means for your photography is. You might have a little less depth detail a little less blur in those portraits. So it's not a huge loss, but it is a slight downgrade from the one mark ii but check this out with one hand, Sony have taken something away and with the other they've, given the five mark ii, a unique camera feature- and I believe this is the world's first smartphone to have these 120 frames per second 4k video recording. So for those of you wondering what you might actually use this feature for.

Well, basically, if you shoot 120 frames, you can slow things down, but still keep this really crispy footage without any sort of judders. So it's a great feature there for creators. So here's another new camera feature worth mentioning, and it's not actually to do with the cameras on the 5 mark ii. It's actually the ability to tether the 5 mark ii to a Sony, a7s 3 and use the 5g connection to connect your footage to a ftp server, so essentially you're streaming, all the stuff straight from the camera straight to a computer somewhere where they can import it immediately into an editing, suite and use it straight away. So this is really a great feature for broadcast professionals.

I don't think myself as a YouTuber would ever actually use that feature, but it's there, and it's pretty cool. I wonder if the Sony Xperia 1 mark ii will be able to do it as well. Furthermore, I wouldn't be surprised if it can, and I'm pretty sure this is a feature that Sony announced a while back for the Xperia pro, but it's cool to see it here on the 5 mark ii. Definitely so, of course, naturally the screen is smaller, and it is a significant difference and Sony have scaled back that 4k HDR OLED screen on the one mark ii to a full, HD plus HDR OLED. Here on the 5 mark ii.

It's a compact phone, but it's still a big screen at 6.1 inches. It's around about 0.4 inch smaller on the diagonal than the one mark ii. So naturally it's going to be less pixel dense as well at 449 pixels per inch, which is still impressive, but not as impressive as the 643 pixels per inch on the one mark ii. Also, the color range is slightly lower, as well as 17 million colors compared to the Sony, Xperia 1 mark ii's 1 billion colors. So again with one hand, Sony have taken something away, but with the other they've, given the 5 mark two, something very, very special that you gamers out, there will really appreciate- and that is the 120 hertz refresh rate on the five mark ii, and that is double the refresh rate of the one mark ii.

Now this is cool. Both devices support, Sony's motion, blur production, tech and basically, what that does be emulate a higher refresh rate on the screen. So on Xperia 1 mark 2, it can emulate a 90 hertz panel, but check this out. This is special on the 5 mark 2. It can emulate 240 hertz, and I'm told the way that they achieve this.

On the 5 mark ii is by adding black frames in between each frame sort of smoothing the picture out in the process, so you are going to notice smoother animations and transitions on the home screen, but the real advantage and the real benefit of the screen like this is when it comes to gaming, and so they've, taken the gaming edge that the five mark ii has a little further with these additional features that allow it to stay cool under pressure. So there's a brand-new graphene cooling layer inside the device to protect the battery and keep it cooler for longer and there's a new feature that I really, really like, and it's the HS power control. Basically, heat suppression, tech. Essentially this is a mode that bypasses the battery and allows you to channel the power directly from your power cable, eliminating any battery heating issues. So the only thing that's going to be heating up inside the device is the chipset itself, which means the device is going to be cooler for much longer and eliminating all the battery heating issues that almost every other smartphone has and, of course, when it comes to gaming, you've got that wider field of view.

With the 21x9 aspect ratio, which is a tactical advantage, you will have over pretty much any other mobile gamer, but check this out. They've also got a 240 hertz touch rate sampling on the screen, which means when you touch the screen, it's way more responsive than most other phones. So these are some really awesome. Gaming upgrades here on the five mark ii. So when it comes to gaming and battery cooling features, this is a definite win for the 5 mark ii, but there is one battery feature that they stripped out.

Of course, they give you all of this awesomeness, but they've got to try and keep the price down a bit, and they've stripped out wireless charging and, of course the one mark ii does support wireless charging. So that is a win for the one mark ii, but how important is that to you? Let me know so. Here's the last couple of differences that I think you guys should know about before you make your ultimate decision. The Xperia 1 mark 2 has a Bluetooth 5.1 chip, whereas the 5 mark ii has the older Bluetooth 5.0 now I know that's not a huge difference, but it is the difference. Nonetheless, when it comes to the screen to body ratios, the 5 mark ii is 80.9 percent, which isn't quite as good as the 84 on the one mark ii. Also, when it comes to storage, it seems like the Sony Xperia 5 mark ii will ship as standard with 128 gigabytes, and I have heard they will ship them out with 256, but as standard it will be 128, but it will, however, support a hybrid dual sim tray, which allows plenty of room for aggressive SD expansion and my Sony opera.

One two only allows for a single sim. So here's the deal the Xperia 5 mark ii is smaller. It's cooler when it comes to thermals. It has a faster screen, but a slightly scaled back display in terms of picture quality, colors and pixel density. Also, the cameras are slightly scaled back, but the camera software allows for that 120 frames per second 4k shooting, which is awesome and then on the other hand, the one mark ii has a bigger, more color, accurate and more pixel dense display in the form of that 4k HDR OLED combine that with a better screen to body ratio and wireless charging and the fact that it has Sony's 3d timer flight sensor and a better Bluetooth, 5.1 chip. So there we have it.

Those are the facts and the question is which one is the right Xperia for you make sure you leave that in the comments below.
