Sony Xperia 10 III review: Тhe no-frills phone! By PhoneArena

This is the Sony Xperia 10 mark iii, and it is one tall and sleek phone. It's Sony's answer to an affordable, 5g smartphone for those who want the premium, feel and good performance without the high price tag. So hello, there guys I'm Vic here from phone arena, and I'm going to show you what's cool and not so cool about this particular device. Now, as soon as this phone arrived in my sweaty palms, I was delighted to see it be this narrow and I kind of prefer it. This way you can grip it fully like. Even if you have small hands, which is pretty cool, you still get the reassuring, ip68 and ip65 water resistance and my favorite a sim tray that pops out without a pin.

Also, let's not forget the fact that we still have a micro, SD card slot and a headphone jack. Ah, yes, all of this sounds good, but I can't stop thinking that there has to be some cut corner this year. Around too I mean the back is made of glass and the frame is also metal feels kind of cold and hefty for its size. We, interestingly, get a single front-facing speaker on the bottom and the Google Assistant button below the power button, but bear in mind that this speaker is quite an improvement over the previous generation. This actually sounds pretty nice, but not the best.

There is still good for the price, also in typical Sony fashion. The fingerprint scanner is mounted on the side and I honestly prefer any fingerprint scanner to the under display ones, we're starting to see more and more of, but this one is a bit cumbersome since it's mounted on the side, if you're holding your phone, when, while you know the screen is off and the basically it's locked, you might press the fingerprint sensor accidentally until it locks you out and speaking of accidentally pressing. Something I'd be grateful if you accidentally press the subscribe button. Besides that, though, I kind of find this device to be really well-made, it doesn't scream premium at you, or maybe I should rephrase this. It doesn't scream anything at you at all.

It's sleek and pretty uniformly made. Furthermore, it's understated enjoy how it feels in the hands- and you probably might agree with me, but you should probably keep your expectations in check with my time playing around. Eventually, I did find a place that is a bit more lacking. The Xperia 10 mark iii, much like its previous generation, does not have a high refresh rate display. Your stick is 60 hertz and for the price of around 430 dollars, that's not great! For around the same price.

You can get the galaxy a52 with a high refresh rate display, at least that is offset a bit by the fact that the display here is a rather good OLED panel and a 21 by 9 aspect ratio, making it pretty much quite tall. This is also what defines the Sony smartphone nowadays since they've, stuck with this design for a while. Now one benefit to this sort of tall aspect ratio. The multi-display feature like that. We all know and never actually use too much- is actually pretty useful on these sorts of devices because of the tall aspect ratio, basically you're, seeing more of your top and bottom application, which is pretty cool.

So I moved over to see how this bad boy performs. It comes equipped with a snapdragon 690 which isn't really anything special like you can watch videos or browse the web with it, but some games such as games and impact struggle at medium settings, plus the phone tends to get warm to the touch even at the loading screen. There are also some noticeable delays when opening some apps, such as the camera, but I should also add that this chip is pretty much on point for the money. As a comparison, the Xperia 10 mark iii scored around 585 points on a single core in geek bench 5, while the Samsung Galaxy a52, the 5g model, managed around 657 points. Multi-Core gave a similar advantage to the galaxy with 1983 points for it and around 1 600 points for the Sony, so it's definitely weaker, but not too far behind by the way.

I reckon this chip and the fact that the display is 1080p at 60hz contributes to some amazing battery endurance, and I managed to confirm this guys. The Xperia 10 mark iii gives you around 4500 William hours, which is 25 more than the previous Xperia 10 mark ii, and the lower powered chip with a low refresh rate gave me quite a bit of use time. Do you note that I mainly browsed Reddit watched some YouTube and played around with the camera? There is as you'd expect no wireless charging, but you do get 30 watts of fast charging. If you have such a charger, though, because Sony decided to include a measly 7.5 watt unit, you can expect a 0-15 about an hour and 20 minutes, which is not great, but I suppose, if you charge your device during the night, when you're going to sleep, that's going to be pretty much fine. Otherwise, if you're interested in seeing some test results for the battery yeah in general, the Xperia 10 mark iii lasts around 14 hours and 40 minutes, while browsing the web around 11 hours and 30 minutes, while watching YouTube and 30 minutes less while gaming.

This all means that you're getting amazing curates, which is on par for the money. In comparison, the galaxy a52, which I mentioned a few times earlier, which is also one of Samsung's current endurance monsters, lasts around as much scoring 16 hours while browsing the web eight and a half while watching YouTube and more than nine hours while playing some casual games, then I went ahead to try the cameras to see if I'll feel a bit different there. The main sensor on this bad boy is um, 12 megapixels, and it has decent HDR, and it takes good photos in broad daylight, but it also ends up a bit lacking in lower lit conditions. There is a noticeable color difference in how the ultrawide and regular camera take photos, which I don't appreciate too much. The ultrawide shots come out a bit more lively and saturated, whereas the regular shots.

Look a bit dull. Also, the camera, as mentioned earlier, is a bit slow to take a shot. You might even miss a few due to that, and you might get some blurry ones so bear in mind. Otherwise, you also get a two times optical zoom camera, which is pretty good. It's pretty much the same as the regular camera.

Nothing too special, but it gets the job done. I also found the portrait mode here and while it does decent photos, it's a bit inconsistent and also lowers the image quality drastically. You sometimes get a well cut out object, and sometimes you don't. Additionally, the background blur is a bit all over the place in some scenarios. On the video side, though, you can shoot up to 4k at 30fps, which is pretty nice, but you also don't have optical image stabilization.

You at least have electronic stabilization, but, as you can see, it's not great, it bursts the video and, in general just feels bad, and when you move indoors it gets worse. Strangely, you cannot use the ultra-right camera in 4k. You can only use it at 1080p, so my general opinion here is that the camera isn't really that bad. Although having used quite a lot of devices at this price point and lower I'd, say it's far from the best in its class. If you want to aim for the best, then I'd recommend the galaxy a52.

That surely won't disappoint you in this regard. So then, what do we have here? Is the Sony, Xperia 10 mark iii, the best deal under 500, or is it just a simple device for those who don't really need to do much on their phone? I'm thinking it's the second one. The Xperia is not much different from its predecessor and that's a good and bad thing. The phone is stylish made of premium materials certified for water resistance with a pretty nice OLED display sure it falls short in the display and camera section when compared to other devices in the same price bracket, but at least it has style, and it feels solid in the hand and that's okay, because that's what some people need. I found to check the time watch a video from time to time and maybe just maybe manage a few documents.
