Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G - One Year Later By GetConnected Media

I've been using the Samsung Galaxy z, flip 5g for almost a year now how's the crease look. How durable has the hinge been and how much lint has it picked up stay tuned. This is the second iteration of the Samsung Galaxy z, flip line, and they've made a number of improvements. There are kind of two versions of flip phones out there right now with the folding screens. There's this traditional style here that you might remember from back in the Motorola flip phone days and there's also the ones that give you the extra real estate like the Samsung Galaxy fold and full tube. This one has the screen on front, and it basically opens up to give you a giant screen on the inside great for web browsing great for watching movies.

But it's pretty bulky. That's what uh, I think, really drew me to the uh, the flip phone itself, uh. Overall, it's a very slim design. So it's about the same size roughly as a regular phone that doesn't fold. It's got uh the notch up here for the selfie cam.

It also has the 5g capability and the fingerprint scanner on the side as well, so there were a lot of things that I liked about it. Overall, the big thing, obviously, is the folding screen. It's got a real cool factor and any time that I bring it out when I'm out and about people are always very impressed and want to see more of it. I also like the overall form factor as well, so comparing this to a lot of other phones out on the market and even the iPhones you can see it is a larger screen, but it's taller but skinnier. So that was kind of a feature for me I, like being able to comfortably hold it in one hand.

I like the fact that it had the fingerprint reader on the side, I'm not a big fan of the ones that have it built into the screen. I just don't find them overly accurate. Yet overall it's the flip. I mean how cool is that being able to fold it down into that small size and then just being able to put it in my pocket? It just feels a lot more comfortable when I'm going out, so I did have some concerns when I first picked up this phone and started using it and probably the same as a lot of people having a look at this. How durable is it not only from the screen itself like? What's that crease going to be like, after a few months or even a year and uh? The hinge like how durable is that how much junk and lint is going to get caught in there and the overall case itself? I wasn't going to put an external case on here.

If you've seen some of them, they look a little crazy, and I was all about looking cool. So how is that going to wear over? You know several months and again into the years and finally, the camera. I use my smartphone a lot for taking photos, so you know the camera is important to me. This one has the two 12 megapixel cameras on front one wide one ultra-wide and then a 10 megapixel selfie camera. How well will they do hey we're noticing about half of you watching this right now haven't subscribed to our channel yet do it? I typically carry two phones around with me. Overall, I really enjoy the flip design here, and it's actually very useful for certain things. I watch a lot of videos. You know we're doing videos, I'm always proofing them, or I'm watching other YouTube videos.

You can see right now. I can just basically fold it sit back and relax, whereas other phones obviously either have to have a special stand or have it in near in your hand, I did enjoy uh the fact that this folds up really nice and compact, so this is easy for taking around with me. I appreciated having the little clock on the outside here as well, so I could always check the time at a glance my concerns about the camera uh. For me, it was 50 50. You know for overall taking pictures in you know well-lit conditions.

I think uh they're fantastic. You know you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference between a lot of the other flagship phones out there. What about the durability? Well, I have to be honest. I am super impressed at how well this phone has held up uh the crease itself. You know a lot of people always ask me: can you see the crease? Does the crease bother? You got to be honest.

Now after a few days of using it, I didn't even see the crease anymore. You know a lot of times like even now. You can see I've got kind of a dark black screen here. Furthermore, you know if you're using web pages a lot of times, it'll be a full white screen. So it's really not that noticeable and over using it almost a year.

Now it's fine. It really hasn't changed that much from when I first started using it the hinge, it's been fantastic uh. You know I open and close this a lot just because I like doing it when I am using it, and it still seems to have that uh that firmness to it, it hasn't really loosened up that much. I was really concerned about all the pocket lint. You know.

I keep this thing in my pocket. A lot and they've really made some improvements here. You know I had the galaxy fold, the original one. That thing just seemed to suck up dust and dirt and lint, and I was constantly cleaning it this one here. It's really pretty good.

I might just have to kind of give it a quick brush, but overall that wasn't a problem for me uh and as far as the speed and the battery life, I think it's comparable to most other flagship phones out there. You know I do a lot of web browsing a lot of email typing, and it was just as snappy as uh the day. I got it so not a problem. You know I do use an iPhone. I think I've used an 11 and a 12 over the past year and I would have to say it was just as snappy as the iPhones that I've been uh using.

Would I purchase uh another one of these? It comes down to the price right. You know when this thing came out. It was uh. You know in Canada here over a couple of thousand dollars. That's a lot of coin.

If uh, this particular type of phone was down in the same range as other flagship phones, I would have to say I'd give it a go. I really like the compact size and if they can improve the cameras on it as well, I think that would be a no-brainer for me. So price improve the cameras and I think we've got a winner.
