What's up YouTube: welcome back to another episode of new parenting training. So on the previous episode, I talk about how I end up getting the s21 for a really, really cheap price right now they are having a tray in, so I trade in my s20 for the s21 and get seven hundred dollars off for a retail price of 7.99. For, along with other promotion, I pay less than 94 dollars for my entire price for the phone. So if you want to go check out that particular video and use the promotion and go right ahead, I'll put the video up top, so you can go check it out, so today I just wanted to talk about why the s21 being a new phone with a new chipset, faster and somehow being cheaper than s20 when it first launched so s20 the base model, when it first launched, was 999 and for this s21 it's actually 7.99, so with 200 off difference where they all go right. So, let's talk about that today, and I'm also going to talk about some newer feature for the s21, so one the obvious one would be all the accessories that come with the phone itself. Samsung kind of went with the route of what apple has been doing so Samsung for the s21.
They took away the charger and there's no more yearbooks come with the phone itself, so those two were gone. I don't think it's that big of a deal for a CENTR not to improve a 25 watt fast charging charger in this s21 uh, because you probably have one running around at home, or you can actually go out and get one if you don't have it. So I don't think that's that big of a deal and plus the wire yearbook, a lot of the company now are pushing out wireless yearbook. So for me, I recently got the Samsung Galaxy yearbook pro that one is actually really, really good, and it works well with the s21, because there's one other feature that uh it will only be capable using with s21, is called the 360. It kind of gives you a surround sound when you have that yearbook pro with the s21.
When that being said, so with those two things not included, I don't see that being that big of a deal for some bigger difference in terms of physical difference is that Samsung s21 the base model use plastic back so now to some people. Plastic on a flagship might seem kind of cheap, but if you actually have your hands on this cell phone, it doesn't look all that bad it. Actually, I would prefer this kind of plastic bag versus the glass back now for people who use a cell phone case, then it really doesn't matter whether the phone has a glass back or a plastic bag, and so in that regard I don't really mind the physical change all right. So another big difference between the s20 and 21 is that with s20 you can expand the internal storage capacity with external memory card, but with s21 you can no longer do that. You can buy the either 128 gigabyte or 256 or the 512 version memory.
Stop is no longer there for the s21. Speaking of memory. S20 has 12 gigs of ram. Now versus s21 only has 8 gigabytes of ram. Now to some people there's well 12 versus 8.
Of course 12 is bigger is better, but for me, after I've been using the s21, I did not see that much of big difference now, if you don't really understand ram in the nutshell, as pretty much lets, you run multiple apps in the background, without ever having them shut down, so it would be convenient for you to retrieve the app in an instant compared to if you have less ram. But in my case, when I have used my s21, I haven't seen that much of slow down, because the fact that s21 has a newer and faster chip now speaking of the chip, so for s20 it only comes in with the snapdragon 865 and for s21 it has the newest snapdragon, triple eight chips within it. So in that regard a more than compensate for the lack of ram. Now I pull up. Some test runs with the 3d mark benchmark.
Obviously, the s21 outpaced, the s20 with a much higher margin. The phone itself performed much, much better than what s20 does, even though it has less ram than the s20. So higher ram is not always better in that regard right. Another thing, that's a big difference between the s21 and s20 is that the screen resolution for s21 is now at 1080, as opposed to the s20 once at higher resolution.3400 x 1440, but even though, with the less screen resolution s21 still has the 120 hertz refresh rate. If you have used s20 or any other smartphone that has higher refresh rate, then you would know that the screen resolution would drop.
Usually to 1080 anyway, so to me, um I've been using the 120 hertz with my s20 the whole time, so it didn't really bother me for the lower resolution. Now those are some big drawbacks with s21. Now to me, I don't see them as that big of deal now, because the fact that it's 200 less than the s20 um, I think some of this stuff that Samsung has cut off. I'm okay with it, because overall s21 is much faster phone than the s20 and much better now, some of the stuff that they still remain the same, the back cameras. They are still the same as the s20, but with the fuel modification, mainly due to the fact that the s21 has the snapdragon triple h, chip that chip is really designed to help to take photos and videos.
When you are taking photos or videos, it became much, much better and more stable when you are doing so case to point. If you want to take a photo at 30 times and when you are taking the photo, the way, s20 the camera kind of shakes- and you cannot really stabilize when you are taking the photo or the wall, but with s21 you can so in that regard an actually able to take better picture than s20. Now I won't suggest anybody to go out and take 30 times photos because a lot of times those photos become useless and just because the fact that you expense so much, but you could at least take the photo or video with ease even at the higher zoom rate. Another thing I want to mention is that the fingerprint to unlock the phone. I feel that the s21 is much quicker response than the s20.
So in conclusion, should you upgrade to s21 uh? The answer will be: yes, if you are owner of a s20 based model, just like me, so I took advantage of the s20 Black Friday itself. The amount of price I paid for the s20 is really, really low. So when I trade in the s21, it makes a lot of sense to me. But if you are not a s20 based model owner, then um you might have to think twice. Let's just do some comparison and see how much you actually initially pay for the phone versus what you need to pay now when you trade in for the s21 but as well right now, I really like how Samsung is pricing their phone, especially for their flagship, the prices not keep going up, and it's actually coming down, and they find ways to cut it and not to cut the phone's performance but to give more value to the consumer.
So thank you for watching. If you have any questions comment down below until next time, bye.
