Hey guys its crystal and I got two blue phones here with the galaxy as ten and the iPhone 10 are and I know, the s10 II has been out for a couple of months, but I wanted to see for myself how these cameras compare side-by-side. So the STE has two cameras on the back, basically the same as the s10 and s10 plus, but no telephoto lens and the iPhone 10 R has a single camera on the back, just like the main camera on the 10s and 10s max, but again, no telephoto lens on there either. Now before we take a look at those front, fixing cameras are getting better and better these days, and we all love our selfies. So let's check those out first, so here's our first daylight selfie with a nice and bright background and a lot going on too, with all the trees I feel like the s10 II does a better job at keeping those highlights under control. When it comes to the shadows, they look kind of faded on there and on the iPhone, just looks more crushed and dark, but my face kind of similar in both, even though the s honey is definitely softer and that's very characteristic of all the Samsung Galaxy devices these days. But it looks good it's not that far off from the iPhones.
That's also softening things up a bit more than they used to, but we still get a little more detail in my face on the iPhone 10 are, and this next selfie is pretty much the same, but in portrait mode and live focus and again the s 10 E is looking brighter than the iPhone 10 ours picture. Also, the iPhone 10 are kind of just like it blurs everything, but my face which is kind of unnatural. Looking like everything is blurred, but my face even my hair, but besides the fact that the iPhone only keeps my face and focus I, just I like the colors on there more in terms of exposure, it's more balanced, it's not as bright, and also it's good to note that you can change the amount of blur on both phones, but I feel like the 10r. Doesn't it more naturally, with portrait mode then live focus, but one cool little thing with the s10 II, just like the s10 as 10 plus you get. Those live focus effects.
I said this last time when I did the regular SM+ I, don't know how often I'm going to use them, but they're there, and they look cool I, just I, don't see myself ever really using it. So these next photos still have that really bright background, and clearly they're both over exposing that part of the, but I'm standing more in the shadows and just like the last photo, the iPhone 10. Our does a really great job with this dynamic range, because my face is still looking a little too bright on the s10 II, because things are getting a little too blown out. What I do like with the S tiny, though, is, if you zoom into that streetlamp it does a better job at keeping that bright bowl that you can see more of the bulb, it kind of becomes a big blob on the 10r, so that looks good there and also the shadows. You see a little more information and the shadows overall throughout the whole image, but in terms of color, this is probably the closest image so far where yeah they both look basically the same slightly more saturated looking on the s10 II, but both look great here is live, focus and portrait mode, selfie number two, so we got the nice blurred background going on, but it's still kind of the same characteristics as all the other pictures.
The SME is just making me a little too bright every single time. My face kind of looks like a wax figure. You kind of it just doesn't. Look too real. It's a little too soft, and I found it just looks more real and also not as blown out as the s10 II and now with this selfie we're getting into lower light.
So things are a little darker, but the s10 II is still the brighter picture and I mean it doesn't hurt it as much as the other photos here. I like that, it keeps more information in the shadows zooming into my hair over here everything is a little more sharper. We see more detail. We can differentiate even like the strands of my hair more than on the 10r, but it's not what that looked like in real life, even though I do like the colors I kind of prefer the more real look on the 10r. This is definitely a more extreme test with these photos, because I'm basically just lit by a red light.
So it's not your typical photo. Everything is really red, and it's kind of going more for that. Music. Video look but yeah I expected the 10r to do worse here, but it kind of pushes, through keeping things more sharp and in focus where the honey just kind of falls apart here and another low-light selfie, definitely another extreme test because. It was really dark when I was this photo and both of them are not looking the best.
But the good thing about the s10 II is that it's brighter it's able to bring in all that light where the ten are I mean it's really dark. You can barely see anything in that photo. The jean jacket just kind of gets lost. My hair gets completely lost, and it's kind of crazy that the SNA is able to keep all that light in there clearly they're, both grainy, not in a good way, but the s10 II is still brighter and I. Appreciate that and another thing that I appreciate about the s10 ease, selfie camera is that we can take wide angled selfies, which is really cool.
It makes for a cool shot. You can get more people in it and yeah I, just I love the way it looks, and it's just one advantage to having the s10 II. Now, let's get into selfie video, starting with the s10 II here it is when advantage with this one is that you get to record in 4k. So that is what you're seeing right now I also got that bright, sun blasting behind me. It's doing a pretty good job at keeping everything nice and sharp, though, even though this guy does look a little overexposed.
But let me know what you guys think in the comments below and here's iPhone 10 hours a selfie video, this one's up scaled to 4k from 1080p, so you don't get that 4k option straight from the camera, but it's looking good I also got that bright, Sun blasting behind me, and we're just getting that same overexposed sky, but I, don't know everything's still looking nice and sharp. Let me know what you guys think and now, let's move to the rear cameras, starting with this picture of these lovely flowers and I have to, say both flowers are looking beautiful, but the colors on the 10r are so vibrant, not just the flowers but the sky. The blue of the sky looks great too, and the SNE just kind of looks washed out compared to the iPhone. If you zoom into the flower, though, I feel like the s10 II did a slightly better job of keeping things sharper I feel like you can see. The little fuzzy leaves a little more clearly but zooming back out.
Both photos themselves like they're, both great pictures, but the colors on the 10r are just beautiful, especially for a flower picture and here's the next photo technically another flower pic. But I'm in this one too, and the Tommie is kind of doing the same thing as this selfie camera, but not as extreme, where it's all-around brighter, but that also helps it in the shadows, because you kind of see a lot more information in those shadows compared to the ten hours shadows, they're, definitely crushed and getting a little too dark, especially in my hair. I will say, though, specifically I prefer the skin tones on the iPhone 10 are but as a whole, I think the s10 II is a better image and here's a shot of this cool looking building by the beach and the first thing that jumps out is the difference in color. Temperature is definitely more visible. Here.
Things are looking bluer and Pinker on the iPhone, 10 are, and those yellows and greens are coming out on the s10 II. That's also making the sky more blue on the iPhone 10 are, and because of that personally, I, like the colors on the iPhone 10 are here, but in terms of dynamic range iPhone, 10 R is also doing a great job, because zooming into this palm tree. You see the details of the shadows a little more. Those are a little more crushed on the s10 II and the sky is getting a little too bright in that area too, but the 10r is still keeping the blue of the sky and the shadows are definitely more visible in this next photo, not hating on the s10 II, but this is where the iPhone 10 R really shines, because we got that Sun beaming right at me, and everything just looks perfect from the details of my hair to the colors the background, the skin tones, the blue of the jacket, everything all around just looks perfect, and now, let's take a look at some street art with this next picture and I do see a color temperature difference here where things are shifting to the cooler side of things on the s10 II. That's also something that I do tend to prefer, but the image as a whole just looks sharper, and you see more detail on the iPhone.10 are especially in those bright areas on the 26, the white area of the 26. You see a bit more in this next photo.
We got a wider shot of me and, yes, both photos are good photos, but they're, clearly very different and the s10 II is a good photo, but the 10r has everything going for it. I will say it does give it a more unnatural feel, but to get a picture like this straight out of the camera is pretty nuts okay next up on their flower pick, because I really like flowers and this purple one caught my eye so again immediately. Just like all the other photos, I think both cameras are doing pretty spectacular, but the s10 II is winning this one. For me, although I like the warmer colors more on the iPhone 10, are the flower itself? Has this extra sharpness and crispness on the STE that I love, and it also brings out the blue of the sky a little more without over exposing it like the 10r did in some areas. Also, so many of the green leaves are exposed better in the s10, an as well and its overall, looking quite lovely next up.
We get really up and close to my face with another portrait and life focused picture and the biggest difference here is the way the phone's handle skin tones with more reds and pinks on the 10r and more yellows and green tones on the s10 II. The s10 II once again has more of a smoothening effect as well. Well, I mean they both kind of do this, but it's more visible on the s10 II highlights and bright areas are also slightly brighter on the s10 II and, although both are not perfect around the edges, when separating that foreground and background is cool to see how far portrait mode and life focus have come, here's one less portrait, /live focus daylight picture, and you guys might recognize this one from my Instagram. If you follow me, I asked you guys to guess which phone took the ESTA nice photo with no comparison, pic and I think some of you actually got it so good job but yeah. It's really not that different from the last photo I mean the skin tone.
Difference is still there. The highlights are again slightly brighter on the s10 II and the way both handle the edges of my hair is still pretty impressive. Considering that the wind was blowing it all over the place. I do love the vibrant colors, like that pink wall on the 10r, but let me know which one you guys liked most in the comments below let's get indoors and this next one in this lovely Airbnb I was staying in colors are definitely more accurate to real life on the 10r. But once again the s10 II did a great job at handling highlights here.
If you look at the windows, especially the left, one, the sky is still visible and even the tops of the trees too. So, overall, with the S honey, you can see darker areas better and brighter areas ?, making it the better exposed picture. The 10r does do a great job with detail, though zooming into areas of the wooden wall. We see more of that wood detail with the ten arm, so there's pros and cons to both, but as a whole. The s 10a is looking great here.
Okay, going back outside getting into even lower light, here's a picture of me under the lovely Venice sign, iPhone, 10 R is handling the lights of the sign so well with keeping its color, but also it's easier to see that individual bulbs, but taking a look at me, I, look a little too dark on the s10 II, which makes my skin look way more orange than it is, and both pictures are getting a bit noisy, but the 10r did a great job of exposing the picture while keeping the sky, nice and blue -. There's me again with the Flamingo pose this time other than color temperature. The pictures aren't super different, but I love the way the s10 II exposed the highlights and shadows with my outfit and also in my hair. It's definitely a little too faded looking in those shadows in some areas, but is bringing in more light for sure, colors are still more vibrant on the 10r, which you can see in the red of the sign on top and the green of the palm trees on the back. But overall both are similar when it comes to noise level.
You can see that both of them are starting to suffer as it's getting darker outside had to include a nice Venice Beach sunset pic so here it is looking pretty beautiful on both despite the differences, I, just I love the 10rs colors here so much. The extra punch in colors really works in its favor with the sky and the Sun. Now, obviously, with that background, being the sunset you're going to get a lot of dark silhouettes in the foreground, but you can still see more in those dark areas on the 10r. The s10 II does a great job with these clouds, though almost giving them more dimension. The grass is also better exposed on the s10 II, so once again, like every image, there's pros and cons to both, but a lot of it comes down to what you prefer in a picture, and before we get into even lower light, gotta show some ultra-wide angled pics from the s10 II, because, yes, it has that second camera on the back and I love it so much.
It makes for some really cool looking pictures, and it's nice that Samsung still included it. Even in their slightly cheaper device, okay, here's the first nighttime picture of this sushi restaurant and at first glance the iPhone 10 R is looking great in those shadows- definitely gives us a lot more visibility there, which I honestly wasn't expecting with this picture. Since the s10 II with his variable aperture, is known for giving us brighter lower light pictures, but the s10 II did a great job with that neon sign properly, exposing it even in the brightest areas. We already know the 10r loves to bring out those reds, and although it looks nice again, it's almost too vibrant making us lose detail in that umbrella. This next shot was not the safest one to get, but we got it and yes, I mean both are pretty potato quality here, but you definitely see my face a bit more on the 10r I.
Don't know what happened with the s10 here, because the whole picture is suffering quite a bit, not only in my face, but the lights and the picture looked pretty funky too. It was pretty dark here and the main light sources were all in the background, but even with that, and the 10r still gives us more detail and sharpness all around making it the better picture here and Here I am standing in a little alley. So now the 10r isn't as colorful as it usually is, and the s10 II is a more vibrant one, all around from the sky. To my face, and even my denim jacket zooming into that jacket, it got super blurry on the 10r, but the SET did a great job at keeping it. Not only vibrant, but also sharper going up to my face is definitely really is smoothing things out a little too much on the honey, but I kind of prefer that over the noise on the 10r I do wish.
It was a little less yellow. Looking on yes, honey, but overall, the S honey is definitely my pick when it comes to these pictures. Next, up with this fire extinguisher again, the 10r is losing its vibrancy in colors. When it comes to these low-light pictures, s10 II is doing a great job at maintaining its vibrancy and also brings in more light areas of our smoothened out on the s10 II as well, which is a very characteristic of Samsung, Galaxy phones and low light, and that helps keep detail too, because if we zoom into the fire extinguisher, everything is slightly easier to read on there because of this, and the s10 an is once again bringing out those colors in this low-light picture of me with these cacti. Oh, so consistently has given us more sharpness and low-light and I will say, I still think it makes my skin too saturated, but the 10r is looking too blurry and noisy all around compared to the s10 II time to look at some 4k video with the rear cameras, starting with the s10 II colors, are looking vibrant and beautiful.
Even with this sunset shot, it was able to properly expose everything quickly, ? and honestly when it comes to videos with both of these phones. The fact that we can shoot 4k and get stuff that looks this good on our phones is crazy. Here's some footage from the 10r, where colors are a little more toned down, but definitely more realistic. Looking I also notice. It is slightly more shaky when it comes to stabilization, but aside from that, just like the more expensive tennis, tennis, Max and the s10 plus video looks great on both, and you can't go wrong with either when it comes to video.
Now, if you saw my last comparison between the 10s, Max and s10 +, although the iPhone 10 R and s 10 e are cheaper phones, a lot of the characteristics and differences remain the same. You definitely get a lot more features with the S 10 II like a whole extra ultra-wide camera on the back and things like Pro, Mode and wide-angle. Selfie is straight from the native camera app and if all that extra stuff is really cool, you're going to love that phone way more when it comes to picture and video taking but I have to say in terms of actual pictures and video quality straight out of the camera. This was probably the closest comparison in the sense that there's a lot of pictures that I loved from the 10r and equally a lot that I loved from the s10 II, so overall I think it's safe to say that I seriously mean it when it comes down to preference with these and that you wouldn't be disappointed with either of these phones. So, thank you guys so much for watching and, of course, let me know in the is below which of the two cameras you preferred and if you want to see more camera comparisons, I'll leave a link in the description below but stay tuned.
